1Early prediction of pathological outcomes to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients using automated breast ultrasound显示文摘Objective: Early assessment of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) for breast cancer allows therapy to be individualized.The optimal assessment method has not been established.We investigated the accuracy of automated breast ultrasound(ABUS) to predict pathological outcomes after NAC.Methods: A total of 290 breast cancer patients were eligible for this study.Tumor response after 2 cycles of chemotherapy was assessed using the product change of two largest perpendicular diameters(PC) or the longest diameter change(LDC).PC and LDC were analyzed on the axial and the coronal planes respectively.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were used to evaluate overall performance of the prediction methods.Youden's indexes were calculated to select the optimal cut-off value for each method.Sensitivity, specificity,positive and negative predictive values(PPV and NPV) and the area under the ROC curve(AUC) were calculated accordingly.Results: yp T0/is was achieved in 42 patients(14.5%) while yp T0 was achieved in 30 patients(10.3%) after NAC.All four prediction methods(PC on axial planes, LDC on axial planes, PC on coronal planes and LDC on coronal planes) displayed high AUCs(all>0.82), with the highest of 0.89 [95% confidence interval(95% CI), 0.83–0.95]when mid-treatment ABUS was used to predict final pathological complete remission(p CR).High sensitivities(85.7%–88.1%) were observed across all four prediction methods while high specificities(81.5%–85.1%) were observed in two methods used PC.The optimal cut-off values defined by our data replicate the WHO and the RECIST criteria.Lower AUCs were observed when mid-treatment ABUS was used to predict poor pathological outcomes.Conclusions: ABUS is a useful tool in early evaluation of p CR after NAC while less reliable when predicting poor pathological outcomes.Xinguang Wang Ling Huo Yingjian He Zhaoqing Fan Tianfeng Wang Yuntao Xie Jinfeng Li Tao Ouyang 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,5:11
2Algorithm of Micro-Grooving and Imaging Processing for the Generation of High-Resolution Structural Color Images显示文摘The use of submicron structures for structural coloration of surfaces has broad applications for color filters,projection displays,virtual reality,and anti-counterfeiting.Currently,structural color images lack high resolution due to low manufacturing accuracy.In this study,the axial-feed fly cutting(AFC)method is proposed to fabricate submicron grooves for the diffraction of visible light to create structural color images.We establish the relationship between the color information in the pixels of the original image and the parameters of the array units corresponding to the pixels.An algorithm to determine groove spacing and the tool path is established,and array units with the desired groove spacing are machined to reproduce the structural color images.The submicron grooves fabricated by AFC have high quality and good consistency.Due to the excellent diffraction performance of the machined grooves,images with high saturation and resolution can be reproduced.It is verified that images with various colors can be efficiently fabricated using the proposed method and algorithm.Tianfeng Zhou Yupeng He Tianxing Wang Xiaobin Dong Peng Liu Wenxiang Zhao Yao Hu Jiwang Yan 2020Nanomanufacturing and Metrology2020,3,3:4

5Value of pre-treatment biomarkers in prediction of response to neoadjuvant endocrine therapy for hormone receptor-positive postmenopausal breast cancer显示文摘Objective: To determine the predictive ability of biomarkers for responses to neoadjuvant endocrine therapy (NET) in postmenopausal breast cancer. Methods: Consecutive 160 postmenopausal women with T 1-3 N 0-1 M 0 hormone receptor (HR)-positive invasive breast cancer were treated with anastrozole for 16 weeks before surgery. New slides of tumor specimens taken before and after treatment were conducted centrally for biomarker analysis and classified using the Applied Imaging Ariol MB-8 system. The pathological response was evaluated using the Miller & Payne classification. The cell cycle response was classified according to the change in the Ki67 index after treatment. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the combined index of the biomarkers. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to determine whether parameters may predict response. Results: The correlation between the pathological and cell cycle responses was low (Spearman correlation coefficient =0.241, P<0.001; Kappa value =0.119, P=0.032). The cell cycle response was significantly associated with pre-treatment estrogen receptor (ER) status (P=0.001), progesterone receptor (PgR) status (P<0.001), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her-2) status (P=0.050) and the Ki67 index (P<0.001), but the pathological response was not correlated with these factors. Pre-treatment ER levels [area under the curve (AUC) =0.634, 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 0.534-0.735, P=0.008] and combined index of pre-treatment ER and PgR levels (AUC =0.684, 95% CI, 0.591-0.776, P<0.001) could not predict the cell cycle response, but combined index including per-treatment ER/PR/Her-2/Ki67 expression levels could (AUC =0.830, 95% CI, 0.759-0.902, P<0.001). 7Rockburst mechanism and the law of energy accumulation and release in mining roadway: a case study显示文摘The rockburst dynamic disasters in the process of deep coal mining become more and more serious.Taking the rockburst occurred in the 23130 working face of Yuejin Coal Mine as the engineering background,we study the characteristics of mining stress feld around roadway,the plastic failure morphological characteristics of surrounding rock and the accumulation/release law of elastic energy before and after burst.An analysis model quantitatively describing the physical process of rockburst in the mining roadway is established,and the calculation method of dynamic release of elastic energy in the physical process of rockburst is educed.The mechanism of rockburst in mining roadway is revealed.The results show that an“L-shaped”stress concentration zone is formed within 100 m of the 23130 working face,and the principal stress ratio of the surrounding rock of the transportation roadway is 2.59–4.26.The change of the direction of the maximum principal stress has a signifcant efect on the burst appearance characteristics.The failure strength of diferent sections of the mining roadway is characterized by the elastic energy release value.With the increase of the working face distance,the elastic energy released by burst failure and the expansion variation of failure boundary radius show a nonlinear variation law that tends to decrease steadily after sharp fuctuation.The closer to the working face,the higher the burst risk.At a distance of 10 m from the working surface,the maximum principal stress reaches its maximum value.The butterfy-shaped failure system generated by the surrounding rock of the roadway has energy self-sustainability,and the elastic energy released by the sudden expansion of the butterfy leaf is enough to cause a burst damage of 1.9 magnitude.This work could provide theoretical support for the prediction and prevention of rockburst.Feng Du Ji Ma Xiaofei Guo Tianfeng Wang Xiaohang Dong Jiashuo Li Shulei He Dilinaer Nuerjuma 2022International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2022,9,5:1
8Meta-Analysis of Smoking and the Risk of Gastric Cancer among the Chinese Population显示文摘OBJECTIVE To reevaluate the effect of tobacco smoking on therisk of developing gastric cancer among the Chinese population.METHODS Thirty articles from the literature both in Chineseand English from January,1988 to present were identified andfrom which adjusted odd ratios(ORs)or relative risks(RRs)werecombined by meta-analysis.Generalized least squares(GLS)fortrend estimation of summarized dose-response data was carriedout.All the analyses were performed using software of STATAversion 10.0.RESULTS Comparing current smokers with subjects who havenever smoked,the summary effect values on gastric cancer witha 95% confidence interval(CI)were 1.67(1.43-1.96)for case-control studies and 1.52(1.17-1.96)for cohort studies,respectively.The combined effect values with a 95%CI for the comparison ofsmoking quantity of current smokers with the referent groupwere 1.41(1.15-1.72)for case-control studies and 1.24(1.02-1.52)for cohort studies,respectively.The combined effect values witha 95%CI for the comparison of accumulative years smoked ofcurrent smokers with the referent group were 1.07(0.89-1.28)for case-control studies and 1.28(0.95-1.74)for cohort studies,respectively.Dose-response meta-analysis showed that the gastriccancer risk will increase 50%(OR=1.50,95%CI:1.34-1.67)witheach 20 cigarette per day increment and increase 14%(OR=1.14,95%CI:1.10-1.18)with each 10 year increment of smoking.CONCLUSION The gastric cancer risk among the Chinesepopulation is significantly associated with tobacco smoking andthe smoking quantity per day.Smoking cessation should be morestrongly advocated.Na Liu Yueping Shen Liqiang Qin Tianfeng He Yinmei Liu 2009Clinical oncology and cancer resexreh2009,6,4:0
