| 1 | Annual cost of illness of stomach and esophageal cancer patientsin urban and rural areas in China: A multi-center study显示文摘Objective: Stomach and esophageal cancer are imposing huge threats to the health of Chinese people whereas there were few studies on the financial burden of the two cancers.Methods: Costs per hospitalization of all patients with stomach or esophageal cancer discharged between September 2015 and August 2016 in seven cities/counties in China were collected, together with their demographic information and clinical details. Former patients in the same hospitals were sampled to collect information on annual direct non-medical cost, indirect costs and annual number of hospitalization. Annual direct medical cost was obtained by multiplying cost per hospitalization by annual number of hospitalization. Annual cost of illness(ACI)was obtained by adding the average value of annual direct medical cost, direct non-medical cost and indirect cost,stratified by sex, age, clinical stage, therapy and pathologic type in urban and rural areas. Costs per hospitalization were itemized into eight parts to calculate the proportion of each part. All costs were converted to 2016 US dollars(1 USD=6.6423 RMB).Results: Totally 19,986 cases were included, predominately male. Mean ages of stomach cancer and urban patients were lower than that of esophageal cancer and rural patients. ACI of stomach and esophageal cancer patients were $10,449 and $13,029 in urban areas, and $2,927 and $3,504 in rural areas, respectively. Greater ACI was associated with male, non-elderly patients as well as those who were in stage I and underwent surgeries.Western medicine fee took the largest proportion of cost per hospitalization.Conclusions: The ACI of stomach and esophageal cancer was tremendous and varied substantially among the population in China. | 2 | A feasible strategy for focal cerebral ischemiareperfusion injury: remote ischemic postconditioning显示文摘It is difficult to control the degree of ischemic postconditioning in the brain and other ischemia-sensitive organs.Remote ischemic postconditioning could protect some ischemia-sensitive organs through measures on terminal organs.In this study,a focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model was established using three cycles of remote ischemic postconditioning,each cycle consisted of 10-minute occlusion of the femoral artery and 10-minute opening.The results showed that,remote ischemic postconditioning significantly decreased the percentage of the infarct area and attenuated brain edema.In addition,inflammatory nuclear factor-κB expression was significantly lower,while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression was significantly elevated in the cerebral cortex on the ischemic side.Our findings indicate that remote ischemic postconditioning attenuates focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,and that the neuroprotective mechanism is mediated by an anti-apoptotic effect and reduction of the inflammatory response. | Qiang Liu Shengnian Zhou Yaodong Wang Fang Qi Yuan Song Siwei Long | 2014 | Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,15: | 21 |
| 3 | Osteoporosis affects both post-yield microdamage accumulation and plasticity degradation in vertebra of ovariectomized rats显示文摘Estrogen withdrawal in postmenopausal women increases bone loss and bone fragility in the vertebra. Bone loss with osteoporosis not only reduces bone mineral density(BMD), but actually alters bone quality, which can be comprehensively represented by bone post-yield behaviors. This study aimed to provide some information as to how osteoporosis induced by estrogen depletion could influence the evolution of post-yield microdamage accumulation and plastic deformation in vertebral bodies. This study also tried to reveal the part of the mechanisms of how estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis would increase the bone fracture risk. A rat bilateral ovariectomy(OVX)model was used to induce osteoporosis. Progressive cyclic compression loading was developed for vertebra testing to elucidate the post-yield behaviors. BMD, bone volume fraction, stiffness degradation, and plastic deformation evolution were compared among rats raised for 5 weeks(ovx5w and sham5 w groups) and 35 weeks(ovx35w and sham35 w groups) after sham surgery and OVX. The results showedthat a higher bone loss in vertebral bodies corresponded to lower stiffness and higher plastic deformation. | 8 | Silk fibroin sponge combined with cell-derived ECM for tissueengineered 3D functional neural tissues显示文摘The construction of engineered neural tissue using cell-derived extracellular matrix(ECM)-modified scaffolds is a promising approach.Silk fibroin(SF)sponge