1Climatic significance of δ^(18)O records from precipitation on the western Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Analysis of daily precipitation samples for stable oxygen isotopes (δ18O) collected at the Shiquanhe and Gêrzê (Gaize, Gertse) stations in the Ngari (Ali) region on the western Tibetan Plateau indicates that air temperature affects the δ18O variations in precipitation at these stations. In summer, Shiquanhe and Gêrzê show strongly similar trends in precipitation δ18O, especially in simultaneous precipitation events. Moreover, both stations experienced low δ18O values in precipitation during the active monsoon period, resulting from the southwest monsoon (the summer phase of the Indian monsoon). However, during the break monsoon period (during the summer rainy season, when the monsoon circulation is disrupted), δ18O values in summer precipitation remain relatively high and local moisture recycling generally controls the moisture sources. Air temperature correlations with δ18O strengthen during the non-monsoon period (January―June, and October―December) due to continental air masses and the westerlies. In addition, evaporation also influences the δ18O variations in precipitation. The observed temporal and spatial variations of δ18O in precipitation on the western Tibetan Plateau and adjacent regions show that the late May and early June-the late August and early September time frame provides an important period for the transportation of moisture from various sources on the Tibetan Plateau, and that the region of the West Kunlun-Tanggula Ranges acts as a significant climatic divide on the Plateau, perhaps for all of western China.YU WuSheng MA YaoMing SUN WeiZhen WANG Yu 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,16:9

5Source and environmental significance of oxalate in Laohugou Glacier No. 12, Qilian Mountains, Western China显示文摘Retrieval of oxalate from snow and ice provides information on past environmental changes. In recent years, records of organic acids in middle-and low-latitude glaciers have attracted the attention of researchers globally. In this study, we analyzed oxalates in an ice core from Laohugou Glacier No. 12 on the Qilian Mountains at an elevation of 5,040 m a.s.l. in2006. Average oxalate concentration was 18.5±2.4 ng/g over the prior 46 years. Oxalate values showed a significantly increasing trend since 1985. From 1985 to 1995, oxalate concentrations had large fluctuations, peaking in about 1987 and exhibiting a slightly decreasing trend since 1995. 7PerfMon: Measuring Application-Level Performance in a Large-Scale Campus Wireless Network显示文摘WiFi has become one of the most popular ways to access the Internet.However,in large-scale campus wireless networks,it is challenging for network administrators to provide optimized access quality without knowledge on fine-grained traffic characteristics and real network performance.In this paper,we implement PerfMon,a network performance measurement and diagnosis system,which integrates collected multi-source datasets and analysis methods.Based on PerfMon,we first conduct a comprehensive measurement on application-level traffic patterns and behaviors from multiple dimensions in the wireless network of T university(TWLAN),which is one of the largest campus wireless networks.Then we systematically study the application-level network performance.We observe that the application-level traffic behaviors and performance vary greatly across different locations and device types.The performance is far from satisfactory in some cases.To diagnose these problems,we distinguish locations and device types,and further locate the most crucial factors that affect the performance.The results of case studies show that the influential factors can effectively characterize performance changes and explain for performance degradation.Weizhen Dang Tao Yu Haibo Wang Jing’An Xue Fenghua Li Jilong Wang 2023China Communications2023,20,3:0
8Responses of photosynthetic characteristics and leaf senescence in summer maize to simultaneous stresses of waterlogging and shading显示文摘A field experiment was performed to investigate the physiological mechanism of the simultaneous stresses of waterlogging and shading on leaf photosynthetic and senescence during three growth stages of summer maize.The responses of leaf gas exchange parameters and antioxidant enzyme activities of the summer maize hybrids Denghai 605(DH605)to waterlogging(W),shading(S),and their combination(W+S)for 6 days at the third leaf stage(V3),the sixth leaf stage(V6),and the tasseling stage(VT)were recorded.Shading,waterlogging,and their combination disturbed the activities of protective enzymes and increased the contents of H2O2and O-2,accelerating leaf senescence and disordering photosynthetic characteristics.Under waterlogging,shading and their combination,leaf Pn,the photo-assimilates and grain yield was decreased.The greatest reduction for waterlogging and the combined stresses occurred at V3 and that for shading stress occurred at VT.The individual and combined stresses reduced the activities of protective enzymes and inhibited photosynthesis,reducing the accumulation of photosynthetic compounds and thereby yield.Waterlogging and the combined stresses at the V3 stage showed the greatest effect on leaf photosynthetic and senescence,followed by the V6 and VT stages.The greatest effect for shading stress occurred at VT,followed by the V6 and V3 stages,and the combined influence of shading and waterlogging was greater than that of either single stress.Baizhao Ren Weizhen Yu Peng Liu Bin Zhao Jiwang Zhang 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,1:0
