1Integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses revealed the distribution of saponins in Panax notoginseng显示文摘Panax notoginseng is famous for its important therapeutic effects. Saponins are bioactive compounds found in different parts and developmental stages of P. notoginseng plants. Thus, it is urgently to study saponins distribution in different parts and growth ages of P. notoginseng plants. In this study,potential biomarkers were found, and their chemical characteristic differences were revealed through metabolomic analysis. High-performance liquid chromatography data indicated the higher content of saponins(i.e., Rg1, Re, Rd, and Rb1) in the underground parts than that in the aerial parts. 20(S)-Protopanaxadiol saponins were mainly distributed in the aerial parts. Additionally, the total saponin content in the 3-year-old P. notoginseng plant(188.0 mg/g) was 1.4-fold higher than that in 2-year-old plant(130.5 mg/g). The transcriptomic analysis indicated the tissue-specific transcription expression of genes, namely, PnFPS, PnSS, PnSE1, PnSE2, and PnDS, which encoded critical synthases in saponin biosyntheses. These genes showed similar expression patterns among the parts of P. notoginseng plants.The expression levels of these genes in the flowers and leaves were 5.2 fold higher than that in the roots and fibrils. These results suggested that saponins might be actively synthesized in the aerial parts and transformed to the underground parts. 4Genome-wide signatures of the geographic expansion and breeding of soybean显示文摘Soybean is a leguminous crop that provides oil and protein. Exploring the genomic signatures of soybean evolution is crucial for breeding varieties with improved adaptability to environmental extremes. We analyzed the genome sequences of 2,214 soybeans and proposed a soybean evolutionary route, i.e., the expansion of annual wild soybean(Glycine soja Sieb. & Zucc.) from southern China and its domestication in central China, followed by the expansion and local breeding selection of its landraces(G. max(L.) Merr.). We observed that the genetic introgression in soybean landraces was mostly derived from sympatric rather than allopatric wild populations during the geographic expansion. Soybean expansion and breeding were accompanied by the positive selection of flowering time genes, including GmSPA3c. 13Combination of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine for functional constipation:A meta-analysis显示文摘To systematically assess the effectiveness and safety of using acupuncture with traditional Chinese medicine for functional constipation so as to provide the evidence-based data for clinical practice.Wanfang databases,CBM,VIP,CNKI,PubMed,Cochrane Library and EMbase were searched for trials based on randomization and control for use of acupuncture in combination with CHM for functional constipation published from the inception of the database to Dec.2019.We used the risk of bias of Cochrane Collaboration for literature quality assessment,extracted trial data in duplicate,and then assessed the risk of bias.The data were discussed by adopting Review Manager 5.3 program.A total of 22 RCTs with 2574 cases were retrieved.Meta-analysis showed that acupuncture with CHM could improve the clinical effectiveness(OR6.10,95%CI 4.72–7.87,P<0.00001);heterogeneity was not identified(Chi^(2)=32.84,P=0.43,I^(2)=2%),and the difference was statistically significant.Second-level outcomes(e.g.,defecation interval time(P<0.00001),Bristol Stool Scale(P=0.002),defecation difficulty(P=0.01)and accompanying symptoms(P<0.00001))in the treatment groups were significantly different after the acupuncture with CHM compared with control groups,whereas defecation symptoms were not significantly different(P=0.06).The use of acupuncture with CHM can significantly improve the clinical efficacy of functional constipation,ameliorate Bristol Stool Scale,defecation difficulty,defecation symptoms,and accompanying symptoms,as well as shorten the defecation interval time,with better safety.Dongxue Lu Feng Liu Jing Yan Haixia Liu Zhiguang Sun Bingyu Chen Shilin Zhu Fei Ge 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,4:1
14Design spherical particles of potassium peroxymonosulfate compound salt with high stability and good powder properties via an agglomeration-dissolution mechanism显示文摘With the outbreak of COVID-19,disinfection protection has become a necessary measure to prevent infection.As a new type of disinfectant,potassium peroxymonosulfate compound salt(PMS)has the advantages of good bactericidal effect,non-toxicity,high safety and stability.However,the current PMS products with irregular particle shapes lead to poor flowability,high hygroscopicity,poor stability of reactive oxygen species(ROS)and serious caking problems.In this work,an agglomeration-dissolution mechanism was designed to prepare spherical PMS particles with large size(>300μm)and high sphericity(up to 90%),effectively addressing the above problems.Shaping(dissolution and abrasion)is the key to improving sphericity,which is mainly controlled by the design of the heating mode,residence time and stirring rate.Compared with the irregular PMS particles,the large spherical particles present better flowability(angle of repose decreased by 35.80%,Carr's index decreased by 64.29%,Hausner's ratio decreased by 19.14%),lower hygroscopicity(decreased by 38.0%),lower caking ratio(decreased by 84.50%),and higher stability(the monthly loss of ROS was reduced by 61.68%).The agglomeration-dissolution mechanism demonstrates the crystallization,agglomeration,dissolution and abrasion process of inorganic salt crystals,providing an opportunity to prepare high-end inorganic crystal materials with high-quality morphologies.Shanshan Feng Changyou Yu Shilin Guo Jinbo Ouyang Fei Yin Xiaodong Zhang Yongjian Zhang Mingyang Chen Dandan Han Junbo Gong Jingkang Wang 2023Particuology2023,,9:0

