| 1 | Using an image segmentation and support vector machine method for identifying two locust species and instars显示文摘Locusts are agricultural pests around the world. To cognize how locust distribution density and community structure are related to the hydrothermal and vegetation growth conditions of their habitats and thereby providing rapid and accurate warning of locust invasions, it is important to develop efficient and accurate techniques for acquiring locust information. In this paper, by analyzing the differences between the morphological features of Locusta migratoria manilensis and Oedaleus decorus asiaticus, we proposed a semi-automatic locust species and instar information detection model based on locust image segmentation, locust feature variable extraction and support vector machine(SVM) classification. And we subsequently examined its applicability and accuracy based on sample image data acquired in the field. Locust image segmentation experiment showed that the proposed GrabCut-based interactive segmentation method can be used to rapidly extract images of various locust body parts and exhibits excellent operability. In a locust feature variable extraction experiment, the textural, color and morphological features of various locust body parts were calculated. Based on the results, eight feature variables were selected to identify locust species and instars using outlier detection, variable function calculation and principal component analysis. An SVM-based locust classification experiment achieved a semi-automatic detection accuracy of 96.16% when a polynomial kernel function with a penalty factor parameter c of 2 040 and a gamma parameter g of 0.5 was used. | 2 | Spatial and Temporal Evolution Characteristics of PM2.5 in China from 1998 to 2016显示文摘The rapid development of China’s economy and urbanization has given rise to noticeable environmental problems,among which the change of air quality has received extensive attention.The panel data of PM2.5(particles with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5μm or less)in 343 prefecture-level cities in China from 1998 to 2016 were statistically analyzed to reveal the characteristics of the temporal evolution and spatial variation of China’s air quality in the past two decades.The results show that:1)the overall deterioration trend of air quality is obvious throughout the country.The variation trend of PM2.5 was divided into three phases:rapid-growth phase(1998–2007),lag phase(2006–2011)and mildly-incremental phase(2012–2016),with their average growth rates of 7.19%,-3.59%and 0.52%,respectively.2)The spatial difference of PM2.5 values in China increased significantly with time.Since 2003,the high-value area in the east has expanded rapidly,and polarization became much more pronounced.The change rate of PM2.5 is high in the east and west and low in the middle.The change rates of most areas in the west exceed more than 80%,and in the east lie somewhere between 40%and 60%.In the midlands,the change rate is not large and some regions even show a negative growth.3)The change rate of PM2.5 is also high in areas with higher values.However,in regions where the change rate of PM2.5 is high,the value of PM2.5 is not always high.The high change rate is mainly attributable to the low base value of PM2.5 and the cities concerned belong to sensitive areas.4)According to the PM2.5 warning index,the number of strong,medium,weak and non-warning areas in China is 45,85,159 and 54,respectively. | LI Hua TONG Helong WU Xianhua LU Xiaoli MENG Shuhan | 2020 | Chinese Geographical Science2020,30,6: | 2 |

| 4 | FeeNeC single atom nanozymes with dual enzyme-mimicking activities for colorimetric detection of hydrogen peroxide and glutathione显示文摘H_(2)O_(2) and glutathione(GSH)are critical redox molecules in the organism.Abnormal levels of cellular H_(2)O_(2) and GSH are closely related to some diseases.Thus,it is imperative to detect H_(2)O_(2) and GSH effi-ciently.In this work,FeeNeC single atom nanozymes(SANs)with both peroxidase and oxidasemimicking activities were successfully prepared with the help of formamide condensation by one-step hydrothermal method.The FeeNeC SANs show excellent peroxidase-like activity,which possess a higher affinity for H_(2)O_(2) and 3,30,5,50-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB)than horseradish peroxidase(HRP).Then,based on the chromogenic reaction of TMB,a colorimetric biosensor to detect H_(2)O_(2) and GSH was developed.This biosensor has the linear ranges of 10-600 mmol/L for H_(2)O_(2) with a low detection limit of 4.360 mmol/L and 100-400 mmol/L for GSH with a low detection limit of 78.33 mmol/L.Besides,this colorimetric biosensor exhibited a good recovery of H_(2)O_(2) and GSH in diluted human serum.Finally,the FeeNeC SANs were encapsulated into agar gel to self-quantitatively detect GSH by naked eyes.This work provides a non-pyrolytic way to prepare SANs,which broadens the synthetic method of SANs and may promote the development of SANs for biosensor application. | Wei Lu Shuhan Chen Haifeng Zhang Jiajun Qiu Xuanyong Liu | 2022 | Journal of Materiomics2022,8,6: | 2 |

