1Large and meso-α scale characteristics of intense rainfall in the mid- and lower reaches of the Yangtze River显示文摘Meteorological conditions associated with intense rainfall and great floods over mid- and lower reaches of Yangtze River are studied by analyzing the large-, synoptic-and meso-a-scale circulation systems for 1991, 1996 and 1998. It is found that the advance and retreat of subtropical high over the West Pacific, the monsoon moisture surge from the South China Sea, cold air outbreak over mid- and high-latitudes, and the meso-α scale systems (250-2500 km) from the Tibetan Pleateau as well, are responsible for intense rainfall over the Yangtze River Valley. 3Spatial distribution pattern of Picea schrenkiana population in the Middle Tianshan Mountains and the relationship with topographic attributes显示文摘The spatial distribution of plant populations is an important feature of population structure and it determines the population's ecological preferences,biological characteristics and relationships with environmental factors.The point pattern analysis method was adopted to study the distribution pattern of Picea schrenkiana individuals of different size classes and the correlations between two size classes as well as the impact of topographical attributes on the population distribution.With increasing diameter at breast height,the plant density of the P.schrenkiana population showed a declining trend.Old trees showed a random distribution at a small spatial scale(0-12 m),whereas saplings,small trees and big trees all had an aggregated distribution at all scales.With the increase of tree age,the scales at which maximal aggregation occurred gradually increased and the aggregation strength decreased.At a small scale(0-16 m),all size classes showed a negative correlation and the larger the difference between tree size,the more significant the negative correlation.The number of medium,big and old trees had a significantly positive correlation with elevations,whereas the number of saplings and small trees was not significantly correlated with elevations.The numbers of saplings,small and medium trees showed a significant positive correlation with slope gradient,whereas the number of big trees was not significantly correlated,and the number of old trees was negatively correlated with gradient.With the exception of old trees,saplings,small,medium and big trees showed negative correlations with convexity index.The study provides a theoretical basis for the conservation,rehabilitation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems in the Tianshan Mountains.YuTao ZHANG JiMei LI ShunLi CHANG Xiang LI JianJiang LU 2012Journal of Arid Land2012,4,4:12

5Water yield reduction due to forestation in arid mountainous regions, northwest China显示文摘Forestation has been encouraged worldwide due to increasing demand for forest products, and for its ecological benefits such as soil erosion control and sediment reduction. However, forestation reduces runoff, thus potentially aggravating water shortages in arid regions. In order to quantitatively estimate the possible water yield reductions caused by forestation in an arid region, a small watershed (the Pailugou watershed) in the Qilian Mountains of northwest China was chosen as a study area. The responses of hydrological dynamics to different forestation scenarios in the study area were simulated using the TOPOG model. The results showed that forestation could lead to a complete loss of runoff at the site scale. At the watershed scale, a 10% increase in forest coverage led to a runoff reduction of 25.6 mm, equivalent to 13% of the runoffin the un-forested watershed. However, due to climatological and topographical constraints, the potential forest distribution occupied only 46.3% of the watershed area, and runoff reduction was estimated to reach a maximum of 60% when the forest cover ratio increased from 0.41% to 46.1%. Actual forest coverage is 36% in the study area, thus the water yield will be reduced with any further increase in forest area. 6The response of deltaic systems to climatic and hydrological changes in Daihai Lake rift basin,Inner Mongolia,northern China显示文摘Delta systems are ubiquitous around lacustrine rift basins. Its peripheral ge-ometry, progradation structures and sedimentary successions were controlled by both tec-tonic settings and climatic changes. Peripheral geometry of a delta was strongly influenced by depositional gradients which formed the fan-shape delta on the steep slopes and developed the lobe-shape delta on the gentle slopes. Due to the discharge feed rivers can change rapidly driven by climatic variations, and the nearshore area of deltas display considerable facies variability. The rise of annual rainfall, which suggests the rivers feeding deltas are continuous, and result in distributary mouth bars that are prevalent in the front of deltas since the down-slope flows are greater than the along-slope currents. On the contrary, when the annual rainfall decreases and evaporation increases, the rivers only can feed deltas ephemerally. If the along-slope currents were in a dominant position, the distal bars were deposited. Progra-dation structure and sedimentary successions of deltas were controlled by the gradients of slopes. 