1Ultrasensitive skin‐like wearable optical sensors based on glass micro/nanofibers显示文摘Electronic skin,a class of wearable electronic sensors that mimic the functionalities of human skin,has made remarkable success in applications including health monitoring,human-machine interaction and electronic-biological interfaces.While electronic skin continues to achieve higher sensitivity and faster response,its ultimate performance is fundamentally limited by the nature of low-frequency AC currents.Herein,highly sensitive skin-like wearable optical sensors are demonstrated by embedding glass micro/nanofibers(MNFs)in thin layers of polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS).Enabled by the transition from guided modes into radiation modes of the waveguiding MNFs upon external stimuli,the skin-like optical sensors show ultrahigh sensitivity(1870 k·Pa^-1),low detection limit(7 mPa)and fast response(10μs)for pressure sensing,significantly exceeding the performance metrics of state-of-the-art electronic skins.Electromagnetic interference(EMI)-free detection of high-frequency vibrations,wrist pulse and human voice are realized.Moreover,a five-sensor optical data glove and a 2×2-MNF tactile sensor are demonstrated.These initial results pave the way toward a new category of optical devices ranging from ultrasensitive wearable sensors to optical skins.Lei Zhang Jing Pan Zhang Zhang Hao Wu Ni Yao Dawei Cai Yingxin Xu Jin Zhang Guofei Sun Liqiang Wang Weidong Geng Wenguang Jin Wei Fang Dawei Di Limin Tong 2020Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,3:12
2Total mesopancreas excision for pancreatic head cancer: analysis of 120 cases显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of total mesopancreas excision(TMpE) in the treatment of pancreatic head cancer. Methods: The clinical and pathological data of 120 patients with pancreatic head cancer who had undergone TMpE in our center from May 2010 to January 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The mean operative time was(275.0±50.2) min and the average intra-operative blood loss was(390.0±160.5) mL. Post-operative complications were reported in 45 patients, while no peri-operative death was noted. The specimen margins were measured in three dimensions, and 86 patients(71.6%) achieved R0 resection. 3Biological applications of carbon dots显示文摘Carbon dots(C-dots), since their first discovery in 2004 by Scrivens et al. during purification of single-walled carbon nanotubes, have gradually become a rising star in the fluorescent nanoparticles family, due to their strong fluorescence, resistance to photobleaching, low toxicity, along with their abundant and inexpensive nature. In the past decade, the procedures for preparing C-dots have become increasingly versatile and facile, and their applications are being extended to a growing number of fields. 4A conductive and biodegradable hydrogel for minimally delivering adipose-derived stem cells显示文摘Injectable hydrogel is one of the most important biomaterials for tissue engineering and drug delivery. However, it is still a challenge to obtain an injectable hydrogel with conductive property on account of the poor water solubility of conductive polymers. Here, a conductive hydrogel with controllable biodegradability was constructed for minimally delivering adipose mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs). Firstly, a disulfide containing and hyperbranched polymer structure poly(β-amino ester)(PBAE) with multi-acrylate end groups was synthesized by poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate(PEGDA) and cystamine, and then tetraaniline(TA) was grafted on the PBAE chain to obtain a conductive PBAE-TA polymer. PBAE-TA shows a good water solubility, which can be crosslinked by thiol-modified hyaluronic acid(HA-SH) due to the click reaction between acrylate and thiol to in situ form a hydrogel within 1 min. The hydrogel illustrates a good electrical conductivity of 9.6×10–3 S/cm and a controllable biodegradable behavior in dithiothreotol(DTT) solution. PBAE-TA/HA-SH hydrogel was subcutaneously injected for delivering ADSCs. The gene expression of Cx43 and TGF-β1 were up-regulated by PBAE-TA/HA-SH hydrogel, suggesting an enhancement in the electrical coupling and an anti-inflammatory property. 