1Spatial and temporal effects on seed dispersal and seed predation of Musa acuminata in southern Yunnan, China显示文摘Wild bananas are abundant in tropical areas and many ecologists have observed that the succession process is quicker following increased disturbance.This study was conducted to analyze animal–seed interactions and their effects on the seed fate of a wild banana species(Musa acuminata)in tropical southern Yunnan(China)through experiments considering spatial(site and habitat)and temporal(seasons)variation.The largest proportion of fruits(81%)was removed by frugivorous seed dispersers,especially by bats at nighttime.Only 13%of the fruits were removed by climbing seed predators(different species of rats).In the exclosure treatment,rodents accounted for a significantly higher total artificially exposed seed removal number than ants,but with spatial and temporal differences.The highest seed predation rate by rodents(70%)was found in forest with wild banana stands,corresponding with the highest rodent diversity(species numbers and abundance)among the habitat types.In contrast,the seed removal number by ants(57%)was highest in the open land habitats,but there was no close correlation with ant diversity.Seed removal numbers by ants were significantly higher in the dry compared to the rainy season,but rodent activity showed no differences between seasons.The overall results suggest that the largest proportion of seeds produced by wild banana are primarily dispersed by bats.Primary seed dispersal by bats at nighttime is essential for wild banana seeds to escape seed predation.Lingzeng MENG Xiuxia GAO Jin CHEN Konrad MARTIN 2012Integrative Zoology2012,7,1:3
2Preparation of electrolyte membranes for micro tubular solid oxide fuel cells显示文摘Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) micro tubular electrolyte membranes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) were prepared via the combined wet phase inversion and sintering technique. The as-derived YSZ mi- cro tubes consist of a thin dense skin layer and a thick porous layer that can serve as the electrode of fuel cells. The dense and the porous electrolyte layers have the thickness of 3-5 μm and 70-90 μm, respectively, while the inner surface porosity of the porous layer is higher than 28.1%. The two layers are perfectly integrated together to preclude the crack or flake of electrolyte film from the electrode. 8NICKEL(Ⅱ)ion-intercalated MXene membranes for enhanced H_(2)/CO_(2) separation显示文摘Hydrogen fuel has been embraced as a potential long-term solution to the growing demand for clean energy.A membrane-assisted separation is promising in producing high-purity H_(2).Molecular sieving membranes(MSMs)are endowed with high gas selectivity and permeability because their well-defined micropores can facilitate molecular exclusion,diffusion,and adsorption.In this work,MXene nanosheets intercalated with Ni^(2+) were assembled to form an MSM supported on Al_(2)O_(3) hollow fiber via a vacuum-assisted filtration and drying process.The prepared membranes showed excellent H_(2)/CO_(2) mixture separation performance at room temperature.Separation factor reached 615 with a hydrogen permeance of 8.35×10^(-8) mol·m^(-2)·s^(-1) ·Pa^(-1).Compared with the original Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Al_(2)O_(3) hollow fiber membranes,the permeation of hydrogen through the Ni^(2+)-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Al_(2)O_(3) membrane was considerably increased,stemming from the strong interaction between the negatively charged MXene nanosheets and Ni^(2+).The interlayer spacing of MSMs was tuned by Ni^(2+).During 200-hour testing,the resultant membrane maintained an excellent gas separation without any substantial performance decline.Our results indicate that the Ni2+tailored Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)/Al_(2)O_(3) hollow fiber membranes can inspire promising industrial applications.Yiyi Fan Jinyong Li Saidi Wang Xiuxia Meng Yun Jin Naitao Yang Bo Meng Jiaquan Li Shaomin Liu 2021Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2021,15,4:1

10Shock wave on materials显示文摘Shock wave is associated with dynamic loading that can result in phase transition(PT), optical and mechanical property changing, and chemical reaction on materials. Here, we report recent progress about shockinduced PT of polycrystalline iron, the underlying mechanism of the optical emission from sapphire, and the synthesis from single-phase Ru Si in the National Key Laboratory of Shock Wave and Detonation Physics.Results indicated that grain boundary(GB) could affect the PT pressure threshold and rate of iron, the pressure threshold decreases with decreasing GB defects, and the PT rate shows a variation with increasing GB size; wavelength-dependent optical emissivity(non-gray-body emission) would be generated that was not revealed previously for shocked sapphire, and the observed luminescence was from the shock-induced shear bands, but without superheating phenomenon; shock compression could be an effective way to synthesis Ru-Si nanocrystals, when the shock pressure was appropriate; and Ru-Si powder could completely transform to fine-grain structure Cs Cl-type RuSi at 40.4 GPa.Xiuxia Cao Tao Li Xuhai Li Chuanmin Meng Xianming Zhou Wenjun Zhu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,36:0
11Catalyst-modified perovskite hollow fiber membrane for oxidative coupling of methane显示文摘The catalytic oxidative cou pling of methane(OCM)to C_(2) hydrocarbons(C_(2)H_(6) and C_(2)H_(4))represents one of the most effective ways to convert natural gas to more useful products,which can be performed effectively using La_(0.6)Sr0.4Co_(0.2)Fe_(0.8)O_(3-δ)(LSCF)perovskite hollow fiber membrane microreactor.In this work,the effects of adding a thin BaCe_(0.8)Gd_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(BCG)catalyst film onto the inner LSCF fiber surface as the OCM catalyst and a porous Ba0.5Sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(BSCF)perovskite layer onto the outer LSCF surface to improve the oxygen permeation were evaluated.Between 700℃and 1000℃,methane conversion increased in the order of uncoated,BCG and BSCF-coated,and BCG-coated LSCF hollow fiber while Coselectivity and C_(2)-yield increased in the order of BCG and BSCF-coated,uncoated,and BCG-coated LSCF hollow fiber.Oxygen permeation flux at the same temperature range,on the other hand,was enhanced in the order of uncoated,BCG-coated,and BCG and BSCF-coated LSCF hollow fiber.This finding demonstrates the complex interplay between oxygen permeation and OCM performance.The BCG and BSCFcoated hollow fiber was also subjected to thermal cycles between 850℃and 900℃for up to 175 hours during which the fiber showed minor degradation in oxygen permeation fluxes and relatively stable OCM performance.Jian Song Claudia Li Shao Zhang Xiuxia Meng Bo Meng Jaka Sunarso 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,1:0