7Cornuside alleviates experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis by inhibiting Th17 cell infiltration into the central nervous system显示文摘The present study was conducted to clarify the therapeutic effect of cornuside on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE)and its influence on T helper 17(Th17)cell and regulatory T(Treg)cell infiltration into the central nervous system.Rats were randomly placed into four treatment groups:control,EAE,EAE+cornuside,and EAE+prednisolone.The neurological function scores of rats were assessed daily.On the second day after EAE rats began to show neurological deficit symptoms,the four groups were treated with normal saline,normal saline,cornuside(150 mg/kg),and prednisolone(5 mg/kg),respectively.The treatment was discontinued after two weeks,and the spinal cord was obtained for hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)and luxol fast blue staining,as well as retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptorγ(RORγ)and forkhead box protein P3(Foxp3)immunohistochemical staining.Blood was collected for Th17 and Treg cell flow cytometry testing,and the serum levels of interleukin(IL)-17A,IL-10,transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β),IL-6,IL-23,and IL-2 were measured via enzymelinked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Compared with rats in the EAE group,rats in the EAE+cornuside and EAE+prednisolone groups began to recover from neurological deficits earlier,and had a greater degree of improvement of symptoms.Focal inflammation,demyelination,and RORγ-positive cell infiltration were reduced by cornuside or prednisolone treatment,whereas the Foxp3-positive cell numbers were not significantly different.Meanwhile,the number of Th17 cells and the IL-17A,IL-6,and IL-23 levels were lower in the blood after cornuside or prednisolone treatment,whereas the number of Treg cells or the levels of IL-10,TGF-β,and IL-2 were not markedly different.Cornuside can alleviate symptoms of EAE neurological deficits through its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects,and Th17 cells may be one of its therapeutic targets.Rongbo ZHANG Jin LIU Bin XU You WU Shunli LIANG Qiang YUAN 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,5:5
8Invasion Possibility and Potential Effects of Rhus typhina on Beijing Municipality显示文摘Rhus typhina,an alien species introduced from North America,was identified as a main afforestation species in Beijing municipality. However,its invasiveness is still at odds. To clarify this problem,we applied the North American Screening System and the Australian Screening System to preliminarily predict its invasion possibility. Both screening systems gave the same recommendation to 'reject'. The geographical distribution was surveyed,with the population features of R. typhina against the native plant communities being assessed. With anthropogenic assistance,R. typhina has been scattered on almost all habitats from downtown to mountains,including roadsides,farmlands and protected areas. As a clonal shrub,R. typhina possessed a high spreading rate,varying from 6.3m/3years at sterile habitats to 6.7m/3years at fertile ones. Significantly lower species richness,individual density and diversity were observed in the R. typhina community than those of the native Vitex negundo Linn.var. heterophylla (Franch.) Rehd. community at both sterile and fertile habitats. Continual wide plantation of R. typhina may further foster its population expansion,which helps the species to overcome spatial isolation. The fact that each root fragment can develop into a new individual makes R. typhina very difficult to be eradicated once established. From a biological point of view,we believe that R. typhina is a plant invader in Beijing. 