| 1 | Plant multiscale networks:charting plant connectivity by multi-level analysis and imaging techniques显示文摘In multicellular and even single-celled organisms,individual components are interconnected at multiscale levels to produce enormously complex biological networks that help these systems maintain homeostasis for development and environmental adaptation.Systems biology studies initially adopted network analysis to explore how relationships between individual components give rise to complex biological processes.Network analysis has been applied to dissect the complex connectivity of mammalian brains across different scales in time and space in The Human Brain Project.In plant science,network analysis has similarly been applied to study the connectivity of plant components at the molecular,subcellular,cellular,organic,and organism levels.Analysis of these multiscale networks contributes to our understanding of how genotype determines phenotype.In this review,we summarized the theoretical framework of plant multiscale networks and introduced studies investigating plant networks by various experimental and computational modalities.We next discussed the currently available analytic methodologies and multi-level imaging techniques used to map multiscale networks in plants.Finally,we highlighted some of the technical challenges and key questions remaining to be addressed in this emerging field. | Xi Zhang Yi Man Xiaohong Zhuang Jinbo Shen Yi Zhang Yaning Cui Meng Yu Jingjing Xing Guangchao Wang Na Lian Zijian Hu Lingyu Ma Weiwei Shen Shunyao Yang Huimin Xu Jiahui Bian Yanping Jing Xiaojuan Li Ruili Li Tonglin Mao Yuling Jiao Sodmergen Haiyun Ren Jinxing Lin | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,9: | 3 |
| 2 | Effect of immunopotentiator of the Chinese herbal medicine on the quantity of T lymphocyte in chicken显示文摘In order to study the mechanism of immunopotentiator,the quantity of T lymphocyte was observed.Total 240 1-day chikens were divided into 3 groups randomly:one contrast group and two groups being drunk immunopotentiator according to the concentration 10 mL·L^(-1) and 5 mL·L^(-1) lasting for 48 d.The number of T lymphocyte in blood was measured by E-rosette when the chikens were at 12-,24-,36-,and 48-day.The results showed that the percent of T lymphocyte in the trial group was obviously higher than that of the contrast,and the 10 mL·L^(-1) group was higher than that of the 5 mL·L^(-1) group;the quantity distribution of T lymphocyte in intestinal mucosa lymphoid tissue of 14-day,21-day chiken was surveyed in the contrast group and the 10 mL·L^(-1) group with the method of routine histology-slices and ANAE,the results showed that the quantity of T lymphocyte in the 10 mL·L^(-1) group was significantly higher than that of the contrast,which indicated that immunopotentiator increased markedly the quantity of T lymphocyte,and the 10 mL·L^(-1) group was higher than that of the 5 mL·L^(-1) group. | SHI Qiumei SHEN Ping GAO Guisheng ZHAO Ruili TANG Shengling | 2007 | Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2007,14,2: | 1 |

| 5 | Apoptotic vesicles ameliorate lupus and arthritis via phosphatidylserine-mediated modulation of T cell receptor signaling显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)influence T cells in health,disease and therapy through messengers of intercellular communication including extracellular vesicles(EVs).Apoptosis is a mode of cell death that tends to promote immune tolerance,and a large number of apoptotic vesicles(apoVs)are generated from MSCs during apoptosis.In an effort to characterize these apoVs and explore their immunomodulatory potential,here we show that after replenishing them systemically,the apoV deficiency in Fas mutant mice and pathological lymphoproliferation were rescued,leading to the amelioration of inflammation and lupus activity.ApoVs directly interacted with CD4^(+)T cells and inhibited CD25 expression and IL-2 production in a dose-dependent manner.A broad range of Th1/2/17 subsets and cytokines including IFNγ,IL17A and IL-10 were suppressed while Foxp3^(+)cells were maintained.Mechanistically,exposed phosphatidylserine(PtdSer/PS)on apoVs mediated the interaction with T cells to disrupt proximal T cell receptor signaling transduction.Remarkably,administration of apoVs prevented Th17 differentiation and memory formation,and ameliorated inflammation and joint erosion in murine arthritis.Collectively,our findings unveil a previously unrecognized crosstalk between MSC apoVs and CD4^(+)T cells and suggest a promising therapeutic use of apoVs for autoimmune diseases. | Runci Wang Meng Hao Xiaoxing Kou Bingdong Sui Maria Laura Sanmillan Xiao Zhang Dawei Liu Jun Tian Wenjing Yu Chider Chen Ruili Yang Lingyun Sun Yi Liu Claudio Giraudo Deepak A.Rao Nan Shen Songtao Shi | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,7: | 1 |
