1Simultaneous virus identification and characterization of severe unexplained pneumonia cases using a metagenomics sequencing technique显示文摘Many viruses can cause respiratory diseases in humans.Although great advances have been achieved in methods of diagnosis,it remains challenging to identify pathogens in unexplained pneumonia(UP) cases.In this study,we applied next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology and a metagenomic approach to detect and characterize respiratory viruses in UP cases from Guizhou Province,China.A total of 33 oropharyngeal swabs were obtained from hospitalized UP patients and subjected to NGS.An unbiased metagenomic analysis pipeline identified 13 virus species in 16 samples.Human rhinovirus C was the virus most frequently detected and was identified in seven samples.Human measles virus,adenovirus B 55 and coxsackievirus A10 were also identified.Metagenomic sequencing also provided virus genomic sequences,which enabled genotype characterization and phylogenetic analysis.For cases of multiple infection,metagenomic sequencing afforded information regarding the quantity of each virus in the sample,which could be used to evaluate each viruses' role in the disease.Our study highlights the potential of metagenomic sequencing for pathogen identification in UP cases.Xiaohui Zou Guangpeng Tang Xiang Zhao Yan Huang Tao Chen Mingyu Lei Wenbing Chen Lei Yang Wenfei Zhu Li Zhuang Jing Yang Zhaomin Feng Dayan Wang Dingming Wang Yuelong Shu 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3:14
2Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of chalcone analogues with novel dual antioxidant mechanisms as potential anti-ischemic stroke agents显示文摘Scavenging reactive oxygen species(ROS) by antioxidants is the important therapy to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury(CIRI) in stroke. The antioxidant with novel dual-antioxidant mechanism of directly scavenging ROS and indirectly through antioxidant pathway activation may be a promising CIRI therapeutic strategy. In our study, a series of chalcone analogues were designed and synthesized, and multiple potential chalcone analogues with dual antioxidant mechanisms were screened. Among these compounds, the most active 33 not only conferred cytoprotection of H2 O2-induced oxidative damage in PC12 cells through scavenging free radicals directly and activating NRF2/ARE antioxidant pathway at the same time, but also played an important role against ischemia/reperfusion-related brain injury in animals. More importantly, in comparison with mono-antioxidant mechanism compounds, 33 exhibited higher cytoprotective and neuroprotective potential in vitro and in vivo. 3Religion and stock price crash risk:Evidence from China显示文摘This paper investigates whether religious traditions influence firm-specific crash risk in China.Using a sample of A-share listed firms from 2003 to 2013,we provide evidence that the more intense the religious environment,the lower the stock price crash risk,implying that religion plays an important role in Chinese corporate governance.Further,we find that(1) religion affects stock price crash risk by reducing earnings management and the management perk problem;(2) different religions have different effects,and Taoism,in particular,is unrelated to crash risk; and(3) the effects of religion are more pronounced with higher quality corporate governance and a stronger legal environment.Religion constrains the management agency problem,thus reducing stock price crash risk in China.Our paper enriches the literature on stock price crash risk and religion,and on new economic geography.Wenfei Li Guilong Cai 2016China Journal of Accounting Research2016,,3:7

6A dendrite-free Li plating host towards high utilization of Li metal anode in Li–O_2 battery显示文摘The intense interest of Li–O_2 battery stems from its ultrahigh theoretical energy density, but its application is still hindered by the issues of Li anode. Herein, RuO_2-CNTs composite, a conventional O_2 cathode catalyst in Li–O_2 battery, is first utilized as an anode host for dendrite-free Li plating/stripping with high Coulombic efficiency. It is demonstrated that such excellent plating/stripping performance arises from the lithiophilicity characteristic of Ru nanoparticles(that is derived from the in-situ electrochemical conversion from RuO_2 to Ru/Li_2O) and buffer space provided by CNTs. 8Efficacy of Rebixiao Chinese herbal tablets and Chinese formula granules in acute gout arthritis patients:a randomized,multicenter,double-blind,controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Rebixiao(RBX)Chinese herbal tablets(CHT)and Chinese formula granules(CFG)in the treatment of acute gout arthritis(AGA).METHODS:This randomized,multicenter,double-blind,controlled trial included 165 AGA patients with the damp-heat symptom pattern who were randomly divided into an RBX CHT group and an RBX CFG group and treated for 7 d at three centers.The total effective rates of the joint symptom score,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptoms score,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),and C-reactive protein(CRP)were used to evaluate the clinical efficacy.Safety assessments were also performed.RESULTS:Of the 165 enrolled patients,147 completed the clinical observation.There was no difference in baseline between the two groups.The total effective rates of the joint symptom score were 94.36%and 97.36%,and the total effective rates of the TCM symptoms score were 95.77%and 97.36%in the CFG group and CHT group,respectively.No statistical difference was found between the two groups(P>0.05).Additionally,ESR and CRP were similar in both groups(P>0.05).Furthermore,treatment efficacy regarding TCM and joint symptoms,the ESR,and CRP were consistent within each center and among the different centers(P>0.05).In addition,the incidence of adverse events was 4.22%and 2.63%in the CFG group and CHT group,respectively,and no difference was observed between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:RBX CFG and CHT have significant and similar efficacy in the treatment of AGA,and CFG did not increase adverse side effects.Wang Shasha Zhang Ying Dai Min Yang Min Leng Wenfei Peng Xiufeng Li Guojun Yang Jinbing Gan Jianping Zhu Fenglin Li Yanping Wu Bin 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4:3

10Simultaneous Biological Removal of p-Cresol, Sulfide and Nitrate by Denitrification显示文摘Biological removal of sulfide, nitrate, and p-cresol at a loading rate of 340 gS/(m^3 · d), 340 gN/(m^3 · d) and600 gC/(m^3 · d), respectively, was achieved in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket(UASB) reactor. The ratio of C/S could affect the elemental sulfur(S^0) accumulation, and the C/S ratio of 1.75:1 was optimal for S^0 accumulation. Strains Pseudomonas sp., Simplicispira sp., and Rhizobium sp. could likely yield heterotrophs. Strains Arcobacter sp.,Sulfurimonas sp., Sulfurovum sp., and Sulfurospirillum sp. are the autotrophics required for the proposed UASB system. 14The S190R mutation in the hemagglutinin protein of pandemic H1N1 2009 influenza virus increased its pathogenicity in mice显示文摘Human influenza viruses preferentially bind to sialic acid-α2,6-galactose (SAα2,6Gal) receptors, which are predominant in human upper respiratory epithelia, whereas avian influenza viruses preferentially bind to SAα2,3Gal receptors. However, variants with amino acid substitutions around the receptor-binding sites of the hemagglutinin (HA) protein can be selected after several passages of human influenza viruses from patients’ respiratory samples in the allantoic cavities of embryonated chicken eggs. In this study, we detected an egg-adapted HA S190R mutation in the pandemic H1N1 virus 2009 (pdmH1N1), and evaluated the effects of this mutation on receptor binding affinity and pathogenicity in mice. Our results revealed that residue 190 is located within the pocket structure of the receptor binding site. The single mutation to arginine at position 190 slightly increased the binding affinity of the virus to the avian receptor and decreased its binding to the long human α2,6-linked sialic acid receptor. Our study demonstrated that the S190R mutation resulted in earlier death and higher weight loss in mice compared with the wild-type virus.
