1T cell–associated immunoregulation and antiviral effect of oxymatrine in hydrodynamic injection HBV mouse model显示文摘Although oxymatrine(OMT) has been shown to directly inhibit the replication of hepatitis B virus(HBV) in vitro, limited research has been done with this drug in vivo. In the present study, the antiviral effect of OMT was investigated in an immunocompetent mouse model of chronic HBV infection.The infection was achieved by tail vein injection of a large volume of DNA solution. OMT(2.2, 6.7 and20 mg/kg) was administered by daily intraperitoneal injection for 6 weeks. The efficacy of OMT was evaluated by the levels of HBV DNA, hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag), hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag)and hepatitis B core antigen(HBc Ag). The immunoregulatory activity of OMT was evaluated by serum ELISA and flow cytometry. Results shows that OMT at 20 mg/kg inhibited HBV replication, and it was more efficient than entecavir(ETV) in the elimination of serum HBs Ag and intrahepatic HBc Ag. Inaddition, OMT accelerated the production of interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in a dose-dependent manner in CD4^+T cells. Our findings demonstrate the beneficial effects of OMT on the enhancement of immunological function and in the control of HBV antigens. 3A review of trachoma history in China: research, prevention, and control显示文摘Trachoma is one of the most widespread blinding eye diseases, which is harmful to human visual health. The efforts to prevent and control trachoma in China can be divided into three periods, i.e., highly epidemic period, research on pathogenesis and control of trachoma, and blinding trachoma elimination and epidemiological evaluation. In 1956, Prof. Feifan Tang and Xiaolou Zhang first discovered and isolated Chlamydia trachomatis, which clarified the cause of trachoma, and kick-started a fresh chapter in trachoma research, prevention, and control around the world. Although, the prevalence of trachoma differed in different areas, the average prevalence once exceeded 50% and was as high as 90% in some areas before and at early liberation of China. Therefore, the government-led efforts were made to comprehensively prevent and control trachoma, including development of National Plan for the Prevention and Control of Trachoma, nationwide screening and treatment of trachoma, implementation of National Patriotic Health Campaign and improvement of water supply and lavatories. After decades of effort, China reached the goal of eliminating blinding trachoma in 2015. China has gained remarkable achievements in the prevention and treatment of trachoma, making outstanding contributions toward the goal of eliminating trachoma worldwide. 4Simultaneous pyridine biodegradation and nitrogen removal in an aerobic granular system显示文摘Simultaneous pyridine biodegradation and nitrogen removal were successfully achieved in a sequencing batch reactor(SBR) based on aerobic granules. In a typical SBR cycle, nitritation occurred obviously after the majority of pyridine was removed, while denitrification occurred at early stage of the cycle when oxygen consumption was aggravated. The effect of several key operation parameters, i.e., air flow rate, influent NH_4^+-N concentration,influent p H and pyridine concentration, on nitritation, pyridine degradation and total nitrogen(TN) removal, was systematically investigated. The results indicated that high air flow rate had a positive effect on both pyridine degradation and nitritation but a negative impact of overhigh air flow rate. With the increase of NH_4^+ dosage, both nitritation and TN removal could be severely inhibited. Slightly alkaline condition, i.e., pH 7.0–8.0, was beneficial for both pyridine degradation and nitritation. High pyridine dosage often resulted in the delay of both pyridine degradation and nitritation. Besides, extracellular polymeric substances production was affected by air flow rate, NH_4^+ dosage, pyridine dosage and p H.In addition, high-throughput sequencing analysis demonstrated that Bdellovibrio and Paracoccus were the dominant species in the aerobic granulation system. 