| 2 | Pressure fluctuation propagation of a pump turbine at pump mode under low head condition显示文摘Pressure fluctuation at the vaneless space and vanes passages is one of the most important problems for the stable operation of a pump turbine.The fluctuation appears in any operating condition.Much research has been done on the pressure fluctuation of hydraulic machinery.However,the details of pressure fluctuation propagation of the pump turbine at the pump mode have not been revealed.The modern pump turbine with high water head requires the runner to be'flat',which would induce pressure fluctuation more easily than the low head pump turbine.In this article,a high head pump turbine model is used as the research object.As the pressure fluctuation at off-design point is more serious than at the design point,the low head condition is chosen as the research condition.Pressure fluctuation at the vaneless space and vanes passages is predicted by the computational fluid dynamics method based on k-?shear stress transport model.The experiment conducted on the test rig of the Harbin Institute of Large Electrical Machinery is used to verify the simulation method.It proves that the numerical method is a feasible way to research the fluctuation under this operating condition.The pressure fluctuation along the passage direction is analyzed at time and frequency domains.It is affected mainly by the interaction between the runner and vanes.In the circumferential direction,the influence of the special stay vane on the pressure fluctuation is got.The amplitude in the high-pressure side passage of that vane is lower than that in the other side.The study provides a basic understanding of the pressure fluctuation of a pump turbine and could be used as a reference to improve the operation stability of it. | GUO Lei LIU JinTao WANG LeQin QIN DaQing WEI XianZhu | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,4: | 19 |
| 3 | Macro/meso failure behavior of surrounding rock in deep roadway and its control technology显示文摘Engineering disasters occur frequently and violently with the increase in mining depth, which is mostly due to insufficient study on the failure mechanism of the deep rock mass. In this paper, theoretical and experimental researches on the failure behaviors and deformation control of deep surrounding rock in recent years were reviewed. Macro/meso failure mechanism of deep rock or coal-rock combined body under different loading conditions have been systematically investigated. Stress gradient failure theory of surrounding rock, uniform strength support in the deep roadway, and the analogous hyperbola movement model of overlying strata were preliminary established and a combined grouting control technology for surface and underground was proposed. | 4 | High energy soliton pulse generation by a magnetron-sputtering-deposition-grown MoTe_2 saturable absorber显示文摘The pulse energy in the ultrafast soliton fiber laser oscillators is usually limited by the well-known wave-breaking phenomenon owing to the absence of a desirable real saturable absorber(SA) with high power tolerance and large modulation depth. Here, we report a type of microfiber-based MoTe_2 SA fabricated by the magnetron-sputtering deposition(MSD) method. High-energy wave-breaking free soliton pulses were generated with pulse duration/pulse energy/average output power of 229 fs/2.14 nJ/57 mW in the 1.5 μm regime and 1.3 ps/13.8 nJ/212 mW in the 2 μm regime, respectively. To our knowledge, the generated soliton pulses at 1.5 μm had the shortest pulse duration and the highest output power among the reported erbium-doped fiber lasers mode locked by transition metal dichalcogenides. Moreover, this was the first demonstration of a MoTe_2-based SA in fiber lasers in the 2 μm regime, and the pulse energy/output power are the highest in the reported thulium-doped fiber lasers mode locked by two-dimensional materials. | 5 | A novel colloidal gold immunochromatography assay strip for the diagnosis of schistosomiasis japonica in domestic animals显示文摘Background:Schistosomiasis remains a major public health concern in China and an epidemiological survey has revealed that schistosome-infected bovines and goats are the main transmission sources for the disease.Therefore,development of a sensitive technique for the diagnosis of schistosomiasis in domestic animals is necessary.Method:A novel colloidal gold immunochromatography assay(GICA)strip was developed for detecting Schistosoma japonicum in domestic animals.The colloidal gold was conjugated with recombinant streptococcal protein G(rSPG).As the test and control lines,the schistosome soluble egg antigen and rSPG,respectively,were blotted on nitrocellulose membrane.Results:The lowest detectable serum dilution was 1∶640 for schistosome-infected buffaloes.The cross-reaction rate of GICA was 14.29%with Paramphistomum sp.in buffaloes,16.67%with Haemonchus sp.in goats,and 33.33%with Orientobilharzia sp.in goats.These results were slightly lower and similar to those obtained through ELISA.Moreover,the strips for detecting S.japonicum in mice,rabbits,buffaloes,and goats showed high sensitivity(100.00%,100.00%,100.00%,and 100.00%,respectively)and specificity(100.00%,100.00%,94.23%,and 88.64%,respectively).And the sensitivity or specificity of the GICA strips did not present any significant differences after storage for 12 months at room temperature.When compared with ELISA,the GICA strips exhibited similar sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of schistosomiasis in mice,rabbits,buffaloes,and goats.Besides,only 5μl of serum are required for the test and the detection can be completed within 5 min.Conclusion:This study is the first to develop a GICA strip using gold-rSPG conjugate for the diagnosing of schistosomiasis in domestic animals,and preliminary results showed that the developed strip may be suitable for large-scale screening of schistosomiasis in endemic areas. | Rui Xu Jintao Feng Yang Hong Chao Lv Dengyun Zhao Jiaojiao Lin Ke Lu Hao Li Jinming Liu Xiaodan Cao Tao Wang Jinli Zai Zhaozhe Wang Bingguang Jia Qian Han Chuangang Zhu | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1: | 12 |

