3Effect of Gastrodin on Early Brain Injury and Neurological Outcome After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in Rats显示文摘Gastrodin is a phenolic glycoside that has been demonstrated to provide neuroprotection in preclinical models of central nervous system disease, but its effect in subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) remains unclear. In this study, we showed that intraperitoneal administration of gastrodin(100 mg/kg per day) significantly attenuated the SAH-induced neurological deficit, brain edema, and increased blood-brain barrier permeability in rats. Meanwhile, gastrodin treatment significantly reduced the SAHinduced elevation of glutamate concentration in the cerebrospinal fluid and the intracellular Ca2+ overload.Moreover, gastrodin suppressed the SAH-induced microglial activation, astrocyte activation, and neuronal apoptosis. Mechanistically, gastrodin significantly reduced the oxidative stress and inflammatory response, up-regulated the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2–related factor2, heme oxygenase-1, phospho-Akt and B-cell lymphoma2, and down-regulated the expression of BCL2-associated X protein and cleaved caspase-3. 4Comparative efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal injections combined with transcatheter hepatic arterial chemoembolization in treatment of liver cancer: a bayesian network Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To address the optimal Chinese herbal injections(CHIs) against liver cancer, the present network Meta-analysis is designed to investigate the comparative efficacy and safety of different CHIs.METHODS: Several electronic databases were searched up to June 1 st, 2017. The quality assessment was conducted and network Meta-analysis was performed to compare the efficacy and safety of different CHIs plus transcatheter hepatic arterial chemoembolization(TACE). Primary outcomes were 1-year and 2-year survival rate, the secondary outcomes includes the clinical effective rate, performance status and the adverse reactions(ADRs). Data analysis was applied Stata 13.0 and Win BUGS 1.4 software.RESULTS: A total of 105 randomized controlled trials(RCTs) were identified for inclusion in this analysis, with data for 7683 patients and 13 CHIs. The results suggested that Javanica oil emulsion,Huachansu injection plus TACE were more favorable for 1-year and 2-year survival rate than other CHIs. 5Middle-Miocene transformation of tectonic regime in the Himalayan orogen显示文摘Understanding the multiple tectonic transformations during the Himalayan orogeny is significant in evaluating the evolution of Himalayan orogen.In the Gyirong area in south Tibet,deformed leucogranitic veins in the biotite-plagioclase gneisses of Greater Himalayan crystalline complex(GHC) constitute south-vergent asymmetric folds.The reconstruction of the veins shows that they experienced two generations of deformation under different tectonic regimes:an earlier top-to-north extension and a later top-to-south thrusting,implying a tectonic transformation from N-S extension to N-S shortening.Zircons LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of the leucogranite shows that it was emplaced during 21.03-18.7 Ma.The data suggest that the tectonic transformation occurred after 18.7 Ma.The chronological data of South Tibet detachment system(STDS) and North-South trending rift(NSTR) from Gyirong and other areas indicate that the Himalayan orogeny was in a period of tectonic transformation from N-S extension to N-S shortening during 19-13 Ma.The transformation of tectonic regime was probably controlled by the India-Asia convergence rate.An increase in the convergence rate resulted in N-S shortening of the orogen,thrusting and folding,with coeval formation of the NSTR in Tibet.A decrease in the convergence rate led to N-S extension and reactivation of the STDS.WANG XiaoXian ZHANG JinJiang LIU Jiang YAN ShuYu WANG JiaMin 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,1:8

