| 1 | A novel method to improve the performance of heat exchanger——Temperature fields coordination of fluids显示文摘The methods to enhance the heat transfer in heat exchanger may be classified into two levels: one is to improve the heat transfer coefficient; the other is to upgrade the whole arrangement of the heat exchangers. For the second level, the performance of heat exchanger can be upgraded by increasing the coordination degree between the temperature fields of cold and hot fluids. When the temperature distributions are similar to each other, the temperature difference field (TDF) is more uniform, which means that the temperature fields are more coordinated with each other. For the cross-flow heat exchanger, rearrangement of the heat exchange surface area should improve the heat transfer effectiveness, which is even equal to that of the counter-flow heat exchanger when the surface area is reassigned optimally. For the multi-stream heat exchanger, the thermal performance is also dependent on the uniformity of the TDF, and the parallel-flow arrangement may achieve higher heat exchange effectiveness than the counter-flow arrangement, which indicates that the performance of heat exchanger depends on the coordination degree of temperature fields instead of the flow arrangement. | GUOZengyuan WEIShu CHENGXinguang | 2004 | Chinese Science Bulletin2004,49,1: | 13 |
| 2 | Thermoelectric interface materials:A perspective to the challenge of thermoelectric power generation module显示文摘The past years has observed a significantly boost of the thermoelectric materials in the scale of thermoelectric figure-of-merit,i.e.ZT,because of its promising application to harvest the widely distributed waste heat.However,the simplified thermoelectric materials'performance scale also shifted the focus of thermoelectric energy conversion technique from devices-related efforts to materials-level works.As a result,the thermoelectric devices-related works didn't get enough attention.The device-level challenges behind were kept unknown until recent years.However,besides the thermoelectric materials properties,the practical energy conversion efficiency and service life of thermoelectric device is highly determined by assembling process and the contact interface.In this perspective,we are trying to shine some light on the device-level challenge,and give a special focus on the thermoelectric interface materials(TEiM)between the thermoelectric elements and electrode,which is also known as the metallization layer or solder barrier layer.We will go through the technique concerns that determine the scope of the TEiM,including bonding strength,interfacial resistance and stability.Some general working principles are summarized before the discussion of some typical examples of searching proper TEiM for a given thermoelectric conversion material. | Weishu Liu Shengqiang Bai | 2019 | Journal of Materiomics2019,5,3: | 7 |
| 3 | Sulfur evolution in chemical looping combustion of coal with MnFe_2O_4 oxygen carrier显示文摘Chemical looping combustion(CLC) of coal has gained increasing attention as a novel combustion technology for its advantages in CO2 capture. Sulfur evolution from coal causes great harm from either the CLC operational or environmental perspective. In this research, a combined MnFe2O4 oxygen carrier(OC) was synthesized and its reaction with a typical Chinese high sulfur coal, Liuzhi(LZ) bituminous coal, was performed in a thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA)-Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectrometer. Evolution of sulfur species during reaction of LZ coal with MnFe2O4 OC was systematically investigated through experimental means combined with thermodynamic simulation. TGA-FTIR analysis of the LZ reaction with MnFe2O4 indicated MnFe2O4 exhibited the desired superior reactivity compared to the single reference oxides Mn3O4 or Fe2O3, and SO2 produced was mainly related to oxidization of H2S by MnFe2O4. Experimental analysis of the LZ coal reaction with MnFe2O4, including X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis, verified that the main reduced counterparts of MnFe2O4 were Fe3O4 and MnO, in good agreement with the related thermodynamic simulation. The obtained MnO was beneficial to stabilize the reduced MnFe2O4 and avoid serious sintering, although the oxygen in MnO was not fully utilized. Meanwhile, most sulfur present in LZ coal was converted to solid MnS during LZ reaction with MnFe2O4, which was further oxidized to MnSO4. | 4 | The Electronic Transport Channel Protection and Tuning in Real Space to Boost the Thermoelectric Performance of Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(2-y)Bi_(y) near Room Temperature显示文摘The optimization of thermoelectric materials involves the decoupling of the transport of electrons and phonons.In this work,an increased Mg_(1)-Mg_(2) distance,together with the carrier conduction network protection,has been shown as an effective strategy to increase the weighted mobility(U=μm∗3/2)and hence thermoelectric power factor of Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(2-y)Bi_(y) family near room temperature.Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(0.5)Bi_(1.5) has a high carrier mobility of 247 cm^(2)V^(-1) s^(-1) and a record power factor of 3470μWm^(-1) K^(-2) at room temperature.Considering both efficiency and power density,Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(1.0)Bi_(1.0) with a high average ZT of 1.13 and an average power factor of 3184μWm^(-1) K^(-2) in the temperature range of 50-250℃ would be a strong candidate to replace the conventional n-type thermoelectric material Bi_(2)Te_(2.7)Se_(0.3).The protection of the transport channel through Mg sublattice means alloying on Sb sublattice has little effect on electron while it significantly reduces phonon thermal conductivity,providing us an approach to decouple electron and phonon transport for better thermoelectric materials. | Zhijia Han Zhigang Gui Y.BZhu Peng Qin Bo-Ping Zhang Wenqing Zhang Li Huang Weishu Liu | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 5 |
| 5 | Remote Sensing and Forest Carbon Monitoring——a Review of Recent Progress,Challenges and Opportunities显示文摘Remote sensing provides key inputs to a wide range of models and methods developed for quantifying forest carbon.In particular,carbon inventory methods recommended by IPCC require biomass data and a suite of forest disturbance products.Significant progress has been made in deriving these products by leveraging publicly available remote sensing assets,including observations acquired by the legendary Landsat mission and new systems launched within the past decade,including Sentinel-2,Sentinel-1,GEDI,and ICESAT-2.With the L-band NISAR and P-band BIOMASS missions to be launched in 2023,the Earth’s land surfaces will be imaged by optical and multi-band(including C-,L-,and P-bands)radar systems that can provide global,sub-weekly observations at sub-hectare spatial resolutions for public use.Fine scale products derived from these observations will be crucial for developing monitoring,reporting,and verification(MRV)capabilities needed to support carbon trade,REDD+,and other market-driven tools aimed at achieving climate mitigation goals through forest management at all levels.Following a brief discussion of the roles of forests in the global carbon cycle and the wide range of models and methods available for evaluating forest carbon dynamics,this paper provides an overview of recent progress and forthcoming opportunities in using remote sensing to map forest structure and biomass,detect forest disturbances,determine disturbance attribution,quantify disturbance intensity,and estimate harvested timber volume.Advances in these research areas require large quantities of well—distributed reference data to calibrate remote sensing algorithms and to validate the derived products.In addition,two of the forest carbon pools-dead organic matter and soil carbon—are difficult to monitor using modern remote sensing capabilities.Carefully designed inventory programs are needed to collect the required reference data as well as the data needed to estimate dead organic matter and soil carbon. | Chengquan HUANG Weishu GONG Yong PANG | 2022 | Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2022,5,2: | 5 |
| 6 | Effectiveness of flesh-moistening paste in psoriasis vulgaris patients with symptom pattern of blood stasis:a randomized and parallel-controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of flesh-moistening paste for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis pattern in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS:Eudipleural rashes on both the left and right side of the same patients with psoriasis vulgaris,diagnosed via TCM as blood stasis pattern,were selected as the targeted skin lesions.A randomized,double-blind,parallel-controlled,multicenter controlled trial was conducted.The targeted skin lesions were categorized into either the treatment or control group.The treatment group used the flesh-moistening paste;the control group used a placebo.Both the paste and the placebo were topically applied twice daily for eight weeks.The patients were examined biweekly to evaluate the effects.The two groups were compared in terms of the psoriasis area and severity index(PASI)of the targeted skin lesions,which is scored according to erythema,desquamation,infiltration,area,pruritus,and improvement of skin barrier function.Adverse events were recorded during the study period.SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data.RESULTS:Fifty-six patients were enrolled between February 2016 and October 2017.Two were complicated by cardio-cerebrovascular disease and were excluded;thus,54 outpatients were finally enrolled in the study.Four dropped out during the study period:three failed to complete their follow-up visits for unknown reasons,and one exited due to an adverse event.The final trial comprised 50 of the 56 originally selected patients,with a 92.6%completion rate.After 8 weeks of treatment,the