1Perceptual learning for treating amblyopia in children based on activation of visual signal pathway Relationship of curative effects and time显示文摘BACKGROUND: Conventional methods (such as occlusion therapy, fine manipulation, complementary, and alternative medicine) take effects slowly, are time and labor consuming, and have uncertain curative effects in the treatment of amblyopia. Perceptual learning, a new method for treating amblyopia, improves the ability to process signals from the cerebral optic nerve system by specific visual stimulation and visual learning, as well as activation of the visual signal pathway utilizing brain nervous system plasticity. OBJECTIVE: This study investigated and evaluated the curative effects of perceptual learning, which can directionally increase brain plasticity, on the treatment of amblyopia in children. The relationship between curative effect and time was also analyzed. DESIGN: A self-control experiment. SETTING: Visual Science and Optometry Center, People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 125 amblyopic children (250 amblyopic eyes), 73 males, 52 females, averaging (6 ± 2) years of age, received treatment at the Visual Science and Optometry Center, People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region between September 2006 and February 2007 and were recruited for this study. All children presented with no structural disease of the eyeballs. Written informed consent for therapeutic regiments was obtained from each child's parent. The protocol received approval from the Hospital's Ethics Committee. METHODS: Visual function was tested with a perceptual learning system (Research Center for Human Health and Development of Sun Yat-sen University, National Engineering Technique Research Center for Medical Care Implement) for visual noise, position noise, contour discrimination, contrast sensitivity, grating stereogram, and random-dot fusion. These tests helped to evaluate the efficiency of visual information processing of these children, and to determine the degree of defects of the optic nerve cells and the connections of visual cortical neurons. According to results of visual function tests, individualized treatment was adopted for each amblyopia patient using perceptual learning system. One course of treatment lasted one month, and treatment was performed twice every day with two training procedures (each training procedure lasted for ten minutes). There was a ten-minute time interval between the two training procedures. The training treatment was performed in a quiet and dark environment. Visual acuity and recovery of visual function were tested every month. Original training procedure was continued or adjusted according to the results of visual function. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Visual function change; relationship of curative effects and curative time. RESULTS: A total of 125 amblyopia children were included in the final analysis. The total efficiency of perceptual learning for treating amblyopia in children was 75.2%. Visual acuity began to greatly increase 3 months after treatment (P < 0.05). Visual acuity was best corrected from 0.60 ± 0.23 before treatment to 0.86 ± 0.26 after treatment (P < 0.05). The mean time to reach improved levels with curative effects was (2.82 ± 1.30) months, and to reach a basically cured level was (2.87 ± 1.40) months. Percentage of improved visual acuity was the highest [98% (39/40)] in children that received 3 months of treatment and the lowest [55% (31/56)] in children that received 1 month of treatment (P < 0.05). The percentage of basically cured levels with curative effects increased with length of learning time and was the greatest in children that received 4 months of treatment [67% (31/46), P < 0.05]. 2Aerodynamic Optimum Design of Transonic Turbine Cascades Using Genetic Algorithms显示文摘This paper presents an aerodynamic optimum design method for transonic turbine cascades based on the Genetic Algorithms coupled to the inviscid flow Euler solver and the boundary-layer calculation.The Genetic Algorithms control the evolution of a population of cascades towards an optimum design.The fitness value of each string is evaluated using the flow solver. The design procedur6 has been developed and the behavior of the genetic algorithms has been tested. 3Mapping sea surface velocities in the Changjiang coastal zone with advanced synthetic aperture radar显示文摘Range Doppler velocities derived from the Envisat advanced synthetic aperture radar(ASAR) wide swath images are analyzed and assessed against the numerically simulated surface current fields derived from the finite volume coastal ocean model(FVCOM) for the Changjiang Estuary. Comparisons with the FVCOM simulations show that the European Space Agency(ESA) Envisat ASAR based Doppler shift anomaly retrievals have the capability to capture quantitative information of the surface currents in the Changjiang Estuary. The uncertainty analysis of the ASAR range Doppler velocity estimates are discussed with regard to the azimuthal and range bias corrections, radar incidence angles, inaccuracy in the wind field corrections and the presence of rain cells.The corrected range Doppler velocities for the Changjiang Estuary area are highly valuable as they exhibit quantitative expressions related to the multiscale upper layer dynamics and surface current variability around the East China Sea, including the Changjiang Estuary.WANG Lihua ZHOU Yunxuan GE Jianzhong JOHANNESSEN Johnny A. 7Heat Dissipation Performance of Porous Copper with Elongated Cylindrical Pores显示文摘The purpose of this paper is to investigate heat dissipation performance of porous copper with long