7Kallistatin,a new and reliable biomarker for the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis显示文摘Kallistatin,which protects organs and cells against inflammation,fibrosis and oxidative stress,is mainly synthesized and secreted in liver.However,its relationship to human liver disease remains unclear.The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between serum kallistatin and clinical evidence of both cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and to determine if serum kallistatin levels could be used as a diagnostic indicator of hepatic health status,especially human liver cirrhosis(LC).Our cohort consisted of 115 patients with clinically proven liver fibrosis(LF),LC,or HCC by liver biopsies,and 31 healthy controls(CON).Serum kallistatin levels were quantified by ELISA.Results of the present study demonstrated that irrespective of the underlying etiology,serum kallistatin levels were significantly lower in the LF/LC group when compared with the CON group.A decrease in serum kallistatin levels appeared to reflect the extent of cirrhosis,with the lowest levels associated with higher grades of cirrhosis.Patients with LC had a noticeable correlation between serum kallistatin levels and other serum biochemical indicators.The area under the curve(AUC) for LC,viral liver cirrhosis(VLC)and alcoholic liver cirrhosis(ALC) was 0.845,0.757 and 0.931,respectively.In conclusion,our findingsdemonstrated that kallistatin,a plasma protein produced by the liver,can be a useful and reliable diagnostic indicator of hepatic health status,especially for LC.Zhiyun Cheng Yinghui Lv Suqiu Pang Ruyu Bai Mingxi Wang Shuyu Lin Tianwen Xu Duncan Spalding Nagy Habib Ruian Xu 2015Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2015,5,3:7
8Protective effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned medium on ovarian damage显示文摘Chemotherapeutic agents are extensively used to treat malignancies.However,chemotherapy-induced ovarian damage and reduced fertility are severe side effects.Recently,stem cell transplantation has been reported to be an effective strategy for premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)treatment,but safety can still be an issue in stem cell-based therapy.Here,we show the protective effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned medium(hUCMSC-CM)on a cisplatin(Cs)-induced ovarian injury model.hUCMSC-CM can relieve Cs-induced depletion of follicles and preserve fertility.In addition,hUCMSC-CM can decrease apoptosis of oocytes and granulosa cells induced by Cs.RNA sequencing analysis reveals the differentially expressed genes of ovaries after Cs and hUCMSC-CM treatments,including genes involved in cell apoptosis.Furthermore,we show that the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF)/phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)pathway plays an important role in protecting granulosa cells from Cs-induced apoptosis.Together,we confirm the protective effects of hUCMSC-CM on ovarian reserve and fertility in mice treated with Cs,highlighting the remarkable therapeutic effects of hUCMSC-CM.Liming Hong Long Yan Zhimin Xin Jie Hao Wenjing Liu Shuyu Wang Shujie Liao Hongmei Wang Xiaokui Yang 2020Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,5:7
9A novel lineage of osteoprogenitor cells with dual epithelial and mesenchymal properties govern maxillofacial bone homeostasis and regeneration after MSFL显示文摘Bone regeneration originates from proliferation and differentiation of osteoprogenitors via either endochondral or intramembranous ossifcation;and the regeneration capacities decline with age and estrogen loss.Maillary sinus floor lifting(MSFL)is a commonly used surgical procedure for guiding bone regeneration in mailla.Radiographic analysis of 1210 clinical cases of maxilla bone regeneration after MSFL revealed that the intrasinus osteogenic eficacy was independent of age and gender,however;and this might be related to the Schneiderian membrane that lines the sinus cavity.In view of the particularity of this biological process,our present study aimed to elucidate the underlying mechanism of MSFL-induced bone regeneration.We frst established a murine model to simulate the clinical MSFL.By single cell RNA-sequencing and flow cytometry-based bulk RNA-sequencing,we identifed a novel Krt14^(+)Ctsk^(+)subset of cells that display both epithelial and mesenchymal properties and the transcriptomic feature of osteoprogenitors.Dual recombinases-mediated lineage tracing and oss-offunction analyses showed that these Krt14^(+)Ctsk^(+)progenitors contribute to both MSFL-induced osteogenesis and physiological bone homeostasis by differentiating into Krt14 