9The effects of temperature and acid number of crude oil on the wettability of acid volcanic reservoir rock from the Hailar Oilfi eld显示文摘Wettability of acid volcanic reservoir rock from the Hailar Oilfi eld,China,was studied with crude oils of different acid numbers generated from an original crude oil with an acid number of 3.05 mg KOH/g. The modif ied oils and their resultant acid numbers were:A(2.09 mg KOH/g) ,B(0.75 mg KOH/g) ,C(0.47 mg KOH/g) ,D(0.30 mg KOH/g) ,and E(0.18 mg KOH/g) . Contact angles and improved Amott water indexes were measured to study the effects of temperature and acid number on the wettability of the acid volcanic reservoir rock. Experimental results indicated that the wettability was not sensitive to variation in temperature when using the same oil,but the acid number of the crude oil was a key factor in changing the wettability of the rock. The Amott water index,Iw was an exponential function of the acid number,and the Amott water index increased as the acid number decreased(i.e. Amott water index exponentially decreased with the acid number increase) . The Iw value of the core saturated with oil A,with an acid number of 2.09 mg KOH/g,ranged from 0.06 to 0.11,which indicated low water wetness. If the acid number of the oil decreased to 0.18 mg KOH/g,the Iw value increased to 0.95,which indicated strong water wetness. The contact angle decreased from 80o to 35o when the aid number decreased from 0.75 to 0.18 mg KOH/g,indicating a change towards more water wet conditions. The oil recovery by spontaneous imbibition of water also increased as the acid number of the oil decreased. 10Application of the Material Balance Method in Paleoelevation Recovery: A Case Study of the Longmen Mountains Foreland Basin on the Eastern Margin of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘We applied the material balance principle of the denudation volume and sedimentary flux to study the denudation-accumulation system between the Longmen Mountains(Mts.) and the foreland basin. The amount of sediment in each sedimentation stage of the basin was estimated to obtain the denudation volume,erosion thickness and deposit thickness since the Late Triassic Epoch,to enable us to recover the paleoelevation of the provenance and the sedimentary area. The results show the following:(1) Since the Late Triassic Epoch,the elevation of the surface of the Longmen Mts. has uplifted from 0 m to 2751 m,and the crust of the Longmen Mts. has uplifted by 9.8 km. Approximately 72% of the materials introduced have been denuded from the mountains.(2) It is difficult to recover the paleoelevation of each stage of the Longmen Mts. foreland basin quantitatively by the present-day techniques and data.(3) The formation of the Longmen Mts. foreland basin consisted of three stages of thrust belt tectonic load and three stages of thrust belt erosional unload. During tectonic loading stages(Late Triassic Epoch,Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous,Late Cretaceous–Miocene),the average elevation of Longmen Mts. was lower(approximately 700–1700 m). 11Sodium Alginate/Carboxyl-Functionalized Graphene Composite Hydrogel Via Neodymium Ions Coordination显示文摘A facile method for the preparation of sodium alginate(SA)/carboxyl-functionalized graphene(G-COOH)composite hydrogel was developed. Based on the coordination ability of lanthanide ions to the carboxyl groups, a series of hydrogel derived from different ratios of SA and G-COOH was fabricated by neodymium(Nd^(3+)) ions coordination. A relatively uniform layered structure was recorded by SEM at the interior of SA/G-COOH hydrogel. Several parameters such as water content, swelling ratio(SR), tensile test and solvent resistance were also investigated. The SA/G-COOH composite hydrogel showed excellent mechanical strength, and the tensile strength of SA/G-COOH composite hydrogel reaches 53.72 MPa at high water content. 12QTL mapping and QTL × environment interaction analysis of multi-seed pod in cultivated peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.)