1Effect of Silicon on Growth, Physiology, and Cadmium Translocation of Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) in Cadmium-Contaminated Soil显示文摘Silicon(Si) offers beneficial effect on plants under cadmium(Cd) stress such as promoting plant growth and increasing resistance to heavy metal toxicity. In this study, a pot experiment was performed to study the role of Si in alleviating Cd toxicity in tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum L.) plants on a yellow soil taken from Guiyang, China. Nine treatments consisting of three concentrations of Cd(0, 1, and 5 mg kg^(-1)) together with three Si levels(0, 1, and 4 g kg^(-1)) were established. Plant growth parameters, Cd concentration,and the malondialdehyde(MDA), chlorophyll, and carotenoid contents were determined 100 d after transplanting of tobacco seedlings.Application of exogenous Si enhanced the growth of tobacco plants under Cd stress. When 5 mg kg^(-1) Cd was added, Si addition at 1 and 4 g kg^(-1) increased root, stem, and leaf biomass by 26.1%–43.3%, 33.7%–43.8%, and 50.8%–69.9%, respectively, compared to Si addition at 0 g kg^(-1). With Si application, the transfer factor of Cd in tobacco from root to shoot under both 1 and 5 mg kg^(-1) Cd treatments decreased by 21%. The MDA contents in the Si-treated tobacco plants declined by 5.5%–17.1% compared to those in the non-Si-treated plants, indicating a higher Cd tolerance. Silicon application also increased the chlorophyll and carotenoid contents by 33.9%–41% and 25.8%–47.3% compared to the Cd only treatments. 3Extraordinary characteristics for one-dimensional parity-time-symmetric periodic ring optical waveguide networks显示文摘In this paper, we design a one-dimensional(1D) parity-time-symmetric periodic ring optical waveguide network(PTSPROWN) and investigate its extraordinary optical characteristics. It is found that quite different from traditional vacuum/dielectric optical waveguide networks, 1D PTSPROWN cannot produce a photonic ordinary propagation mode, but can generate simultaneously two kinds of photonic nonpropagation modes: attenuation propagation mode and gain propagation mode. It creates neither passband nor stopband and possesses no photonic band structure. 4Response of nitrogen mineralization dynamics and biochemical properties to litter amendments to soils of a poplar plantation显示文摘Understanding the impact of plant litters on soil nitrogen(N) dynamics could facilitate development of management strategies that promote plantation ecosystem function.Our objective was to evaluate the effects of different litter types on N mineralization and availability,microbial biomass, and activities of L-asparaginase and odiphenol oxidase(o-DPO) in soils of a poplar(Populus deltoides) plantation through 24 weeks of incubation experiments.The tested litters included foliage(F), branch(B), or root(R) of poplar trees, and understory vegetation(U) or a mixture of F, B, and U(M).Litter amendments led to rapid N immobilization during the first 4 weeks of incubation, while net N mineralization was detected in all tested soils from 6 to 24 weeks of incubation, with zeroorder reaction rate constants(k) ranging from 7.7 to9.6 mg N released kg^(-1) soil wk^(-1).Moreover, litter addition led to increased microbial biomass carbon(C) 49–128% and increased MBC:MBN ratio by 5–92%,strengthened activities of L-asparaginase and o-DPO by14–74%; Up to about 37 kg N ha^(-1) net increase in mineralized N in litter added soils during 24 weeks of incubation suggests that adequate poplar and understory litter management could lead to reduced inputs while facilitate sustainable and economic viable plantation production.Xiaomin Ge Shiping Deng Ling Zhu Yong Li Zhiyuan Jia Ye Tian Luozhong Tang 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,4:2

