| 1 | Petrography and chronology of lunar meteorite Northwest Africa 6950显示文摘Northwest Africa(NWA)6950 is an olivine-gabbro lunar meteorite that has a distinctly different petrographic texture from other lunar basalts.In this contribution,we report the petrography,mineralogy,and U-Pb geochronology of baddeleyite and phosphate in this lunar meteorite and make a comparison with other NWA 773 paired meteorites.NWA 6950 consists mainly of coarse-grained olivine,pyroxene,and plagioclase,with minor ilmenite,chromite,troilite,baddeleyite,taenite,and apatite.The abundant rounded to euhedral olivine has a limited Fo ranging from 68 to 69.Pyroxenes include both augite and pigeonite,with a narrow range of Mg#=71–80,and composition,respectively,En46-52Fs12-16Wo32-41 and En58-68Fs19-28Wo7-20.Plagioclase is mainly anhedral,conforming to the crystal margins of olivine and pyroxene.The plagioclase grains are elongated and several hundreds of microns in length.Raman spectra shows that plagioclase has been transformed into maskelynite,which is very calcic(An87-95)with low sodium and very low potassium(Ab4-9Or0.6-3.7).The weighted mean 207Pb/206Pb ages of baddeleyite and phosphate measured using a sensitive high resolution ion micro probe(SHRIMP II)are 3119±16 Ma(n=9,MSWD=2.5)(mean squared weighted deviates,MSWD)and 3119±18 Ma(n=15,MSWD=2.1),respectively,giving the crystallization age of the meteorite.NWA 6950 has similar mineral compositions,geochemical characteristics,and an almost identical age of crystallization to the magnesian gabbro of the NWA 773 clan.We conclude that NWA 6950 and NWA 773 are paired meteorites,which crystallize at ca.3119 Ma,and represent magmatic activities in the KREEP(potassium(K),rare earth elements(REE)and phosphorus(P)rich lunar material)region of the Moon. | Zemin BAO Yuruo SHI JLawford ANDERSON Allen KENNEDY Zuokai KE Xiangping GU Peizhi WANG Xiaochao CHE Yuelan KANG Huiyi SUN Chen WANG | 2020 | Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,4: | 2 |

| 4 | In-situ High-Temperature XRD and FTIR for Calcite, Dolomite and Magnesite: Anharmonic Contribution to the Thermodynamic Properties显示文摘In-situ powder X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectra were measured on the natural crystals of calcite(Ca0.996 Mg0.004 CO3), dolomite(Ca0.497 Mg0.454 Fe0.046 Mn0.003 CO3) and magnesite(Mg0.988 Ca0.010 Fe0.002 CO3), with a temperature up to 796 K. The thermal expansion coefficients were evaluated for these carbonate minerals, resulting in the values of 2.7×10^-5, 3.3×10^-5 and 3.5×10^-5 K^-1 for calcite, dolomite and magnesite, respectively. The magnitude of these coefficients is in the same order as those for the isothermal and elastic moduli of these carbonates(e.g., calcitedolomite>magnesite. | 5 | Improving corrosion resistance of Zn-5Al(wt%)alloy by microalloying with samarium显示文摘The role of the rare earth element Sm in as-cast Zn-5AI alloy was studied in this work.A three times higher improvement than the control group on corrosion resistance was found with rare earth Sm adding(0.15 wt%).By using an electron prove micro analyzer(EPMA),focused ion beam(FIB)and scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy(SKPFM)techniques,two main mechanisms of the premium performance of the Sm adding were revealed.One was that the non-uniform nucleation and component undercooling induced by Sm adding,reduced theα-AI layer spacing thus improved the covering efficiency of the Al_(2)O_(3)film.The other was that the dissolved Sm in the Zn/Al eutectic structure modulated the electron work function thus induced the attenuation of Volta potential discrepancy.The experimental results show that when the addition of Sm is 0.15 wt%,the minimum Volta potential difference betweenα-AI andη-Zn phases is achieved,and excessive or deficient Sm addition will increase the Volta potential difference. | Xiaochao Zhou Wei Shi Song Xiang | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,10: | 0 |
