| 1 | Effects of salidroside on glioma formation and growth inhibition together with improvement of tumor microenvironment显示文摘Objective:To test the effects of salidroside on formation and growth of glioma together with tumor microenvironment.Methods:Salidroside extracted from Rhodiola rosea was purified and treated on human glioma cells U251 at the concentration of 20μg/mL.3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-dephenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay for cytotoxicity and flow cytometry(FCM)for cell cycle analysis were performed.Then for in vivo study,xenotransplantation tumor model in nude mice was generated and treated with salidroside at the concentration of 50 mg/kg.d for totally 20 d.Body weight and tumor size were detected every 2 d after the treatment.The levels of 8-isoprostane,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA),special markers for oxidative stress,were detected while immunofluoresence staining was performed for astrocyte detection.Results:For in vitro study,salidroside could decrease the viability of human glioma cells U251 and the growth of U251 cells at G0/G1checkpoint during the cell cycle.For in vivo study,salidroside could also inhibit the growth of human glioma tissue in nude mice.The body weight of these nude mice treated with salidroside did not decrease as quickly as control group.In the tumor xenotransplantation nude mice model,mice were found of inhibition of oxidative stress by detection of biomarkers.Furthermore,overgrowth of astrocytes due to the stimulation of oxidative stress in the cortex of brain was inhibited after the treatment of salidroside.Conclusions:Salidroside could inhibit the formation and growth of glioma both in vivo and in vitro and improve the tumor microenvironment via inhibition of oxidative stress and astrocytes. | Yanshan Zhang Yunyi Yao Huijuan Wang Yanqin Guo Hui Zhang Liang Chen | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,5: | 14 |

Biomass-derived novel carbons(BDNCs) have attracted much attention because of its adjustable physical/chemical properties, environmentally friendliness, and considerable economic value. Nature contributes to the biomass with bizarre microstructures with micropores, mesopores or hierarchical pores.Currently, it has been confirmed that biomass has great potential applications in energy storage devices,especially in lithium-sulfur(Li–S) batteries. In this article, the synthesis and function of BDNCs for Li–S batteries are presented, and the electrochemical effects of structural diversity, porosity and surface heteroatom doping of the carbons in Li-S batteries are discussed. | 7 | Nitrogen partitioning and microbial protein synthesis in lactating dairy cows with different phenotypic residual feed intake显示文摘Background: Residual feed intake(RFI) is an inheritable measure of feed efficiency that is independent on level of production. However, physiological and metabolic mechanisms underlying divergent RFI are not fully elucidated.This study was conducted to investigate dietary nitrogen(N) partitioning and microbial protein synthesis in lactating dairy cows divergent in phenotypic RFI.Results: Thirty Holstein dairy cows(milk yield = 35.3 ± 4.71 kg/d;milk protein yield = 1.18 ± 0.13 kg/d;mean ± standard deviation) were selected for the experiment to derive RFI. After the RFI measurement period of 50 d, the 10 lowest RFI cows and 8 highest RFI cows were selected. The low RFI cows had lower dry matter intake(DMI, P < 0.05) than the high RFI cows, but they produced similar energy-corrected milk. The ratios of milk to DMI(1.41 vs. 1.24, P < 0.01) and energy-corrected milk to DMI(1.48 vs. 1.36, P < 0.01) were greater in low RFI cows than those in the high RFI cows. The low RFI cows had lower milk urea nitrogen than that in the high RFI cows(P = 0.05). Apparent digestibility of nutrients did not differ between two groups(P > 0.10). | 19 | METASTABLE STATE TRANSFOR MATIONS OF Al_3Ti BASE ALLOYS DURING MECHANICAL MILLING AND SUBSEQUENT ANNEALING显示文摘Developing multi phase alloy is an effective approach for the strengthening and toughening of the L1 2 Al 3Ti alloy. A Nb modified Al 3Ti base alloy which has a L1 2 matrix and the precipitated second phase has been developed. Since the effect of second phase is strongly influenced by its size and distribution, high energy ball milling was employed to fabricate the alloy in comparison with the conventional casting process. It was found that structure evolution during mechanical milling is different for DO 22 , L1 2 and L1 2+DO 22 two phase alloys. The DO 22 Al 3Ti transformed only to a FCC structure even after long time milling. The ordering of L1 2 Al 67 Ti 25 Mn 8 decreased quickly and changed into a FCC structure after short time milling, subsequent milling led to the amorphous transition. The DO 22 phase in Al 3Ti Mn Nb alloys dissolved into the L1 2 matrix quickly in the early stage of milling and the matrix changed into a FCC supersaturated solid solution after 10 h milling, further milling led to the amorphous transition. Reordering of the metastable structures occurred during the annealing process.
