2Spatial patterns of ephemeral plants in Gurbantünggüt Desert显示文摘In the present research,the authors measured parameters of richness,cover and importance value of ephemeral and ephemeroid plants on south-north and east-west transects in the Gurbantünggüt Desert in early spring,and investigated and analyzed the microhabitats,such as terrain,geomorphology,soil physical-chemical properties and crusts. By comparison,the regional differences in the ephemeral distribution in the desert were revealed. The species of ephemeral plants in the south and center are the richest and those in the west are the poorest in the desert. The cover of ephemeral plants in the mid-south is higher than that in the north,and that in the mid-east is higher than that in the west. The response of ephemeral plants to the spatial variation of the desert habitat forms the population-habitat gradient of ephemeral plants. The characteristics are:(1) In the habitat with higher terrain,coarser textured soil with poorer sorting and correspondingly higher organic matter and lower alkali-saline contents,Carex physoides and Eremopyrum orientale are the dominant ephemeral plants;(2) In the dry habitat with lower terrain,looser textured soil,some organic matter,alkali-saline soil,and developed crust,the ephemeral plants Alyssum linifolium and Erodium oxyrrhynchum are of characteristic of drought and alkali-saline tolerance;(3) In the habitat with lower terrain,some water and more alkali-saline soil,the ephemeral plants Neotorularia torulosa and Hypecoum parviflorum being of alkali-saline tolerance are mainly developed. However,most ephemerals are distributed in a habitat order of higher terrain,some organic,and less alkali-saline soil on the above-mentioned ephemeral population-habitat gradient. 3Genotypic variations in the accumulation of Cd exhibited by different vegetables显示文摘It is an important approach to use the Cd-contaminated soils properly by growing low accumulator or excluder plants for Cd to produce safe foods. To find the suitable vegetable species for growing in Cd-contaminated soils, in the present study the variations in the Cd accumulation for twenty eight vegetable species and several cultivars of five common vegetables (cowpea, kidney pea, bitter gourd, cucumber and squash) were investigated in two soil Cd levels (1 and 2 mg/kg Cd). Experimental results showed that highly significant differences in Cd concentration were evident among 28 vegetables. For example, spinach Cd concentrations were 110-fold and 175-fold higher than that of sweet pea under the 1 and 2 mg/kg Cd exposures, respectively. For Cd accumulation, the order of vegetable species was: leafy vegetables > solanaceous vegetables > kale vegetables > root vegetables > allimus > melon vegetables > legumes. Distinctive differences were also identified when comparing different cultivars of the five common vegetables with an average range of 0.003–0.094 mg/kg Cd. Our results indicated that a large genotypic variation existed among vegetable species or cultivars when subjected to Cd exposure. 4Accurate Evaluation of Free-form Surface Profile Error Based on Quasi Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Surface Subdivision显示文摘Although significant progress has been made in precision machining of free-form surfaces recently, inspection of such surfaces remains a difficult problem. In order to solve the problem that no specific standards for the verification of free-form surface profile are available, the profile parameters of free-form surface are proposed by referring to ISO standards regarding form tolerances and considering its complexity and non-rotational symmetry. Non-uniform rational basis spline(NURBS) for describing free-form surface is formulated. Crucial issues in surface inspection and profile error verification are localization between the design coordinate system(DCS) and measurement coordinate system(MCS) for searching the closest points on the design model corresponding to measured points. A quasi particle swarm optimization(QPSO) is proposed to search the transformation parameters to implement localization between DCS and MCS. Surface subdivide method which does the searching in a recursively reduced range of the parameters u and v of the NURBS design model is developed to find the closest points. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods, the design model is generated by NURBS and the measurement data of simulation example are generated by transforming the design model to arbitrary position and orientation, and the parts are machined based on the design model and are measured on CMM. The profile errors of simulation example and actual parts are calculated by the proposed method. The results verify that the evaluation precision of freeform surface profile error by the proposed method is higher 10%-22% than that by CMM software. 