6DAMAGE DETECTION BASED ON OPTIMIZED INCOMPLETE MODE SHAPE AND FREQUENCY显示文摘For the purpose of structural health monitoring, a damage detection method combined with optimum sensor placement is proposed in this paper. The back sequential sensor placement(BSSP) algorithm is introduced to optimize the sensor locations with the aim of maximizing the 2-norm of information matrix, since the EI method is not suitable for optimum sensor placement based on eigenvector sensitivity analysis. Structural damage detection is carried out based on the respective advantages of mode shape and frequency. The optimized incomplete mode shapes yielded from the optimal sensor locations are used to localize structural damage. After the potential damage elements have been preliminarily identified, an iteration scheme is adopted to estimate the damage extent of the potential damage elements based on the changes in the frequency. 7Bioactive antiinflammatory antibacterial hemostatic citrate-based dressing with macrophage polarization regulation for accelerating wound healing and hair follicle neogenesis显示文摘The efficient cutaneous wound healing accompanied with the enhanced skin appendage regeneration is still a challenge.The bacterial infection and excessive/prolonged inflammation inhibit wound healing process and result in the scar formation.Herein,we reported an anti-inflammatory polycitrate-polyethyleneimine-Ibuprofen(PCEI)and multifunctional PCEI-based F127-ε-polypeptide-alginic(FEA)dressing(FEA-PCEI)for accelerating wound healing and hair follicle neogenesis.PCEI showed the excellent anti-inflammation function through stimulating macrophage towards anti-inflammatory M2 subtype polarization.The FEA-PCEI dressing showed the temperature-response gelation,injectability,robust antibacterial activity,light-damage-resistant,homeostasis ability,and good cytocompatibility.The optimized dosage of FEA-PCEI dressing could significantly accelerate wound healing with anti-infection ability,reduce the scar formation,and promote the hair follicle neogenesis.This study provided a wound-repairing strategy through regulating the phenotype of immune cells by the designing bioactive multifunctional biomaterials.Wenguang Liu Min Wang Wei Cheng Wen Niu Mi Chen Meng Luo Chenxi Xie Tongtong Leng Long Zhang Bo Lei 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,3:4

9Hepatopancreatoduodenectomy for advanced biliary malignancies显示文摘Background:Hepatopancreatoduodenectomy(HPD)has been considered the only curative treatment for metastatic cholangiocarcinoma and some locally advanced gallbladder cancers(GBCs).However,HPD has not yet been included in treatment guidelines as a standard surgical procedure in consideration of its morbidity and mortality rates.The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of HPD in treating biliary malignancies.Methods:The medical records of 57 patients with advanced biliary cancer undergoing HPD from January 2009 to December 2019 were retrospectively retrieved.A case-control analysis was conducted at our department.Patients with advanced GBC who underwent HPD(HPD-GBC group)were compared with a control group(None-HPD-GBC group).Baseline characteristics,preoperative treatments,tumor pathologic features,operative results,and prognosis were assessed.Results:Thirteen patients with cholangiocarcinoma and 44 patients with GBC underwent HPD at our department.Significant postoperative complications(grade III or greater)and postoperative pancreatic fistula were observed in 24(42.1%)and 15(26.3%)patients,respectively.One postoperative death occurred in the present study.Overall survival(OS)was longer in patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma than in those with GBC(median survival time[MST],31 months vs.11 months;P<0.001).In the subgroup analysis of patients with advanced GBC,multivariate analysis demonstrated that T4 stage tumors(P=0.012),N2 tumors(P=0.001),and positive margin status(P=0.004)were independently associated with poorer OS.Patients with either one or more prognostic factors exhibited a shorter MST than patients without those prognostic factors(P<0.001).Conclusion:HPD could be performed with a relatively low mortality rate and an acceptable morbidity rate in an experienced highvolume center.For patients with advanced GBC without an N2 or T4 tumor,HPD can be a preferable treatment option.Xiangsong Wu Maolan Li Wenguang Wu Xu’an Wang Huaifeng Li Runfa Bao Yijun Shu Jun Shen Jun Gu Xuefeng Wang Wei Gong Shuyou Peng Yingbin Liu 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,23:3
