1Influence of moisture on the growth and biomass allocation in Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix ramosissima seedlings in the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway, Xinjiang, China显示文摘The authors studied the effects using three different levels of irrigation on the growth and biomass allocation in H. ammodendron and T. ramosissima seedlings in the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway. The three irrigation amounts were 35 (CK), 24.5 (treatment 1), and 14 (treatment 2) kg·ind. plant-1·once-1, respectively. The results show that (1) the vertical depth of the two seedlings’ root increased with lower levels of irrigation showing that the two species adapted to decreased irrigation by root elongation in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert, and the vertical root depth of H. ammodendron under treatment 2 was notably higher than CK. (2) Compared with CK, the belowground biomass of treatment 1 and 2 both showed a significant increase as follows: H. ammodendron seedlings in- creased by 14.51% and 37.03% under treatment 1 and 2, respectively, while T. ramosissima seedlings increased by 68.19% and 25.78% under treatment 1 and 2, respectively. This means that H. ammoden- dron seedlings were more adapted to the conditions in treatment 2 while T. ramosissima seedlings were better adapted to treatment 1 conditions. (3) When compared with CK, the fine root bomass of these two species all exhibited some increase under both treatments, and ANOVA analysis showed that the biomass of deep layer root of the two species under treatment 2 was notably higher than CK and treatment 1. This should help seedlings to more effectively absorb soil water from deep layers during dry conditions. (4) The root-shoot ratio was different for these two species. For H. ammodendron seed- lings, the root-shoot ratio was less than 1, while for T. ramosissim seedlings it was larger than 1. The root-shoot ratio of H. ammodendron seedlings increased with decreasing levels of irrigation, and that of T. ramosissim seedlings also increased under treatment 2. 2Endovascular treatment with or without intravenous alteplase for acute ischaemic stroke due to basilar artery occlusion显示文摘Background and purpose It remains controversial if endovascular treatment(EVT)can improve the outcome of patients with acute basilar artery occlusion(BAO).This study aims to compare the functional outcomes between EVT with and without intravenous thrombolysis(IVT)first in patients who had acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)due to BAO.Methods Patients who had AIS with BAO who underwent EVT within 24 hours of onset were enrolled in this multicentre cohort study,and the efficacy and safety were compared between IVT+EVT and direct EVT.The primary outcome was 90-day functional independence.All outcomes were assessed with adjusted OR(aOR)from the multivariable logistic regression.In addition,a meta-analysis was performed on all recently published pivotal studies on functional independence after EVT in patients with BAO.Results Of 310 enrolled patients with BAO,241(78%)were treated with direct EVT and 69(22%)with IVT+EVT.Direct EVT was associated with a worse functional outcome(aOR,0.46(95%CI 0.24 to 0.85),p=0.01).IVT+EVT was associated with a lower percentage of patients who needed≥3 passes of stent retriever(10.14%vs 20.75%).The meta-analysis regression revealed a potential positive correlation between bridging with IVT first and functional independence(r=0.14(95%CI 0.05 to 0.24),p<0.01).Conclusions This study showed that compared with direct EVT,EVT with IVT first was associated with better functional outcomes in patients with BAO treated within 24 hours of onset.The meta-analysis demonstrated similar favourable efficacy of IVT first followed by EVT in patients with BAO.Ximing Nie David Wang Yuehua Pu Yufei Wei Qixuan Lu Hongyi Yan Xin Liu Lina Zheng Jingyi Liu Xinxuan Yang Yarong Ding Dacheng Liu Wanying Duan Zhe Zhang Zhonghua Yang Miao Wen Weibin Gu Xinyi Hou Xinyi Leng Yuesong Pan Zhongrong Miao Liping Liu 2022Stroke & Vascular Neurology2022,7,3:10