| 6 | The Application of UAV-Based Hyperspectral Imaging to Estimate Crop Traits in Maize Inbred Lines显示文摘Crop traits such as aboveground biomass(AGB),total leaf area(TLA),leaf chlorophyll content(LCC),and thousand kernel weight(TWK)are important indices in maize breeding.How to extract multiple crop traits at the same time is helpful to improve the efficiency of breeding.Compared with digital and multispectral images,the advantages of high spatial and spectral resolution of hyperspectral images derived from unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)are expected to accurately estimate the similar traits among breeding materials.This study is aimed at exploring the feasibility of estimating AGB,TLA,SPAD value,and TWK using UAV hyperspectral images and at determining the optimal models for facilitating the process of selecting advanced varieties.The successive projection algorithm(SPA)and competitive adaptive reweighted sampling(CARS)were used to screen sensitive bands for the maize traits.Partial least squares(PLS)and random forest(RF)algorithms were used to estimate the maize traits.The results can be summarized as follows:The sensitive bands for various traits were mainly concentrated in the near-red and red-edge regions.The sensitive bands screened by CARS were more abundant than those screened by SPA.For AGB,TLA,and SPAD value,the optimal combination was the CARS-PLS method.Regarding the TWK,the optimal combination was the CARS-RF method.Compared with the model built by RF,the model built by PLS was more stable.This study provides guiding significance and practical value for main trait estimation of maize inbred lines by UAV hyperspectral images at the plot level. | Meiyan Shu Mengyuan Shen Jinyu Zuo Pengfei Yin Min Wang Ziwen Xie Jihua Tang Ruili Wang Baoguo Li Xiaohong Yang Yuntao Ma | 2021 | Plant Phenomics2021,3,1: | 1 |
| 7 | Design and aligner-assisted fast fabrication of a microfluidic platform for quasi-3D cell studies on an elastic polymer显示文摘While most studies of mechanical stimulation of cells are focused on two-dimensional(2D)and three-dimensional(3D)systems,it is rare to study the effects of cyclic stretching on cells under a quasi-3D microenvironment as a linkage between 2D and 3D.Herein,we report a new method to prepare an elastic membrane with topographic microstructures and integrate the membrane into a microfluidic chip.The fabrication difficulty lay not only in the preparation of microstructures but also in the alignment and bonding of the patterned membrane to other layers.To resolve the problem,we designed and assembled a fast aligner that is cost-effective and convenient to operate.To enable quasi-3D microenvironment of cells,we fabricated polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)microwell arrays(formed by micropillars of a few microns in diameter)with the microwell diameters close to the cell sizes.An appropriate plasma treatment was found to afford a coating-free approach to enable cell adhesion on PDMS.We examined three types of cells in 2D,quasi-3D,and 3D microenvironments;the cell adhesion results showed that quasi-3D cells behaved between 2D and 3D cells.We also constructed transgenic human mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs);under cyclic stretching,the visualizable live hMSCs in microwells were found to orientate differently from in a 3D Matrigel matrix and migrate differently from on a 2D flat plate.This study not only provides valuable tools for microfabrication of a microfluidic device for cell studies,but also inspires further studies of the topological effects of biomaterials on cells. | Yingning He Yue Yu Yuqian Yang Yexin Gu Tianjiao Mao Yang Shen Qiong Liu Ruili Liu Jiandong Ding | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,9: | 0 |

| 10 | Effects of co-exposure to lead and manganese on learning and memory deficits显示文摘Lead(Pb) and manganese(Mn) are common neurotoxins. However, individuals are subject to co-exposures in real life, and it is therefore important to study these metals in combination. Weaning Sprague-Dawley rats were given ad libitum access to drinking water solutions containing Pb(100 mg/L), Mn(2.5 mg/m L) or a mixture, and each treatment had its own minocycline(50 mg/(kg·day)) supplement group. The results showed a significant difference in spatial memory and induction levels of hippocampal long-term potentiation(LTP) in all exposure groups when compared with controls. The combined-exposure group exhibited the most pronounced effect when compared with each of the single-metal exposure groups.Microglia displayed activation at day 3 after exposure alone or in combination, while astrocytes showed activation at day 5, accompanied by decreased expression levels of GLAST,GLT-1, and GS. Furthermore, the levels of glutamate in the synaptic cleft increased significantly. When microglial activation was inhibited by minocycline, the activation of astrocytes and the expression of GLAST, GLT-1, and GS were both reversed. In addition, upon minocycline treatment, hippocampal LTP impairment and cognitive injury were significantly alleviated in each of the exposure groups. These results suggest that combined exposure to Pb and Mn can cause greater effects on cognition and synaptic plasticity when compared to single-metal exposure groups.
