| 1 | Superhydrophobic coatings for corrosion protection of magnesium alloys显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)alloys show great potential to be extensively applied in practice owing to their superior properties,while the poor corrosion resistance does undoubtedly restrict their applications.Superhydrophobic coatings with good repellency to corrosive solutions can significantly decrease the interaction between the corrosive species and the substrate,so that they are receiving a lot of attention to improve the corrosion resistance of Mg alloys.Various strategies have been introduced to develop a superhydrophobic coating on Mg alloys,which were reviewed to elucidate the current research status to provide a clue or thinking for beginning researchers.Further,the existing issues of superhydrophobic coating were discussed,especially for their real applications in practice,mainly owing to their poor mechanical stability.Based on the existing issues,the future study was discussed to improve the stability of hierarchical structures and entrapped air pockets,impart the superhydrophobic coating self-healing property to repair the damaged area during service,provide double protection by incorporation of corrosion inhibitors,or even introduce slippery liquid-infused porous surfaces with lubricant layer to provide better corrosion protection for Mg alloys. | Wenhui Yao Liang Wu Guangsheng Huang Bin Jiang Andrej Atrens Fusheng Pan | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,52,17: | 15 |

| 6 | Variation of temporal and spatial patterns of NO_2 in Beijing using OMI and mobile DOAS显示文摘Control policies such as 'odd-and-even license plate rule' were implemented by the Chinese government to restrict traffic and suspend factory production in Beijing and neighboring cities during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. We use ozone monitoring instrument(OMI), mobile differential optical absorption spectroscopy(DOAS), and multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS) to measure the variation of the spatial and temporal patterns of NO2 column densities from October 24, 2014 to November 22, 2014. It is found that the NO2 column densities during the episode of control policies are significantly lower than those during other periods, and the emission flux of NO2 calculated by mobile DOAS is also lower than the results from other periods. Some daily low NO2 column densities occur with the northwest wind direction. We then compare the relationship between OMI and mobile DOAS NO2 column density observations, and the results of mobile DOAS are approximately 2.7 times larger than the OMI values. The largest discrepancy occurs in the northern part of Beijing city. In other parts, the two instruments have a better correlation coefficient(R2) of 0.61. | 10 | Development of metal-organic framework(MOF) decorated graphene oxide/Mg Al-layered double hydroxide coating via microstructural optimization for anti-corrosion micro-arc oxidation coatings of magnesium alloy显示文摘An efcient and simple in-situ growth strategy has been discovered for the preparation of highly reproducible and continuous symbiotic ZIF-8-based anticorrosion coating by using graphene oxide(GO)/Mg AlNO3layered double hydroxides(G/LDHs) buffer layer as a new type of connecting carrier based on micro-arc oxide(MAO) coating of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The components of ZIF-8 were adsorbed and bounded to the surface of the G/LDHs buffer layer-modified substrates to promote the nucleation of ZIF-8,thus growing a phase-pure, uniform, and good symbiosis ZIF-8 membrane. ZIF-8 particles with different growth times compensate for the grain boundary defects of the G/LDHs coating precursor buffer layer to different degrees. The prepared ZIF-8-based coating has excellent stability and corrosion resistance. | 12 | Enhanced Damping Capacities of Mg–Ce Alloy by the Special Microstructure with Parallel Second Phase显示文摘Microstructure evolution and damping capacities of Mg–Ce binary alloys with three different Ce contents(0.5, 1, or 2 wt%) have been systematically investigated in this work. Numerous fine parallel second phases in Mg–2Ce alloy are obtained, as well as a large number of dislocations around them, but few dislocations appear around the reticular second phase in the Mg–1Ce alloy. Among the three alloys, two internal friction peaks(P_1 and P_2) are detected at about 78 and 167?C in both the Mg–0.5Ce and Mg–1Ce alloys.In addition, the alloy with special parallel second phase structure exhibits excellent damping capacity in both strain amplitude and temperature-dependent regions. These results may be ascribed to the stress concentration and the formation of abundant parallel and uniform dislocation configurations in the ?-Mg matrix without the influence of crystal orientation. | 15 | Cavernous Weathering in Aeolian Sandstones: An Example from the Yongningshan Hill of the Loess Plateau, Northwest China显示文摘Cavernous weathering is commonly found on sandstone slopes in different environments. Either a single dominant process or polygenetic agents require to be invoked in order to interpret the development. The Yongningshan hill of the central Loess Plateau is representative of cliff dwellings in Northwest China, which is characterized by well-developed cavernous weathering features and provides a good opportunity for the better understanding of sandstone weathering in the Loess Plateau. Multiple methods, including field survey, in-situ rock strength measurement, along with experiments on samples for microscopic observation, element composition and salt chemistry, were employed to investigate the controlling factors of cavernous weathering. The results show that cavern development is different on the four slopes with the western slope hosting massive honeycombs, tafoni