| 1 | Destruction of the North China Craton显示文摘A National Science Foundation of China(NSFC) major research project,Destruction of the North China Craton(NCC),has been carried out in the past few years by Chinese scientists through an in-depth and systematic observations,experiments and theoretical analyses,with an emphasis on the spatio-temporal distribution of the NCC destruction,the structure of deep earth and shallow geological records of the craton evolution,the mechanism and dynamics of the craton destruction.From this work the following conclusions can be drawn:(1) Significant spatial heterogeneity exists in the NCC lithospheric thickness and crustal structure,which constrains the scope of the NCC destruction.(2) The nature of the Paleozoic,Mesozoic and Cenozoic sub-continental lithospheric mantle(CLM) underneath the NCC is characterized in detail.In terms of water content,the late Mesozoic CLM was rich in water,but Cenozoic CLM was highly water deficient.(3) The correlation between magmatism and surface geological response confirms that the geological and tectonic evolution is governed by cratonic destruction processes.(4) Pacific subduction is the main dynamic factor that triggered the destruction of the NCC,which highlights the role of cratonic destruction in plate tectonics. | ZHU RiXiang XU YiGang ZHU Guang ZHANG HongFu XIA QunKe ZHENG TianYu | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,10: | 119 |
| 2 | In-situ trace element analyses of zircons from Dabieshan Huangzhen eclogite:Trace element characteristics of eclogite-facies metamorphic zircon显示文摘The internal structures of zircons in eclogite from Huangzhen have been studied by cathodoluminescence (CL) microscopy. Two growth stages were distinguished: protolith magmatic cores and metamorphic overgrowth rims. These different domains were analyzed for trace elements using LAM-ICP-MS. The protolith and the overgrowth zircons have different trace elements characteristics. The trace element contents of protolith zircons are high and very variable. The overgrowth zircons show a typical trace element feature of equilibrium with garnet, e.g. low contents of HREE (132.2-197.6μg/g) and small differential degree of HREE ((Yb/Gd)cN=8.6-11.9). The contents of Nb, Ta and the ratio of Nb/Ta are lower in the metamorphic domains (0.5-1.4μg/g, 0.7-1.5μg/g, 0.3-1.3, respectively) than in the protolith domains (3.8-19.7μg/g, 2.7-12.1μg/g, 1.0-4.6, respectively). | 4 | Water content in the early Cretaceous lithospheric mantle beneath the south-central Taihang Mountains: implications for the destruction of the North China Craton显示文摘Based on studies of the water content of the early Cretaceous Feixian high-magnesium basalts in the eastern part of the North China Craton(NCC),it has been suggested that the early Cretaceous lithospheric mantle of the eastern NCC was highly hydrous([1,000 ppm,H2O wt.)and that this high water content had significantly reduced the viscosity of the lithospheric mantle and provided a prerequisite for the destruction of the NCC.The eastern part of the NCC had undergone multistage subduction of oceanic plates from the south,north,and east sides since the early Paleozoic,and these events may have caused the strong hydration of the NCC lithospheric mantle.To determine which subduction had contributed most to this hydration,we measured the water contents of the peridotite xenoliths hosted by the early Cretaceous high-magnesium diorites of Fushan in the southcentral part of the Taihang Mountains.Our results demonstrate that the water content of the early Cretaceous lithospheric mantle beneath the south part of the Taihang Mountains was*40 ppm and significantly lower than that of the contemporary lithospheric mantle beneath the eastern part of the NCC.Thus,the hydration of the early Cretaceous lithospheric mantle of the eastern part of the NCC can be ascribed to the subduction of the Pacific plate from the west side.Thus,the main dynamic factor in the destruction of the NCC was likely the subduction of the Pacific plate. | Shaochen Liu Qunke Xia | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,13: | 7 |
| 5 | Oxygen isotopic compositions of zircons from pyroxenite of Daoshichong, Dabieshan: Implications for crust-mantle interaction显示文摘Oxygen isotopic compositions of zircons from pyroxenite (-145 Ma) of Daoshichong, Dabieshan have been measured by an ion microprobe. Both within the single grain and among different grains, oxygen isotopic ratios are homogeneous, σ18O = (7.66‰±0.46)‰(1 SD, 1σ=0.10, n = 22). High σ18O values indicate that the mantle-derived parent magma of Daoshichong pyroxenite have undergone interaction with crustal materials. Combing with other geo-chemical constraints, the way of crust-mantle interaction is suggested to be source mixing other than crustal contamination. The time interval between crust-mantle interaction and formation of the parent magma of Daoshichong pyroxenite is less than several million years. | 6 | Structural OH in mantle-derived clinopyroxene megacrysts from Nushan显示文摘Thirteen clinopyroxene megacrysts from Nushan Cenozoic basalts have been investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR). The results demonstrate that all samples contain trace amount of structural OH. Clinopyroxenes from Nushan show four groups of absorption bands, in which, 3 472-3 506 cm -1 is the major characteristic one. | 7 | Zircon SIMS ages and chemical compositions from Northern Dabie Terrain:Its implication for pyroxenite genesis显示文摘We present the results of a detailed micro-scale investigation of zircons from pyroxenites, Daoshicong Northern Dabie using a combination of SIMS and ICPMS. The SIMS measurements gave ages of 134-159 Ma. Its average of (144.516.2) Ma is interpreted as the best estimate of the pyroxenite intrusion. The crystallization of zircons continued for quite a long time and underwent slow cooling. The pyroxenites are products of post-collision magmatism. | 13 | Ammonium Impacts on Vibrations of Hydroxyl and Lattice of Phengite at High Temperature and High Pressure显示文摘Dehydration in hydrous phases of the downgoing slab controls water release processes in subduction zones. Interplay between volatiles in hydrous minerals has complicated the previous knowledge of their dehydration. Phengite is an essential mineral carrying both hydrogen and nitrogen to the deep Earth. To further understand the link between nitrogen and dehydration process of phengite at an atomic level, we here carry out high temperature and high pressure vibrational spectroscopic investigations on hydroxyl and lattice of ammonium-bearing and ammonium-free phengites. The results show that heating to 800 oC hardly influences hydroxyl bonding strength, whereas pressure induces strengthening of hydrogen bonding until 10 GPa. Moreover, hydrogen transits between the sites with increasing temperature and pressure. The lattice modes soften with increasing temperature and stiffen under compression. Ammonium has no effect on hydroxyl bonding strength, but hinders hydrogen transition at high temperatures and high pressures. Ammonium does not influence the lattice at high pressures either, but delays softening of the lattice at high temperatures.