3A potential red-emitting phosphors scheelite-like triple molybdates LiKGd_2(MoO_4)_4:Eu^(3+) for white light emitting diode applications显示文摘A series of novel red-emitting phosphors scheelite-like triple molybdates LiKGd2-xEux(MoO4)4(0.1 ≤ x ≤ 1.9) were synthesized by solid state reaction method and their photoluminescence properties were investigated. The photoluminescence results show that all samples can be excited efficiently by UV (396 nm) light and blue (466 nm) light and emit red (615 nm) light with line spectra,which are coupled well with the characteristic emission from UV-LED and blue LED,respectively. The experimental results and their analysis suggest that the energy transfer occurs due to dipole-dipole interactions among Eu3+ ions in LiKGd2-xEux(MoO4)4. Compared with Ca0.8MoO4: Eu 30+.2,the emission intensity of LiKGd0.9(MoO4)4: Eu 13.+1 is about 1.4 times higher and the CIE chromaticity coordinates are as close to the National Television System Committee (NTSC) standard values as those of Ca0.8MoO4: Eu 30+.2. 4Synthesis and photoluminescence property of red phosphors LiEu_(1-x)Y_x(WO_4)_(0.5)(MoO_4)_(1.5) for white LED显示文摘A series of novel red phosphors LiEu1-xYx(WO4)0.5(MoO4)1.5 (x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.8) were synthesized by conventional solid state reaction method with the starting materials: WO3, MoO3, Eu2O3, Li2CO3 and Y2O3. The spectrum and the crystal structure of the phosphors were characterized by F-4500 and XRD respectively. Meanwhile the effects of flux and Y3+ concentration on the crystal structure and luminescent properties of the phosphors were investigated. The results showed that the optimal content of flux (WAlF3/WH3BO3=1/1) was 1 wt% and the optimal doping concentration of Y3+ was 0.5 mol. The emission spectrum showed the most intense peak was located at 615 nm, which corresponds to the 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu3+ and that Eu3+ occupied the lattice site of noncentrosymmetric environment in the scheelite phases. The excitation spectrum displayed that these phosphors could be effectively excited by ultraviolet (UV) (396 nm) and blue (466 nm) light, nicely in correspondence with the widely ap- plied output wavelengths of ultraviolet or blue LED chips. The influence of flux on the luminescent properties of LiEu0.5Y0.5(WO4)0.5(MoO4)1.5 phosphor was analyzed. The XRD spectra indicated that the flux could help to crystallize the phosphor, and no other phases were formed except the tetragonal. 7Decentralized backstepping adaptive output tracking of large-scale stochastic nonlinear systems显示文摘The problem of decentralized adaptive output tracking control of a class of interconnected stochastic nonlinear systems is considered. In the control design, decentralized state observers and backstepping techniques are applied. To eliminate the influences of interactions with other subsystems, a differentiable function is employed. It is shown that the designed local adaptive controllers can ensure that all the signals in the closedloop system are bounded in probability. 8Tranexamic acid for acute intracerebral haemorrhage growth based on imaging assessment (TRAIGE): a multicentre, randomised, placebo- controlled trial显示文摘Background Studies show tranexamic acid can reduce the risk of death and early neurological deterioration after intracranial haemorrhage.We aimed to assess whether tranexamic acid reduces haematoma expansion and improves outcome in intracerebral haemorrhage patients susceptible to haemorrhage expansion.Methods We did a prospective,double-blind,randomised,placebo-controlled trial at 10 stroke centres in China.Acute supratentorial intracerebral haemorrhage patients were eligible if they had indication of haemorrhage expansion on admission imaging(eg,spot sign,black hole sign or blend sign),and were treatable within 8 hours of symptom onset.Patients were randomly assigned(1:1)to receive either tranexamic acid or a matching placebo.The primary outcome was intracerebral haematoma growth(>33% relative or>6 mL absolute)at 24 hours.Clinical outcomes were assessed at 90 days.Results Of the 171 included patients,124(72.5%)were male,and the mean age was 55.9±11.6 years.89 patients received tranexamic acid and 82 received placebo.The primary outcome did not differ significantly between the groups:36(40.4%)patients in the tranexamic acid group and 34(41.5%)patients in the placebo group had intracranial haemorrhage growth(OR 0.96,95% CI 0.52 to 1.77,p=0.89).The proportion of death was lower in the tranexamic acid treatment group than placebo group(8.1%vs 10.0%),but there were no significant differences in secondary outcomes including absolute intracranial haemorrhage growth,death and dependency.Conclusions Among patients susceptible to haemorrhage expansion treated within 8 hours of stroke onset,tranexamic acid did not significantly prevent intracerebral haemorrhage growth.Larger studies are needed to assess safety and efficacy of tranexamic acid in intracerebral haemorrhage patients.Jingyi Liu Ximing Nie Hongqiu Gu Qi Zhou Haixin Sun Ying Tan Dacheng Liu Lina Zheng Jiahui Zhao Yan Wang Yibin Cao Haomeng Zhu Yunpeng Zhang Lijin Yi Yuehua Pu Miao Wen Zhonghua Yang Shengjun Sun Wenzhi Wang Xingquan Zhao Liping Liu Yongjun Wang 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,2:3

