Design and synthesis by redox polymerization of a bio-based carboxylic elastomer for green tire显示文摘Poly(dibutyl itaconate-co-isoprene-co-methacrylic acid)(PDIM) elastomer was designed and synthesized by redox emulsion polymerization under mild conditions. PDIM has high molecular weight, relatively high yield, and low glass transition temperature(Tg). The structure of PDIM was determined by FTIR and NMR, and the carboxyl content was obtained by titration in a non-proton solvent. Tensile strength and elongation at break increased with increasing carboxyl content. In addition, the interaction between PDIM and silica was elucidated by rubber process analyzer(RPA) and TEM, and the results showed that the silica-PDIM interaction was strong, but the silica-silica interaction was weak. | Xinxin Zhou Runguo Wang Weiwei Lei He Qiao Haoling Ji Liqun Zhang Kuo-Chih Hua Joseph Kulig | 2015 | Science China Chemistry2015,58,10: | 4
Synthesis and evaluation of bio-based elastomer based on diethyl itaconate for oil-resistance applications显示文摘Bio-based elastomer poly(diethyl itaconate-co-isoprene)(PDEII) was designed and synthesized by redox-initiated emulsion polymerization from diethyl itaconate and isoprene with mass ratio of 20:80, 40:60, 60:40 and 80:20. The number-average molecular weights of PDEII exceeded 140000 with relatively high yields. The physical properties of PDEII, such as glass transition temperatures and thermostability, were comparable with conventional synthetic elastomers and can be readily tuned by varying the ratio of diethyl itaconate to isoprene. The interaction between silica and PDEII macromolecules was effectively enhanced with the increase of diethyl itaconate content by endowing high polarity. The oil-resistance relevant properties of silica/PDEII80(80% diethyl itaconate, 20% isoprene) such as retention of tensile strength, retention of elongation at break and change in volume even surpass those of silica/NBR 240 S after soaked in ASTM 3# oil at different temperatures. | Weiwei Lei He Qiao Xinxin Zhou Wencai Wang Liqun Zhang Runguo Wang Kuo-Chih Hua | 2016 | Science China Chemistry2016,59,11: | 3
Novel evidence from Taxus fuana forests for niche-neutral process assembling community显示文摘Background:Understanding the mechanisms underlying community assembly is helpful for conservation and restoration of communities, particularly those that contain rare and endangered species like Taxus fuana, which are endemic to the Western Himalayas. The niche (limiting similarity) vs. neutral (randomness) assembly of the T.fuana forest community in Gyirong County, Tibet, China, was investigated. The net relatedness index (NRI) was calculated using a phylogenetic tree. The phylogenetic characteristics of the community and its relationships with environment were analyzed. Results:The value of the mean NRI at the community level was less than-1.96, indicating that the phylogenetic structure was overdispersed;whereas majority of the NRIs at the tree, shrub, and herb layers were within-1.96 to1.96, indicating random dispersion. Environmental factors accounted for 44.38%, 46.52%, 24.04%, and 14.07%of the variation at the community level, tree, shrub, and herb layer, respectively. The phylogenetic structure at the community level and tree layer were significantly influenced by both topographic and soil factors, while shrub and herb layers tended to be affected by a single environmental factor. Conclusions:Community assembly of the T. fuana forest was simultaneously affected by niche and neutral processes, and their variations were closely related to the environment. Neutral process dominated community assembly in the shrub and herb layers. However, the interaction of limiting similarity and randomness played a dominant role at the community level and tree layer;and contributed to maintenance of biodiversity stability. The synergy of multiple environmental factors had a more obvious influence on community assembly than individual environmental factors, especially at the community level. These findings would help to understand the conservation of rare and endangered tree species, such as T. fuana, in the native community;and highlight the importance of random and non-random processes in assembly and biodiversity maintenance of alpine plant communities. | Tianxiang Li Li Xu Feng Wang Weijun Zhang Junpeng Duan Xiaolu Shen-Tu Yaobin Song Runguo Zang Ming Dong | 2022 | Forest Ecosystems2022,9,3: | 1

Current trends in bio-based elastomer materials显示文摘Elastomers play an irreplaceable role in our society due to their unique properties.Natural rubber is directly obtained from plants and is widely used in tires, shoes, etc.Recently, modified natural rubbers are proposed to expand the application of natural rubber. However, these natural rubbers have a limited variety of molecular structures and may not be able to meet ever-demanding applications.Traditional synthetic elastomers have a variety of molecular structures and their properties are used in various fields, but mainly originate from fossil resources. This review deals with bio-based elastomers, and more specifically natural rubber and bio-based synthetic elastomers.Based on reprocessability,bio-based elastomers can also be divided into bio-based chemically cross-linked ones and thermoplastic ones.Compared to traditional fossil-based elastomers,bio-based ones may alleviate environmental pollution and promote the sustainable development of the elastomer industry. | Shuai Tang Jiao Li Runguo Wang Jichuan Zhang Yonglai Lu Guo-Hua Hu Zhao Wang Liqun Zhang | 2022 | SusMat2022,2,1: | 0