5Zanthoxylum-specific whole genome duplication and recent activity of transposable elements in the highly repetitive paleotetraploid Z.bungeanum genome显示文摘Zanthoxylum bungeanum is an important spice and medicinal plant that is unique for its accumulation of abundant secondary metabolites,which create a characteristic aroma and tingling sensation in the mouth.Owing to the high proportion of repetitive sequences,high heterozygosity,and increased chromosome number of Z.bungeanum,the assembly of its chromosomal pseudomolecules is extremely challenging.Here,we present a genome sequence for Z.bungeanum,with a dramatically expanded size of 4.23 Gb,assembled into 68 chromosomes.This genome is approximately tenfold larger than that of its close relative Citrus sinensis.After the divergence of Zanthoxylum and Citrus,the lineage-specific whole-genome duplication event q-WGD approximately 26.8 million years ago(MYA)and the recent transposable element(TE)burst~6.41 MYA account for the substantial genome expansion in Z.bungeanum.The independent Zanthoxylum-specific WGD event was followed by numerous fusion/fission events that shaped the genomic architecture.Integrative genomic and transcriptomic analyses suggested that prominent speciesspecific gene family expansions and changes in gene expression have shaped the biosynthesis of sanshools,terpenoids,and anthocyanins,which contribute to the special flavor and appearance of Z.bungeanum.In summary,the reference genome provides a valuable model for studying the impact of WGDs with recent TE activity on gene gain and loss and genome reconstruction and provides resources to accelerate Zanthoxylum improvement.Shijing Feng Zhenshan Liu Jian Cheng Zihe Li Lu Tian Min Liu Tuxi Yang Yulin Liu Yonghong Liu He Dai Zujun Yang Qing Zhang Gang Wang Jisen Zhang Huifeng Jiang Anzhi Wei 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:5
6Etiological characteristics of chlamydia trachoma conjunctivitis of Primary Boarding School students in the Qinghai Tibetan area显示文摘The aim of this study was to investigate the etiological characteristics of Chlamydia trachomatis conjunctivitis among resident students at primary schools in the Qinghai Tibetan area in order to understand the distribution of C. trachomatis and other pathogenic microorganisms, to detect the isolation rate of infectious pathogens, and to provide an evidence for further targeted efforts in the prevent of sporadic trachoma efforts. From two primary schools in Qinghai Province, ocular samples from 35 students who were clinically diagnosed as trachoma cases and 60 normal controls were obtained by swabbing their upper eyelids and lower conjunctival sacs. Samples were preserved at 4°C and airlifted to Beijing Tongren Hospital within 24 h. Real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was used to screen for C. trachomatis, and nested PCR was used to amplify a fragment of the omp A gene for serotype confirmation. Bacterial cultivation and sensitivity tests were conducted based on the 2015 version of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute. Adenovirus, herpes simplex virus, cytomegalovirus, and Epstein-Barr virus were screened by RT-PCR. Among the 35 students with trachoma, 8 came from the Jianshetang Primary School and 27 came from the Central Primary School. Two novel C. trachomatis B serotypes(Gen Bank accession numbers KU737520 and KU737521) were detected based on a sequence analysis of the omp A gene. Single C. trachomatis infections accounted for 42.86%(9/21) of the cases, and infections with multiple bacteria, particularly Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae, accounted for the remaining 57.14%(12/21). Of the 14 C. trachomatis-negative samples, one was positive for adenoviral infection(serotype D) and 13 were positive for bacterial infections(H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, S. pneumoniae, S. aureus, streptococci other than S. pneumoniae, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Corynebacterium, and Arthrobacterium). 7Mechanism underlying the protective effect of Kaixin Jieyu Fang on vascular depression following cerebral white matter damage显示文摘The Chinese compound Kaixin Jieyu Fang can be used to treat vascular depression;however,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.This study established a rat model of chronic cerebral ischemia-caused white matter damage by ligation of the bilateral common carotid arteries.Rats received daily intragastric administration of a suspension of Kaixin Jieyu Fang powder.After 3,7and 21 days of treatment,the degree of white matter damage in the cerebral ischemia rat model was alleviated,Bcl-2 protein and mRNA expression in brain tissue increased,and Bax protein and mRNA expression decreased.These results indicate that Kaixin Jieyu Fang can alleviate cerebral white matter damage,and the underlying mechanism is associated with regulation of Bcl-2/Bax protein and mRNA expression,which is one of possible mechanism behind the protective effect of Kaixin Jieyu Fang against vascular depression.Ying Zhang Shijing Huang Yanyun Wang Junhua Pan Jun Zheng Xianhui Zhang Yuxia Chen Duojiao Li 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,1:4
