| 1 | Control of reactive dividing wall column for selective hydrogenation and separation of C3 stream显示文摘In our previous work, the reactive dividing wall column(RDWC) was proposed and proved to be effective for selective hydrogenation and separation of C3 stream. In the present paper, the dynamics and control of the proposed RDWC are investigated. Four control structures including composition and temperature controls are proposed. The feed forward controllers are employed in the four control strategies to shorten the dynamic response time, reduce the maximum deviations and offer an immediate adjustment. | 2 | Evaluation of purified recombinant spike fragments forassessment of the presence of serum neutralizing antibodiesagainst a variant strain of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus显示文摘Since 2010, variant strains of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV) have caused disasters in the pork industry. The spike(S) protein, as the major immunity-eliciting antigen, has previously been used for serological testing and has been found to correlate significantly with the results of the serum neutralization(SN) test. However, further evaluation of this method is needed as new epidemic strains of PEDV emerge. Hence, the main objective of this study was to assess sow sera and determine the correlation between enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) results(involving a newly isolated GDS01 virus-based ELISA and ELISAs based on seven recombinant fragments comprising overlapping S1 and partial S2 sequences) and SN titers. Furthermore, we determined the reliability of the ELISAs based on receiver operating characteristics(ROC) curve analyses. For the most promising ELISA, i.e., the SP4 ELISA, the correlation coefficient(r) and the area under curve(AUC) were determined to be 0.6113 and 0.8538, respectively. In addition, we analyzed the homology of the SP4 sequences obtained from different strains(including vaccine strains) and found that various strains showed a high degree of homology in this region. | 3 | Comparative mammalian cell cytotoxicity of wastewater with elevated bromide and iodide after chlorination,chloramination, or ozonation显示文摘Recycling wastewater is becoming more common as communities around the world try to better control their water resources against an increased frequency of either prolonged droughts or intense flooding. For communities in coastal areas, wastewaters may contain elevated levels of bromide(Br^-) and iodide(I^-) from seawater intrusion or high mineral content of source waters. Disinfection of such wastewater is mandatory to prevent the spread of pathogens, however little is known about the toxicity of wastewater after disinfection in the presence of Br^-and I^-. In this study we compared the induction of chronic cytotoxicity in mammalian cells in samples of municipal secondary wastewater effluent amended with elevated levels of Br^-/I^-after disinfection by chlorine, chloramines or ozone to identify which disinfection process generated wastewater with the lowest level of adverse biological response. Chlorination increased mammalian cell cytotoxicity by 5times as compared to non-disinfected controls. Chloramination produced disinfected wastewater that expressed 6.3 times more cytotoxicity than the non-disinfected controls and was 1.3 times more cytotoxic than the chlorinated samples. Ozonation produced wastewater with cytotoxicity comparable to the non-disinfected controls and was at least 4times less cytotoxic than the chlorine disinfected wastewaters. | 4 | Characterization of OP9 as authentic mesenchymal stem cell line显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent stem cells capable of differentiating into various cell types,including osteocytes,chondrocytes,adipocytes,myocytes,and tenocytes.However,the difficulty or failure in expanding the mouse MSCs in vitro greatly hampered important research in animal models.The OP9,a stromal cell line from mouse bone marrow,has hematopoietic supportive capacity.Here,we report that the OP9 has the immunophenotype (CD45-,CD11b-,FLK-1-,CD31-,CD34-,CD44+,CD29+,Sca-1+,CD86-,and MHCII-) identical to canonical mouse MSCs.The expression of CD140a+,CD140b+,α-SMA+ and Calponin+ suggested the perivascular origin of OP9.Functionally,the OP9 had strong clonogenic ability and could be induced into osteocytes,chondrocytes and adipocytes.The lymphocyte transformation test (LTT) and mixed leukocyte reaction (MLR) showed that the OP9 could suppress T lymphocyte proliferation stimulated by nonspecific mitogens (PHA) or allogeneic lymphocytes (BALB/c T cells).Finally,the migration of OP9 could be efficiently induced by bFGF,IGF-1,IL-3,PDGF-BB,TGF-β1 and TGF-β3.In conclusion,the OP9 were bona fide MSCs,and such homogenous cell line will be helpful to delineate biological features of MSCs at the stem cell level. | Jiao Gao Xin-Long Yan Ren Li Yi Liu Wenyan He Shengkun Sun Yu Zhang Bing Liu Jiaxiang Xiong Ning Mao 1 | 2010 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,7: | 3 |
| 5 | I-V and C-V properties of TiO_2 thin film by pulsed-laser reactive deposition显示文摘TiO-2 thin films have bee deposited on p-Si(111) substrates by pulsed-laser ablation of metallic Ti target in the O-3 ambient. The current-voltage and capacitance-voltage of the Al/TiO-2/Si capacitors are measured. The results show that the dielectric constant of thin film after being annealed at 700℃ is found to be 46, and the border trap density and the interface state density at the TiO-2/p-Si interface are 1.8×10 12 cm -2 and 2×10 12 eV -1·cm -2, respectively. | 13 | Control structure comparison for three-product Petlyuk column显示文摘The focus of this paper is to investigate different control structures(single-loop PI control) for a dividing wall(Petlyuk) column for separating ethanol, n-propanol and n-butanol. Four control structures are studied. All the results are simulations based on Aspen Plus. Control structure 1(CS1) is stabilizing control structure with only temperature controllers. CS2, CS3 and CS4, containing also