3Correlation of pattern reversal visual evoked potential parameters with the pattern standard deviation in primary open angle glaucoma显示文摘AIM:To evaluate whether glaucomatous visual field defect particularly the pattern standard deviation(PSD)of Humphrey visual field could be associated with visual evoked potential(VEP)parameters of patients having primary open angle glaucoma(POAG).METHODS:Visual field by Humphrey perimetry and simultaneous recordings of pattern reversal visual evoked potential(PRVEP)were assessed in 100 patients with POAG.The stimulus configuration for VEP recordings consisted of the transient pattern reversal method in which a black and white checker board pattern was generated(full field)and displayed on VEP monitor(colour 14')by an electronic pattern regenerator inbuilt in an evoked potential recorder(RMS EMG EP MARK II).RESULTS:The results of our study indicate that there is a highly significant(P<0.001)negative correlation of P100 amplitude and a statistically significant(P<0.05)positive correlation of N70 latency,P100 latency and N155 latency with the PSD of Humphrey visual field in the subjects of POAG in various age groups as evaluated by Student's t-test.CONCLUSION:Prolongation of VEP latencies were mirrored by a corresponding increase of PSD values.Conversely,as PSD increases the magnitude of VEP excursions were found to be diminished.Ruchi Kothari Pradeep Bokariya Ramji Singh Smita Singh Purvasha Narang 2014International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014,7,2:3

11Schizophrenia with and without obsessive-compulsive symptoms:a comparative analysis of performance on trail making test and disability on WHOD AS显示文摘Background Presence of obsessive-compulsive symptoms(0CS)affects performance on tests of some cognitive functions,such as the trail making test(TMT),and may affect the level of disability in schizophrenia(SZ).Aim s The aim of the present study was to compare performance on TMT and disability on WHO Disability Assessment Schedule(WHODAS)in persons with SZ with and without 0CS in a cross-sectional study.Methods Persons with SZ(n=200)fulfilling DSM-V(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual)diagnostic criteria were assessed on Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale(YB0CS)and divided into two groups based on presence or absence of OCS.TMT and WHODAS V.2.0 were applied.The two groups as a whole,as well as a subsample matched on age,gender and age of onset were compared.Results Out of 200 persons with SZ,37(18.5%)reported OCS.The OCS group took a significantly longer mean time to complete TMT-A(Z=-3.02,p=0.003)as well as TMT-B(Z=-3.551,p<0.001).Significant correlations were found between TMT-A and total YB0CS Scores(r=0.351,p=0.033),as well as TMT-A and YB0CS compulsion scores(r=0.404,p=0.013)but not with TMT-B Scores.The OCS group reported greater disability in all domains separately as well as on average WHODAS Scores(Z=-5.969,p<0.001).Significant correlations were found between YB0CS obsession scores and YBOCS total scores with average WHODAS Scores(r=0.614,p<0.001 and r=0.406,p=0.013,respectively).We obtained essentially similar results with the matched subsample as well as with the entire group.Conclusion Persons with SZ and comorbid OCS had significantly poorer performance on TMTs and greater disability in comparison to persons with SZ alone.Magnitude of disability correlated with severity of OCS.Apala Singh Ram Pratap Beniwal Triptish Bhatia Smita Neelkanth Deshpande 2020General Psychiatry2020,33,6:0
12Diagnostic dilemma in a patient with chronic non-healing ulcer on leg:A case report显示文摘Rationale:Though cutaneous tuberculosis accounts for a small proportion of all tuberculosis cases,it becomes an important health issue considering its high prevalence in tropical countries.Due to its myriad clinical manifestations,it becomes difficult to diagnose and may pose a great diagnostic dilemma.Patient concerns:A 17-year-old male complaint of ulcerproliferative lesion on the left lower leg for 5 years.There was no history suggestive of tuberculosis.On cutaneous examination,single well-defined erosiocrustive plaque of size 14 cm×13 cm with yellowish adherent crust presented over the left lower leg.The underlying surface shows ulceration after removing the crust.Diagnosis:Ulcerative Lupus vulgaris.Interventions:Anti-tubercular drug therapy(isoniazid,rifampicin,pyrazinamide and ethambutol).Outcomes:Lesion showed dramatic improvement after one month of anti-tubercular therapy.Lessons:Dermatologists should be aware of variable clinical presentations of cutaneous tuberculosis so as to diagnose it timely and correctly.Mendiratta Vibhu Meena Amit Singh Smita 2022Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2022,15,12:0
