1ZmMs30 Encoding a Novel GDSL Lipase Is Essential for Male Fertility and Valuable for Hybrid Breeding in Maize显示文摘Genic male sterility (GMS) is very useful for hybrid vigor utilization and hybrid seed production. Although a large number of GMS genes have been identified in plants, little is known about the roles of GDSL lipase members in anther and pollen development. Here, we report a maize GMS gene, ZmMs30, which encodes a novel type of GDSL lipase with diverged catalytic residues. Enzyme kinetics and activity assays show that ZmMs30 has lipase activity and prefers to substrates with a short carbon chain. ZmMs30 is specifically expressed in maize anthers during stages 7-9. Loss of ZmMs30 function resulted in defective anther cuticle, irregular foot layer of pollen exine, and complete male sterility. Cytological and lipidomics analyses demonstrate that ZmMs30 is crucial for the aliphatic metabolic pathway required for pollen exine formation and anther cuticle development. Furthermore, we found that male sterility caused by loss of ZmMs30 function was stable in various inbred lines with different genetic background, and that it didn't show any negative effect on maize heterosis and production, suggesting that ZmMs30 is valuable for crossbreeding and hybrid seed production. We then developed a new multi-control sterility system using ZmMs30 and its mutant line, and demonstrated it is feasible for generating desirable GMS lines and valu. able for hybrid maize seed production. 2Simultaneous determination of nineteen major components in Qi She Pill by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry显示文摘Qi She Pill(QSP)is a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)prescription that has been used in treating cervical spondylosis radiculopathy for many years.In this study,a simple and sensitive method using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry(UHPLC–MS/MS)on a reverse-phase C18 column was developed for the simultaneous determination of the 19 major components in QSP.We found that the optimum mobile phase for gradient elution was 0.1% formic acid and methanol.The correlation coefficients of all calibration curves were greater than 0.99.Recoveries measured at three concentration levels varied from 95.43%to 102.35%.Relative standard deviations of intra-and inter-day precisions were less than 4.45%.After successfully validating our method,we then applied it to the quantification of 19 components in QSP products to show that this method provides a new standard in quality assessment of TCM prescriptions containing multiple bioactive components.Zhongliang Zhang Qiang Li Qiufen Li Simiao Du Yongquan Zhou Chunming Lv Yan Zhao Yongjun Wang Ning Zhang 2014Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,5:1
3Triboelectric nanogenerators with a constant inherent capacitance design显示文摘Triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)utilize the phenomena of contact electrification and electrostatic induction to harvest mechanical energy from the environment.A good match between the motion frequency and the circuit characteristic frequency is critical for the effective power generation of a TENG.However,most TENGs have a time-dependent inherent capacitance(TICTENG),which hinders an optimal design for efficient energy conversion.Here,we propose a novel structure of a TENG with a constant inherent capacitance(CIC-TENG)and a mathematical model is established to provide analytical expressions of key output parameters of the device,which gives numerical simulation results that are in good agreement with the experimentally obtained results.Figures of merit and an optimization strategy are also given as guidelines for the optimization of material selection,geometry design,etc.Furthermore,a disk-formed CIC-TENG(DCIC-TENG)with polarity-switched triboelectric pairs is constructed to harvest unidirectional mechanical energy continuously,achieving an output power density of 55 mW/m^(2).The effects of the motion frequency,the number of electrodes and triboelectric pairs on the charge transfer efficiency of the DCICTENG are assessed and a preferred design strategy is given.Finally,the CIC-TENG demonstrates approximately two-fold advantages in power transfer efficiency over the TIC-TENG,and a DCIC-TENG-based self-powered anemometer was fabricated to measure wind speed in real time.Lanyue Gan Fan Xia Panpan Zhang Xijun Jiang Yuxuan Liu Simiao Niu Youfan Hu 2023Nano Research2023,16,3:0
4Exploring heteroepitaxial growth and electrical properties of α-Ga_(2)O_(3) films on differently oriented sapphire substrates显示文摘This study explores the epitaxial relationship and electrical properties of α-Ga_(2)O_(3) thin films deposited on a-plane, mplane, and r-plane sapphire substrates. We characterize the thin films by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy, and elucidate thin film epitaxial relationships with the underlying sapphire substrates. The oxygen vacancy concentration of α-Ga_(2)O_(3) thin films on m-plane and r-plane sapphire substrates are higher than α-Ga_(2)O_(3) thin film on a-plane sapphire substrates. All three thin films have a high transmission of over 80% in the visible and near-ultraviolet regions, and their optical bandgaps stay around 5.02–5.16 eV. Hall measurements show that the α-Ga_(2)O_(3) thin film grown on r-plane sapphire has the highest conductivity of 2.71 S/cm, which is at least 90 times higher than the film on a-plane sapphire. A similar orientation-dependence is seen in their activation energy as revealed by temperature-dependent conductivity measurements, with 0.266, 0.079, and 0.075eV for the film on a-, m-, r-plane, respectively. The origin of the distinct transport behavior of films on differently oriented substrates is suggested to relate with the distinct evolution of oxygen vacancies at differently oriented substrates. 