| 1 | Broadband achromatic metalens in terahertz regime显示文摘Achromatic focusing is essential for broadband operation, which has recently been realised from visible to infrared wavelengths using a metasurface. Similarly, multi-terahertz functional devices can be encoded in a desired metasurface phase profile. However, metalenses suffer from larger chromatic aberrations because of the intrinsic dispersion of each unit element. Here, we propose an achromatic metalens with C-shaped unit elements working from 0.3 to 0.8 THz with a bandwidth of approximately 91% over the centre frequency. The designed metalens possesses a high working efficiency of more than 68% at the peak and a relatively high numerical aperture of 0.385. We further demonstrate the robustness of our Cshaped metalens, considering lateral shape deformations and deviations in the etching depth. | 2 | Progress on design and related R&D activities for the water-cooled breeder blanket for CFETR显示文摘The water-cooled ceramic breeder (WCCB) blanket is one of the blanket candidates for Chinese fusion engineering testing reactor (CFETR) and is being developed at the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP). This paper reviews design and evolution of the WCCB blanket for CFETR, and presents a new WCCB blanket design according to the latest CFETR core parameters (major and minor radii are R = 7.2 m and a = 2.2 m, respectively) and missions. This new design is expected to satisfy multiple CFETR operation modes of 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 GW fusion power and achieve tritium self-sufficiency. The feasibility of the updated blanket design is evaluated from the aspects of neutronics and thermo-hydraulics. | 10 | Arbitrary terahertz chirality construction and flexible manipulation enabled by anisotropic liquid crystal coupled chiral metasurfaces显示文摘Chiral metasurfaces integrated with active materials can dynamically control the chirality of electromagnetic waves,making them highly significant in physics,chemistry,and biology.Herein,we theoretically proposed a general and feasible design scheme to develop a chiral metadevice based on a bilayer anisotropic metasurface and a monolayer liquid crystal(LC),which can construct and flexibly manipulate arbitrary terahertz(THz)chirality.When the twist angle between the anisotropic axes of two metasurfacesθis not 0°,the spatial mirror symmetry of the chiral metadevice is broken,resulting in a strong THz chiral response.In addition,the introduction of anisotropic LCs not only enhances the chiral response of the metadevice but also induces the flipping modulation and frequency tunability of the chirality.More importantly,by optimizing theθ,we can flexibly design the arbitrary chiral response and the operating frequency of chirality,thereby promoting the emergence of various chiral manipulation devices.The experimental results show that the maximum circular dichroism can reach-33 d B at 0.94 THz and flip to 28 d B at 0.69 THz by rotating the LC optical axis from the x to y axis,with the maximum operating frequency tunable range of~120 GHz.We expect this design strategy can create new possibilities for the advancement of active THz chiral devices and their applications,including chiral spectroscopy,molecular recognition,biosensing,and fingerprint detection. | XINHAO JIANG YUNYUN JI FEI FAN SONGLIN JIANG ZHIYU TAN HUIJUN ZHAO JIERONG CHENG SHENGJIANG CHANG | 2023 | Photonics Research2023,11,11: | 0 |

| 12 | Transcriptome analysis and candidate gene identification reveals insights into the molecular mechanisms of hypermelanosis in Chinese tongue sole(Cynoglossus semilaevis)显示文摘Blind-side hypermelanosis has emerged as a major concern in flatfish aquaculture worldwide,including tongue sole(Cynoglossus semilaevis)in China.The causative gene and the molecular basis are still unclear.In this study,comparative transcriptome analyses were performed using different skin tissues of tongue sole:ocular-side normal(pigmented)skin,blind-side normal(non-pigmented)skin and blind-side hypermelanotic(pigmented)skin.Finally,60 key hypermelanosis-related genes were mined,providing potential candidate gene resources involved in blind-side hypermelanosis.These genes were selected based on the log2(FoldChange)and false discovery rate(FDR)values(with corresponding P-Values<0.05),and they were verified in other species to assess if they were directly or indirectly related to melanogenesis.The protein-protein interaction network of these 60 genes and the relationship between tyr and other key hypermelanosis-related genes were illustrated.The qRT-PCR validation of 16 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)showed that the data of qRT-PCR were consistent with those of RNA-seq.Further analyses revealed that the selected DEGs were significantly overrepresented in several pigment metabolic processes and in the melanogenesis pathway.Our results may imply that blind-side hypermelanosis is a pattern of environmental regulation of gene expression and adaptation in flatfish.Membrane transport proteins(such as OCA2 and SLC45A2)may serve as a“switch”for melanogenesis in tongue sole.Overall,this study provided novel insights into the molecular mechanism of hypermelanosis in flatfish species and will facilitate future selective breeding of tongue sole for this market-favoured trait in aquaculture. | Yangzhen Li Peng Cheng Ming Li Yuanri Hu Zhongkai Cui Chuantao Zhang Songlin Chen | 2022 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,6: | 0 |