Ctsk^(+)descendants which show robust osteogenic capacity.In addition,we detected a similar population of Kt14^(+)Ctsk^(+)cells in human samples of Schneiderian membrane,which show a highly similar osteogenic potential and transcriptomic feature to the corresponding cells in mice.The identifcation of this Krt14^(+)Ctsk^(+)population,featured by osteoprogenitor charateristics and dual epithelial-mesenchymal properties,provides new insight into the understanding of bone regeneration and may open more possibilities for clinical applications.Yuteng Weng Haicheng Wang Di Wu Shuyu Xu Xiaofan Chen Jie Huang Yanhuizhi Feng Lin Li Zuolin Wang 2022Cell Research2022,32,9:5
10New indicators from bedding-parallel beef veins for the fault valve mechanism显示文摘Beef structures(bedding-parallel veins of fibrous calcite)are widespread within the Lower Triassic carbonate rocks in the Sichuan Basin of China,especially within clay-rich strata of low permeability.In the veins,fibrous calcite occurs in the outer zones,and coarse equant calcite in the inner zones.At least two generations of calcite crystallization took place during aqueous alteration,at the same time as deformation recorded by the calcite.The first-generation calcite fibers are at steep angles to the hydrocarbon-bearing host beds,and they grew vertically against the force of gravity at a time when the source rocks were maturing.Second-generation calcite occurs as coarse equant grains that sealed pores via localized fluid flow during horizontal tectonic compression,so that shear stresses acted at the fracture margins.Shearing of the host rock was accommodated in part by dissolution-precipitation creep(DPC),grain rotation,and grain slippage,recorded in crystallographic preferred orientations(CPOs)of the host calcite grains beside the crack walls.The beef veins formed during high pore-fluid overpressures along hydrofractures.We propose that the bedding-parallel veins with beef structures are evidence of a'crack-seal slip'fault valve process during hydrocarbon generation.The hydrocarbon-bearing calcite beef structure may be a good indicator of oil or gas migration,and of the flow direction of aqueous solutions.ZHANG Bo YIN CongYuan GU ZhiDong ZHANG JinJiang YAN ShuYu WANG Yang 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,8:5

12Titanium dioxide as an adsorbent to enhance the detection ability of near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy显示文摘A method for quantitative determination of fish sperm deoxyribonucleic acid(fsDNA)was developed by using titanium dioxide(TiO2)as an adsorbent and near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(NIRDRS).The selective enrichment of fsDNA was proved by comparing the adsorption efficiency of bovine serum albumin,tyrosine and tryptophan,and the low adsorption background of TiO2 was illustrated by comparing the spectra of four commonly-used inorganic adsorbents(alkaline aluminium oxide,neutral aluminium oxide,nano-hydroxyapatite and silica).The spectral feature of fsDNA can be clearly observed in the spectrum of the sample.Partial least squares(PLS)model was built for quantitative determination of fsDNA using 28 solutions,and 13 solutions with interferences were used for validation of the model.The results showed that the correlation coefficient(R)between the predicted and the reference concentration is 0.9727 and the recoveries of the validation samples are in the range of 98.2%-100.7%.Shuyu Wang Jin Zhang Wensheng Cai Xueguang Shao 2019Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5:4

14Effects of regulated deficit irrigation on soil salinity,physiological processes and fruit quality of gray jujube under desert conditions显示文摘Regulated deficit irrigation(RDI)was applied to gray jujube trees in an oasis region,to determine the effects of this irrigation system on soil salinity,gray jujube physiological processes,fruit yield,and fruit quality.Treatments consisted of severe,moderate and low deficit irrigation(irrigated with 85%,70%and 55%of CK,respectively)at the flowering stage to fruit set stage.During the other growth stages,all treatments were irrigated with 80%of pan evaporation,which was the same as that in control.The results indicated that soil salinity was enhanced during the periods of water stress,but the high value of soil salinity declined by 3.48%-37.27%,at