Long-term effects of gravel―sand mulch on soil organic carbon and nitrogen in the Loess Plateau of northwestern China显示文摘Gravel–sand mulch has been used for centuries to conserve water in the Loess Plateau of northwestern China. In this study, we assessed the influence of long-term(1996–2012) gravel–sand mulching of cultivated soils on total organic carbon(TOC), light fraction organic carbon(LFOC), microbial biomass carbon(MBC), total organic nitrogen(TON), particulate organic carbon(POC), mineral-associated organic carbon(MOC), permanganate-oxidizable carbon(KMn O4-C), and non-KMn O4-C at 0–60 cm depths. Mulching durations were 7, 11 and 16 years, with a non-mulched control. Compared to the control, there was no significant and consistently positive effect of the mulch on TOC, POC, MOC, KMn O4-C and non-KMn O4-C before 11 years of mulching, and these organic C fractions generally decreased significantly by 16 years. LFOC, TON and MBC to at a 0–20 cm depth increased with increasing mulching duration until 11 years, and then these fractions decreased significantly between 11 and 16 years, reaching values comparable to or lower than those in the control. KMn O4-C was most strongly correlated with the labile soil C fractions. Our findings suggest that although gravel–sand mulch may conserve soil moisture, it may also lead to long-term decreases in labile soil organic C fractions and total organic N in the study area. The addition of manure or composted manure would be a good choice to reverse the soil deterioration that occurs after 11 years by increasing the inputs of organic matter. | Yang QIU ZhongKui XIE YaJun WANG Sukhdev S MALHI JiLong REN | 2015 | Journal of Arid Land2015,7,1: | 7
Toxoplasma gondii GRA15II effector-induced M1 cells ameliorate liver fibrosis in mice infected with Schistosomiasis japonica显示文摘Recent studies indicated that type II Toxoplasma gondii(Tg)GRA15II favored the generation of classically activated macrophages(M1),whereas type I/III TgROP16I/III promoted the polarization of alternatively activated macrophages(M2).A number of studies have demonstrated that M2 cells are involved in the pathogenesis of the liver fibrogenesis caused by Schistosoma japonicum. The purpose of the present study was to explore the inhibitory effect of Toxoplasma-derived TgGRA15II on mouse hepatic fibrosis with schistosomiasis. The gra15II and rop16I/III genes were amplified from strains T.gondii PRU and Chinese 1 Wh3,respectively.Lentiviral vectors containing the gra15II or rop16I/III plasmid were constructed and used to infect the RAW264.7 cell line. The polarization of the transfected cells was evaluated, followed by co-culture of the biased macrophages with mouse hepatic stellate JS1 cells. Then, mice were injected with GRA15II-driven macrophages via the tail vein and infected with S.japonicum cercariae.TgGRA15II induced a M1-biased response, whereas TgROP16I/III drove the macrophages to a M2-like phenotype. The in vitro experiments indicated that JS1 cell proliferation and collagen synthesis were decreased following co-culture with TgGRA15II-activated macrophages.Furthermore, mice inoculated with TgGRA15II-biased macrophages displayed a notable alleviation of collagen deposition and granuloma formation in their liver tissues. Our results suggest that TgGRA15II-induced M1 cells may dampen the M2 dominant pathogenesis of hepatic fibrosis and granulomatosis. These results provide insights into the use of parasite-derived immunomodulators as potential anti-fibrosis agents and to re-balance the schistosomiasis-induced immune response. | Yuanyuan Xie Huiqin Wen Ke Yan Shushu Wang Xuesong Wang Jian Chen Yuanling Li Yuanhong Xu Zhengrong Zhong Jilong Shen Deyong Chu | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,2: | 4
Simulation Research on Stress Intensity Factors of Different Crack Aspect Ratios on Hollow Axles显示文摘Because of the wicked service environment of the high speed train,it is possible that the hollow axle of the train may encounter the foreign object damage and form a sharp notch.Under the fatigue loading a crack can initiate from the notch and propagate to failure. It is noted that the stress intensity factor is the control parameter of the crack propagating, for the purpose of getting the more exact propagation characteristics, the stress intensity factor is studied mainly. The service loads of hollow axles are defined, and the stress distribution of hollow axles is obtained according to the load spectrum. The semi-ellipse crack configuration is defined with three parameters:the aspect ratio, the relative depth and the relative location along the crack front.Quarter point 20-node isoparametric degenerate singular elements are used for the region near the crack tip.The finite element model of crack extension of hollow axle is created, and the crack front is dispersed which can realize orthogonal extension.Based on this the stress intensity factors of crack front were calculated, and the distribution rules of the stress intensity factors of different initial crack shapes are obtained. The conclusions are compared with that of the analytic method and they agree with each other very well, and the calculating results show that there is a close relationship between the stress intensity factor and the initial crack shape. For a round crack the stress intensity factor at the surface point increases faster than the one at the center point with the crack propagation. However, for a narrow crack, the results are in contrast with that of a round one. So,all the cracks with different shapes propagate toward to a similar shape, and they grow at this shape to end.The study may contribute to the crack propagate characteristics research. | ZHOU Suxia XIE Jilong | 2009 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2009,22,5: | 2