显示文摘To dissect the genetic mechanism of multi-seed pod in peanut, we explored the QTL/gene controlling multi-seed pod and analyzed the interaction effect of QTL and environment. Two hundred and forty eight recombinant inbred lines(RIL) from cross Silihong × Jinonghei 3 were used as experimental materials planted in 8 environments from 2012 to 2017. Three methods of analysis were performed. These included individual environment analysis, joint analysis in multiple environments, and epistatic interaction analysis for multi-seed pod QTL. Phenotypic data and best linear unbiased prediction(BLUP) value of the ratio of multi-seed pods per plant(RMSP) were used for QTL mapping. Seven QTL detected by the individual environmental mapping analysis and were distributed on linkage groups 1, 6, 9, 14, 19(2), and 21. Each QTL explained 4.42%–11.51% of the phenotypic variation in multi-seed pod, and synergistic alleles of5 QTL were from the Silihong parent. One QTL, explaining 4.93% of the phenotypic variation was detected using BLUP data, and this QTL mapped in the same interval as q RMSP19.1 detected in the individual environment analysis. Seventeen additive QTL were identified by joint analysis across multiple environments. A total of 43 epistatic QTL were detected by ICIM-EPI mapping in the multiple environment trials(MET) module, and involved 57 loci. Two main-effect QTL related to multi-seed pod in peanut were filtered. We also found that RMSP had a highly significant positive correlation with pod yield per plant(PY), and epistatic effects were much more important than additive effects. 13Thermodynamic description of the ternary compounds in the Cu-In-Se system显示文摘A set of thermodynamic descriptions of the ternary compounds (mainly α-CuInSe2, δ-CuInSe2, CuIn3Se5 and CuIn5Se8) in the Cu-In-Se system was established by adopting sub-lattice model. The model parameters are carefully evalu- ated by integrating the experimental data of thermodynamic properties, phase equilibrium and theoretical calculation of formation energies of different point defects. The evaluated Gibbs energies of the compounds reasonably agree with that es- timated from EMF experiment and ab initio calculation. The calculated phase relationships in the Cu-In-Se system are in accord with the experimental phase diagrams. 14Visible light photocatalytic decoloration of methylene blue on novel N-doped TiO_2显示文摘Novel N-doped TiO2 (denoted as N-NTA600) was prepared by treating nanotube titanic acid (NTA) in NH3 flow. Its visible light photocatalytic activity,evaluated by decoloration reaction of methylene blue,is higher than that of N-P25(600) prepared by treatment of P25-TiO2 in the same condition. 15Detrital zircon U–Pb geochronology and Hf isotopic compositions of Middle–Upper Ordovician sandstones from the Quruqtagh area, eastern Tarim Basin:implications for sedimentary provenance and tectonic evolution显示文摘Figuring out whether the sedimentary provenance regions of the thick deep-water turbidite systems deposited during Middle–Upper Ordovician in South Quruqtagh are the intracontinental uplifts or the peripheral orogenic belts is of great significance for us to understand the tectono-sedimentary nature of the northeastern Tarim Basin and basin-range coupling processes in the middle Paleozoic.This paper reports the in situ LA-ICP-MS U–Pb ages and Hf isotope data on detrital zircons from two Middle–Upper Ordovician sandstone samples which were collected from the Charchag Formation and the Zatupo Formation in South Quruqtagh,respectively.The results show that the studied two samples have extremely similar U–Pb age patterns and Hf isotopic compositions,reflecting multiphase tectonothermal events with age groups of 527–694,713–870 Ma(peaking at 760 Ma),904–1,090,1,787–2,094 Ma(peaking at 1,975 Ma)and 2,419–2,517 Ma.Combining previous studies,the presence of age groups of 713–1,090 and1,787–2,094 Ma,respectively,demonstrates that Tarim had ever been a part of Rodinia and Columbia supercontinent.Moreover,98%of 713–870 Ma detrital zircons are characterized by negative e Hf(t)values ranging from-38.07 to-0.61,which are highly consistent with those of Neoproterozoic granites from the Quruqtagh area.No Early Paleozoic ages(*470–500 Ma)signifying subduction or collision events in Altyn Tagh were detected in the two samples,indicating that the Middle–Late Ordovician sediments in South Quruqtagh and northern Mangar depression were mainly derived from intracontinental uplifts,i.e.,the North Quruqtagh uplift or the Tabei paleo-uplift,rather than the Altyn Tagh.In conjunction with regional sedimentary-tectonic background and previous studies,we proposed preliminarily that the northeastern Tarim remained as a passive continental margin in Late Ordovician and changed into an active-continental margin in Silurian due to the southward subduction of the South-Tianshan Ocean.Shunli Dong Zhong Li Jianqiang Xu Jian Gao Chuntao Guo 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,10:3