10Helmholtz Solving and Performance Optimization in Global/Regional Assimilation and Prediction System显示文摘Despite efficient parallelism in the solution of physical parameterization in the Global/Regional Assimilation and Prediction System(GRAPES),the Helmholtz equation in the dynamic core,with the increase of resolution,can hardly achieve sufficient parallelism in the solving process due to a large amount of communication and irregular access.In this paper,optimizing the Helmholtz equation solution for better performance and higher efficiency has been an urgent task.An optimization scheme for the parallel solution of the Helmholtz equation is proposed in this paper.Specifically,the geometrical multigrid optimization strategy is designed by taking advantage of the data anisotropy of grid points near the pole and the isotropy of those near memory equator in the Helmholtz equation,and the Incomplete LU(ILU)decomposition preconditioner is adopted to speed up the convergence of the improved Generalized Conjugate Residual(GCR),which effectively reduces the number of iterations and the computation time.The overall solving performance of the Helmholtz equation is improved by thread-level parallelism,vectorization,and reuse of data in the cache.The experimental results show that the proposed optimization scheme can effectively eliminate the bottleneck of the Helmholtz equation as regards the solving speed.Considering the test results on a 10-node two-way server,the solution of the Helmholtz equation,compared with the original serial version,is accelerated by 100,with one-third of iterations reduced.Jianqiang Huang Wei Xue Haodong Bian Wenxin Yan Xiaoying Wang Wenguang Chen 2021Tsinghua Science and Technology2021,26,3:2
11Clinical study of IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms in prostate cancer patients显示文摘Objective Recent studies have shown abnormal expression of NANOG and IL-18 to be related to cancer. However, the molecular mechanism by which IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer is unclear. In this study, we examined whether IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms and their interaction with prostate cancer-related risk factor are associated with the susceptibility to and clinicopathological development of prostate cancer among Chinese men.Methods Polymorphisms in the NANOG and IL-18 genes were evaluated for susceptibility in 120 patients with prostate cancer. The control group consisted of 125 samples from Chinese men. Genotyping was conducted using Taq Man allelic discrimination assays. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Results No association of NANOG and IL-18 gene polymorphisms and overall prostate cancer susceptibility was detected. The IL-18-607 CC genotype was significantly associated with a higher tumor grade(P = 0.025) and stage(P =0.001). The IL-18-137 GG genotype correlated with a higher tumor grade(P = 0.028) and stage(P = 0.008). The IL-18-137 G allele was significantly more frequent in patients with lymph node metastasis(P = 0.035). The IL-18-607 CC genotype was associated with distant metastasis(P = 0.025). However, no significant association was observed between NANOG polymorphisms and any clinicopathological feature. The Cox proportional hazard model showed that tumor grade and stage grouping were independent prognostic factors in IL-18, while IL-18 polymorphism was not. Polymorphism variants in the IL-18(IL-18-607 and IL-18-137) and NANOG(genotypes AC) genes might be associated with a worse prognosis of patients with prostate cancer.Conclusion NANOG may be associated with the early stages of prostate cancer carcinogenesis. 12A multifunctional biomedical patch based on hyperbranched epoxy polymer and MXene显示文摘Biomedical patches play fundamental roles in various applications such as wound closure and tissue regeneration.The hybrid patches integrating versatile properties will prominently improve the therapeutic effects in clinical applications.Herein,an epoxy network loading curcumin and Ti3 C2 TxMXenes were developed as a hybrid biomedical patch.The hybrid patch was basically prepared through an epoxy/thiol curing chemistry,and its topological structure can be destructed and rearranged as a vitrimer does due to the active transesterification at high temperature.The resulted hybrid patch exhibits shape-morphing capability,multi-substrate adhesion,self-healing ability,and photothermal effects under 980 nm near infrared(NIR).Additionally,the asprepared hybrid patch possesses strong UV-shielding,excellent oxidation resistance(ROS scavenging efficiency was 89.3%in3 min),highly effective antibacterial vitality(more than 99%)against S.aureus and E.coli,and good cytocompatibility.As a proof of concept,the present multifunctional hybrid patch broadens the potential applications in the biomedical field.ZOU Yang JIN Xin ZHANG XiaoPing KONG XiaoLing ZHANG Qian XIE XianHua LIU ChangJun KE LinNan LIU WenGuang WANG Wei 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,12:2