8High-stability spherical lanthanide nanoclusters for magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘High-nuclear lanthanide clusters have shown great potential for the administration of high-dose mononuclear gadolinium chelates in magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).The development of high-nuclear lanthanide clusters with excellent solubility and high stability in water or solution has been challenging and is very important for expanding the performance of MRI.We used N-methylbenzimidazole-2-methanol(HL)and LnCl_3·6H_2O to synthesize two spherical lanthanide clusters,Ln_(32)(Ln=Ho,Ho_(32);and Ln=Gd,Gd_(32)),which are highly stable in solution.The 24 ligands L-are all distributed on the periphery of Ln32and tightly wrap the cluster core,ensuring that the cluster is stable.Notably,Ho_(32)can remain highly stable when bombarded with different ion source energies in HRESI-MS or immersed in an aqueous solution of different pH values for 24 h.The possible formation mechanism of Ho_(32)was proposed to be Ho(Ⅲ),(L)-and H_(2)O→Ho_(3)(L)_(3)/Ho_(3)(L)_(4)→Ho_(4)(L)_(4)/Ho_(4)(L)_(5)→Ho_(6)(L)_(6)/Ho_(6)(L)_(7)→Ho_(16)(L)_(19)→Ho_(28)(L)_(15)→Ho_(32)(L)_(24)/Ho_(32)(L)_(21)/Ho_(32)(L)_(23).To the best of our knowledge,this is the first study of the assembly mechanism of spherical high-nuclear lanthanide clusters.Spherical cluster Gd32,a form of highly aggregated Gd(Ⅲ),exhibits a high longitudinal relaxation rate(1 T,r_(1)=265.87 mM^(-1)·s^(-1)).More notably,compared with the clinically used commercial material Gd-DTPA,Gd_(32)has a clearer and higher-contrast T_(1)-weighted MRI effect in mice bearing 4T1 tumors.This is the first time that high-nuclear lanthanide clusters with high water stability have been utilized for MRI.High-nuclear Gd clusters containing highly aggregated Gd(Ⅲ)at the molecular level have higher imaging contrast than traditional Gd chelates;thus,using large doses of traditional gadolinium contrast agents can be avoided.Hai-Ling Wang Donglin Liu Jian-Hua Jia Jun-Liang Liu Ze-Yu Ruan Wei Deng Shiping Yang Si-Guo Wu Ming-Liang Tong 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:0

10Dissolution Characteristic Study on Dustfall in Citric显示文摘In this paper, the dissolution characteristics of Xining dustfall in citric acid solution was studied to evaluate the physical chemical change in acid conditions. pH along with conductivity was tested with time. FTIR, SEM and ICP analysis were applied to analyze the residuum and filtrate after 2 days’ dissolution experiment. It was shown in the pH/conductivity variation, solution’s pH rise sharply in the front 4 hours, then decrease slowly. After 4 hours, both the pH and conductivity become stable. Based on combined analysis of XRD and FTIR spectrum of dustfall before and after dissolution, that calcite and dolomite in dustfall are dissolved completely in the 0.05M citric acid solution in two days. Besides, amount of metal cations were extracted from the dustfall during the dissolution, including Ca2+,K+,Mg2+,Fe3+,Al3+,Si. In general, after the dissolution of dustall in citric acid, some minerals are dissolved and amount of metal elements are extracted. 11A trilayer process for the fabrication of Al phase qubits显示文摘Herein we develop an Al/AlOx/Al trilayer process,feasible to fabricate complex circuits with wiring crossovers,for the preparation of Al junctions and phase qubits.The AlOx layer is obtained by in situ thermal oxidation,which provides high-quality junction tunnel barriers.The Al junctions show a considerably low leakage current and the Josephson critical current density can be conveniently controlled in the range of a few to above 100 A/cm2,which is favorable in the phase qubit application.Macroscopic quantum tunneling,energy spectrum,energy relaxation time,Rabi oscillation,and Ramsey interference of the Al phase qubits are measured,demonstrating clearly quantum coherent dynamics with a timescale of 10 ns.Further improvements of the coherent dynamic properties of the device are discussed.XUE GuangMing YU HaiFeng TIAN Ye DENG Hui LIU WeiYang REN YuFeng YU HongWei ZHENG DongNing ZHAO ShiPing 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,12:0