| 6 | Assessment of respiratory support decision and the outcome of invasive mechanical ventilation in severe COVID-19 with ARDS显示文摘Background:The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is an ongoing pandemic.Invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV)is essential for the management of COVID-19 with acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).We aimed to assess the impact of compliance with a respiratory decision support system on the outcomes of patients with COVID-19-associated ARDS who required IMV.Methods:In this retrospective,single-center,case series study,patients with COVID-19-associated ARDS who required IMV at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University,China,from January 8th,2020,to March 24th,2020,with the final follow-up date of April 20th,2020,were included.Demographic,clinical,laboratory,imaging,and management information were collected and analyzed.Compliance with the respiratory support decision system was documented,and its relationship with 28-day mortality was evaluated.Results:The study included 46 COVID-19-associated ARDS patients who required IMV.The median age of the 46 patients was 68.5 years,and 31 were men.The partial pressure of arterial oxygen(PaO_(2))/fraction of inspired oxygen(FiO_(2))ratio at intensive care unit(ICU)admission was 104 mmHg.The median total length of IMV was 12.0(interquartile range[IQR]:6.0–27.3)days,and the median respiratory support decision score was 11.0(IQR:7.8–16.0).To 28 days after ICU admission,18(39.1%)patients died.Survivors had a significantly higher respiratory support decision score than non-survivors(15.0[10.3–17.0]vs.8.5(6.0–10.3),P=0.001).Using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve to assess the discrimination of respiratory support decision score to 28-day mortality,the area under the curve(AUC)was 0.796(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.657–0.934,P=0.001)and the cut-offwas 11.5(sensitivity=0.679,specificity=0.889).Patients with a higher score(>11.5)were more likely to survive at 28 days after ICU admission(log-rank test,P<0.001).Conclusions:For severe COVID-19-associated ARDS with IMV,following the respiratory support decision and assessing completion would improve the progress of ventilation.With a decision score of>11.5,the mortality at 28 days after ICU admission showed an obvious decrease. | Shuhan Cai Fangfang Zhu Hongtao Hu Hui Xiang Dawei Wang Jing Wang Lu Li Xiao Yang Aihua Qin Xin Rao Yun Luo Jianguo Li Kianoush B.Kashani Bo Hu Zhiyong Peng | 2022 | Journal of Intensive Medicine2022,2,2: | 1 |

| 9 | Novel tracking method for the drinking behavior trajectory of pigs显示文摘Identifying and tracking the drinking behavior of pigs is of great significance for welfare feeding and piggery management. Research on pigs’ drinking behavior not only needs to indicate whether the snout is in contact with the water fountain, but it also needs to establish whether the pig is drinking water and for how long. To solve target loss and identification errors, a novel method for tracking the drinking behavior of pigs based on L-K Pyramid Optical Flow (L-K OPT), Kernelized Correlation Filters (KCF), and DeepLabCut (DLC) was proposed. First, the feature model of the drinking behavior of a sow was established by L-K OPT. In addition, the water flow vector was used to determine whether the animal drank water and to demonstrate the details of the movements. Then, on the basis of the improved KCF, the relocation model of the sow’s snout was established to resolve the problem of tracking loss in the snout. Finally, the tracking model of piglets’ drinking behavior was established by DLC to build the mapping association between the pig’s snout and the drinking fountain. By using 200 episodes of drinking water videos (30-60 s each) to verify the method proposed in this study, the results are explained that 1) according to the two important drinking water indexes, the Down (−135°, −45°) direction feature and the V2 (>10 pixels) speed feature, the drinking time could be accurate to the frame level, with an error within 30 frames;2) The overlapping precision (OP) was 95%, the center location error (CLE) was 3 pixels, and the speed was 300 fps, which were all superior to other traditional algorithms;3) The optimal learning rate was 0.005, and the loss value was 0.0 002. Deep neural networks allow for model flexibility and process features without the needof domain knowledge. Advantage learning (A-learning) is a popular method in dynamic treatment regime (DTR). It models the advantage function, which is of direct relevance to optimaltreatment decision. No assumptions on baseline function are made. However, there is a paucityof literature on deep A-learning. In this paper, we present a deep A-learning approach to estimate optimal DTR. We use an inverse probability weighting method to estimate the differencebetween potential outcomes. Parameter sharing of convolutional neural networks (CNN) greatlyreduces the amount of parameters in neural networks, which allows for high scalability. | 16 | Skeleton extraction and pose estimation of piglets using ZS-DLC-PAF显示文摘The accurate identification of various postures in the daily life of piglets that are directly reflected by their skeleton morphology is necessary to study the behavioral characteristics of pigs.Accordingly,this study proposed a novel approach for the skeleton extraction and pose estimation of piglets.First,an improved Zhang-Suen(ZS)thinning algorithm based on morphology was used to establish the chain code mechanism of the burr and the redundant information deletion templates to achieve a single-pixel width extraction of pig skeletons.Then,body nodes were extracted on the basis of the improved DeepLabCut(DLC)algorithm,and a part affinity field(PAF)was added to realize the connection of body nodes,and consequently,construct a database of pig behavior and postures.Finally,a support vector machine was used for pose matching to recognize the main behavior of piglets.In this study,14000 images of piglets with different types of behavior were used in posture recognition experiments.Results showed that the improved algorithm based on ZS-DLC-PAF achieved the best thinning rate compared with those of distance transformation,medial axis transformation,morphology refinement,and the traditional ZS algorithm.The node tracking accuracy reached 85.08%,and the pressure test could accurately detect up to 35 nodes of 5 pigs.The average accuracy of posture matching was 89.60%.This study not only realized the single-pixel extraction of piglets’skeletons but also the connection among the different behavior body nodes of individual sows and multiple piglets.Furthermore,this study established a database of pig posture behavior,which provides a reference for studying animal behavior identification and classification and anomaly detection. | Chengqi Liu Haijian Ye Shuhan Lu Zhan Tang Zhao Bai Lei Diao Longhe Wang Lin Li | 2023 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,3: | 0 |