is an advantageous scaffold for the construction of engineered neural tissues,but it can still be modified to enhance its bioactivity.Inactivated mouse embryonic fibroblasts(MEFs)are proven that they can secrete amounts of ECM and soluble factors including neurotrophic factors.MEFs-derived ECM is expected to improve the activity of the scaffold.Here we aimed to construct 3D functional neural tissues based on MEFs-derived ECM modified SF sponge.MEFs were cultured on porous SF sponges and decellularized with Triton X-100 and NH4OH.The decellularized ECM deposited scaffolds were characterized through scanning electron microscopy and confocal microscopy.The efficiency of decellularization was evaluated by quantifying remaining DNA.Besides,we investigated the primary cortical neuronal growth and 3D neural network formation effect on MEFs-derived ECM modified SF sponges.Compared to bare SF sponges,ECM-SF sponges showed improved neuronal growth and axon extension indicated by immunofluorescence staining and RT-PCR.Specifically,ECM-SF sponges showed increased 3D neural network formation with functional connectivity.Hence,this study demonstrated that functionalization of SF scaffolds using cell-derived ECM could improve the bioactivity of SF materials and provide an ideal microenvironment for functional neural tissue formation. | ZHU HuiMin LIU Wei YIN Qi LI SiWei WANG ChangYong SONG Lun QIAO Xin | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,10: | 0 |
| 9 | Optimal Scheduling of Residential Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning显示文摘Residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC) provides important demand response resources for the new power system with high proportion of renewable energy. Residential HAVC scheduling strategies that adapt to realtime electricity price signals formulated by demand response program and ambient temperature can significantly reduce electricity costs while ensuring occupants' comfort. However, since the pricing process and weather conditions are affected by many factors, conventional model-based method is difficult to meet the scheduling requirements in complex environments. To solve this problem, we propose an adaptive optimal scheduling strategy for residential HVAC based on deep reinforcement learning(DRL) method. The scheduling problem can be regarded as a Markov decision process(MDP). The proposed method can adaptively learn the state transition probability to make economical decision under the tolerance violations. Specifically, the residential thermal parameters obtained by the leastsquares parameter estimation(LSPE) can provide a basis for the state transition probability of MDP. | 11 | Surface reconstruction of Se-doped NiS_(2) enables high-efficiency oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘Surface reconstruction of electrocatalysts has been widely witnessed during the electrochemical processes.Here,NiS_(2),NiSe_(2), and Se doped NiS_(2)(Se-NiS_(2)) are fabricated for oxygen evolution reaction(OER) through a mild sulfuration and/or selenylation process of Ni(OH)_(2) supported on carbon cloth(CC).Through careful in-situ Raman spectroscopy and ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,surface reconstruction of NiS_(2),NiSe_(2),and Se-NiS_(2) during the OER process has been revealed.A potentialdependent study shows that Se-NiS_(2) undergoes surface evolution at lower potentials and requires the lowest potential for conversion to NiOOH as a highly OER-active species,accompanied by the leaching of SO_(4)^(2-) and SeO_(4)^(2-) that can again be adsorbed on the catalyst surface to enhance the catalytic activity.Density functional theory(DFT) calculations confirm that Se-NiS_(2) is more susceptible to surface oxidation through the OER process.Therefore,Se-NiS_(2) exhibits outstanding OER activity and stability in alkaline conditions,requiring an overpotential of 343 mV at a current density of 50 mA cm^(-2).A novel insight is provided by our work in understanding the surface reconstruction and electrocatalytic mechanism of Ni-based chalcogenides. | Mengxin Chen Yuanyuan Zhang Ran Wang Bin Zhang Bo Song Yanchao Guan Siwei Li Ping Xu | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,9: | 0 |