8Triggering in-plane defect cluster on MoS_(2) for accelerated dinitrogen electroreduction to ammonia显示文摘Electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) is an alternative promising manner for sustainable N2 fixation with low-emission. The major challenge for developing an efficient electrocatalyst is the cleaving of the stable Ntriple bondN triple bonds. Herein, we design a new MoS_(2) with in-plane defect cluster through a bottom-up approach for the first time, where the defect cluster is composed of three adjacent S vacancies. The well-defined in-plane defect clusters could contribute to the strong chemical adsorption and activation towards inert nitrogen, achieving an excellent eNRR performance with an ammonia yield rate of 43.4 ± 3 μg h^(−1) mgcat.^(−1) and a Faradaic efficiency of 16.8 ± 2% at −0.3 V (vs. RHE). The performance is much higher than that of MoS_(2) with the edge defect. Isotopic labeling confirms that N atoms of produced NH4+ originate from N2. Furthermore, the in-plane defect clusters realized the alternate hydrogenation of nitrogen in a side-on way to synthesize ammonia. 9Trace elements and rare earth elements in wet deposition of Lijiang,Mt.Yulong region,southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘In order to investigate the compositions and wet deposition fluxes of trace elements and rare earth elements(REEs) in the precipitation of the southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, 38 precipitation samples were collected from March to August in 2012 in an urban site of Lijiang city in the Mt. Yulong region. The concentrations of most trace elements and REEs were higher during the non-monsoon season than during the monsoon season,indicating that the lower concentrations of trace elements and REEs observed during monsoon had been influenced by the dilution effect of increased precipitation. The concentrations of trace elements in the precipitation of Lijiang city were slightly higher than those observed in remote sites of the Tibetan Plateau but much lower than those observed in the metropolises of China, indicating that the atmospheric environment of Lijiang city was less influenced by anthropogenic emissions, and, as a consequence, the air quality was still relatively good. However, the results of enrichment factor and principal component analysis revealed that some anthropogenic activities(e.g., the increasing traffic emissions from the rapid development of tourism) were most likely important contributors to trace elements, while the regional/local crustal sources rather than anthropogenic activities were the predominant contributors to the REEs in the wet deposition of Lijiang city. Our study was relevant not only for assessing the current status of the atmospheric environment in the Mt. 10Investigation of the hydrodynamics of slug flow in airlift pumps显示文摘A slug flow model considering the dispersed bubbles entrained from the tail of Taylor bubble(TB) and recoalesced with the successive TB was proposed. Experiment was conducted to test the validity of this model by using a high-speed camcorder and particle image velocimetry(PIV). It was found that the model was valid for predicting the characteristics of slug flow in airlift pump within average error of 14%. 11Defect passivation by nontoxic biomaterial yields 21% efficiency perovskite solar cells显示文摘Defect passivation is one of the most important strategies to boost both the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells(PSCs).Here,nontoxic and sustainable forest-based biomaterial,betulin,is first introduced into perovskites.The experiments and calculations reveal that betulin can effectively passivate the uncoordinated lead ions in perovskites via sharing the lone pair electrons of hydroxyl group,promoting charge transport.As a result,the power conversion efficiencies of the p-i-n planar PSCs remarkably increase from 19.14%to 21.15%,with the improvement of other parameters.The hydrogen bonds of betulin lock methylamine and halogen ions along the grain boundaries and on the film surface and thus suppress ion migration,further stabilizing perovskite crystal structures.These positive effects enable the PSCs to maintain 90%of the initial efficiency after 30 days in ambient air with 60%±5%relative humidity,75%after 300 h aging at 85℃,and 55%after 250 h light soaking,respectively.This work opens a new pathway for using nontoxic and low-cost biomaterials from forest to make highly efficient and stable PSCs.Shaobing Xiong Tianyu Hao Yuyun Sun Jianming Yang Ruru Ma Jiulong Wang Shijing Gong Xianjie Liu Liming Ding Mats Fahlman Qinye Bao 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,4:2
