| 1 | Prediction of permafrost changes in Northeastern China under a changing climate显示文摘Northeastern China has the second largest expanse of permafrost in China,primarily known as Xing'an-Baikal permafrost.Located on the southeastern edges of the Eurasian cryolithozone,the permafrost is thermally unstable and ecologically sensitive to external changes.The combined impacts of climatic,environmental,and anthropogenic changes cause 3-dimensional degradation of the permafrost.To predict these changes on the southern limit and ground temperature of permafrost in Northeastern China,an equivalent latitude model (ELM) for the mean annual ground surface temperature (MAGSTs) was proposed,and further improved to take into account of the influences of vegetation and snow-cover based on observational data and using the SHAW model.Using the finite element method and assuming a climate warming rate of 0.048°C a-1,the ELM was combined with the unsteady-state heat conduction model to simulate permafrost temperatures at present,and to predict those after 50 and 100 a.The results indicate that at present,sporadic permafrost occurs in the zones with MAGSTs of 1.5°C or colder,and there would still be a significant presence of permafrost in the zones with the present MAGSTs of 0.5°C or colder after 50 a,and in those of-0.5°C or colder after 100 a.Furthermore,the total areal extent of permafrost would decrease from 2.57×105 km2 at present to 1.84×105 km2 after 50 a and to 1.29×105 km2 after 100 a,i.e.,a reduction of 28.4% and 49.8% in the permafrost area,respectively.Also the permafrost would degrade more substantially in the east than in the west.Regional warming and thinning of permafrost would also occur.The area of stable permafrost (mean annual ground temperature,or MAGT≤-1.0°C) would decrease from present 1.07×105 to 8.8×104 km2 after 50 a,and further decrease to 5.6×104 km2 after 100 a.As a result,the unstable permafrost and seasonally frozen ground would expand,and the southern limit of permafrost would shift significantly northwards.The changes in the permafrost environment may adversely affect on ecological environments and engineering infrastructures in cold regions.Avoidance of unnecessary anthropogenic changes in permafrost conditions is a practical approach to protect the permafrost environment. | WEI Zhi JIN HuiJun ZHANG JianMing YU ShaoPeng HAN XuJun JI YanJun HE RuiXia CHANG XiaoLi | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,6: | 15 |

| 3 | Comparative profiling of the transcriptional response to soybean cyst nematode infection of soybean roots by deep sequencing显示文摘To gain insight into the changes in the transcriptome of soybean roots during soybean cyst nematode (SCN) infection, we conducted genome-wide gene expression profiling using serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) combined with Solexa sequencing. More than 3 million tags were generated from the SCN-infected and uninfected roots, and 366941 and 314591 clean UniTags were obtained from SCN-infected and uninfected samples, respectively. In the SCN-infected sample, 48249 UniTags represented 18114 reference genes. In the uninfected control, 46290 UniTags represented 19323 reference genes. Comparison of tag frequencies identified 1405 genes that were expressed at greater levels in SCN-infected roots than in uninfected roots, and 1191 genes that were expressed at lower levels. Quantitative real-time PCR analyses confirmed the changes in mRNA levels observed in our sequencing analyses. A comparable number of genes were upand down-regulated in response to nematode infection, indicating that down-regulation of some genes might be essential in the plant response to nematodes. Our SAGE results showed significant changes in expression of many unreported genes involved in nematode infection. | 4 | Genome research profile of two Cordyceps sinensis cDNA libraries显示文摘Cordyceps sinensis (CS) is well known as an ancient Chinese herb. It is used to expand bronchial smooth muscles, inhibit tumor growth and decrease blood pressure. Cordyceps sinensis is composed of two parts. One is the dead larvae body; the other is the stroma like withered grass. Up to now, few genome database articles about Cordyceps sinensis have been reported. In this study, two cDNA libraries were constructed using the worm part and grass part respectively for the first time. 12192 and 15456 clones from the worm-part (CSCA) and grass-part (CSBA) library were respectively picked. Sequences derived from CSCA were clustered into 1333 contigs and 2469 singlets, while those from CSBA were clustered into 1297 contigs and 2875 singlets. These ESTs include sequences representing a significant portion of proteins encoding genes in cell signalling, metabolism, information storage and processing. Some enzymes encoding genes were also found and linked with CS’s physiology such as proteases, peptidases, lipases and chitinase. Pairwise comparison between the two cDNA libraries was also studied. Some ESTs were found only in CSCA and some only in CSBA. Finally, a comparative genomics research was performed with Fusarium graminearum, Aspergillus nidulans, Neurospora crassa and Saccharomyces bayanus. | 5 | Hydrolysis mechanism of carbendazim hydrolase from the strain Microbacterium sp.djl-6F显示文摘The carbendazim(MBC) hydrolyzing enzyme gene was cloned and heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) from a newly isolated MBC-degrading bacterium strain Microbacterium sp. strain djl-6F. High performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS)analysis revealed that purified MheI-6F protein catalyzes direct hydrolysis of MBC into2-aminobenzimidazole(2-AB) with a high turnover rate and moderate affinity(Kmof6.69 μmol/L and kcatof 160.88/min) without the need for any cofactors. The optimal catalytic condition of MheI-6F was identified as 45°C, pH 7.0. The enzymatic activity of MheI-6F was found to be diminished by metal ions, and strongly inhibited by sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS).Through generating amino acid mutations in MheI-6F, Cys16 and Cys222 were identified as the catalytic groups that are essential for the hydrolysis of MBC. | 7 | Broad negative thermal expansion operation-temperature window in antiperovskite manganese nitride with small crystallites显示文摘Using spark plasma sintering (SPS), Mn3Cu0.6Ge0.4N crystallites have been fabricated with different crystallite sizes, and their magnetic properties and thermal behaviors were systemically investigated. With decreasing crystallite size, the magnetic transition becomes increasingly slow, accompanied by broadening of the negative thermal expansion (NTE) operation-temperature window. The NTE operation-temperature window for the 12-nm crystallite sample reaches at 140 K, which is about 75% larger than that of the 74-nm crystallite sample. The magnetic properties and NTE operation-temperature window can be tuned by varying the crystallite size. | 14 | Effects of Ulva prolifera dissipation on the offshore environment based on remote sensing images and field monitoring data显示文摘Outbreaks of Ulva prolifera have continued in the South Yellow Sea of China(SYS)since 2007,becoming a serious marine ecological disaster.Large amounts of U.prolifera drift to the coast of the Shandong Peninsula to dissipate under the action of southeast monsoons and ocean surface currents.This causes serious harm to the ecological environment and economic activities of coastal cities.To investigate the impact of U.prolifera dissipation,this study extracted the spatiotemporal distribution of U.prolifera in the SYS from 2012 to 2020 based on the Google Earth Engine.The outbreak cycle of U.prolifera was determined by fitting analysis of outbreak time and coverage area through MATLAB.This study also looked at the effect of U.prolifera dissipation on water quality through field monitoring data.The results showed that the growth curve of the U.prolifera has a significant Gaussian distribution.The U.prolifera dissipates in Haiyang,China,in July and August every year and affects the offshore environment.Water quality parameters of seawater at different depths had significant differences after the U.prolifera dissipation.Changes in pH,chemical oxygen demand,nitrite nitrogen,nitrate nitrogen,ammonia nitrogen,chlorophyll a,total phosphorus,and suspended solids were more significant in surface seawater than in deeper water.Changes in the concentrations of dissolved oxygen and total nitrogen were more significant in the deep seawater(1.63 and 1.1 times higher than those in the surface seawater,respectively).The dissipation of U.prolifera releases a large amount of carbon and nitrogen into the seawater,which provides rich nutrients for phytoplankton and may cause secondary disasters such as red tide.These findings are useful for further understanding the rules of U.prolifera dissipation,as well as preventing and controlling green tide disasters. | Longxiao Zheng Mengquan Wu Jie Zhao Shaopeng Luan Dongliang Wang Wei Jiang Mingyue Xue Jiayan Liu Yating Cui | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,6: | 0 |

