Chromosome-scale genome assembly provides insights into the evolution and flavor synthesis of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims)显示文摘Passion fruit(Passiflora edulis Sims)is an economically valuable fruit that is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Here,we report an~1341.7Mb chromosome-scale genome assembly of passion fruit, with 98.91%(~1327.18Mb)of the assembly assigned to nine pseudochromosomes. The genome includes 23,171 protein-coding genes, and most of the assembled sequences are repetitive sequences, with long-terminal repeats(LTRs)being the most abundant.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that passion fruit diverged after Brassicaceae and before Euphorbiaceae.Ks analysis showed that two whole-genome duplication events occurred in passion fruit at 65 MYA and 12 MYA,which may have contributed to its large genome size.An integrated analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data showed that‘alpha-linolenic acid metabolism’,‘metabolic pathways’,and‘secondary metabolic pathways’were the main pathways involved in the synthesis of important volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in passion fruit, and this analysis identified some candidate genes, including GDP-fucose Transporter 1-like,Tetratricopeptide repeat protein 33,protein NETWORKED 4B isoform X1,and Golgin Subfamily A member 6-like protein 22.In addition,we identified 13 important gene families in fatty acid pathways and eight important gene families in terpene pathways.Gene family analysis showed that the ACX,ADH,ALDH,and HPL gene families, especially ACX13/14/15/20,ADH13/26/33,ALDH1/4/21,and HPL4/6,were the key genes for ester synthesis, while the TPS gene family, especially PeTPS2/3/4/24,was the key gene family for terpene synthesis. This work provides insights into genome evolution and flavor trait biology and offers valuable resources for the improved cultivation of passion fruit. | Zhiqiang Xia Dongmei Huang Shengkui Zhang Wenquan Wang Funing Ma Bin Wu Yi Xu Bingqiang Xu Di Chen Meiling Zou Huanyu Xu Xincheng Zhou Rulin Zhan Shun Song | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 15

Approach to the Geopolitical Influences of Great Powers in Southeast Asia: Case Studies of China and the US显示文摘A quantitative approach to the national geopolitical influence is helpful to provide a reference for national sustainable development on the international stage, based on describing national diplomatic capacity and overseas influence. Herein, this study proposes a complex geopolitical influence model, considering the affected nations' response. The geopolitical influences of great power in the affected nation are correlated with overall strength, the acceptance degree of the affected nation to the great power and the distance between both sides. Then, the geopolitical influences of China and the US in Southeast Asia countries are empirically analyzed from 2005 to 2015. The geopolitical influence of China in Southeast Asia has been largely growing for the past decades, accompanying with a constant trend of the US' effects. It is believed that China and the US can coexist peacefully in Southeast Asia to promote the regional development, and jointly create an open, inclusive and balanced regional cooperation architecture that benefits all nations in this region and great powers, through mutual political trust and economic beneficial cooperation. This study may contribute to advancing the policy debate and determining the optimal cooperation in pledging commitment to a new and sustainable model of great power relationship among the various regional geopolitical options. | QIN Qi CHENG Shengkui LI Fei ZHANG Shuwen WU Liang ZHANG Dan | 2019 | Chinese Geographical Science2019,29,2: | 3

Nutrient status of Populus euphratica growing in desert riparian forests of northwestern China显示文摘Seasonal and microhabitat variations of chemical constituents of foliar organic carbon(C),total nitrogen(N),total phosphorus(P),and total potassium(K),in Populus euphratica growing in desert riparian forests in northwestern China and their correlations were studied. Results show that ranges of C,N,P and K contents in the leaves of P.euphratica were 39.08% 46.16%,0.28% 2.81%,0.05% 0.18% and 0.35% 2.03%,with means of 43.51%,1.49%,0.102% and 1.17%,respectively.The ratio of C/N,C/P and N/P changed from 16.26 to 146.61,from 258.08 to 908.67 and from 2.89 to 26.67;the mean was 37.24,466.27 and 15.14,respectively.The mean N content was significantly lower than of deciduous trees in China, but the mean P content was nearly equivalent. The ratio of C/N was remarkably higher than of global land plants. The ratio of N/P indicated that growth of P.euphratica was jointly limited by N and P nutrient deficiency.During the growth season, total trends of leaf C,N,P and K contents decreased. The maximum appeared in May,and the minimum in September.Among microhabitats,C,N and K contents gradually increased from riparian lowland, flatland, sandpile,Gobi and dune, but C/N ratio was opposite, and P content was not apparent.Foliar C content was extremely, significantly and positively correlated with N and K contents, respectively. The relationships of N-K and P-K were both significantly positive. | ShengKui Cao Qi Feng JianHua Si XiaoYun Zhang GuangChao Cao KeLong Chen JingFu Zhu | 2012 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2012,4,4: | 0