| 7 | Projecting distributions of Argentine shortfin squid(Illex argentinus)in the Southwest Atlantic using a complex integrated model显示文摘We developed an approach that integrates generalized additive model(GAM) and neural network model(NNM)for projecting the distribution of Argentine shortfin squid(Illex argentinus). The data for this paper was based on commercial fishery data and relevant remote sensing environmental data including sea surface temperature(SST), sea surface height(SSH) and chlorophyll a(Chl a) from January to June during 2003 to 2011. The GAM was used to identify the significant oceanographic variables and establish their relationships with the fishery catch per unit effort(CPUE). The NNM with the GAM identified significant variables as input vectors was used for predicting spatial distribution of CPUE. The GAM was found to explain 53.8% variances for CPUE. The spatial variables(longitude and latitude) and environmental variables(SST, SSH and Chl a) were significant. The CPUE had nonlinear relationship with SST and SSH but a linear relationship with Chl a. | 8 | Erosion behavior and failure mechanism of Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings eroded by silica sand and glass beads显示文摘Severe erosion by hard particles is a crucial problem to engine blades when aircraft take off and land in harsh environments, especially for the developed lightweight titanium alloy components. Here, we deposited the Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings with various cycles on Ti–6 Al–4 V substrates by a home-made hybrid multisource cathodic arc system. The effects of the silica sand and glass beads on erosion behavior of the coatings were focused. Results showed that the Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings eroded by the silica sand exhibited the predominant 'layer by layer' failure mechanism. In particular, increasing the number of cycles led to the dramatic increase in erosion rate for Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings, due to the deterioration of their mechanical properties. Different from the silica sand case, however, the erosion rate of the coatings treated by glass beads indicated faint dependence upon the number of cycles, where the coating failure was dominated by the 'piece by piece' failure mechanism. Noted that the Ti layers along with the formed interfaces enhanced the erosion resistance of the coatings, although the failure mechanisms were differently eroded by silica sand and glass beads. | 10 | Investigation of acetylated kapok fibers on the sorption of oil in water显示文摘Kapok fibers have been acetylated for oil spill cleanup in the aqueous environment. The structures of raw and acetylated kapok fiber were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Without severe damage to the lumen structures, the kapok fibers were successfully acetylated and the resulting fibers exhibited a better oil sorption capacity than raw fibers for diesel and soybean oil. Compared with high viscosity soybean oil, low viscosity diesel shows a better affinity to the surface of acetylated fibers. Sorption kinetics is fitted well by the pseudo second-order model, and the equilibrium data can be described by the Freundlich isotherm model. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Yishendaluo decoction on a mouse model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The randomized,controlled,neuropathological,and molecular biological animal study was performed at the Key Laboratory of Chinese Internal Medicine,Ministry of Education,Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Center for Neuroinformatics,General Hospital of Chinese PLA from 2005 to 2006. MATERIALS:Yishendaluo decoction pieces consisting of prepared rehmannia root,colla cornus cervi,cape jasmine fruit,and grassleaf sweetflag rhizome were purchased from the Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.Rabbit anti-mouseβ-amyloid precursor protein and p38 polyclonal antibody(Zhongshan Goldenbridge Biotechnology,China),as well interferon-γand interleukin-4 ELISA kit(Boster,China),were used in this study. METHODS:A total of 96 healthy,female,SJL/J mice,aged 8-12 weeks,were equally and randomly assigned to normal,model,hormone,and Chinese medicine groups.A total of 0.2 mL antigen preparation,supplemented with 150μg PLP139-151 and 400μg H37RA,was subcutaneously injected into the upper abdomen of mice from the model,hormone,and Chinese medicine groups. Mouse models of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis were established by intravenous injection of 0.1 mL Bordetella pertussis solution containing 0.6×10~6 Bordetella pertussis at days 1 and 3.Mice from the model,Chinese medicine,and hormone groups were respectively subjected to 0.2 mL saline,2 g/kg Yishendaluo decoction,and 0.078 mg/kg prednisone acetate,once daily for 14 consecutive days.Mice from the normal group were left intact. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Pathological changes were observed using hematoxylin-eosin staining and Luxol fast blue staining.Expression ofβ-amyloid precursor protein and p38 protein was determined by immunohistochemistry.Levels of interferon-γand interleukin-4 were detected by ELISA.Behavioral changes were assessed in mice according to scores of neurological function. RESULTS:A few inflammatory cell infiltration,nerve fiber breakage and slight demyelination were detected in the central nervous system of mice from the Chinese medicine and hormone groups compared with the model group.Expression ofβ-amyloid precursor protein and p38 protein was significantly diminished in the central nervous system of mice from the Chinese medicine and hormone groups compared with the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the decrease was greatest in the Chinese medicine group.The decrease in mouse weight was not significant,and neurological function scores were less in the Chinese medicine and hormone groups compared with the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Interferon-γlevels were significantly reduced(P<0.01),and