6The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Panicoideae Evolution and Papery Hull Domestication显示文摘Coix is a grass crop domesticated as early as the Neolithic era.It is still widely cultivated for both highly nutritional food and medicinal use.However,the genetic study and breeding of this crop are hindered by the lack of a sequenced genome.Here,we report de novo sequencing and assembly of the 1619-Mb genome of Coix,and annotation of 75.39%repeats and 39629 protein-coding genes.Comparative genomics analysis showed that Coix is more closely related to sorghum than maize,but intriguingly only Coix and maize had a recent genome duplication event,which was not detected in sorghum.We further constructed a genetic map and mapped several important traits,especially the strength of hull.Selection of papery hull(thin:easy dehulling)from the stony hull(thick:difficult dehulling)in wild progenitors was a key step in Coix domestication.The papery hull makes seed easier to process and germinate.Anatomic and global transcriptome analysis revealed that the papery hull is a result of inhibition of cell division and wall biogenesis.We also successfully demonstrated that seed hull pressure resistance is controlled by two major quantitative trait loci(QTLs),which are associated with hull thickness and color,respectively.The two QTLs were further fine mapped within intervals of 250 kb and 146 kb,respectively.These resources provide a platform for evolutionary studies and will facilitate molecular breeding of this important crop.Chao Guo Yanan Wang Aiguo Yang Jun He Chaowen Xiao Shanhua Lv Fengming Han Yibing Yuan Yuan Yuan Xiaolong Dong Juan Guo YawenYang-Hailan Liu Ningzhi Zuo Yaxi Hu Kangxu Zhao Zhengbo Jiang Xing Wang Tingting Jiang Yaou Sherf Moju Cao Yuan Wang Zhaobo Long Tingzhao Rong Luqi Huang Shufeng Zhou 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,2:11
7Vegetation-environment Relationships Between Northern Slope of Karlik Mountain and Naomaohu Basin,East Tianshan Mountains显示文摘Based on data from 22 sample plots and applying the Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA),this paper discusses the vegetation-environment relationships between the northern slope of Karlik Mountain and Naomaohu Basin,which is situated in the easternmost end of the Tianshan Mountains,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,China.For the zonal vegetation,community diversity of mountain vegetation is higher than that of the desert vegetation due to environmental factors.The CCA ordination diagram revealed that the composition and distribution of vegetation types are mainly determined by altitude,soil pH and soil salt content.With increasing elevation,the soil pH and total salt content decrease but the contents of soil organic matter,soil water,total nitrogen and total phosphorus increase gradually.In the CCA ordination diagrams,the sample plots and main species can be divided into five types according to their adaptations to the environmental factors.Type I is composed of desert vegetation distributed on the low mountains,hills,plains and deserts below an elevation of 1900 m;type II is distributed in the mountain and desert ecotone with an elevation of 1900-2300 m,and includes steppe desert,desert steppe and wetland meadow;type III is very simply composed of only salinized meadow;type IV is distributed above an elevation of 2300 m,containing mountain steppe,meadow steppe,subalpine meadow and alpine meadow;type V only contains salinized meadow.The results show that with increasing elevation,species combination changes from the xerophytic shrubs,semi-shrubs and herbs distributed in the low altitude zone with arid climate to the cold-tolerant perennial herbs growing in the high altitudinal zone with cold climate.ZHANG Haiyan QIAN Yibing WU Zhaoning WANG Zhongchen 2012Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,3:9

9Prediction of median survival time in sepsis patients by the SOFA score combined with different predictors显示文摘Background:Sepsis is the leading cause of intensive care unit(ICU)admission.The purpose of this study was to explore the prognostic value of the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA)score,the Acute Physiological and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE Ⅱ)score,and procalcitonin(PCT),albumin(ALB),and lactate(LAC)levels in patients with sepsis.Methods:Consecutive adult patients with suspected or documented sepsis at ICU admission were recruited.Their basic vital signs and related auxiliary examinations to determine their PCT and ALB levels and APACHE Ⅱ score were recorded at ICU admission,and their LAC levels and SOFA scores were recorded for one week after admission.The influence of these variables on hospital mortality was evaluated.Logistic regression was used to derive the Sepsis Hospital Mortality Score(SHMS),a prediction equation describing the relationship between predictors and hospital mortality.The median survival time was calculated by the Kaplan–Meier method.In the validation group,the kappa value was calculated to evaluate the stability of the derived formula.Results:This study included 894 sepsis patients admitted to 18 ICUs in 16 tertiary hospitals.Patients were randomly assigned to an experimental group(626 cases)and validation group(258 cases).In addition,a nonsurvival group(248 patients)of the experimental group was established according to the outcome at the time of discharge.The hospital mortality rate in the experimental group was 39.6%(248/626).Univariate and multivariate regression analyses revealed that the APACHE Ⅱ score(odds ratio[OR]=1.178),△SOFA(OR=1.186),△LAC(OR=1.157),and SOFA mean score(OR=1.086)were independently associated with hospital mortality.The SHMS was calculated as logit(p)=4.715–(0.164×APACHE Ⅱ)–(0.171×△SOFA)–(0.145×△LAC)–(0.082×SOFA mean).A receiver operating characteristic curve was constructed to further investigate the accuracy of the SHMS,with an area under the curve of 0.851(95%confidence interval[CI]0.821–0.882;p<0.001)for hospital mortality.In the low-risk group and high-risk groups,the corresponding median survival times were 15 days and 11 days,respectively.Conclusion:The APACHE Ⅱ score,△SOFA,△LAC and SOFA mean score were independently associated with hospital mortality in sepsis patients and accurately predicted the hospital mortality rate and median survival time.Data on the median survival time in sepsis patients could be provided to clinicians to assist in the rational use of limited medical resources by facilitating prudent resource allocation.Trial registration:ChiCTR-ECH-13003934,retrospectively registered on August 03,2013.Wen Li Meiping Wang Bo Zhu Yibing Zhu Xiuming Xi 2020Burns & Trauma2020,8,1:7