17The Evaluation of Insertion and Deletion Polymorphism in Population and Personal Identification Amidst Chinese Populations显示文摘For comprehensive understanding of practical application and evaluation on the power of30 commonly used InDeis(Qiagen Investigator DIPplex®kit),we captured population data from 25 Chinese populations and employed F-statistics for population genetics analysis.The results indicated that the distributions of allelic frequencies among populations were in different levels.Furthermore,the phylogeny confoiming pairwise FST distances showed that the difierentiation of majority populations were consistent with their geographic locations and historic dispersals.We conduct the comprehensive correlation analysis between FST and heterozygosity of30 InDel loci and provided strong evidence for ongoing InDei loci selection.The Fst values of 30 InDels were calculated within 25 Chinese populations,and then,these loci were characterized definitely based on their roles in population genetics or individual identification.Data indicated that 17 InDels with FST<0.01 could be utilized regarding Chinese individual identification(total discrimination power=0.999985 and cumulative matching probability=0.00000009).We comprehensively reconstructed the population structure and filled the gap of evaluating the ability of InDels in personal as well as population identification.The application of InDel loci in the forensic area would convincingly promote the development matter of forensic population identification and personal discrimination.Hui Sun Caiyong Yin Lei Shang Chong Wang Kaiyuan Su Wanshui Li Feng Chen Shilin Li 2018Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine2018,4,3:0
18UNCERTAINTY ANALYSIS OF ROCK FAILURE BEHAVIOUR USING AN INTEGRATION OF THE PROBABILISTIC COLLOCATION METHOD AND ELASTO-PLASTIC CELLULAR AUTOMATON显示文摘The Karhunen-Loeve(KL) expansion and probabilistic collocation method(PCM)are combined and applied to an uncertainty analysis of rock failure behavior by integrating a selfdeveloped numerical method(i.e., the elastic-plastic cellular automaton(EPCA)). The results from the method developed are compared using the Monte Carlo Simulation(MCS) method. It is concluded that the method developed requires fewer collocations than MCS method to obtain very high accuracy and greatly reduces the computational cost. 19Whole-genome sequencing in medicinal plants:current progress and prospect显示文摘Advancements in genomics have dramatically accelerated the research on medicinal plants,and the development of herbgenomics has promoted the“Project of 1K Medicinal Plant Genome”to decipher their genetic code.However,it is difficult to obtain their high-quality whole genomes because of the prevalence of polyploidy and/or high genomic heterozygosity.Whole genomes of 123 medicinal plants were published until September 2022.These published genome sequences were investigated in this review,covering their classification,research teams,ploidy,medicinal functions,and sequencing strategies.More than 1,000 institutes or universities around the world and 50 countries are conducting research on medicinal plant genomes.Diploid species account for a majority of sequenced medicinal plants.The whole genomes of plants in the Poaceae family are the most studied.Almost 40%of the published papers studied species with tonifying,replenishing,and heat-cleaning medicinal effects.Medicinal plants are still in the process of domestication as compared with crops,thereby resulting in unclear genetic backgrounds and the lack of pure lines,thus making their genomes more difficult to complete.In addition,there is still no clear routine framework for a medicinal plant to obtain a high-quality whole genome.Herein,a clear and complete strategy has been originally proposed for creating a high-quality whole genome of medicinal plants.Moreover,whole genome-based biological studies of medicinal plants,including breeding and biosynthesis,were reviewed.We also advocate that a research platform of model medicinal plants should be established to promote the genomics research of medicinal plants.Yifei Pei Liang Leng Wei Sun Baocai Liu Xue Feng Xiwen Li Shilin Chen 2024Science China(Life Sciences)2024,67,2:0
20The Metasequoia genome and evolutionary relationships among redwoods显示文摘Redwood trees(Sequoioideae),including Metasequoia glyptostroboides(dawn redwood),Sequoiadendron giganteum(giant sequoia),and Sequoia sempervirens(coast redwood),are threatened and widely recognized iconic tree species.Genomic resources for redwood trees could provide clues to their evolutionary relationships.Here,we report the 8-Gb reference genome of M.glyptostroboides and a comparative analysis with two related species.More than 62%of the M.glyptostroboides genome is composed of repetitive sequences.Clade-specific bursts of long terminal repeat retrotransposons may have contributed to genomic differentiation in the three species.The chromosomal synteny between M.glyptostroboides and S.giganteum is extremely high,whereas there has been significant chromosome reorganization in S.sempervirens.Phylogenetic analysis of marker genes indicates that S.sempervirens is an autopolyploid,and more than 48%of the gene trees are incongruent with the species tree.Results of multiple analyses suggest that incomplete lineage sorting(ILS)rather than hybridization explains the inconsistent phylogeny,indicating that genetic variation among redwoods may be due to random retention of polymorphisms in ancestral populations.Functional analysis of ortholog groups indicates that gene families of ion channels,tannin biosynthesis enzymes,and transcription factors for meristem maintenance have expanded in S.giganteum and S.sempervirens,which is consistent with their extreme height.As a wetland-tolerant species,M.glyptostroboides shows a transcriptional response to flooding stress that is conserved with that of analyzed angiosperm species.Our study offers insights into redwood evolution and adaptation and provides genomic resources to aid in their conservation and management.Fangfang Fu Chi Song Chengjin Wen Lulu Yang Ying Guo Xiaoming Yang Ziqiang Shu Xiaodong Li Yangfan Feng Bingshuang Liu Mingsheng Sun Yinxiao Zhong Li Chen Yan Niu Jie Chen Guibin Wang Tongming Yin Shilin Chen Liangjiao Xue Fuliang Cao 2023Plant Communications2023,4,6:0
