1Insecticidal activity of residual Bt protein at the second trophic level显示文摘Measurements were taken of Bt protein expressed in the leaves of transgenic cotton (Gos- sypium hirsutum) transformed with a synthesized Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) cry1A gene and its persistent level in larval bodies and faeces of a non-targeted insect pest, beet armyworm (Spodoptera exigua). We performed enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and bioassays using neonate larvae of cot- ton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera) to detect the insecticidal activity of residual Bt protein at the sec- ond trophic level. The results showed that Bt protein content in functional leaves was different at various developmental stages and was different among plants at the same stage. Even though Bt protein concentration in the larval bodies and faeces de- creased 97.5%―99% compared to that found in cotton leaves subsequently fed to beet armyworm larvae, it still had a lethal effect on neonate cotton bollworm larvae. Therefore, Bt protein present at the second trophic level had insecticidal activity. 4Isolation and identification of respiratory tract and intestinal microflora of Meriones meridianus in a conventional animal facility显示文摘Background: Culturable bacterial species from the respiratory tract and ileocecal junction of Meriones meridianus(midday gerbils) captured in the Xinjiang Luntai area were isolated and identified to confirm the microflora and develop approaches for biological purification of laboratory animals and relevant microbial precautions.Methods: Bacteria from respiratory tracts and ileocecal junctions of 30 wild M. meridianus were harvested and isolated by inoculation into culture media. Isolated strains were confirmed by mass spectrometry and 16 S rRNA sequencing.Results: Thirty-nine bacterial species from 20 families and 27 genera were identified and isolated from wild M. meridianus. Typical bacteria were Enterobacteriaceae,Enterococcus, and Staphylococcus aureus, and the most common microflora were Vibrio, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Conclusion: Wild M. meridianus carries multiple bacteria, most of which are pathogenic or conditional pathogens. 5Linux Kernel Data Races in Recent 5 Years显示文摘Data races are increasingly seen as concurrency bugs and they are difficult to reproduce and diagnose in parallel programs. Linux kernel is a large-scale software system, in which intensive thread-level parallelism and non-deterministic thread interleaving are more prone to race conditions. This paper conducts an investigation of real Linux kernel data races in recent 5 years. Our results show that there are about 500 real kernel data races reported and fixed in recent 5 years. File systems and drivers among all modules hold a much higher percentage of race conditions than other modules.