10A Hierarchical P2P Model and a Data Fusion Method for Network Security Situation Awareness System显示文摘A hierarchical peer-to-peer(P2P) model and a data fusion method for network security situation awareness system are proposed to improve the efficiency of distributed security behavior monitoring network. The single point failure of data analysis nodes is avoided by this P2P model, in which a greedy data forwarding method based on node priority and link delay is devised to promote the efficiency of data analysis nodes. And the data fusion method based on repulsive theory-Dumpster/Shafer(PSORT-DS) is used to deal with the challenge of multi-source alarm information. This data fusion method debases the false alarm rate. 14Quantitative and morphological differences of nerve fibers between proliferative and mature scars in two-and three-dimensional spaces显示文摘BACKGROUND: Numerous studies use fluorescent microscopy to obtain two-dimensional optical images of the morphology of nerve fibers in hypertrophic scars.In addition,current confocal microscopy studies have focused on normal,not pathological,cutaneous nerves.However,laser scanning confocal microscopy results in a three-dimensional structure of the nerve fibers.OBJECTIVE: To observe quantitative and morphological differences in nerve fibers from the proliferative and mature stage in hypertrophic scars using fluorescent and confocal microscopy.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: Neuropathological,comparison study was conducted at the Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University,China from June 2006 to July 2007.PARTICIPANTS: Specimens were selected from 30 patients undergoing scar restoration at the Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University of China at 1 month to 23 years following wound healing.The study comprised 20 males and 10 females.The scars were fibrous lesions,erythematous,tough,confined to skin lesions,did not exhibit ulceration or infection,exhibited telangiectasia,with or without itching and pain,and were not locally treated.Samples were equally assigned to two groups according to course of disease: proliferative group (< 6 months) and mature group (6–24 months).Control samples were collected from full-thickness skin from donor sites (n = 10).METHODS: Nerve fiber morphology was observed using fluorescent and confocal microscopy following immunofluorescence of the skin specimens.The microscopic images were semi-quantitatively analyzed to acquire a positive area ratio of neurofilament protein-positive nerve fibers.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Morphology and positive area ratio of neurofilament protein/positive nerve fibers was measured.RESULTS: The positive area ratio of neurofilament protein-positive nerve fibers was significantly greater in the proliferative group compared to the normal control group (P < 0.05).Nerve fibers were irregularly distributed and exhibited local swelling,twisting,and disconnection.However,the positive area ratio of neurofilament protein-positive nerve fibers was significantly less in the mature group compared with the normal control group (P < 0.05).The nerve fibers were arranged in an orderly manner,with intact inner and stereoscopic structures similar to normal skin.CONCLUSION: Compared with mature scars,hypertrophic scars exhibited a greater number of nerve fibers,with more serious pathologies.Yibing Wang Xia Li Rui Zhang Yongqiang Feng Yu Liu 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,2:5
15Superhydrophobic Flexible Supercapacitors Formed by Integrating Hydrogel with Functional Carbon Nanomaterials显示文摘With the rapid development of the wearable electronics,the flexible supercapacitor with high energy density has attracted more and more attentions.From the viewpoint of outdoor and underwater application,this research tried to impart the superhydrophobicity to the flexible supercapacitors.The polyvinyl alcohol/HN0_(3) hydrogel was utilized as the electrolyte,which could achieve self-healing capability without the freezing/thawing process.Both microscale graphene and nanoscale carbon nanotubes were utilized as the electrode materials.After surface modification,the hydrophobic suspension composed of graphene and carbon nanotubes was sprayed onto the two sides of hydrogel electrolyte to construct superhydrophobic electrode.Hence,the superhydrophobicity endows the supercapacitor with outstanding self-cleaning performance.The all-in-one structure endows the supercapacitor with improved capacitive ability,outstanding flexibility,good anti-abrasion property,and reliable self-healing capability.The combination of superhydro-phobicity and flexible energy storage might have a broad application for the outdoor and underwater wearable electronics applications.Peng Wang Ximin Zhang Wei Duan Wei Teng Yibing Liu Qing Xie 2021Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,5:4