12Embedding physics domain knowledge into a Bayesian network enables layer-by-layer process innovation for photovoltaics显示文摘Process optimization of photovoltaic devices is a time-intensive,trial-and-error endeavor,which lacks full transparency of the underlying physics and relies on user-imposed constraints that may or may not lead to a global optimum.Herein,we demonstrate that embedding physics domain knowledge into a Bayesian network enables an optimization approach for gallium arsenide(GaAs)solar cells that identifies the root cause(s)of underperformance with layer-by-layer resolution and reveals alternative optimal process windows beyond traditional black-box optimization.Our Bayesian network approach links a key GaAs process variable(growth temperature)to material descriptors(bulk and interface properties,e.g.,bulk lifetime,doping,and surface recombination)and device performance parameters(e.g.,cell efficiency).For this purpose,we combine a Bayesian inference framework with a neural network surrogate device-physics model that is 100×faster than numerical solvers.With the trained surrogate model and only a small number of experimental samples,our approach reduces significantly the time-consuming intervention and characterization required by the experimentalist.As a demonstration of our method,in only five metal organic chemical vapor depositions,we identify a superior growth temperature profile for the window,bulk,and back surface field layer of a GaAs solar cell,without any secondary measurements,and demonstrate a 6.5%relative AM1.5G efficiency improvement above traditional grid search methods.Zekun Ren Felipe Oviedo Maung Thway Siyu I.P.Tian Yue Wang Hansong Xue Jose Dario Perea Mariya Layurova Thomas Heumueller Erik Birgersson Armin G.Aberle Christoph J.Brabec Rolf Stangl Qianxiao Li Shijing Sun Fen Lin Ian Marius Peters Tonio Buonassisi 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:2
13Corneal subbasal nerve fiber regeneration in myopic patients after laser in situ keratomileusis显示文摘A total of 26 myopic patients(52 eyes) underwent laser in situ keratomileusis.In vivo confocal microscopy revealed that most of the regenerated corneal subbasal nerve fibers in the corneal flap originated from the stump of corneal subbasal nerve fibers outside the ablation zone and extended towards the center of the cornea in all patients.Meanwhile,new fibers were also found to directly regenerate from deep in the stroma in some cases.Approximately 94% of regenerated corneal subbasal nerve fibers(73/78 eyes) regrew vertically into the peripheral central 6-mm circle area 1 month after surgery,78%(28/36 eyes) grew into the central 3-6 mm area at 2 months,and 23% into the central 3-mm circle area at 3 months.In addition,there was no significant difference in corneal subbasal nerve fiber regenerative capacity between the basic fibroblast growth factor group and the 20%(v/v) deproteinized extract of calf blood group.The majority of corneal subbasal nerve fiber regeneration occurred from the stump of corneal subbasal nerve fibers outside the corneal flap,and the remaining growth occurred deep within the stroma.Shijing Deng Mengmeng Wang Fengju Zhang Xuguang Sun Wenbo Hou Ning Guo 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,20:1

15UV light-induced oxygen doping in graphitic carbon nitride with suppressed deep trapping for enhancement in CO_(2) photoreduction activity显示文摘While photoreduction of CO_(2) to CH 4 is an effective means of producing value-added fuels,common pho-tocatalysts have poor activity and low selectivity in photocatalytic CO_(2)-reduction processes.Even though creating defects is an effective photocatalyst fabrication route to improve photocatalytic activity,there are some challenges with the facile photocatalyst synthesis method.In this work,an O element is in-troduced into a graphitic carbon nitride(CN)skeleton through a precursory ultraviolet light irradiation pretreatment to increase the visible light absorption and enhance the carrier density of this modified non-metal CN photocatalyst;the charge transfer dynamics thereof are also studied through electrochem-ical tests,photoluminescence spectroscopy,and nanosecond transient absorption.We verify that the op-timized sample exhibits lower charge recombination and a suppressed 84 ns electron-trapping lifetime,compared to the 103 ns electron-trapping lifetime of the CN counterpart,and thereby contributes to ro-bust detrapping and a fast transfer of active electrons.Through density functional theory calculations,we find that the improved light absorption and increased electron density are ascribed to O-element doping,which enhances the CO_(2) adsorption energy and improves the CO_(2)-to-CH 4 photoreduction activity;it be-comes 17 times higher than that of the bare CN,and the selectivity is 3.8 times higher than that of CN.Moreover,the optimized sample demonstrates excellent cyclic stability in a 24-hour cycle test.Xiaolong Zhao Xiaoping Yi Wending Pan Yifei Wang Shijing Luo Yingguang Zhang Ruijie Xie Dennis Y.C.Leung 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,2:1
