| 1 | Effect of contrast-enhanced ultrasound on differential diagnosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and arterial phase enhanced hepatic inflammatory lesions显示文摘Objective: To investigate differential diagnosis between intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC) and arterial phase enhanced hepatic inflammatory lesions in patients without liver cirrhosis using contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS).Methods: ICC and hepatic inflammatory lesions cases with CEUS and pathological diagnosis between Sep 2013 and Oct 2016 were investigated retrospectively. Imaging features of conventional ultrasound and CEUS were analyzed. The parameters of time intensity curve(TIC), including the arrival time, peak intensity(PI) in the lesions, the starting time for washout, and the intensity difference at 3 min(ΔI_3) after contrast agent infection between the lesion and the liver parenchyma, were compared between ICC and hepatic inflammatory lesions.Results: Twenty-five ICC and fifteen inflammatory patients were included in this study. Seventeen ICC(68.0%)and two inflammatory cases(13.3%) showed bile duct dilatation on conventional ultrasound. Using CEUS, three ICC cases(12.0%) were misdiagnosed as inflammatory lesions and three inflammatory lesions(20.0%) as ICC; two ICC(8.0%) and one inflammatory case(6.7%) could not be made definite diagnosis. Washout started at 34.5±3.5 s and 61.5±12.9 s for ICC and inflammatory lesions respectively(P<0.001). The intensity difference between lesion and liver parenchyma at 3 min after contrast agent injection was 10.8±3.1 dB in ICC and 4.2±2.3 dB in inflammatory group(P<0.001). | 12 | Multiple thermal events recorded in the Acasta Gneiss Complex:Evidence from in-situ dating of zircon, titanite, and apatite显示文摘In-situ dating of the zircons, titanites, and apatites in the rock fragments of approximately 1 cm2in size from the Acasta Gneiss Complex was performed using secondary ion mass spectrometry or laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry to provide constraints on the thermal history of the Acasta Gneiss Complex. The zircons in these rock fragments typically exhibit multiple age populations, reflecting the presence of inherited zircons or the post-crystallization process of zircon overgrowth. Combined with previous studies, our zircon dating results reveal multiple magmatic events that occurred in the Acasta Gneiss Complex, specifically at >3.96, ~3.72, and ~3.57 Ga, respectively. A titanite Pb-Pb isochron age of2911±22 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=1.5) for sample AY199 is identified, consistent with the timing of the latest Archean magmatism in the Acasta Gneiss Complex. The titanite U-Pb ages for samples AC478 and AY066 are 1932±270 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=2.3) and 1813±45 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=2.3), respectively. The apatites in sample P090803-C exhibit a Pb-Pb isochron age of 1833±26 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=1.4). The apatite U-Pb ages for samples AC478, AY199, and AY066 are 1850±20 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=1.3), 1827±100 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=6.3), and 1807±58 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=3.9), respectively. | 14 | NPR-9 regulates the innate immune response in Caenorhabditis elegans by antagonizing the activity of AIB interneurons显示文摘npr-9 encodes a homologue of the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) and is expressed in AIB interneurons. In this study, we investigated the role of NPR-9 in the neuronal control of innate immunity using the model system Caenorhabditis elegans. After exposure to Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14, npr-9(tm1652) mutants showed resistance to infection, decreased PA14 colonization and increased expression of immunity-related genes. Nematodes overexpressing NPR-9 exhibited increased susceptibility to infection, increased PA14 colonization and reduced expression of immunity-related genes. In nematodes, ChR2-mediated AIB interneuron activation strengthened the innate immune response and decreased PA14 colonization. Overexpression of NPR-9 suppressed the innate immune response and increased PA14 colonization in nematodes with the activation of AIB interneurons mediated by ChR2 or by expressing pkc-1(gf) in AIB interneurons. We, therefore, hypothesize that NPR-9 regulates the innate immune response by antagonizing the activity of AIB interneurons. Furthermore, expression of GRPR, the human homologue of NPR-9, could largely mimic NPR-9 function by regulating innate immunity in nematodes. | 15 | X-irradiation for inhibiting glial scar formation in injured spinal cord显示文摘X-irradiation has a beneficial effect in treating spinal cord injury. We supposed that X-irradiation could improve the microenvironment at the site of a spinal cord injury and inhibit glial scar formation. Thus, this study was designed to observe the effects of 8 Gy X-irradiation on the injury site at 6 hours and 2, 4, 7, and 14 days post injury, in terms of improvement in the microenvironment and hind limb motor function. Immunohistochemistry showed that the expression of macrophage marker ED-1 and the area with glial scar formation were reduced. In addition, the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan score was higher at 7 days post injury relative to the other time points post injury. Results indicated that X-irradiation at a dose of 8 Gy can inhibit glial scar formation and alleviate the inflammatory reaction, thereby repairing spinal cord injury. | 16 | Hyperbaric oxygen treatment for experimental intraocular hypertension in rats: An electroretinogram detection显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) is used for treating glaucoma, and affirmative curative effect has been obtained. HBO can sensitively reflect the obviously heightened b wave of electroretinogram (ERG) of injured tissue. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of HBO treatment on retinal function of rats with acute experimental intraocular hypertension with ERG. DESIGN: Randomized controlled experiment. SETTING: Department of Ophthalmology, Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University; Department of Hyperbaric Oxygen, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University; Department of Anatomy, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. MATERIALS: Eighteen adult healthy Wistar rats, of either gender, weighing from 150 to 250 g, were provided by the Animal Room of Central South University. Type YLCO. 5/ⅠA baby hyperbaric oxygen chamber, type LMS-2A two-channel physiological recorder, type BG-1 retina exposure system, Jiangwan type Ⅰstereotaxis instrument. METHODS: This experiment was carried out in the Central South University between March and September 2006. Eighteen healthy Wistar rats were made into models of acute experimental intraocular hypertension. Then, they were divided into two groups: model group and HBO treatment group, with 9 in each group. Following 7 days of HBO treatment, the rats in HBO treatment group were placed in Type YLCO. 5/ⅠA baby hyperbaric oxygen chamber, which was pressurized with pure oxygen( volume fraction 0.825±0.025).The treatment pressure was 0.2 MPa. The rats in HBO treatment group daily inhaled HBO for 80 minutes within 7 days; Rats in the model group were untouched. The performance of eyes was observed under the status of intraocular hypertension. ERG was recorded before, during and 7 days after modeling, meanwhile, the recovery rate of b wave from ERG was calculated. Recovery rate of b wave from ERG=(amplitude of b wave 7 days after modeling/ amplitude of b wave before modeling)×100%. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Performance of eyes under the status of intraocular hypertension. ② Recovery rate of b wave of ERG. RESULTS: All the 18 rats were involved in the final analysis. ① Performance of eyes under the status of intraocular hypertension.: When intraocular pressure increased until b wave of ERG disappeared, two eyes of rats with corneal opacity, dilated pupils, pale iris and stiffened eyeballs were found. ② Recovery rate of b wave of ERG in the HBO treatment group was significantly higher than that in the model group [(60.04± 19.33)% vs. (41.85±13.20)%,t =3.298,P < 0.01].