16Remodeling of skin nerve fibers during burn wound healing显示文摘Burn wound healing involves a complex sequence of processes.Recent studies have revealed that skin reinnervation may have an impact on physiological wound repair.Few studies have addressed the process of reinnervation and morphological changes in regenerated nerve fibers.The regeneration of neurites during full-thickness burn wound healing was determined by immunofluorescent staining using an anti-neurofilament protein monoclonal antibody,and three-dimensional morphology was observed under a laser scanning confocal microscope.Morphology and the volume fraction of collagen and nerve fibers were measured.Skin reinnervation increased during wound healing,peaked during the proliferative scar stage,and then decreased to lower levels during the maturation period.The results from the skin nerve fibers correlated with those from collagen using semi-quantitative analysis.Disintegration and fragmentation were observed frequently in samples from the proliferative stage,and seldom occurred during the maturation stage.There was a remodeling process of regenerated nerve fibers during wound healing,which comprised changed innervation density and topical morphology.The mechanism of remodeling for nerve fibers requires further investigation.Yongqiang Feng Xia Li Rui Zhang Yu Liu Tingting Leng Yibing Wang 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,19:4
17How the Internet Promotes China’s Exports:A Firm-level Perspective显示文摘The development of information and communications technologyv(ICT),particularly the Internet,has reduced trade costs.However,it remains unclear whether these reduced costs are reflected in the “extensive margins”of firms'exports(which refer to the probability of firms exporting)or the “intensive margins”(which refer to the value of firms'export).To test this,we used the concepts of information cost and binary margins,an augmented trade model of firm heterogeneity,a two-stage Heckman estimation,and data from the World Bank Enterprise Survey of Chinese firms in 2012.The results revealed that reduced trade costs from the use of ICT were positively related to extensive margins but that the connection with intensive margins was not significant.The results lead to the conclusion that reduced information costs related to a firm's exporting behavior were primarily reflcted in variable trade cosis.This study offers theoretical and empirical evidence for China 3 policies towards the Internet,which are relevant for the export of manufactured goods.The government should encourage the use of ICT to enhance firms export opporunities while facing current trade policy uncerainty.Yifei Mu Zhen Chen Yibing Ding Yuqing Wang Bo Pang 2020China & World Economy2020,28,5:4
18Identification of key genes affecting porcine fat deposition based on coexpression network analysis of weighted genes显示文摘Background:Fat deposition is an important economic consideration in pig production.The amount of fat deposition in pigs seriously affects production efficiency,quality,and reproductive performance,while also affecting consumers’choice of pork.Weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA)is effective in pig genetic studies.Therefore,this study aimed to identify modules that co-express genes associated with fat deposition in pigs(Songliao black and Landrace breeds)with extreme levels of backfat(high and low)and to identify the core genes in each of these modules.Results:We used RNA sequences generated in different pig tissues to construct a gene expression matrix consisting of 12,862 genes from 36 samples.Eleven co-expression modules were identified using WGCNA and the number of genes in these modules ranged from 39 to 3,363.Four co-expression modules were significantly correlated with backfat thickness.A total of 16 genes(RAD9A,IGF2R,SCAP,TCAP,SMYD1,PFKM,DGAT1,GPS2,IGF1,MAPK8,FABP,FABP5,LEPR,UCP3,APOF,and FASN)were associated with fat deposition.Conclusions:RAD9A,TCAP,SMYD1,PFKM,GPS2,and APOF were the key genes in the four modules based on the degree of gene connectivity.Combining these results with those from differential gene analysis,SMYD1 and PFKM were proposed as strong candidate genes for body size traits.This study explored the key genes that regulate porcine fat deposition and lays the foundation for further research into the molecular regulatory mechanisms underlying porcine fat deposition.Kai Xing Huatao Liu Fengxia Zhang Yibing Liu Yong Shi Xiangdong Ding Chuduan Wang 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,1:3
19Comparison on effect of hydrophobicity on the antibacterial and antifungal activities of α-helical antimicrobial peptides显示文摘HPRP-A1, a 15-mer α-helical cationic peptide, was derived from N-terminus of ribosomal protein L1 (RpL1) of Helicobacter pylori. In this study, HPRP-A1 was used as a framework to obtain a series of peptide analogs with different hydrophobicity by single amino acid substitutions in the center of nonpolar face of the amphipathic helix in order to systematically study the effect of hydrophobicity on biological activities of -helical antimicrobial peptides. Hydrophobicity and net charge of peptides played key roles in the biological activities of these peptide analogs; HPRP-A1 and peptide analogs with relative higher hydrophobicity exerted broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria and pathogenic fungi, but also showed stronger hemolytic activity; the change of hydrophobicity and net charge of peptides had similar effects with close trend and extent on antibacterial activities and antifungal activities. This indicated that there were certain correlations between the antibacterial mode of action and the antifungal mode of action of these peptides in this study.