16Dry eye disease due to meibomian gland dysfunction treated with Pinggan Yuyin Qingre formula(平肝育阴清热方):a stratified randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy on improving the quality of meibum in patients suffer from dry eye disease(DED)due to meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD)with hyperactivity of Yang due to Yin deficiency pattern after being treated with Pinggan Yuyin Qingre formula(平肝育阴清热方,PGYYQR).METHODS:Totally 120 patients who met the inclusion criteria were included and stratified into three levels according to the level of MGD(1-3),and patients in each level was randomly allocated into the treatment group and control group according to a 1∶1 ratio.Both groups were treated with sodium hyaluronate eye drops,and the treatment group was also given PGYYQR granules.Both groups were treated continuously for eight weeks.The score of the properties of meibomian gland(MG)secretion,the score of the palpebral margins,the average noninvasive tear breakup time(NITBUTav),lipid layer thickness(LLT),and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome efficacy were compared between the two groups after treatment.RESULTS:A total of 116 cases were included in the statistical analysis.The differences were statistically significant in the score of the properties of MG secretion,the score of the palpebral margins,and NITBUTav between the two groups after treatment,the treatment group was superior to the control group;there was no evidence of a difference in LLT.In terms of TCM syndrome efficacy,the total effective rate was 84.7%in the treatment group and 50.9%in the control group,with the statistically significant difference.None of the included cases had adverse reactions.CONCLUSIONS:PGYYQR is effective in improving the quality of meibum,and the tear film stability which thereby relieving the ocular symptoms in MGD-related DED patients with hyperactivity of Yang due to Yin deficiency pattern.GAO Yinli LIAN Haihong DENG Shijing DUAN Ying ZHANG Peng WANG Zhiqun ZHANG Yang 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,4:1
17Design of a linear-rotary ultrasonic motor for optical focusing inspired by the bionic motion principles of the earthworms显示文摘Multi-motor configuration of multi-DOF(degree of freedom)optical system is a major source of redundant structure,putting a limitation on the simple and miniaturized design.Thus,a novel two-DOF ultrasonic motor(USM)is proposed to provide a feasible method of application in the lens autofocus of the optical system.The proposed USM operates by one longitudinal mode and two orthogonal bending modes,which is inspired by the bionic motion principle of the earthworms.The frequency degeneration among the three working modes is per-formed,and the working principle of the USM is verified via the FEM simulation.A prototype of the two-DOF USM is fabricated,and its mechanical output characteristics are tested.The experimental results indicate that the prototype achieves the maximum rotary and linear speeds of 3319.6 rpm and 57.6 mm/s,respectively.Furthermore,we demonstrate the result of a simple focusing experiment using the prototype and obtain a series of clear pictures,which verifies the feasibility of application in the optical focusing system.Yingzhi Wang Jie Deng Shijing Zhang He Li Weishan Chen Yingxiang Liu 2022International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials2022,13,2:0

20Solid-state Al-air battery with an ethanol gel electrolyte显示文摘Hydrogel electrolyte is especially suitable for solid-state Al-air batteries targeted for various portable applications, which may, however, lead to continuous Al corrosion during battery standby. To tackle this issue, an ethanol gel electrolyte is developed for Al-air battery for the first time in this work, by using KOH as solute and polyethylene oxide as gelling agent. The ethanol gel is found to effectively inhibit Al corrosion compared with the water gel counterpart, leading to stable Al storage. When assembled into an Al-air battery, the ethanol gel electrolyte achieves a much improved discharge lifetime and specific capacity, which are 5.3 and 4.1 times of the water gel electrolyte at 0.1 mA cm^(-2), respectively.By studying the gel properties, it is found that a lower ethanol purity can improve the battery power output, but at the price of decreased discharge efficiency. On the contrary, a higher polymer concentration will decrease the power output, but can bring extra benefit to the discharge efficiency. As for the gel thickness, a moderate value of 1 mm is preferred to balance the power output and energy efficiency.
