1Geotechnical risk management to prevent coal outburst in room-and-pillar mining显示文摘A coal outburst is a severe safety hazard in room-and-pillar mining under deep cover. It is more likely to occur during pillar retreating. Multi-seam mining dramatically increases the risk of coal outburst within the influence zones created by remnant pillars and gob-solid boundaries. Though coal outburst is generally associated with heavy loading of coal pillars,its occurrence is difficult to predict. Risk management provides a proactive tool to minimize coal outburst in room-and-pillar mining under deep cover. Risk assessment is the first step in identifying and quantifying outburst risk factors. The primary risk factors for coal outburst are overburden depth,roof and floor strength,geological anomalies,mining type,multi-seam mining,and panel width. A risk assessment chart can be used to proactively screen out mining sections with high risk of coal outburst for further analysis. Gob-solid boundaries and remnant pillars are critical factors in evaluation of the coal outburst risk of multi-seam mining. Risk identification,risk assessment,geologic influence mapping,geotechnical evaluation,risk analysis,risk mitigation,and monitoring are essential elements of coal outburst risk management process. 2A New Method for Determining Fluid Compositions in the H_2O-NaClCaCl_2 System with Cryogenic Raman Spectroscopy显示文摘Raman peaks of various hydrates in the H2O-NaCl-CaCl2 system have been previously identified,but a quantitative relationship between the Raman peaks and XNaCl(i.e.,NaCl/(NaCl+CaCl2)) has not been established,mainly due to the difficulty to freeze the solutions.This problem was solved by adding alumina powder to the solutions to facilitate nucleation of crystals.Cryogenic(-185oC) Raman spectroscopic studies of alumina-spiced solutions indicate that XNaCl is linearly correlated with the total peak area fraction of hydrohalite.Capsules of solutions made from silica capillary were prepared to simulate fluid inclusions.Most of these artificial fluid inclusions could not be totally frozen even at temperatures as low as-185 oC,and the total peak area fraction of hydrohalite is not correlated linearly with XNaCl.However,the degree of deviation(?XNaCl) from the linear correlation established earlier is related to the amount of residual solution,which is reflected by the ratio(r) of the baseline 'bump' area,resulting from the interstitial unfrozen brine near 3435 cm-1,and the total hydrate peak area between 3350 and 3600 cm-1.A linear correlation between ?XNaCl and r is established to estimate XNaCl from cryogenic Raman spectroscopic analysis for fluid inclusions.CHI Guoxiang CHU Haixia Ryan SCOTT CHOU I-Ming 2014Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2014,88,4:7
3Baseline effects of lysophosphatidylcholine and nerve growth factor in a rat model of sciatic nerve regeneration after crush injury显示文摘Schwann cells play a major role in helping heal injured nerves. They help clear debris, produce neurotrophins, upregulate neurotrophin receptors, and form bands of Büngner to guide the healing nerve. But nerves do not always produce enough neurotrophins and neurotrophin receptors to repair themselves. Nerve growth factor(NGF) is an important neurotrophin for promoting nerve healing and lysophosphatidylcholine(LPC) has been shown to stimulate NGF receptors(NGFR). This study tested the administration of a single intraneural injection of LPC(1 mg/mL for single LPC injection and 10 mg/mL for multiple LPC injections) at day 0 and one(day 7), two(days 5 and 7), or three(days 5, 7, and 9) injections of NGF(160 ng/mL for single injections and 80 ng/mL for multiple injections) to determine baseline effects on crush ed sciatic nerves in rats. The rats were randomly divided into four groups: control, crush, crush-NGF, and crush-LPC-NGF. The healing of the nerves was measured weekly by monitoring gait; electrophysiological parameters: compound muscle action potential(CMAP) amplitudes; and morphological parameters: total fascicle areas, myelinated fiber counts, fiber densities, fiber packing, and mean g-ratio values at weeks 3 and 6. The crush, crush-NGF, and crush-LPC-NGF groups statistically differed from the control group for all six weeks for the electrophysiological parameters but only differed from the control group at week 3 for the morphological parameters. The crush, crush-NGF, and crush-LPC-NGF groups did not differ from each other over the course of the study. Single injections of LPC and NGF one week apart or multiple treatments of NGF at 5, 7 and 9 days post-injury did not alter the healing rate of the sciatic nerves during weeks 1-6 of the study.