13Significant association between IL-18 and OCT4 gene polymorphisms in susceptibility and clinical characteristics of prostate cancer显示文摘Objective Recent studies have shown abnormal expression of octamer-binding transcription factor 4(OCT4) and interleukin-18(IL-18) to be related to cancer. However, the molecular mechanisms by which the IL-18 and OCT4 gene polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to determine whether the presence of IL-18 and OCT4 polymorphisms were associated with size, grade, tumor, nodes and metastasis(TNM) stage, or survival in patients with prostate cancer.Methods Polymorphisms in OCT4 and IL-18 genes were evaluated to determine susceptibility to prostate cancer in 120 patients. A control group consisted of 125 Chinese participants. Genotyping was performed using TaqMan allelic discrimination assays, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. Results No association was found between OCT4 and IL-18 gene polymorphisms and prostate cancer susceptibility. For OCT4 AA and IL-18-607 CC genotypes, there was a significant association with higher tumor grade(P = 0.03 and P = 0.025) and stage(P = 0.04 and P = 0.001). The OCT4 and IL-18-137 GG genotype was correlated with higher tumor grade(P = 0.028) and stage(P = 0.008). 14“Ferrero-like”nanoparticles knotted injectable hydrogels to initially scavenge ROS and lastingly promote vascularization in infarcted hearts显示文摘Myocardial infarction(MI)exhibits a complicated and ever-accelerated pathological change involving excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)and the up-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the initial stage,and a permanently inadequate blood supply.Herein,an injectable hydrogel fabricated by nanoparticles(NPs)knotted thiolated hyaluronic acid(HA-SH)was reported to reverse the hostile microenvironment and rebuild the heart functions after MI.Inspired by the composite shell-core structure of Ferrero chocolate sphere,a mimetic nanocarrier was designed to consist of the hydrophobic dimethyloxalylglycine(DMOG)NPs core and a thick polydopamine(PDA)shell formed by the self-polymerization of dopamine embedded with watersoluble drug epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG)throughπ-πinteractions.The resulted'Ferrero-like'NPs exhibited a'three-inone'capacity,namely loading two distinct drugs,elimination of ROS,and serving a crosslinker to knot HA-SH.'Ferrero-like'NPs and HA-SH could rapidly form a hydrogel that exhibited a stable mechanical property,high capability to capture ROS,and programmed release of EGCG and DMOG.Four weeks after deploying the'Ferrero-like'NPs knotted hydrogels into rat infarcted hearts,the ejection fraction(EF)increased by 23.7%,and the infarct size decreased by 21.1%,and the fibrotic area reduced by 24.4%.The outcomes of immunofluorescence staining and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RTPCR)demonstrated a down-regulation of inflammatory factors(tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),interferon-γ(IFN-γ)),up-regulation of vascular related growth factors(hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α),vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGFA),von Willebrand factor(vWF),angiopoietin-1(Ang-1))and cardiac-related m RNAs(gap junction protein(Cx43),Cadherin 2).All in all,in this report,a very simple approach to intertemporally address the intricate and ongoing pathological changes after MI by injecting'Ferrero-like'NPs knotted hydrogels is developed to reverse hostile microenvironment,with an ability to scavenge ROS,down-regulate pro-inflammation factors in the first stage,and promote angiogenesis in a long term,thereby contributing to a significant improvement of heart functions.HAN XiaoXu LI Lan XIE Tian CHEN Si ZOU Yang JIN Xin LI Sheng WANG Meng HAN Ning FAN GuanWei LIU WenGuang WANG Wei 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,11:2