6Low Concordance Between Blood Pressures Measured in Periodic Health Examinations and in a Workplace-Based Hypertension Management Program显示文摘Poor adherence to standard protocols of blood pressure(BP)measurement in routine clinical practice leads to higher readings than“research-quality”measurements.Whether this phenomenon exists in periodic health examinations was unknown.We aimed to explore the concordance between BP measurements in periodic health examinations and those measured following a standard measurement protocol.We used data from the Kailuan Study,an ongoing longitudinal cohort study in China,of which participants received biennial health examinations in health management centers.In addition,BPs were measured following standard protocols in a workplace-based hypertension management program nested in the Kailuan Study.We compared BP readings of the same person between the two settings using generalized linear mixed-effects models.A total of 3988 men(the mean age was 44.9 years)had at least two BP measurements both in health examinations and management program with a time interval between the two settings that less than 90 days.The mean systolic blood pressures(SBP)and diastolic blood pressures(DBP)in health examinations were 4.2(95%CI 3.9–4.5)mm Hg and 3.3(95%CI 3.1–3.5)mm Hg higher than those in the management program,respectively.Bland–Altman analyses showed the wide agreement inter-vals ranging from-27.7-to 36.5-mm Hg for SBP and-18.3-to 24.7-mm Hg for DBP.In conclusion,BP measurements in periodic health examinations were generally higher than BPs measured following a standard protocol.Our findings highlight the importance of standard BP measurement to avoid overestimation of hypertension prevalence and treatment initiation.Jun-Xiang Chen Yan-Feng Zhou Tingting Geng Simiao Chen Shuohua Chen Guodong Wang Yan-Bo Zhang Yi Wang Zhou-Zheng Tu Gang Liu Shouling Wu An Pan 2022Phenomics2022,2,6:0
7Noncovalent conformational locks in organic semiconductors显示文摘Highly planar conformation is considered to be one of the most important properties for high performance organic semiconductors. Among all kinds strategies for designing highly performing materials, noncovalent conformational locks(NCLs)have been widely used to increase the planarity and rigidity for π-conjugated systems. This review summarizes π-conjugated small molecules and polymers by employing various NCLs for controlling molecular conformation in the past two years. The optoelectronic properties of the conjugated materials, together with their applications on organic field-effect transistors(OFETs)and organic photovoltaics(OPVs) are discussed. Besides, the outlook and challenges in this field are also presented. 10Cholinergic dysfunction-induced insufficient activation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor drives the development of rheumatoid arthritis through promoting protein citrullination via the SP3/PAD4 pathway显示文摘Both cholinergic dysfunction and protein citrullination are the hallmarks of rheumatoid arthritis(RA),but the relationship between the two phenomena remains unclear.We explored whether and how cholinergic dysfunction accelerates protein citrullination and consequently drives the development of RA.Cholinergic function and protein citrullination levels in patients with RA and collageninduced arthritis(CIA)mice were collected.In both neuron-macrophage coculture system and CIA mice,the effect of cholinergic dysfunction on protein citrullination and expression of peptidylarginine deiminases(PADs)was assessed by immunofluorescence.The key transcription factors for PAD4 expression were predicted and validated.Cholinergic dysfunction in the patients with RA and CIA mice negatively correlated with the degree of protein citrullination in synovial tissues.The cholinergic or alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor(a7nAChR)deactivation and activation resulted in the promotion and reduction of protein citrullination in vitro and in vivo,respectively.Especially,the activation deficiency of a7nAChR induced the earlier onset and aggravation of CIA.Furthermore,deactivation of a7nAChR increased the expression of PAD4 and specificity protein-3(SP3)in vitro and in vivo.Our results suggest that cholinergic dysfunction-induced deficient a7nAChR activation,which induces the expression of SP3 and its downstream molecule PAD4,accelerating protein citrullination and the development of RA.Changjun Lv Minghui Sun Yilei Guo Wenxin Xia Simiao Qiao Yu Tao Yulai Fang Qin Zhang Yanrong Zhu Yusufu Yalikun Yufeng Xia Zhifeng Wei Yue Dai 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,4:0