interleukin-4 levels were significantly increased(P<0.01) in the brains of the Chinese medicine and hormone groups,compared with the model group. | 13 | Amplitude of sensory nerve action potential in early stage diabetic peripheral neuropathy:an analysis of 500 cases显示文摘Early diagnosis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is important for the successful treatment of diabetes mellitus. In the present study, we recruited 500 diabetic patients from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University in China from June 2008 to September 2013: 221 cases showed symptoms of peripheral neuropathy(symptomatic group) and 279 cases had no symptoms of peripheral impairment(asymptomatic group). One hundred healthy control subjects were also recruited. Nerve conduction studies revealed that distal motor latency was longer, sensory nerve conduction velocity was slower, and sensory nerve action potential and amplitude of compound muscle action potential were significantly lower in the median, ulnar, posterior tibial and common peroneal nerve in the diabetic groups compared with control subjects. Moreover, the alterations were more obvious in patients with symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. Of the 500 diabetic patients, neural conduction abnormalities were detected in 358 cases(71.6%), among which impairment of the common peroneal nerve was most prominent. Sensory nerve abnormality was more obvious than motor nerve abnormality in the diabetic groups. The amplitude of sensory nerve action potential was the most sensitive measure of peripheral neuropathy. | 14 | JNK3 involvement in nerve cell apoptosis and neurofunctional recovery after traumatic brain injury显示文摘Increasing evidence has revealed that the activation of the JNK pathway participates in apoptosis of nerve cells and neurological function recovery after traumatic brain injury. However, which genes in the JNK family are activated and their role in traumatic brain injury remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, in situ end labeling, reverse transcription-PCR and neurological function assessment were adopted to investigate the alteration of JNK1, JNK2 and JNK3 gene expression in cerebral injured rats, and their role in cell apoptosis and neurological function restoration. Results showed that JNK3 expression significantly decreased at 1 and 6 hours and 1 and 7 days post injury, but that JNK1 and JNK2 expression remained unchanged. In addition, the number of apoptotic nerve cells surrounding the injured cerebral cortex gradually reduced over time post injury. The Neurological Severity Scores gradually decreased over 1, 3, 5, 14 and 28 days post injury. These findings suggested that JNK3 expression was downregulated at early stages of brain injury, which may be associated with apoptosis of nerve cells. | 15 | Mesoscale fracture behavior of Longmaxi outcrop shale with different bedding angles:Experimental and numerical investigations显示文摘The mechanical properties and fracturing mechanism of shale containing beddings are critically important in shale gas exploitation and wellbore stability.To investigate the effects of shale bedding on crack behavior and fracturing mechanism,scanning electron microscope(SEM)with a loading system was employed to carry out three-point bending tests on Longmaxi outcrop shale.The crack initiation and propagation of Longmaxi shale were observed and recorded by taking photos during loading.The cracking paths were extracted to calculate the crack length through a MATLAB program.The peak load,fracture toughness and fracture energy all increase with the bedding angle from 0°to 90°.The crack length and energy were also found to increase with the bedding angle in the range of 0°-600 and then drop slightly.The fracturing mechanism of shale includes the main crack affected by the bedding angle and disturbed by randomly distributed particles.The main cracking path was accompanied by several microcrack branches which could form an interconnected crack system.When the main crack encounters larger sedimentary particles,it will deflect around the particles and then restore to the initial direction.A numerical technique using extended finite element method(XFEM)coupled with anisotropic cohesive damage criteria was developed,which is able to capture the dependence of crack propagations on bedding angle and sedimentary particles.This study sheds light on understanding and predicting mesoscale fracture behavior of shale with different bedding angles. | Jianping Zuo Jingfang Lu Rojin Ghandriz Jintao Wang Yanhong Li Xiaoyan Zhang Jun Li Hongtao Li | 2020 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,2: | 4 |

| 17 | A stock assessment for Illex argentinus in Southwest Atlantic using an environmentally dependent surplus production model显示文摘The southern Patagonian stock(SPS) of Argentinian shortfin squid, Illex argentinus, is an economically important squid fishery in the Southwest Atlantic. Environmental conditions in the region play an important role in regulating the population dynamics of the I. argentinus population. This study develops an environmentally dependent surplus production(EDSP) model to evaluate the stock abundance of I. argentines during the period of 2000 to 2010. The environmental factors(favorable spawning habitat areas with sea surface temperature of 16–18°C) were assumed to be closely associated with carrying capacity(K) in the EDSP model. Deviance Information Criterion(DIC) values suggest that the estimated EDSP model with environmental factors fits the data better than a Schaefer surplus model without environmental factors under uniform and normal scenarios.The EDSP model estimated a maximum sustainable yield(MSY) from 351 600 t to 685 100 t and a biomass from 1 322 400 t to1 803 000 t. The fishing mortality coefficient of I. argentinus from 2000 to 2010 was smaller than the values of F_(0.1) and F_(MSY). Furthermore, the time series biomass plot of I. argentinus from 2000 to 2010 shows that the biomass of I.argentinus and this fishery were in a good state and not presently experiencing overfishing.