DAMAGE TOLERANCE ANALYSIS ON HOLLOW AXLES OF HIGH SPEED MOTOR TRAINS显示文摘According to the rules of UIC515-3,the service loads of the axles arc defined, which include some different loads cases as follows:the static loads;the impact loads resulted from running through the rail joints and unevenness rails;the loads through curves and fi'om braking.Through the calculating and analysis, the stress distribution of the hollow axles is obtained for 200 km/h high speed motor trains used in China. At the same time, the fatigue crack growth of hollow axles is studied, and the initial surface cracks of 2 mm depth caused by hard objects strike or the other causes are discussed. On the basis of the linear elastic fracture mechanics theory, the stress intensity factor of the crack of the geometry transition outside the wheel scat is also studied.Associated with fatigue crack propagation equation and the corresponding crack propagation threshold, the crack propagation characteristics under different shapes are calculated. Then the running distances arc educed with different shapes propagating to the critical length, and the estimation of the residual lives about hollow axles which are the reference values of examine and repair limit of the hollow axle is given. | ZHOU Suxia XIE Jilong YANG Guangxue XIAO Nan | 2008 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2008,21,5: | 2

Single-cell RNA Sequencing Reveals Thoracolumbar Vertebra Heterogeneity and Rib-genesis in Pigs显示文摘Development of thoracolumbar vertebra(TLV)and rib primordium(RP)is a common evolutionary feature across vertebrates, although whole-organism analysis of the expression dynamics of TLV-and RP-related genes has been lacking. Here,we investigated the single-cell transcriptome landscape of thoracic vertebra(TV),lumbar vertebra(LV),and RP cells from a pig embryo at 27 days post-fertilization(dpf)and identified six cell types with distinct gene expression signatures.In-depth dissection of the gene expression dynamics and RNA velocity revealed a coupled process of osteogenesis and angiogenesis during TLV and RP development.Further analysis of cell type-specific and strand-specific expression uncovered the extremely high level of HOXA103′-UTR sequence specific to osteoblasts of LV cells, which may function as anti-HOXA10-antisense by counteracting the HOXA10-antisense effect to determine TLV transition. Thus, this work provides a valuable resource for understanding embryonic osteogenesis and angiogenesis underlying vertebrate TLV and RP development at the cell type-specific resolution, which serves as a comprehensive view on the transcriptional profile of animal embryo development. | Jianbo Li Ligang Wang Dawei Yu Junfeng Hao Longchao Zhang Adeniyi C.Adeola Bingyu Mao Yun Gao Shifang Wu Chunling Zhu Yongqing Zhang Jilong Ren Changgai Mu David M.Irwin Lixian Wang Tang Hai Haibing Xie Yaping Zhang | 2021 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2021,19,3: | 1
Low-latency full-field temporal magnification based on spectral compression显示文摘Temporal magnification is an emerging technology for the observation of single-shot optical signals with irregular and ultrafast dynamics, which exceed the speed, precision, and record length of conventional digitizers.Conventional temporal magnification schemes suffer from transmission delay and large volume of dispersive elements.Because only the signal envelope can be magnified in the dispersion-based schemes,real-time full-field(phase and amplitude)measurement for a complex ultrafast optical signal remains an open challenge. Here,a bandwidth-compressed temporal magnification scheme for low-latency full-field measurements of ultrafast dynamics is proposed.Unlike the dispersion-based schemes, temporal magnification of a complex optical signal is achieved by bandwidth compression. The bandwidth is coherently compressed by the Vernier effect relying on the detuned free spectral range of a periodic optical filter and time lens.Experimentally,a temporal magnification factor of 224 is realized, and full-field measurements for picosecond pulses are demonstrated. The proposal eliminates the dependence on dispersive elements and shows great potential in integration, which may pave a new path toward full-field measurement for nonrepetitive and statistically rare signals. | XIANGZHI XIE JILONG LI FEIFEI YIN KUN XU YITANG DAI | 2021 | Photonics Research2021,9,12: | 0
WELD ROOT MAGNIFICATION FACTORS FOR SEMI-ELLIPTICAL CRACKS IN T-BUTT JOINTS显示文摘Many researchers have focused their efforts on fatigue failures occurring on weld toes. In recent years, more and more fatigue failures occur on weld roots. Therefore, it is important to explore the behaviour of weld root fatigues. This paper investigates numerically the Magnification factors (Mk) for types of semi-elliptical cracks on the weld root of a T-butt joint. The geometry of the joint is determined by four important parameters: crack depth ratio, crack shape ratio, weld leg ratio and weld angle. A singular element approach is used to generate the corresponding finite element meshes. For each set of given four parameters of the semi-elliptical root crack, the corresponding T-butt joint is numerically simulated and its Mk at the deepest point of the weld root crack is obtained for the respective tension and shear loads. The variation range of the four parameters covers 750 cases for each load, totaling 1500 simulations are completed. The numerical results obtained are then represented by the curve to explore the effects of four parameters on the Mk. To obtain an approximate equation representing Mk as a function of the four parameters for each load, a multiple regression method is adopted and the related regression analysis is performed. The error distributions of the two approximate equations are compared with the finite element data. It is confirmed that the obtained approximate functions fit very well to the database from which they are derived. Therefore, these two equations present a valuable reference for engineering applications in T-butt joint designs. | Zhanxun Song Yeping Xiong Jilong Xie Jing Tang Xing | 2013 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2013,26,3: | 0