cylindrical pores fabricated by a unidirectional solidification method.Three samples with porosity of 29.87%,34.47%and 50.98%were chosen and cut into size of 60 mm(length)26 mm(width)2 mm(thickness)along the vertical direction of pore axis.Their heat dissipation performance was evaluated by a nonsteady method in air and compared to those of not only bulk copper but also bored coppers with porosity of 30.61%and32.20%.It is found that the porous copper dissipated heat faster by a forced air convection than that by natural convection from 80 C to room temperature and both porosity and pore size play an important role in the performance for the porous copper.Furthermore,the heat dissipation rate is higher when the forced air was circulated along the specimens than that perpendicular to the specimens for the porous copper.It is revealed that porous copper with bigger porosity and a proper pore size possesses a higher heat dissipation rate.It is concluded that the porous copper with elongated cylindrical pores has larger heat dissipation performance than both the bulk copper and the bored copper,which is attributed to its higher specific surface area.Application of the porous copper for heat dissipation is promising.Hao Du Dongzhu Lu Jianzhong Qi Yanfang Shen Lisong Yin Yuan Wang Zhongguang Zheng Tianying Xiong 2014Journal of Materials Science & Technology2014,30,9:3

9An improved model of partition curve based on accumulation normal distribution function显示文摘Extensive studies based on partition curve of gravity separation have been investigated. All created models are merely used to simulate density distribution at the same size fraction. However, they cannot be used to predictive distribution of materials depending on compound feature of density and size. According to this situation, an improved model of partition curve based on accumulation normal distribution, which was distinguished from conventional model of accumulation normal distribution for partition curve, was proposed in this paper. It could simulate density distribution at different size fractions by using the density-size compound index and conflating the partition curves at different size fractions as one partition curve. The feasibility of three compound indexes, including mass index, settlement index and transformation index, were investigated. Specific forms of the improved model were also proposed. 10Characterization of NDM-1-producing carbapenemase in Acinetobacter spp.and E.coli isolates from diseased pigs显示文摘In recent years,the mobile metallo-β-lactamase(MBL)genes have been found to correspond to one of the most important resistance characters identified in Gramnegative bacteria,severely affecting clinical chemotherapy and threatening public health.The prevalence of mobile MBL genes and their flanking regions in Gram-negative bacteria from diseased pigs in China was investigated.A total of 334 lung samples from diseased pigs were screened for Gram-negative bacteria classified as non-susceptible to meropenem(MIC≥4mg·L^(–1)).Six isolates,including three Escherichia coli,two Acinetobacter baumanii and one A.calcoaeticus,exhibitedMBL production and carried the blaNDM-1 gene.S1-PFGE and Southern blot analysis showed that the blaNDM-1 gene was located on the chromosome of one A.baumanii isolate and on plasmids of various sizes in the other five isolates.MIC testing using broth microdilution revealed that all blaNDM-1-carrying isolates and some of their transconjugants exhibited resistance to almost allβ-lactams tested.Whole genome sequencing revealed that the flanking region of the blaNDM-1 gene from all porcine isolates had high levels of similarity with the corresponding regions in human isolates.One porcine E.coli isolate carrying blaNDM-1 was typed as ST48,a common sequence type in human E.coli isolates.These results suggest the possibility of human-tofood animal transfer of blaNDM-1-producing E.coli,highlighting the need for surveillance of carbapenemase producers among bacteria from food animals.In addition,the prudent use of antimicrobial agents to decrease the opportunities for co-selection of carbapenemase genes in food animals is also urgently needed.Rongmin ZHANG Yang WANG Zhihai LIU Jiyun LI Wenjuan YIN Lei LEI Congming WU Jianzhong SHEN 2015Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2015,2,3:2

12Transport properties,upper critical field and anisotropy of Ba(Fe_(0.75)Ru_(0.25))_2As_2 single crystals显示文摘The temperature and angle dependent resistivity of Ba(Fe 0.75 Ru 0.25) 2 As 2 single crystals were measured in magnetic fields up to 14 T.The temperature dependent resistivity with the magnetic field aligned parallel to c-axis and ab-planes allow us to derive the slope of dH ab c2 /dT and dH c c2 /dT near T c yielding an anisotropy ratio Γ = dH ab c2 /dT/dH c c2 /dT ≈ 2.By scaling the curves of resistivity vs.angle measured at a fixed temperature but different magnetic fields within the framework of the anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau theory,we obtained the anisotropy in an alternative way.Again we found that the anisotropy(m c /m ab) 1/2 was close to 2.This value is similar to that in Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2(K-doped Ba122) and Ba(Fe 0.92 Co 0.08) 2 As 2(Co-doped Ba122).This suggests that the 3D warping effect of the Fermi surface in Ru-doped samples may not be stronger than that in the K-doped or Co-doped Ba122 samples,therefore the possible nodes appearing in Ru-doped samples cannot be ascribed to the 3D warping effect of the Fermi surface.XING Jie SHEN Bing ZENG Bin LIU JianZhong DING XiaXin WANG ZhiHe YANG Huan WEN HaiHu 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,12:2