and hardened surfaces. The porous and permeable aeolian sandstones are fundamental, because they provide space and pathways for the transportation of water and salt, honeycombs dominantly aligning within the lamination of cross-beds. The environmental factors such as the seasonal wetting and drying cycle, aeolian salt, moisture and water vapor are key factors for the development of cavernous weathering forms. | 16 | Co-transplantation of Schwann cells and bone marrow stromal cells versus single cell transplantation on repairing hemisected spinal cord injury of rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) or Schwann cells (SCs) transplantation alone can treat spinal cord injury. However, the transplantation either cell-type alone has disadvantages. The co-transplantation of both cells may benefit structural reconstruction and functional recovery of spinal nerves. OBJECTIVE: To verify spinal cord repair and related mechanisms after co-transplantation of BMSCs and SCs in a rat model of hemisected spinal cord injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Department of Histology and Embryology, Mudanjiang Medical College from January 2008 to May 2009. MATERIALS: Rabbit anti-S-100, glial fibrillary acidic protein, neuron specific enolase and neurofilament-200 monoclonal antibodies were purchased from Sigma, USA. METHODS: A total of 100 Wistar rats were used in a model of hemisected spinal cord injury. The rats were randomly assigned to vehicle control, SCs transplantation, BMSCs transplantation, and co-transplantation groups; 25 rats per group. At 1 week after modeling, SCs or BMSCs cultured in vitro were labeled and injected separately into the hemisected spinal segment of SCs and BMSCs transplantation groups through three injection points [5 μL (1 × 107 cells/mL)] cell suspension in each point). In addition, a 15 μL 1 × 107 cells/mL SCs suspension and a 15 μL 1 × 107 cells/mL BMSC suspension were injected into co-transplantation group by the above method. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor rating scale and somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) tests were used to assess the functional recovery of rat hind limbs following operation. Structural repair of injured nerve tissue was observed by light microscopy, electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In vivo differentiation, survival and migration of BMSCs were evaluated by immunofluorescence. RESULTS: BBB scores were significantly greater in all three transplantation groups compared with vehicle control group 8 weeks after transplantation. In particular, the co-transplantation group displayed the highest scores among the groups (P < 0.05). Moreover, recovery of SEP latency and amplitude was observed in all the transplantation groups, particularly after 8 weeks. Again, the co-transplantation group exhibited the greatest improvement (P < 0.05). In the co-transplantation group, imaging showed a smooth surface and intact inner structure at the injury site, with no scar formation, and a large number of orderly cells at the injured site. Axonal regeneration, new myelination, and a large amount of cell division were detected in the co-transplantation group by electron microscopy. Neuron specific enolase (NSE)- and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)-positive cells were observed in the spinal cord sections 1 week following co-transplantation by immunofluorescence staining. CONCLUSION: Co-transplantation of SCs and BMSCs effectively promoted functional recovery of injured spinal cord in rats compared with SCs or BMSCs transplantation alone. | 17 | Replanting of broadleaved trees alters internal nutrient cycles of native and exotic pines in subtropical plantations of China显示文摘Background:The replanting of broadleaved trees in pure coniferous plantations is widely implemented,as mixed plantations are generally more stable and functional.However,the effect of interspecific interactions between broadleaved and coniferous trees on internal nutrient cycles of conifers remains unclear.Methods:We selected pure coniferous plantations of a native(Pinus massoniana)and an exotic(P.elliottii)pine species and their corresponding mixed plantations with broadleaved trees(Schima superba)in subtropical China,and measured the nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)contents in the rhizosphere soils,fine roots,twigs,needles and needle litter of pines.We calculated the root capture,needle resorption and translocation of N and P by pines to determine the mobility of nutrients in trees.Results:Although the N and P in the rhizosphere soils increased due to the replanting of broadleaved trees,the N and P contents in the aboveground tissues of the two pine species did not increase in mixed plantations.Mixed planting had a negative effect on the N and P capture of native pine and a positive effect on that of exotic pine.The N and P resorption efficiencies increased in native pine but were unchanged in exotic pine after the replanting of S.superba.Native pine preferentially employed an aboveground nutrient resorption strategy,whereas exotic pine tended to adopt a belowground nutrient capture strategy after replanting.Translocation of N and P in trees was detected,which reflected the trade-offs between root nutrient capture and needle nutrient resorption.Conclusions:The effect of mixed planting varied between the species of native and exotic pines,and the internal nutrient cycles of both pine species might be dominated by interspecific interaction effects on nutrients rather than soil nutrients.Our study highlights the importance of selecting suitable broadleaved species for replanting in coniferous plantations. | Yong Lin Chengkang Xia Gaoyang Wu Fangchao Wang Shengnan Wang Yuanqiu Liu Fusheng Chen | 2022 | Forest Ecosystems2022,9,5: | 2 |