9Investigation on the radioactivity levels of seawater,sediments,and biota in Daya Bay,China显示文摘Objective:To investigate the radioactivity levels of seawater,sediments,and biota in the Daya Bay sea area,China,in order to establish the radioactivity baseline values,and provide basic data for the assessment of potential radiological risks that might result from the application of nuclear technology or human activities.Methods:Samples of seawater,sediments,and biota were collected from the Daya Bay sea area and analyzed.Their radioactivity baseline data were then compared with information from other regions in China and around the world reported in related literature.Results:For the seawater samples,the activity concentrations of natural radionuclide ^(40)K were 9.9-10.4 Bq/L,while ^(238)U,226Ra,^(210)Pb,^(137)Cs,and ^(110)Ag^(m) were below the minimum detectable activity(MDA).Regarding the sediment samples,the activity concentrations of ^(238)U,^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(210)Pb,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 38.1-40.4,49.1-53.7,32.6-38.6,59-95,590-650,and 0.48-0.88 Bq/(kg dry weight),respectively,while ^(110)Agm was below the MDA.For the marine shrimps in the biota samples,the activity concentrations of ^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 1.14-2.75,0.17-0.43,63-76,and 0.038-0.045 Bq/(kg wet weight),respectively,while ^(238)U,^(210)Pb,and ^(110)Agm were all below the MDA.Furthermore,for the marine fishes in the biota samples,the activity concentrations of ^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(210)Pb,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 2.1-19.7,0.32-3.78,<2.2-2.8,59-70,and<0.007-0.026 Bq/(kg wet weight),respectively,while ^(238)U and ^(110)Ag^(m) were all below the MDA.^(228)Ra was found to be concentrated in Osteomugil ophuyseni with 19.7 Bq/(kg wet weight).Conclusions:The radioactivity levels of seawater and marine sediments in the Daya Bay sea area are within the range of the normal background values.Osteomugil ophuyseni exhibited higher concentrations of ^(228)Ra than other species in this study,while the other species in the biota show no significant difference in the radioactivity levels from data in relevant literature.Fan Cui Honghui Huang Yi Shen Zhan Tan Pengxiang Qu Ming Dai Hongwei Yu Weixu Huang Zixiang Wu Huifeng Chen Weizhen Guo Yuxin Jia Yanbing Liu 2023Radiation Medicine and Protection2023,4,3:0
10Unraveling the synergetic mechanism of physisorption and chemisorption in laser-irradiated monolayer WS_(2)显示文摘To further improve the quantum efficiency of atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is crucial for the realization of high-performance optoelectronic applications. To this regard, a few chemical or physical approaches such as superacid treatment, electrical gating, dielectric screening, and laser irradiation have been developed. In particular, the laser irradiation appears to be a more efficient way with good processability and spatial selectivity. However, the underlying mechanism especially about whether chemisorption or physisorption plays a more important role is still debatable. Here, we unravel the mystery of laser irradiation induced photoluminescence enhancement in monolayer WS_(2) by precisely controlling irradiation time and environment. It is found that the synergetic effect of physisorption and chemisorption is responsible for the photoluminescence enhancement, where the physisorption dominates with more than 74% contribution. 11Impact of short-term ambient air pollution exposure on the risk of severe COVID-19显示文摘Ecological studies suggested a link between air pollution and severe COVID-19 outcomes,while studies accounting for individual-level characteristics are limited.In the present study,we aimed to investigate the impact of short-term ambient air pollution exposure on disease severity among a cohort of 569 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted to designated hospitals in Zhejiang province,China,from January 17 to March 3,2020,and elucidate the possible biological processes involved using transcriptomics.Compared with mild cases,severe cases had higher proportion of medical conditions as well as unfavorable results in most of the laboratory tests,and manifested higher air pollution exposure levels.Higher exposure to air pollutants was associated with increased risk of severe COVID-19 with odds ratio(OR)of 1.89(95%confidence interval(CI):1.01,3.53),2.35(95%CI:1.20,4.61),2.87(95%CI:1.68,4.91),and 2.01(95%CI:1.10,3.69)for PM_(2.5),PM_(10),NO_(2)and CO,respectively.OR for NO_(2)remained significant in two-pollutant models after adjusting for other pollutants.Transcriptional analysis showed 884 differentially expressed genes which mainly were enriched in virus clearance related biological processes between patients with high and low NO_(2)exposure levels,indicating that compromised immune response might be a potential underlying mechanistic pathway.These findings highlight the impact of shortterm air pollution exposure,particularly for NO_(2),on COVID-19 severity,and emphasize the significance in mitigating the COVID-19 burden of commitments to improve air quality.Baihuan Feng Jiangshan Lian Fei Yu Dan Zhang Weizhen Chen QiWang Yifei Shen Guoliang Xie Ruonan Wang Yun Teng Bin Lou Shufa Zheng Yida Yang Yu Chen 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,1:0