| 14 | PIXE and INAA studies on ancient potteries from Guangfulin relics in Shanghai显示文摘This paper reports the study of ancient potteries unearthed from the Guangfulin site in Shanghai. From the external features of these potteries, archeologists can classify them into two different cultural types: Liangzhu culture (local culture) and a new culture which might be derived elsewhere, but they can not recognize whether they were produced in the same place. Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) were used to measure the chemical compositions of the samples and the results were analyzed using multivariate statistics. We found that the two methods can complement each other and their database can be mutually referenced in the study of ancient potteries. Experimental results show that the compositions of the potteries from the two cultural types are different, which means that the materials for ancient potteries of new culture originate from elsewhere. | 17 | The spatial transcriptomic landscape of human gingiva in health and periodontitis显示文摘The gingiva is a key oral barrier that protects oral tissues from various stimuli.A loss of gingival tissue homeostasis causes periodontitis,one of the most prevalent inflammatory diseases in humans.The human gingiva exists as a complex cell network comprising specialized structures.To understand the tissue-specific pathophysiology of the gingiva,we applied a recently developed spatial enhanced resolution omics-sequencing(Stereo-seq)technique to obtain a spatial transcriptome(ST)atlas of the gingiva in healthy individuals and periodontitis patients.By utilizing Stereo-seq,we identified the major cell types present in the gingiva,which included epithelial cells,fibroblasts,endothelial cells,and immune cells,as well as subgroups of epithelial cells and immune cells.We further observed that inflammation-related signalling pathways,such as the JAK-STAT and NF-κB signalling pathways,were significantly upregulated in the endothelial cells of the gingiva of periodontitis patients compared with those of healthy individuals.Additionally,we characterized the spatial distribution of periodontitis risk genes in the gingiva and found that the expression of IFI16 was significantly increased in endothelial cells of inflamed gingiva.In conclusion,our Stereo-seq findings may facilitate the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for periodontitis by mapping periodontitis-relevant genes and pathways and effector cells. | Zongshan Shen Ran Zhang Yunjia Huang Jiayao Chen Mengjun Yu Chunhua Li Yong Zhang Lingling Chen Xin Huang Jichen Yang Zhengmei Lin Songlin Wang Bin Cheng | 2024 | Science China(Life Sciences)2024,67,4: | 0 |
| 18 | Safety and efficacy of Endovascular Management of high-grade blunt renal injury显示文摘Objectives:To provide data on the safety and efficacy of renal arterial embolization(RAE)in patients with highgrade blunt renal injury.Materials and methods:Fifteen patients with high-grade blunt renal injury(AAST grades IV-V)admitted to our hospital from July 2014 to December 2019 were retrospectively reviewed in this study.Their clinical success rate and complications were investigated accordingly.Results:Fifteen patients with high-grade blunt renal injury,13 men and 2 women with an average age of 41.6 years,including 11 hemodynamically unstable patients and 4 stable patients,were treated with RAE.Among these patients,73.3%(11 of 15)had grade IV,and 26.7%(4 of 15)had grade V injuries,while 53.3%(8 of 15)patients had concomitant injuries.One patient received main RAE and 14 patients received selective RAE.The clinical success rate after the first embolization was 93.3%(14 of 15).RAE was repeated and was successfully performed in one patient with sustained hematuria.No significant difference in creatinine levels was found before and after embolization.During the follow-up period of 2–82 months,two patients required tube drainage due to urine leaks,one patient developed renal failure requiring renal replacement therapy,and one patient developed secondary hypertension.Conclusions:RAE can provide a high success rate of hemostasis for both hemodynamically stable and unstable patients with high-grade blunt renal injury,and only minor complications are observed with this procedure. | Bin Wang Chongpei Wen Songlin Song Guilian Li Yanggang Yan Shoucai Cheng Junmei Zeng Zhidong Lin Yong Wang | 2022 | Journal of Interventional Medicine2022,5,1: | 0 |