| 13 | Mapping soil organic matter in cultivated land based on multi-year composite images on monthly time scales显示文摘Rapid and accurate acquisition of soil organic matter(SOM)information in cultivated land is important for sustainable agricultural development and carbon balance management.This study proposed a novel approach to predict SOM with high accuracy using multiyear synthetic remote sensing variables on a monthly scale.We obtained 12 monthly synthetic Sentinel-2 images covering the study area from 2016 to 2021 through the Google Earth Engine(GEE)platform,and reflectance bands and vegetation indices were extracted from these composite images.Then the random forest(RF),support vector machine(SVM)and gradient boosting regression tree(GBRT)models were tested to investigate the difference in SOM prediction accuracy under different combinations of monthly synthetic variables.Results showed that firstly,all monthly synthetic spectral bands of Sentinel-2 showed a significant correlation with SOM(P<0.05)for the months of January,March,April,October,and November.Secondly,in terms of single-monthly composite variables,the prediction accuracy was relatively poor,with the highest R^(2)value of 0.36 being observed in January.When monthly synthetic environmental variables were grouped in accordance with the four quarters of the year,the first quarter and the fourth quarter showed good performance,and any combination of three quarters was similar in estimation accuracy.The overall best performance was observed when all monthly synthetic variables were incorporated into the models.Thirdly,among the three models compared,the RF model was consistently more accurate than the SVM and GBRT models,achieving an R^(2)value of 0.56.Except for band 12 in December,the importance of the remaining bands did not exhibit significant differences.This research offers a new attempt to map SOM with high accuracy and fine spatial resolution based on monthly synthetic Sentinel-2 images. | Jie Song Dongsheng Yu Siwei Wang Yanhe Zhao Xin Wang Lixia Ma Jiangang Li | 2024 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2024,23,4: | 0 |

| 15 | Incorporation of source contributions to improve the accuracy of soil heavy metal mapping using small sample sizes at a county scale显示文摘Estimating heavy metal(HM) distribution with high precision is the key to effectively preventing Chinese medicinal plants from being polluted by the native soil. A total of 44 surface soil samples were gathered to detect the concentrations of eight HMs(As, Hg, Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, Pb, and Cd) in the herb growing area of Luanping County, northeastern Hebei Province, China. An absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression(APCS-MLR) model was used to quantify pollution source contributions to soil HMs. Furthermore, the source contribution rates and environmental data of each sampling point were simultaneously incorporated into a stepwise linear regression model to identify the crucial indicators for predicting soil HM spatial distributions. Results showed that 88% of Cu, 72% of Cr, and 72% of Ni came from natural sources;50% of Zn, 49% of Pb, and 59% of Cd were mainly caused by agricultural activities;and 44% of As and 56% of Hg originated from industrial activities. When three-type(natural, agricultural, and industrial) source contribution rates and environmental data were simultaneously incorporated into the stepwise linear regression model, the fitting accuracy was significantly improved and the model could explain 31%–86% of the total variance in soil HM concentrations. | 16 | Theoretical studies of the proton transfer behaviors in molecular complexes analogous to catalytic triad of serine protease:Toward understanding the existence and significance of the low-barrier hydrogen-bond in enzymatic catalysis显示文摘A representative acetate-(5-methylimidazole)-methanol system has been employed as a model of catalytic triad in serine protease to validate the formation processes of lowbarrier H-bonds(LBHB) at the B3LYP/6-311++G level of theory,and variable H-bonding characters from conventional ones to LBHBs have been represented along with the proceedings of proton transfer.Solvent effect is an important factor in modulation of the existence of an LBHB,where an LBHB(or a conventional H-bond) in the gas phase can be changed into a non-LBHB(an LBHB) upon solvation.The origin of the additional stabili-zation energy arising from the LBHB may be attributed to the H-bonding energy difference before and after proton transfer because the shared proton can freely move between the proton donor and proton acceptor.Most importantly,the order of magnitude of the stabilization energy depends on the studied systems.Furthermore,the nonexistence of LBHBs in the catalytic triad of serine proteases has been verified in a more sophisticated model treated using the ONIOM method.As a result,only the single proton transfer mechanism in the catalytic triad has been confirmed and the origin of the powerful catalytic efficiency of serine proteases should be attributed to other factors rather than the LBHB. | LI Ping WANG WeiHua BI SiWei SONG Rui BU YuXiang | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,2: | 0 |