12Charging states on atmospheric aerosol particles affected by meteorological conditions显示文摘Previous studies on haze formation focused mainly on the various chemical components in aerosol particles and their physicochemical effects on particle behaviour(e.g.,generation,growth,and agglomeration).This paper describes the measurement of the charging state on atmospheric aerosol particles,which could be affected by meteorological conditions.A series of experiments on particle charging state and meteorological factors was undertaken on the roof of the west 4th building on the Qujiang Campus at Xi'an Jiaotong University(China).Measurements were conducted approximately 20 m above ground level,Our results showed that most atmospheric particles carried net negative or positive charge and that the electric charge on the particles varied diurnally and seasonally.The average amount of charge on particles was higher in winter than in summer.The number concentration of charged particles was higher during the day than overnight.Obvious difference in the average charge of aerosol particles was found between sand-dust days and haze days.A strong relationship was found between the PM2.s concentration,charge amount on particles,and humidity.Our findings show that particle formation and growth could partly be attributed to variation in particle charging state,which is related to meteorological conditions including atmospheric humidity.Yuanping He Zhaolin Gu Weizhen Lu Liyuan Zhang Daizhou Zhang Tomoaki Okuda Chuck Wah Yu 2020Particuology2020,18,5:0
13Effects of angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blocker usage on viral load,antibody dynamics, and transcriptional characteristics among COVID-19 patients with hypertension显示文摘Epidemiological evidence suggests that patients with hypertension infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)are at increased risk of acute lung injury.However,it is still not clear whether this increased risk is related to the usage of renin-angiotensin system(RAS)blockers.We collected medical records of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients from the First Affiliated Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine(Hangzhou,China),and evaluated the potential impact of an angiotensin II receptor blocker(ARB)on the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 patients with hypertension.A total of 30 hypertensive COVID-19 patients were enrolled,of which 17 were classified as non-ARB group and the remaining 13 as ARB group based on the antihypertensive therapies they received.Compared with the non-ARB group,patients in the ARB group had a lower proportion of severe cases and intensive care unit(ICU)admission as well as shortened length of hospital stay,and manifested favorable results in most of the laboratory testing.Viral loads in the ARB group were lower than those in the non-ARB group throughout the disease course.No significant difference in the time of seroconversion or antibody levels was observed between the two groups.The median levels of soluble angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(sACE2)in serum and urine samples were similar in both groups,and there were no significant correlations between serum sACE2 and biomarkers of disease severity.Transcriptional analysis showed 125 differentially expressed genes which mainly were enriched in oxygen transport,bicarbonate transport,and blood coagulation.Our results suggest that ARB usage is not associated with aggravation of COVID-19.These findings support the maintenance of ARB treatment in hypertensive patients diagnosed with COVID-19.Baihuan FENG Dan ZHANG Qi WANG Fei YU Qianda ZOU Guoliang XIE Ruonan WANG Xianzhi YANG Weizhen CHEN Bin LOU Shufa ZHENG Yu CHEN 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,4:0
14Open-source algorithm and software for computed tomography-based virtual pancreatoscopy and other applications显示文摘Pancreatoscopy plays a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic diseases.However,the risk of pancreatoscopy is remarkably greater than that of other endoscopic procedures,such as gastroscopy and bronchoscopy,owing to its severe invasiveness.In comparison,virtual pancreatoscopy(VP)has shown notable advantages.However,because of the low resolution of current computed tomography(CT)technology and the small diameter of the pancreatic duct,VP has limited clinical use.In this study,an optimal path algorithm and super-resolution technique are investigated for the development of an open-source software platform for VP based on 3D Slicer.The proposed segmentation of the pancreatic duct from the abdominal CT images reached an average Dice coefficient of 0.85 with a standard deviation of 0.04.Owing to the excellent segmentation performance,a fly-through visualization of both the inside and outside of the duct was successfully reconstructed,thereby demonstrating the feasibility of VP.In addition,a quantitative analysis of the wall thickness and topology of the duct provides more insight into pancreatic diseases than a fly-through visualization.The entire VP system developed in this study is available at http://gffzz188fe103f8f1460asfxcfxwb9qp5n6vuw.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/gaoyi/VirtualEndoscopy.git.Haofan Huang Xiaxia Yu Mu Tian Weizhen He Shawn Xiang Li Zhengrong Liang Yi Gao 2022Visual Computing for Industry,Biomedicine,and Art2022,5,1:0