targeted skin lesion scores differed significantly(P<0.05).The PASI scores of the targeted skin lesions differed significantly beginning at week 6(P<0.05).The treatment group presented better results than those of the control group.Only one patient had an adverse reaction associated with the treatment.Improvements in skin barrier function differed significantly(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The flesh-moistening paste demonstrated a reliable curative effect and safety for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis patterns.The topical paste improved the barrier function of the skin lesions. | Guo Xinwei Lang Na Li Guanru Li Ping Qu Jianhua Zhou Dongmei Wang Ping Cang Zhang Deng BingXu Lou Weihai Xu Jingna Lan Haibing Liu Yumin Zhang Weishu Sun Liyun | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6: | 4 |
| 7 | Numerical Simulation and Optimization of Staged Combustion and NO_x Release Characteristics in Precalciner显示文摘In order to study the combustion characteristics in a precalciner, the temperature and composition field in a typical Trinal-sprayed calciner were numerically analysed. The results obtained by simulation were compared to actual measurements and the simulated results were in good agreement with the measured ones. The results indicated that the aerodynamic flow field in the precalciner is satisfactory, and a symmetrical reflux occurs in the shrinkage zone of the precalciner because of air staging, which can increase the residence time of the solid particles. The temperature distribution in the furnace is uniform, and the average temperature is greater than 1200 K, which can satisfy the conditions for the pulverised coal combustion and raw material decomposition. The mass fraction distribution of oxygen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide in the precalciner is closely related to the temperature distribution. The concentration of nitrogen oxides(NO_x) exhibits a trend of increasing, decreasing and then increasing, and finally tending to a stable level. Within a certain velocity range, the average temperature in the precalciner and the decomposition efficiency of the raw material increase as the flue gas velocity increases. | 9 | Complete loss of RNA editing from the plastid genome and most highly expressed mitochondrial genes of Welwitschia mirabilis显示文摘Comparative genomics among gymnosperms suggested extensive loss of mitochondrial RNA editing sites from Welwitschia mirabilis based on predictive analysis. However, empirical or transcriptome data to confirm this massive loss event are lacking,and the potential mechanisms of RNA site loss are unclear. By comparing genomic sequences with transcriptomic and reversetranscription PCR sequencing data, we performed a comprehensive analysis of the pattern of RNA editing in the mitochondrial and plastid genomes(mitogenome and plastome, respectively) of W. mirabilis and a second gymnosperm, Ginkgo biloba. For W.mirabilis, we found only 99 editing sites located in 13 protein-coding genes in the mitogenome and a complete loss of RNA editing from the plastome. The few genes having high editing frequency in the Welwitschia mitogenome showed a strong negative correlation with gene expression level. Comparative analyses with G. biloba, containing 1,405 mitochondrial and 345 plastid editing sites, revealed that the editing loss from W. mirabilis is mainly due to the substitution of editable cytidines to thymidines at the genomic level, which could be caused by retroprocessing. Our result is the first study to uncover massive editing loss from both the mitogenome and plastome in a single genus. | 10 | Enhanced thermoelectric performances of flexible PEDOT:PSS film by synergistically tuning the ordering structure and oxidation state显示文摘Flexible polymer thermoelectric thin film attracts wide attentions because it is compatible with the wearable electronics and e-skin.Herein,we reported an enhanced thermoelectric power factor of PEDOT:PSS from around 1 μWm^(-1) K^(-2) to 117 μWm^(-1) K^(-2) and high substrate-free strain of 20% through synergistically tuning the ordering structure and the oxidation state.An ionic liquid(EMImTCM)was used to decouple the ionic interaction between PEDOT and PSS,rearranging the morphology of structure that significantly benefit the mechanical flexibility and the electrical conductivity.The addition of Lascorbic acid was confirmed as effective dedoping additive of PEDOT polymer that changed the oxidation state and hence boosted the thermoelectric power factor without notable sacrifice of the mechanical flexibility.Moreover,the electrical conductivity of the corresponding film maintained electrically stable(ΔR/R_(0)<0.12%)under 1000 bending cycles which indicates the great bendability.Our work demonstrated the feasibility to controllably tailor the thermoelectric and mechanical performance of the PEDOT:PSS flexible polymer thermoelectric thin film. | Qikai Li Qing Zhou Long Wen Weishu Liu | 2020 | Journal of Materiomics2020,6,1: | 2 |
