| 1 | Biochemical changes in phenols,flavonoids,tannins,vitamin E,β-carotene and antioxidant activity during soaking of three white sorghum varieties显示文摘Objective:To investigate the changes in total phenols,flavonoids,tannins,vitamin E, β-carotene and antioxidant activity during soaking of three white sorghum varieties.Methods: The changes in total phenols,total ilavonoids,tannins,phenolic acids compounds,flavonoid components,vitamin E,P-carotene and antioxidant activity during soaking of sorghum grains were determined.Results:Total phenols,total flavonoids,tannins,vitamin E,P-carotene and antioxidant activity in raw sorghum were ranged from 109.21 to 116.70,45.91 to 54.69,1.39 to 21.79 mg/100 g,1.74 to 5.25,0.54 to 1.19 mg/kg and 21.72%to 27.69%and 25.29%to 31.97%,respectively. The above measured compounds were significantly decreased after soaking.p-Hydroxybenzoic acid,vanillic acid,syringic acid and cinnamic acid represent the major phenolic acids in Dorado variety.While ferulic acid,p-coumaric acid,gallic acid and caffeic acid represent the major phenolic acids in Shandaweel-6.On the other hand,protocatechuic acid represents the major phenolic acids in Giza-15.Regarding flavonoids components,Dorado was the highest variety in kampferol and naringenin while Shandaweel-6 was the highest variety in luteolin, apigenin,hypersoid,quercelin and christen.Finally,Giza-15 was the highest variety in catechin. Phenolic acids,flavonoid compounds and antioxidant activities were decreased after soaking. | 2 | Green synthesis of iron oxide(Fe_3O_4)nanoparticles using two selected brown seaweeds:Characterization and application for lead bioremediation显示文摘The exploitation of different plant materials for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles is considered a green technology because it does not involve any harmful chemicals. In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles(Fe_3O_4-NPs) were synthesized using a completely green biosynthetic method by reduction of ferric chloride solution using brown seaweed water extracts. The two seaweeds Padina pavonica(Linnaeus) Thivy and Sargassum acinarium(Linnaeus) Setchell 1933 were used in this study. The algae extract was used as a reductant of Fe Cl_3 resulting in the phytosynthesis of Fe_3O_4-NPs. The phytogenic Fe_3O_4-NPs were characterized by surface plasmon band observed close to 402 nm and 415 nm; the obtained Fe_3O_4-NPs are in the particle sizes ranged from 10 to 19.5 nm and 21.6 to 27.4 nm for P. pavonica and S. acinarium, respectively. The strong signals of iron were reported in their corresponding EDX spectra. FTIR analyses revealed that sulphated polysaccharides are the main biomolecules in the algae extracts that do dual function of reducing the Fe Cl_3 and stabilizing the phytogenic Fe_3O_4-NPs. The biosynthesized Fe_3O_4-NPs were entrapped in calcium alginates beads and used in Pb adsorption experiments. The biosynthesized Fe_3O_4-NPs alginate beads via P. pavonica(Linnaeus) Thivy had high capacity for bioremoval of Pb(91%) while that of S. acinarium(Linnaeus) Setchell 1933 had a capacity of(78%) after 75 min.The values of the process parameters for the maximum Pb removal efficiency by Fe_3O_4-NPs alginate beads synthesized via P. pavonica(Linnaeus) Thivy were also estimated. | EL-KASSAS Hala Y. | 3 | Spectrofluorimetric method for determination of some angiotensin II receptor antagonists显示文摘A simple, rapid, accurate and highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric method has been developed for determination of some angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AIIRA's), namely Losartan potassium (Los-K), Irbesartan (Irb), Valsartan (Val) and Candesartan cilexetil (Cand) in pure forms as well as in their pharmaceutical dosage forms. All the variables affecting the relative fluorescence intensity (RFI) were studied and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, linear relationships with good correlation coefflcients (0.9982-0.9991) were obtained over the concentration range from 0.006 mg/mL to 1.7 mg/mL. Good accuracy and precision were successfully obtained for the analysis of tablets containing each drug alone or combined with hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) without interferences from the co-formulated HCTZ or the additives commonly present in tablets. | Salwa R. | 16 | Microplastics in landfill leachate:Sources,detection,occurrence,and removal显示文摘Due to the accumulation of an enormous amount of plastic waste from municipal and industrial sources in landfills,landfill leachate is becoming a significant reservoir of microplastics.The release of microplastics from landfill leachate into the environment can have undesirable effects on humans and biota.This study provides the state of the science regarding the source,detection,occurrence,and remediation of microplastics in landfill leachate based on a comprehensive review of the scientific literature,mostly in the recent decade.Solid waste and wastewater treatment residue are the primary sources of microplastics in landfill leachate.Microplastic concentration in raw and treated landfill leachate varied between 0-382 and 0-2.7 items L^(−1).Microplastics in raw landfill leachate are largely attributable to local plastic waste production and solid waste management practices.Polyethylene,polystyrene,and polypropylene are the most prevalent microplastic polymers in landfill leachate.Even though the colors of microplastics are primarily determined by their parent plastic waste,the predominance of light-colored microplastics in landfill leachate indicates long-term degradation.The identified morphologies of microplastics in leachate from all published sources contain fiber and fragments the most.Depending on the treatment method,leachate treatment processes can achieve microplastic removal rates between 3%and 100%.The review also provides unique perspectives on microplastics in landfill leachate in terms of remediation,final disposal,fate and transport among engineering systems,and source reduction,etc.The landfill-wastewater treatment plant loop and bioreactor landfills present unique difficulties and opportunities for managing microplastics induced by landfill leachate. | Mosarrat Samiha Kabir Hong Wang Stephanie Luster-Teasley Lifeng Zhang Renzun Zhao | 2023 | Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2023,,4: | 0 |
