1Geochronology of recent lake sediments from Longgan Lake,middle reach of the Yangtze River,influenced by disturbance of human activities显示文摘The impacts of human activities in Longgan Lake region on the distribution of 210Pb in lake sediment made it difficult to establish geochronological sequence. However, environmental proxies recorded these human activities and could be used as time marker to check 210Pb dating results. Based on the analysis of 210Pbexc distribution in cores LS-1 and LGL-1, and in combination with the human activities records in grain-size and element concentration, the sedimentation rates in the upper layers of these two cores were determined to be 0.19 and 0.23 cm/a respectively. The MAR (mass accumulation rates) of these two cores demonstrated that natural condition, such as precipitation and runoffs, led to the variation of MAR before human disturbance, and human activities controlled the sedimentary processes afterwards, which obviously reduced the particles influx into the lakes. During 1940s when human activity had not changed the water system within the catchment, 210Pb activity was abnormally strong in lakes along middle to lower reaches of the Yangtze River, which might be attributed to less precipitation and can be used as a time marker for geochronological research.WU YanHong LIU EnFeng BING HaiJian YANG XiangDong XUE Bin XIA WeiLan 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,8:4

4Detection of hTERT mRNA,CEA,CA19-9 in Pleural Effusion and Its Clinical Significance显示文摘OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical significance of the human telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERT)mRNA,CEA and CA19-9 in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant pleural effusions. METHODS Concentrations of CEA and CA19-9 in pleural effusions were assayed using automated chemiluminescence,and expression of hTERT mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. RESULTS The positive rates of hTERT mRNA,CEA and CA19-9 expression in the group with malignant effusions were significantly higher compared to the group with benign effusion (P<0.05).The sensitivity(%),specificity(%)and diagnostic accordance rates(%)of the 3 tumor markers were as follows:i) hTERT mRNA:81.8/90.5/86.1;ii)CEA:52.3/92.9/72.1;iii)CA19-9: 34.1/90.5/61.6.The positive rates of hTERT mRNA+CEA(%) expression in the pleural effusions were 97.7. CONCLUSION All of these tumor markers can be helpful for differential diagnosis of pleural effusions.hTERT mRNA had more clinical value in differentiation of the pleural efffusions. 5Differential bone metabolism and protein expression in mice fed a high-fat diet versus Daurian ground squirrels following natural pre-hibernation fattening显示文摘This study compared the effects on bone metabolism and morphology of pathological obesity induced by excessive fat intake in a non-hibernator(mice)versus healthy obesity due to pre-hibernation fattening in a hibernator(ground squirrels).Kunming mice were fed a high-fat diet to provide a model of pathological obesity(OB group).Daurian ground squirrels fattened naturally in their pre-hibernation season(PRE group)were used as a healthy obesity model.Micro-computed tomography(micro-CT)and three-point bending tests were used to determine the microstructure and mechanical properties of bone.Western blots were used to analyze protein expression levels related to bone metabolism(Runt-related transcription factor 2(RunX2),osteocalcin(OCN),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),osteoprotegerin(OPG),receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand(RANKL),cathepsin K,matrix metallopeptidase 9(MMP9),patched protein homolog 1(Ptch1),phosphorylatedβ-catenin(P-β-catenin),and glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK-3β)).Compared with controls,there was no obvious bone loss in the OB mice,and the stiffness of the femur was increased significantly.Compared with summer active squirrels,bone formation was enhanced but the mechanical properties did not change in the PRE group squirrels.In OB mice,western blots showed significantly increased expression levels of all proteins except RunX2,OPG,and Ptch1.PRE ground squirrels showed significantly increased expression of most proteins except OCN and Ptch1,which decreased significantly,and P-β-catenin and OPG,which did not change.In conclusion,for non-hibernating mice,moderate obesity had a certain protective effect on bones,demonstrating two-way regulation,increasing both bone loss and bone formation.For pre-hibernating ground squirrels,the healthy obesity acquired before hibernation had a positive effect on the microstructure of bones,and also enhanced the expression levels of proteins related to bone formation,bone resorption,and Wnt signaling.Xuli GAO Shenyang SHEN Qiaohua NIU Weilan MIAO Yuting HAN Ziwei HAO Ning AN Yingyu YANG Yu ZHANG Han ZHANG Kenneth BSTOREY Hui CHANG 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,12:0
6Wide grain 4,encoding an alpha-tubulin,regulates grain size by affecting cell expansion in rice显示文摘Rice is one of the three most important food crops in the world.Increasing rice yield is an effective way to ensure food security.Grain size is a key factor affecting rice yield;however,the genetic and molecular mechanisms regulating grain size have not been fully investigated.In this study,we identified a rice mutant,wide grain 4-D(wg4-D),that exhibited a significant increase in grain width and a decrease in grain length.Histological analysis demonstrated that WG4 affects cell expansion thereby regulating grain size.MutMap-based gene mapping and complementary transgenic experiments revealed that WG4 encodes an alpha-tubulin,OsTubA1.A SNP mutation in WG4 affected the arrangement of cortical microtubules and caused a wide-grain phenotype.WG4 is located in nuclei and cytoplasm and expressed in various tissues.Our results provide insights into the function of tubulin in rice and identifies novel targets the regulation of grain size in crop breeding.Yi Liu Lianan Guo Guoli Qu Yang Xiang Xu Zhao Hua Yuan Ting Li Liangzhu Kang Shiwen Tang Bin Tu Bingtian Ma Yuping Wang Shigui Li Weilan Chen Peng Qin 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,6:0
7Residue Analysis of 55% MCPA·ametryn·diuron WP显示文摘The digestion regularity of MCPA,ametryn and diuron which were the active ingredients of 55% MCPA·ametryn·diuron WP in sugarcane leaves and soil of sugarcane plantation collected from Changsha of Hunan Province and Haikou of Hainan Province in 2009 and 2010were studied in the paper,and the results showed that these three agents had rapid digestion.