Effects of flow velocity on water quality and ammonia excretion in recirculating aquaculture system culturing juvenile largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides)显示文摘Flow velocity plays an important role in recirculating aquaculture systems(RAS)and the growing practice of culturing juvenile largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides). In this study, the effects of flow velocity on the water quality as well as the ammonia excretion were discussed from the perspective of actual production, and a polynomial model of ammonia nitrogen excretion was established, using the juvenile largemouth bass. Results showed that the range of ammonia nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen decreased with flow velocity increasing, while the number and volume share of large particles increased.According to the polynomial model, compared with the medium flow velocity(11 cm/s,2.45 body length(bl)/s),the ammonia excretion of juvenile largemouth bass at high(18 cm/s,4.00 bl/s),and low(4 cm/s,0.90 bl/s)flow velocity changed faster with time, and the excretion rate peaked at the 6th hour after feeding, earlier than that under medium flow velocity. Therefore,it is suggested to increase the flow velocity at the 5th hour after feeding and then decreased it at the 10th hour,to ensure better water quality in RAS culturing juvenile largemouth bass. | Runguo Xiao Ganxiang Wang Zhenlei Chen Zhangying Ye Songming Zhu Xueyan Ding Fan Zhou Jianlin Guo Jian Zhao | 2022 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,5: | 0
A decomposition analysis of recent health expenditure growth in China: is population ageing a significant effecting factor?显示文摘Since the new round of health system reform, the annual average growth rate of health expenditure in real term in China was 10.5%,which is much faster than that of any other Asian countries. The aim of this study is to analyze major effect-ing factors include population ageing’s contribution to health expenditure growth,as population ageing is accelerating and considered as a major driver of health expenditure growth in China.A component based health expenditure model was developed in this study and five major factors were employed, namely popula-tion size, population structure, disease prevalence rate, excess health price infla-tion(EHPI)and expenditure per prevalent case. Then Das Gupta’s decomposition method was applied to decompose the health expenditure growth into the five factors. Results shows that expenditure per prevalent case was the major factor, which accounted for 59.6%of the health expenditure growth.21.2%of the health expenditure growth was driven by population ageing, followed by EHPI(11.2%),population growth(5.4%)and disease prevalence rate(2.6%).Population age-ing affected circulatory diseases the most, which caused 5.2%of the difference in health expenditure, followed by neoplasms(2.9%),respiratory diseases(2.0%),digestive diseases(1.8%),and endocrine(1.5%).Our work highlights that meas-ures should be taken to reduce risk factors of major non-communicable disease to promote healthy ageing, and it is fundamental to address growth in expenditure per case, especially for circulatory, respiratory, digestive, genitourinary diseases, and endocrine, nutritional and metabolic to contain the rapid health expenditure growth in China. | Tiemin Zhai Quan Wan Peipei Chai Feng Guo Yan Li Rongrong Wang Chunmei Chen Tao Li Runguo Gao | 2020 | China Population and Development Studies2020,4,4: | 0
Design and preparation of a crosslinkable,oil-resistant,and bio-based elastomer from fumarate显示文摘Poly(diethyl fumarate-co-methoxyethyl acrylate-co-vinyl chloroacetate)(PDEFMV),a novel bio-based elastomer with a saturated structure, was synthesized via redox emulsion polymerization. The glass-transition temperatures of PDEFMV,adjusted through the variation of the diethyl fumarate-to-methoxyethyl acrylate feeding ratio, ranged from-36.1 to-14.8 ℃.The number-average molecular weights of PDEFMV ranged from 384,000 to 46,000 g/mol.In designing the molecular structure, vinyl chloroacetate was used to provide active sites for subsequent vulcanization and crosslinking. The active chlorine groups within the PDEFMV chain reacted with the crosslinking agent trithiocyanuric acid under high temperature and pressure to form a nonsulfur crosslinked three-dimensional network structure. To achieve the desired properties, carbon black(CB,N330) was incorporated to reinforce PDEFMV,leading to the formation of PDEFMV/CB composites.A comprehensive study was conducted on the high-temperature oil resistance of PDEFMV/CB composites.Following immersion in IRM903 oil at temperatures of 150 and 200 ℃ for 72 h,the mass and volume changes in PDEFMV/CB were lower than those observed in commercially available acrylate rubber(AR)/CB,indicating that PDEFMV exhibited superior oil resistance.Furthermore, the aging characteristics and mechanisms of oil resistance in the PDEFMV/CB and AR/CB composites were investigated at different temperatures(150,200,and 250 ℃).The results provide insights into the operational temperature ranges suitable for PDEFMV/CB and offer valuable guidance for potential industrial applications. | Hui Yang Haijun Ji Xinxin Zhou Shihan Yang Liwei Li Chaoying Sun Weiwei Lei Runguo Wang Liqun Zhang | 2024 | Science China Chemistry2024,67,2: | 0