each depth,after irrigation was resumed.RDI caused a decline in the photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate,and stomatal conductance,but enhanced the water use efficiency of the leaves.However,the leaf photosynthetic rate was effectively enhanced after the recovery of irrigation,especially in the moderate deficit irrigation treatment,which exceeded the control.This led to an improved fruit yield,which was 9.57%higher than that of the control.The deficit treatments caused a significant increase in the soluble solid content,soluble sugar content,single fruit weight and sugar/acid ratio.Enhanced vitamin C content,resulting from deficit treatments,has also been observed in the gray jujube.Therefore,this research shows that RDI provides some benefits in the production of gray jujube trees in desert conditions.Zhipeng Liu Chengli Zhu Shuyu Wu Weihua Guo Yitikaer Abudushalamu Xiyun Jiao Shipei Gao Jie Wang 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,3:3
15Oryza sativa mediator subunit OsMED25 interacts with OsBZR1 to regulate brassinosteroid signaling and plant architecture in rice显示文摘Brassinosteroids(BRs)are plant-specific steroid hormones which regulate plant growth,development,and adaptation.Transcriptional regulation plays key roles in plant hormone signaling.A mediator can serve as a bridge between gene-specific transcription factors and the RNA polymerase machinery,functioning as an essential component in regulating the transcriptional process.However,whether a mediator is involved in BR signaling is unknown.Here,we discovered that Oryza sativa mediator subunit 25(Os MED25)is an important regulator of rice BR signaling.Phenotypic analyses showed that the Os MED25-RNAi and osmed25 mutant presented erect leaves,as observed in BR-deficient mutants.In addition,the Os MED25-RNAi and osmed25 mutant exhibited decreased BR sensitivity.Genetic analysis indicated that Os MED25-RNAi could suppress the enhanced BR signaling phenotype of Osbzr1-D.Further biochemical analysis showed that Os MED25 interacts with Os BZR1 in vivo,and Os MED25 is enriched on the promoter of Os BZR1 target genes.RNA sequencing analysis indicated that Os MED25 affects the expression of approximately 45%of Os BZR1-regulated genes and mainly functions as a corepressor of Os BZR1.Together,these findings revealed that Os MED25 regulates rice BR signaling by interacting with Os BZR1 and modulating the expression of Os BZR1 target genes,thus expanding our understanding of the roles of mediators in plant hormone signaling.Yuekun Ren Xiaojie Tian Shuyu Li Enyang Mei Mingliang He Jiaqi Tang Min Xu Xiufeng Li Zhenyu Wang Chuanyou Li Qingyun Bu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,6:3
16Disturbance of light-absorbing aerosols on the albedo in a winter snowpack of Central Tibet显示文摘A field observation on the albedo of the snowpack in Central Tibet was conducted in the Nam Co region in the winter of 2011. Snow properties, including grain size and density, were measured in the field, and surface-layer snow samples (down to 5 cm) were collected. The average concentrations of black carbon and dust were 72 ppbm (close to that in the glaciers of Mt. Nyainqentanglha) and 120 ppmm, respectively. Inverse trends were found to exist between the albedo of the snowpack and light-absorbing aerosols (LAAs) as well as grain size growth. 19High-efficiency normal-incidence vertical p-i-n photodetectors on a germanium-on-insulator platform显示文摘In this paper, normal incidence vertical p-i-n photodetectors on a germanium-on-insulator(GOI) platform were demonstrated. The vertical p-i-n structure was realized by ion-implanting boron and arsenic at the bottom and top of the Ge layer, respectively, during the GOI fabrication. Abrupt doping profiles were verified in the transferred high-quality Ge layer. The photodetectors exhibit a dark current density of ~47 mA∕cm^2 at-1 V and an optical responsivity of 0.39 A/W at 1550 nm, which are improved compared with state-of-the-art demonstrated GOI photodetectors. An internal quantum efficiency of ~97% indicates excellent carrier collection efficiency of the device. The photodetectors with mesa diameter of 60 μm exhibit a 3 dB bandwidth of ~1 GHz, which agrees well with theoretical calculations. The bandwidth is expected to improve to ~32 GHz with mesa diameter of 10 μm.