composition controllers, are introduced to reduce the steady state composition deviations. CS2 adds a distillate composition controller(CCDB) on top of CS1. CS3 is much more complicated with three temperature-composition cascade controllers and in addition a selector to the reboiler duty to control the maximum controller output of light impurity composition control in side stream and bottom impurity control in the prefractionator. CS4 adds another high selector to control the light impurity in the sidestream. | 16 | Study on deformation mechanism of Ti-2Al-2.5Zr alloy tube in the flattening test显示文摘The flattening test,using one pair paralleled plates to flatten tube structure radially,is generally employed to examine the ductility of tube used in once through steam generator(OTSG).This study focuses on the stress condition and deformation mechanism analysis on the concentrated stress regions of Ti-2 Al-2.5 Zr alloy tube during the flattening test.Firstly,the finite element analysis was performed using the commercial software ABAQUS to determine the stress condition.Secondly,the Electron BackScattered Diffraction(EBSD)was implemented to observe the microstructure evolution of Ti-2 Al-2.5 Zr alloy.Finally,Schmid law was employed to analyze the activated deformation mechanism under condition of the complex stress.It was found that the condition of the complex stress in stress concentration regions,including tension and compression regions,can be simplified into two directional stresses condition.In grains whose c-axis is nearly towards TD and ND,the strain is mainly accommodated by prismatic slip,whereas in grains whose c-axis deviates about 45°from ND to TD mainly by basal slip.The{10-12}extensive twin and corresponding parent grain orientation mainly relied on the stress condition.Additionally,the intergranular twin pairs connected at common grain boundaries(GBs)with high strain compatibility were found at low angle GBs,which were activated under a combination of macro stress and strain compatibility effect. | Shengkun Wang Gang Jin Yuntao Wu Xiao Liu Gang Chen | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,31: | 1 |
| 17 | Growth and Transcriptomics Analysis ofMichelia macclurei Dandy Plantlets with Different LED Quality Treatments显示文摘Michelia macclurei Dandy is a significant tree species that has extensive cultivation for forestry and horticulture purposes in southern China,owing to its economic and practical importance.Light quality influences plantlet growth and development during tissue culture.However,the growth characteristic and molecular regulation of M.macclurei under different light quality conditions are not well understood yet.In this study,we investigated the morphological,chlorophyll content,and transcriptomic responses of M.macclurei plantlets under different light-emitting diode(LED)qualities,including white,blue,and red light.The results showed that blue light significantly increased plant height(21.29%)and leaf number(18.65%),while red light decreased plant height and leaf number by 7.53%and 16.49%,respectively.In addition,the plantlets’chlorophyll content and etiolation rate were significantly reduced by blue and red light quality compared to white light.Compared to white light,blue light had a negative effect,leading to decreased rooting rate(64.28%),root number(72.72%),and root length(75.86%).Conversely,red light had a positive effect,resulting in increased rooting rate(24.99%),root number(109.58%),and root length(72.72%).Transcriptome analysis identified 54 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)in three groups that consisted of blue light vs.white light(BL-vs-WL),red light vs.white light(RL-vs-WL),and red light vs.blue light(RL-vs-BL).Specifically,21,7,and 41 DEGs were identified in the three groups,respectively.The DEGs found in the RL-vs-WL and BL-vs-WL groups were involved in plant hormone signaling,nitrogen metabolism,and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathways,which suggests that M.macclurei plantlets adapt to the changes of light quality via modulating gene expression.Overall,our study provides valuable insights for understanding the molecular and morphological responses of M.macclurei plantlets under different light qualities. | Zhaoli Chen Ying Liu Bingshan Zeng Qingbin Jiang Shengkun Wang Xiangyang Li | 2023 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,10: | 0 |
| 18 | Toxicity-oriented water quality engineering显示文摘The fundamental goal of water quality engineering is to ensure water safety to humans and the environment.Traditional water quality engineering consists of monitoring,evaluation,and control of key water quality parameters.This approach provides some vital insights into water quality,however,most of these parameters do not account for pollutant mixtures-a reality that terminal water users face,nor do most of these parameters have a direct connection with the human health safety of waters.This puts the real health-specific effects of targeted water pollutant monitoring and engineering control in question.To focus our attention to one of the original goals of water quality engineering-human health and environmental protection,we advocate here the toxicity-oriented water quality monitoring and control.This article presents some of our efforts towards such goal.Specifically,complementary to traditional water quality parameters,we evaluated the water toxicity using high sensitivity toxicological endpoints,and subsequently investigated the performance of some of the water treatment strategies in modulating the water toxicity.Moreover,we implemented the toxicity concept into existing water treatment design theory to facilitate toxicity-oriented water quality control designs.Suggestions for the next steps are also discussed.We hope our work will intrigue water quality scientists and engineers to improve and embrace the mixture water pollutant and toxicological evaluation and engineering control. | Shengkun Dong Chenyue Yin Xiaohong Chen | 2020 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,5: | 0 |