Ecological footprint analysis on the traditional rice-fish agricultural area:a case study of Qingtian County,Zhejiang Province,China显示文摘Qingtian County of Zhejiang Province,China has maintained the traditional rice-fish agriculture for about 2,000 years and formed exceptional cultural heritage based on this kind of production mode,so it was selected by FAO as a pilot site for the rice-fish agricultural heritage systems in 2005.This research has applied the indicators of ecological footprint and biocapacity to monitor the environmental conditions of Qingtian County, aiming to find the impact that the traditional agricultural production mode and the local inhabitants lifestyle have placed on the local environmental conditions as well as the role they have played in maintaining ecological balance, cultural inheritance and regional sustainable development. Results show that Qingtian County is characterized by a nearly breakeven total ecological balance,as opposed to Zhejiang Province, the world and other agricultural regions. However, compared with another rice-fish agricultural region,Congjiang County which enjoys a considerable ecological reserve,Qingtian County has consumed a greater amount of environmental resources.Specifically, about half of the ecological footprint of Qingtian County can be attributed to the cropland(50.8%)while the CO2 area only accounts for 11.2%,which is dramatically different from that of the modern industrialized regions. And a vast of percentage of energy is caused by the combustion of fuelwood which not only requires the land to absorb the CO2 emission it has generated but also occupies the forest where it has been chopped. | Jiao Wenjun Min Qingwen Cheng Shengkui Zhang Dan Sun Yehong | 2009 | Ecological Economy2009,5,4: | 0

Combination of effective color information and machine learning for rapid prediction of soil water content显示文摘Soil water content(SWC)is one of the critical indicators in various fields such as geotechnical engineering and agriculture. To avoid the time-consuming,destructive,and laborious drawbacks of conventional SWC measurements, the image-based SWC prediction is considered based on recent advances in quantitative soil color analysis. In this study,a promising method based on the Gaussian-fitting gray histogram is proposed for extracting characteristic parameters by analyzing soil images, aiming to alleviate the interference of complex surface conditions with color information extraction. In addition,an identity matrix consisting of 32 characteristic parameters from eight color spaces is constituted to describe the multi-dimensional information of the soil images.Meanwhile,a subset of 10 parameters is identified through three variable analytical methods. Then, four machine learning models for SWC prediction based on partial least squares regression(PLSR),random forest(RF),support vector machines regression(SVMR),and Gaussian process regression(GPR),are established using 32 and 10 characteristic parameters, and their performance is compared. The results show that the characteristic parameters obtained by Gaussian-fitting can effectively reduce the interference from soil surface conditions. The RGB,CIEXYZ,and CIELCH color spaces and lightness parameters,as the inputs, are more suitable for the SWC prediction models.Furthermore,it is found that 10 parameters could also serve as optimal and generalizable predictors without considerably reducing prediction accuracy, and the GPR model has the best prediction performance(R^(2)≥0.95,RMSE≤2.01%,RPD≥4.95,and RPIQ≥6.37).The proposed image-based SWC predictive models combined with effective color information and machine learning can achieve a transient and highly precise SWC prediction, providing valuable insights for mapping soil moisture fields. | Guanshi Liu Shengkui Tian Guofang Xu Chengcheng Zhang Mingxuan Cai | 2023 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,9: | 0