11Haemostatic therapy in spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage patients with high-risk of haematoma expansion by CT marker: a systematic review and meta- analysis of randomised trials显示文摘Background and purpose Current randomised controlled trials(RCTs)showed an uncertain benefit of haemostatic therapy on preventing haematoma expansion and improving the outcome in patients with intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH).This meta-analysis aims to systematically evaluate the effect of haemostatic agents on the prevention of haemorrhage growth in patients with high-risk spontaneous ICH predicted by CT signs in RCTs.Methods A comprehensive search of PubMed,EMBASE and Cochrane library from 1 January 2005 to 30 June 2021 was conducted.RCTs that compared haemostatic agents with placebo for the treatment of spontaneous patients with ICH with high-risk haemorrhage growth were included.The primary endpoint was haematoma expansion at 24 hours.Other major endpoints of interest included 90-day functional outcome and mortality.Results The meta-analysis included four RCTs that randomised 2666 patients with ICH with high-risk haemorrhage growth.Haemostatic therapy reduced the rate of haematoma expansion at a marginally statistically significant level when compared with placebo(OR 0.84;95% CI 0.70 to 1.00;p=0.051).Subgroup analysis for patients with black hole sign on CT revealed a significant reduction of haematoma expansion with haemostatic therapy(OR 0.61;95% CI 0.39 to 0.94;p=0.03).However,both the primary analysis and subgroup analyses showed that haemostatic therapy could not reduce the rate of poor functional outcome(modified Rankin Scale>3)or death.Conclusions Haemostatic therapy showed a marginally significant benefit in reducing early haematoma expansion in patients with high-risk spontaneous ICH predicted by markers on CT scan.However,no significant improvement in functional outcome or reduction of mortality was observed.Ximing Nie Jingyi Liu Dacheng Liu Qi Zhou Wanying Duan Yuehua Pu Zhonghua Yang Miao Wen Haixin Sun Wenzhi Wang Shengjun Sun Hongqiu Gu Liping Liu 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,2:2
12Neuroprotection of phenolic alkaloids from Menispermum dauricum versus melatonin against oxygen-glucose-serum-deprivation-mediated injury显示文摘BACKGROUND: Recent studies have demonstrated that phenolic alkaloids from Menispermum dauricum (PAMD) can protect the heart and brain from ischemia/reperfusion injury, and promote neuron survival by inhibiting neuronal Bax and upregulating Bcl-2 expression following ische- mia/reperfusion. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the neuroprotective effects of PAMD versus exogenous melatonin against ischemia/reperfusion injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Observation and comparison experiments at a cellular level were performed at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology between February 2007 and February 2008. MATERIALS: PAMD (95% purity) was provided by Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences; melatonin was provided by Sigma, USA. METHODS: N2a mouse neuroblastoma cells were cultured in vitro deprived of glucose, serum and oxygen for 90 minutes, then cultured in normal medium containing different concentrations of PAMD (0.1, 1.0, 10 mg/L) or melatonin (1, 10, and 100 μmol/L). Cells cultured in normal conditions served as a control. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The culture solution was collected to determine the content of ex- citatory neurotransmitters such as glutamic acid and aspartic acid; cell viability was detected by MTT methods; reactive oxygen species production was determined by fluorescence spectroscopy; mito- chondrial transmembrane potential (?Ψm) was detected by laser confocal scanning; cytochrome C was measured by western blotting; and caspase-3 activity was determined by visible spectropho- tometry. RESULTS: Melatonin and PAMD both promoted oxygen-glucose-serum deprivation-mediated N2a cell survival (P < 0.01) and inhibited glutamic acid release (P < 0.01), but melatonin did not inhibit aspartic acid production. The protective effects were the strongest using melatonin 100 μmol/L and PAMD 10 mg/L, so subsequent experiments were the performed at those doses. Although PAMD could no longer maintain mitochondrial transmembrane potential 6 hours after reperfusion, its in- hibitory effects on cytochrome C release from mitochondria and scavengers of reactive oxygen species were stronger than those of melatonin (P < 0.01). However, its inhibitory effect on caspase-3 activity was weaker than that of melatonin: PAMD could inhibit caspase-3 activity 12 hours after reperfusion (P < 0.01), but melatonin inhibited caspase-3 activity 28 hours after reperfusion (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The results show that melatonin and PAMD have neuroprotective effects, but that the mechanisms are varied. 