| 1 | Relationship between T-lymphocyte cytokine levels and sero-response to hepatitis B vaccines显示文摘AIM: To investigate the cellular defects by analyzing the (Th1/Th2) cytokine levels in vaccine responders and non-responders. METHODS: Peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) from responders and non-responders were stimulated with or with out recombinant HBsAg or PHA. Broad spectrum of cytokines viz (Th1) IFN-γ, IL-2, TNF-α, IL-12 and (Th2) IL-10, IL-4 were measured after in vitro stimulation with recombinant HBsAg and were compared with respective antibody titers. RESULTS: A significant decrease (P = 0.001) in Th1 and Th2 cytokines namely, IL-2, INF-γ, TNF-α and IL-10in non-responders was observed. The level of IL-4 was not significant between the three groups. Furthermore, despite a strong Th1 and Th2 cytokine response, the level of IL-12 was elevated in high-responders compared to other groups (P = 0.001) and demonstrated a positive correlation with anti-HBs titers and Th1 cytokine response. | 2 | A SURVEY OF STACKELBERG DIFFERENTIAL GAME MODELS IN SUPPLY AND MARKETING CHANNELS显示文摘Stackelberg differential game models have been used to study sequential decision making in noncooperative games in diverse fields.In this paper,we survey recent applications of Stackelberg differential game models to the supply chain management and marketing channels literatures.A common feature of these applications is the specification of the game structure:a decentralized channel composed of a manufacturer and independent retailers,and a sequential decision procedure with demand and supply dynamics and coordination issues.In supply chain management,Stackelberg differential games have been used to investigate inventory issues,wholesale and retail pricing strategies,and outsourcing in dynamic environments.The underlying demand typically has growth dynamics or seasonal variation.In marketing,Stackelberg differential games have been used to model cooperative advertising programs,store brand and national brand advertising strategies,shelf space allocation,and pricing and advertising decisions.The demand dynamics are usually extensions of the classical advertising capital models or sales-advertising response models.We begin by explaining the Stackelberg differential game solution methodology and then provide a description of the models and results reported in the literature. | Xiuli HE Ashutosh PRASAD Suresh P. | 3 | Comparison of three different recombinant hepatitis B vaccines:GeneVac-B,Engerix B and Shanvac B in high risk infants born to HBsAg positive mothers in India显示文摘AIM: To evaluate a low cost Indian recombinant hepatitis B vaccine GeneVac-B for its immunogenicity and safety in comparison to Engerix B and Shanvac B vaccine in high risk newborn infants born to hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive mothers. METHODS: A total of 158 infants were enrolled in the study. Fifty eight infants were enrolled in the GeneVac-B group while 50 each were included for Engerix B and Shanvac B groups. A three-dose regimen of vaccination; at birth (within 24 h of birth), 1st mo and 6 mo. were adopted with 10 μg dosage administered uniformly in all the three groups. Clinical and immunological parameters were assessed for safety and immunogenicity of the vaccines, in all the enrolled infants. RESULTS: Successful follow up until seven months of age was achieved in 83/ (48/58) for GeneVac-B, 76/ (38/50) and 64/ (32/50) for Engerix B and Shanvac B groups respectively. 100/ seroconversion and seroprotection was achieved in all the three groups of infants. The geometric mean titers of anti-HBs one month after the completion of three dose of vaccination were 90.5, 80.9 and 72.5 mIU/mL in GeneVac-B, Engerix B and Shanvac B vaccine group respectively. Furthermore the level of anti-HBs increases with age ofbabies who were born to HBsAg positive mothers. The GMT values of anti-HBs were 226.7, 193.9 and 173.6 mIU/mL respectively in GeneVac-B, Engerix B and Shanvac B groups one year after the completion of the three doses of vaccine. No systemic reactions were reported in infants during the entire vaccination process of GeneVac-B and the other two vaccines. Clinical safety parameters remained within the normal limits throughout the study period.CONCLUSION: The study concludes that there is no significant difference between the three recombinant hepatitis B vaccines. | 5 | Distribution Pattern of Vascular Plant Species of Mountains in Nepal and their Fate Against Global Warming显示文摘This study aims to find the altitudinal distribution pattern of vascular plant species reported from high mountain of Nepal(Manang) along the whole Himalayan elevation gradient, and evaluate their fate against climate change. Data was gathered from multiple sources, field investigations, literatures, and herbarium specimens. Altogether, 303 vascular plant species were reported from Manang. We used a published data to calculate distribution range of each species by interpolating between its upper and lower elevation limits. The relationship between elevation and species richness is elucidated by generalized linear model. The consequence of global warming upon Manang's vascular plant species was estimated based on projected temperature change for next century and adiabatic lapse rate along the elevation gradient of the Himalayas. The vascular plant species richness has a unimodel relationship with elevation along the whole elevation gradient of Nepal as well as in three biogeographical regions of Nepal. Vascular plants of Manang are found distributed from low land Terai to high alpine regions of Nepal and their elevation distribution range varies from 200 to 4700 m. Out of 303 vascular plants of Manang, only seven species might be affected if temperature increase by 1.5°C, whereas at least 70 species will be affected with 5°C temperature increased. | 7 | Synthesis, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity of bis(indolyl)methanes显示文摘A series of bioactive bis(indolyl)methanes are synthesized by one-pot green reaction of indole with various substituted aldehydes by microwave irradiation under solvent free conditions. The antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and anti-inflammatory activity of the synthesized bis(indolyl)-methanes are evaluated in vitro and compared to standard drugs tetracycline and diclofenac,respectively.
