| 1 | An analytic study on the deflection of subway tunnel due to adjacent excavation of foundation pit显示文摘Predicting and estimating the response of subway tunnel to adjacent excavation of foundation pit is a research focus in the field of underground engineering.Based on the principle of two-stage method and incremental method, an analytic approach is suggested in this paper to solve this problem in an accurate and rapid way,and the upheavals of tunnel due to adjacent excavation are solved by analytic method. Besides, the presented method is used in the practical engineering case of Shenzhen Metro Line 11 and verified by numerical simulation and in situ measurement. Finally, a parametric analysis is performed to investigate the influence of different factors on tunnel's deflection. Some useful conclusions have been drawn from the research as below: The deflection results of tunnel obtained from analytic method are nearly consistent with the results getting from numerical analysis and measured data, which verified the accuracy and rationality of presented method. The excavation size has a significant impact on both the displacement values and influenced range of tunnel. However, the relative distance only impacts the displacement values of tunnel, but not the influenced range of tunnel. | 4 | Field study on performance of new technique of geosynthetic-reinforced and pile-supported embankment at bridge approach显示文摘Vehicle bumps at a bridge approach caused by the differential settlement between a bridge and an adjacent backfill embankment are one of the most difficult problems in geotechnical engineering. Large vehicle bumps make drivers uncomfortable and cause large impact loads on vehicles and the bridge abutment. A new ground-improvement technique called fixed-geosynthetic-reinforced and pile-supported embankment(FGT embankment) was developed and used to alleviate vehicle bumps at a trial bridge-approach site located in central China. To distribute the differential settlement between the bridge and adjacent backfill embankment over a long transition zone, the following three techniques were used at the trial bridge-approach site:(a) the FGT embankment,(b) conventional geosynthetic-reinforced and pile-supported embankment(CT embankment), and(c) geosynthetic-reinforced embankment without piles(GR embankment). The performance of all three techniques in the field trial was investigated by field measurements involving earth pressure cells, geosynthetic deformation sensors, and settlement gauges. The FGT and CT embankments exhibited better performance than the GR embankment. Compared with the CT embankment, the FGT embankment was more effective at ground improvement. At an elevation of 4.0 m from the base of the embankment, the pressures below the geosynthetic were smaller than those above the geosynthetic at the closest measurement point. | 15 | A construction strategy for a tunnel with big deformation显示文摘By integrating literature reviews, site observation, field monitoring, theoretical analysis, summarization, etc., a construction strategy was proposed and verified for tunneling with big deformation in this paper. The tunnel was in phyllite, shotcrete cracks and steel arch distortion were observed, and a big deformation with a maximum of 2.0 m was monitored during the initial stage of the construction. Through carefully examining the site observation and laboratory test results, a construction principle was established for the tunneling on the basic concept of maintaining the rock strength/stiffness and keeping the rock dry, by providing confinement pressure to the rock, reducing the rock exposure time, keeping water out of the tunnel, etc. To achieve the construction principle, a set of specific construction measures with 11 items was further proposed and applied to the construction. To check the effectiveness of the construction measures, field monitoring was carried out, which showed that the rock deformation was well controlled and the tunnel became stable. An allowable deformation was then determined using the Fenner formulae and the monitored data in order to guide further construction, which received a good result.