| 16 | Effect on surgery outcomes owing to the interval between onset of symptoms and surgery of patients with acute type A aortic dissection显示文摘Background:This study aimed to identify whether the interval from onset of symptoms to surgery affects the outcomes of surgery in patients with acute type A aortic dissection(AAAD).Methods:This study retrospectively examined 249 patients with AAAD who underwent Sun’s procedure.All patients were divided into 2 groups,hyperacute and acute,according to the interval from onset of symptoms to surgery.The primary endpoint was all-cause early mortality,and the secondary endpoint was early reoperation.Results:The surgery time,cardiopulmonary bypass time,clamp time,and selective cerebral perfusion time were not significantly different between the 2 groups.The intensive care unit length of stay and duration of mechanical ventilation of the 2 groups were 185.50hours versus 185.00hours(P=0.970)and 41.50hours versus 44.00hours(P=0.678),respectively.There were 52 early deaths:29 in the hyperacute group and 23 in the acute group(21.6%vs.20.0%,P=0.751).The incidence of reoperation was 0.7% and 0.9%(P>0.999),respectively.The incidence rates of postoperative acute heart failure(AHF),acute respiratory failure(ARF),nervous dysfunction,and acutekidney injury were37.3% versus 25.2%(P=0.041),51.5%versus51.3%(P=0.976),13.4% versus 7.0%(P=0.096),and 37.3% versus 37.4%(P=0.990),respectively.Multivariable analysis indicated that surgery in the hyperacute phase might be an independent risk factor for AHF(OR:1.765;95%CI:1.021–3.052;P=0.042).Conclusion:Surgery in the hyperacute phase of AAAD was associated with postoperative AHF.Therefore,early medical management or interventional therapy for complications before surgery performed by experienced surgeons is recommended,especially in the hyperacute phase. | Shouming Li Duoliang Wei Zhenhua Wang Han Song Shaopeng Cheng Xin Zhao | 2022 | Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2022,2,2: | 0 |

| 19 | Bending and wave propagation analysis of axially functionally graded beams based on a reformulated strain gradient elasticity theory显示文摘A new size-dependent axially functionally graded(AFG) micro-beam model is established with the application of a reformulated strain gradient elasticity theory(RSGET). The new micro-beam model incorporates the strain gradient, velocity gradient,and couple stress effects, and accounts for the material variation along the axial direction of the two-component functionally graded beam. The governing equations and complete boundary conditions of the AFG beam are derived based on Hamilton's principle. The correctness of the current model is verified by comparing the static behavior results of the current model and the finite element model(FEM) at the micro-scale. The influence of material inhomogeneity and size effect on the static and dynamic responses of the AFG beam is studied. The numerical results show that the static and vibration responses predicted by the newly developed model are different from those based on the classical model at the micro-scale.
