1UFMylation of RPL26 links translocation-associated quality control to endoplasmic reticulum protein homeostasis显示文摘Protein biogenesis at the endoplasmic reticulum(ER)in eukaryotic cells is monitored by a protein quality control system named ER-associated protein degradation(ERAD).While there has been substantial progress in understanding how ERAD eliminates defective polypeptides generated from erroneous folding,how cells remove nascent chains stalled in the translocon during co-translational protein insertion into the ER is unclear.Here we show that ribosome stalling during protein translocation induces the attachment of UFM1,a ubiquitin-like modifier,to two conserved lysine residues near the COOH-terminus of the 60S ribosomal subunit RPL26(uL24)at the ER.Strikingly,RPL26 UFMylation enables the degradation of stalled nascent chains,but unlike ERAD or previously established cytosolic ribosome-associated quality control(RQC),which uses proteasome to degrade their client proteins,ribosome UFMylation promotes the targeting of a translocation-arrested ER protein to lysosomes for degradation.RPL26 UFMylation is upregulated during erythroid differentiation to cope with increased secretory flow,and compromising UFMylation impairs protein secretion,and ultimately hemoglobin production.We propose that in metazoan,co-translational protein translocation into the ER is safeguarded by a UFMylation-dependent protein quality control mechanism,which when impaired causes anemia in mice and abnormal neuronal development in humans.Lihui Wang Yue Xu Heather Rogers Layla Saidi Constance Tom Noguchi Honglin Li Jonathan Wilson Yewdell Nicholas Raymond Guydosh Yihong Ye 2020Cell Research2020,30,1:5
2NICKEL(Ⅱ)ion-intercalated MXene membranes for enhanced H_(2)/CO_(2) separation显示文摘Hydrogen fuel has been embraced as a potential long-term solution to the growing demand for clean energy.A membrane-assisted separation is promising in producing high-purity H_(2).Molecular sieving membranes(MSMs)are endowed with high gas selectivity and permeability because their well-defined micropores can facilitate molecular exclusion,diffusion,and adsorption.In this work,MXene nanosheets intercalated with Ni^(2+) were assembled to form an MSM supported on Al_(2)O_(3) hollow fiber via a vacuum-assisted filtration and drying process.The prepared membranes showed excellent H_(2)/CO_(2) mixture separation performance at room temperature.Separation factor reached 615 with a hydrogen permeance of 8.35×10^(-8) mol·m^(-2)·s^(-1) ·Pa^(-1).Compared with the original Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Al_(2)O_(3) hollow fiber membranes,the permeation of hydrogen through the Ni^(2+)-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Al_(2)O_(3) membrane was considerably increased,stemming from the strong interaction between the negatively charged MXene nanosheets and Ni^(2+).The interlayer spacing of MSMs was tuned by Ni^(2+).During 200-hour testing,the resultant membrane maintained an excellent gas separation without any substantial performance decline.Our results indicate that the Ni2+tailored Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Al_(2)O_(3) hollow fiber membranes can inspire promising industrial applications.Yiyi Fan Jinyong Li Saidi Wang Xiuxia Meng Yun Jin Naitao Yang Bo Meng Jiaquan Li Shaomin Liu 2021Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2021,15,4:1
3Protective Factors for Loneliness among Adolescents during COVID-19: Role of the Interpersonal Relationships and Sibling Status显示文摘This study examined the moderating effects of parent-child,same-sex,opposite-sex and teacher-student relation-ships between sibling status and loneliness during COVID-19.A total of 1,591 adolescents in China completed the study questionnaires which assessed the aforementioned variables.The results showed that same-sex and teacher-student relationships moderated the association between sibling status and loneliness.The results indicated that among participants with good same-sex relationships during COVID-19,compared to non-only-children parti-cipants,the only-children participants were more likely to experience a lower level of loneliness.However,parti-cipants with poor same-sex relationships experienced similar level of loneliness regardless of whether they had siblings.Thesefindings would be helpful for parents,teachers,and other stakeholders to take effective measures to reduce loneliness feelings among Chinese adolescents.Sha Shen Saidi Wang Md Zahir Ahmed Fatema Akhter Hiramoni Jingrong Sha Xiangdong Yan Mary C.Jobe Oli Ahmed 2021International Journal of Mental Health Promotion2021,23,4:0