15Photosynthesis responses of endemic shrubs of Taklimakan Desert to adverse temperature, humidity and radiation显示文摘Under the native habitat conditions, the seasonal gas exchange characteristics of two natural endemic plant species, Calligonum taklimakanensis B.R. Pan & G.M. Shen and Tamarix taklamakanensis M.T. Liu, which are located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert, are measured and compared by Li-6400 photosynthesis system. The results indicate that temperature (℃), solar radiation (PAR), soil water content (SWC), and other environmental factors have obvious seasonal variations and the gas exchange characteristics of two plants have different changes in different growing seasons. For C. taklimakanensis, both in July and September, its daily changes of net photosynthetic rate tend to be obvious double peak curve, but in July its peak appeared earlier. Besides its maximum net photosynthetic rate (Pmax), apparent quantum efficiency (Φ ), range of effective photosynthetic radiation significantly less than that in September. Moreover, its water use efficiency (WUE) in July was also lower than that in September due to the higher transpiration rate (Tr ). For T. taklamakanensis, although its daily change of net photosynthetic rate is a single peak curve in September, its peak time has not changed, and except that its WUE is higher in September like C. taklimakanensis, the maximum net photosynthetic rate (Pmax), apparent quantum effi- ciency (Φ ), light saturation point, and range of effective photosynthetic radiation has not changed or slightly declined. That is to say C. taklimakanensis select a season that habitat was better (like September) to progress relative effectively photosynthesis accumulation, in contrast, T. taklamakanensis still keep a relatively stable photosynthesis rate in different growth seasons. The difference of gas exchange characteristics of the two plants in different seasons shows that adaptation strategies of the two plants to extreme conditions in desert are different. 16Diagnostic and modelling investigation on the ion acceleration and plasma throttling effects in a dualemitter hollow cathode micro-thruster显示文摘Hollow cathode discharges are widely used as neutralizers for the electric propulsion systems and recently developed into micro-thrusters for the small satellites.In this work,a dualemitter hollow cathode thruster is developed,which can be operated in two different modes—the neutralizer mode and the micro-thruster mode.For characterizing this kind of new device,the Langmuir probe,Faraday probe,and retarding potential analyzer are used to determine the electron temperature,electron density,ion flux,and ion energy distribution function.The operating parameters,including the thrust,and specific impulse,are also measured.A two-dimensional self-consistent extended fluid model is employed to calculate the spatial distribution of plasma parameters and the fluid field of electrons in the region around the emitters.By comparing the diagnostic and modelling results,it is found that the change in the electric field and ionization zone is the essential reason for the different performances of the device in the neutralizer and micro-thruster modes.Variation in the electric field leads to an ion acceleration effect in the micro-thruster mode;moving of the ionization zone raises the plasma pressure in the orifice region of the hollow cathode,and thus leads to enhanced plasma throttling and gas expanding effects.By analyzing the above mechanisms,the possible methods for improving this kind of hollow cathode micro-thruster are discussed.Zhongxi NING Chenguang LIU Ximing ZHU Yanfei WANG Bingjian AN Daren YU 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,12:1

20DGP1,a drought-induced guard cell-specific promoter and its function analysis in tobacco plants显示文摘The genetic regulation of stomatal movement mainly depends on an efficient control system of gene expression, and guard cell-specific promoter is becoming the best choice. Here we combined the dehydration responsive element (DRE) with guard cell specific element (GCSE) to construct a novel promoter, DGP1. Histochemical assays in transgenic tobacco carrying β -glucuronidase (gus) gene fused to DGP1 demonstrated that GUS activity was found to be highly inducible by drought treatment and specifically restricted to guard cells. No GUS activity was detected in roots, stems or flowers after treatment. Further quantitative analysis showed that GUS activity in the epidermal strips was apparently induced by dehydration and dramatically increased with the elongation of treatment. The GUS activity after 8 h treatment was 179 times that of those without treatment. Although GUS activity in roots, stems or mesophyll increased after treatment, no great changes were observed. These results suggested that DGP1 could drive target gene expressed in guard cells when plant is subjected to drought stress.