16Crustal Uplift in the Longmen Shan Mountains Revealed by Isostatic Gravity Anomalies along the Eastern Margin of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘This study examines the relationship between high positive isostatic gravity anomalies(IGA), steep topography and lower crustal extrusion at the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. IGA data has revealed uplift and extrusion of lower crustal flow in the Longmen Shan Mountains(the LMS). Firstly, The high positive IGA zone corresponds to the LMS orogenic belt. It is shown that abrupt changes in IGA correspond to zones of abrupt change of topography, crustal thickness and rock density along the LMS. Secondly, on the basis of the Airy isostasy theory, simulations and inversions of the positive IGA were conducted using three-dimensional bodies. The results indicated that the LMS lacks a mountain root, and that the top surface of the lower crust has been elevated by 11 km, leading to positive IGA, tectonic load and density load. Thirdly, according to Watts' s flexural isostasy model, elastic deflection occurs, suggesting that the limited(i.e. narrow) tectonic and density load driven by lower crustal flow in the LMS have led to asymmetric flexural subsidence in the foreland basin and lifting of the forebulge. 17Sedimentary Patterns and Stratigraphic Trap Models of Deeply Buried Intervals in the Baxian Depression, North China显示文摘The Baxian depression is a typical half-graben located in the Jizhong sub-basin, north China. Commercial petroleum traps have been discovered in the Jizhong sub-basin. However, the 3^(rd) and 4^(th) members of the Shahejie Formation in this sub-basin have been poorly explored. These two members, belonging to the Lower Paleogene age, are buried deeply in the depression. Favorable petroleum reservoir conditions exist in such deep intervals of the half-graben due to the presence of different types and extent of deltas and turbidity fans in various areas. In fact, three types of turbidite fans are developed in the sag below the transitional belt on the eastern gentle slope. This work summarized three stratigraphic trap belts, i.e., the steep slope, gentle slope, and sag. On the steep slope, structuralstratigraphic traps with small-scale delta fronts and turbidite sandbodies are well developed. On the gentle slope, hydrocarbons generally accumulate in the large-scale delta front, onlapping beds and those sandbodies adjacent to unconformities. In the sag, petroleum trap models are typically characterized by pinched-out turbidite sandbodies. Stratigraphic traps were easily formed in turbidite fans below the eastern transitional belt. Our previous study revealed that overexpression of reticulon protein 1-C (RTN1-C) is involved in cerebral I/R injury. However, the underlying mechanisms have not been studied intensively. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of RTN1-C on autophagy under cerebral I/R. Using an in vitro oxygen-glucose deprivation followed by reoxygenation and a transient middle cerebral artery occlusion model in rats, we found that the expression of RTN1-C protein was significantly upregulated. We also revealed that RTN1-C knockdown suppressed overactivated autophagy both in vivo and in vitro, as indicated by decreased expressions of autophagic proteins. The number of Beclin-1/propidium iodide-positive cells was significantly less in the LV-shRTN1-C group than in the LV-shNC group. In addition, rapamycin, an activator of autophagy, aggravated cerebral I/R injury. RTN1-C knockdown reduced brain infarct volume, improved neurological deficits, and attenuated cell vulnerability to cerebral I/R injury after rapamycin treatment. 20Pre-detection and dual-dictionary sparse representation based face recognition algorithm in non-sufficient training samples显示文摘Face recognition based on few training samples is a challenging task. In daily applications, sufficient training samples may not be obtained and most of the gained training samples are in various illuminations and poses. Non-sufficient training samples could not effectively express various facial conditions, so the improvement of the face recognition rate under the non-sufficient training samples condition becomes a laborious mission. In our work, the facial pose pre-recognition(FPPR) model and the dualdictionary sparse representation classification(DD-SRC) are proposed for face recognition. The FPPR model is based on the facial geometric characteristic and machine learning, dividing a testing sample into full-face and profile. Different poses in a single dictionary are influenced by each other, which leads to a low face recognition rate. The DD-SRC contains two dictionaries, full-face dictionary and profile dictionary, and is able to reduce the interference. After FPPR, the sample is processed by the DD-SRC to find the most similar one in training samples.
