| 3 | Avian influenza viruses suppress innate immunity by inducingtrans-transcriptional readthrough via SSU72显示文摘Innate immunity plays critical antiviral roles. The highly virulent avian influenza viruses (AIVs) H5N1, H7N9, and H5N6 can betterescape host innate immune responses than the less virulent seasonal H1N1 virus. Here, we report a mechanism by whichtranscriptional readthrough (TRT)-mediated suppression of innate immunity occurs post AIV infection. By using cell lines, mouselungs, and patient PBMCs, we showed that genes on the complementary strand (“trans” genes) influenced by TRT were involved inthe disruption of host antiviral responses during AIV infection. The trans-TRT enhanced viral lethality, and TRT abolishmentincreased cell viability and STAT1/2 expression. The viral NS1 protein directly bound to SSU72, and degradation of SSU72 inducedTRT. SSU72 overexpression reduced TRT and alleviated mouse lung injury. Our results suggest that AIVs infection induce TRT byreducing SSU72 expression, thereby impairing host immune responses, a molecular mechanism acting through the NS1-SSU72-trans-TRT-STAT1/2 axis. | 4 | IMPACT BEHAVIOR OF POLYVINYL ALCOHOL FIBER REINFORCED CEMENTITIOUS COMPOSITES BEAMS显示文摘The paper presents results of an investigation conducted to study the impact resistance of polyvinyl alcohol fiber reinforced cementitious composite (PVA-FRCC) beams containing silica fume and fly ash. PVA-FRCC beam specimens of size 100 × 100 × 400 mm were tested under impact loading. The specimen incorporated four different volume fractions i.e. 0, 0.5%, 1.0% and 2.0% of corrugated PVA fibers. Silica fume and fly ash were added for the specimens containing PVA fibers volume fraction of 2.0%. The drop-weight type impact tests were conducted on the test specimens and the number of blows of the hammer required to induce first visible crack and ultimate failure of the specimen were recorded. The results are presented in terms of number of blows required, impact ductility as well as impact energy at first crack and ultimate failure. | 5 | Management of traumatic peripheral artery pseudoaneurysm:A 10-year experience at a single center显示文摘Purpose: This study aimed to report our 10-year experience with the management of iatrogenic(penetrating trauma) and traumatic(blunt or penetrating trauma) peripheral artery pseudoaneurysms, based on data from a tertiary referral center.Methods: From January 2012 to December 2021, the medical records of consecutive patients with iatrogenic and traumatic peripheral artery pseudoaneurysms were retrospectively reviewed. Patient demographics, clinical features, imaging data, treatment details, and follow-up results were analyzed.Results: Sixty-one consecutive patients were included in this study;48(79%) were men and 13(21%) women,with a mean age of 49.4 ± 13.4 years(range 24–73 years). There were 42 patients(69%) who underwent open surgery, 18(29%) undergoing endovascular embolization or stent implantation, and one(2%) undergoing ultrasound-guided thrombin injection. All patients successfully underwent open or interventional treatment. The median follow-up was 46.8 months(2.5–117.9 months), and the overall reintervention rate was 10%. Of these,one(5%) patient in the interventional treatment group and five(12%) patients in the open surgery group underwent reintervention. The overall complication rate was 8%, with complications occurring only in the open surgery group. No deaths occurred in the peri-operative period.
