| 1 | Ultra-thin, planar, Babinet-inverted plasmonic metalenses显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate the focusing of visible light with ultra-thin,planar metasurfaces made of concentrically perforated,30-nm-thick gold films.The perforated nano-voids—Babinet-inverted(complementary)nano-antennas—create discrete phase shifts and form a desired wavefront of cross-polarized,scattered light.The signal-to-noise ratio in our complementary nano-antenna design is at least one order of magnitude higher than in previous metallic nano-antenna designs.We first study our proof-of-concept‘metalens’with extremely strong focusing ability:focusing at a distance of only 2.5 mm is achieved experimentally with a 4-mm-diameter lens for light at a wavelength of 676 nm.We then extend our work with one of these‘metalenses’and achieve a wavelength-controllable focal length.Optical characterization of the lens confirms that switching the incident wavelength from 676 to 476 nm changes the focal length from 7 to 10 mm,which opens up new opportunities for tuning and spatially separating light at different wavelengths within small,micrometer-scale areas.All the proposed designs can be embedded on-chip or at the end of an optical fiber.The designs also all work for two orthogonal,linear polarizations of incident light. | Xingjie Ni Satoshi Ishii Alexander V Kildishev Vladimir M Shalaev | 2013 | Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1: | 20 |
| 2 | Spatial modeling of the carbon stock of forest trees in Heilongjiang Province, China显示文摘Heilongjiang province is the largest forest zone in China and the forest coverage rate is 46%. Forests of Heilongjiang province play an important role in the forest ecosystem of China. In this study we investigated the spatial distribution of forest carbon storage in Heilongjiang province using 3083 plots sampled in 2010. We attempted to fit two global models, ordinary least squares model(OLS), linear mixed model(LMM), and a local model, geographically weighted regression model(GWR), to the relationship between forest carbon content and stand, environment, and climate factors. Five predictors significantly affected forest carbon storage and spatial distribution, viz. average diameter of stand(DBH), number of trees per hectare(TPH), elevation(Elev), slope(Slope) and the product of precipitation and temperature(Rain_Temp). The GWR model outperformed the two global models in both model fitting and prediction because it successfully reduced both spatial autocorrelation and heterogeneity in model residuals. More importantly, the GWR model provided localized model coefficients for each location in the study area, which allowed us to evaluate the influences of local stand conditions and topographic features on tree and stand growth, and forest carbon stock. It also helped us to better understand the impacts of silvicultural and management activities on the amount and changes of forest carbon storage across the province. | 3 | Distributed coordinated adaptive tracking in networked redundant robotic systems with a dynamic leader显示文摘Distributed coordinated control of networked robotic systems formulated by Lagrange dynamics has recently been a subject of considerable interest within science and technology communities due to its broad engineering applications involving complex and integrated production processes,where high flexibility,manipulability,and maneuverability are desirable characteristics.In this paper,we investigate the distributed coordinated adaptive tracking problem of networked redundant robotic systems with a dynamic leader.We provide an analysis procedure for the controlled synchronization of such systems with uncertain dynamics.We also find that the proposed control strategy does not require computing positional inverse kinematics and does not impose any restriction on the self-motion of the manipulators;therefore,the extra degrees of freedom are applicable for other sophisticated subtasks.Compared with some existing work,a distinctive feature of the designed distributed control algorithm is that only a subset of followers needs to access the position information of the dynamic leader in the task space,where the underlying directed graph has a spanning tree.Subsequently,we present a simulation example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. | ZHOU Jin WU XingJie LIU ZengRong | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,5: | 14 |
| 4 | Optimal management of Korean pine plantations in multifunctional forestry显示文摘Korean pine is one of the most important plantation species in northeast China.Besides timber,it produces edible nuts and plantations sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.This study optimized the management of Korean pine plantations for timber production,seed production,carbon sequestration and for the joint production of multiple benefits.As the first step,models were developed for stand dynamics and seed production.These models were used in a simulation–optimization system to find optimal timing and type of thinning treatments and optimal rotation lengths.It was found that three thinnings during the rotation period were optimal.When the amount or profitability of timber production is maximized,suitable rotation lengths are 65–70 years and wood production is 5.5–6.0 m^3 ha^(-1) a^(-1).The optimal thinning regime is thinning from above.In seed production,optimal rotation lengths are over 100 years.When carbon sequestration in living biomass is maximized,stands should not be clear-cut until trees start to die due to senescence.In the joint production of multiple benefits,the optimal rotation length is 86 years if all benefits(wood,economic profits,seed,carbon sequestration) are equally important.In this management schedule,mean annual wood production is 5.5 m^2 ha^(-1) and mean annual seed yield 141 kg ha^(-1).It was concluded that it is better to produce timber and seeds in the same stands rather than assign stands to either timber production or seed production. | Xingji Jin Timo Pukkala Fengri Li Lihu Dong | 2017 | Journal of Forestry Research2017,28,5: | 8 |
| 5 | Deformation response of roof in solid backfilling coal mining based on viscoelastic properties of waste gangue显示文摘Solid backfill mining(SBM)is a form of green mining,the core of which is to control and minimize the deformation and movement of strata above longwall coal mines.Establishing a mechanical model that can reliably describe roof deformation by considering the viscoelastic properties of waste gangue is important as it assists in improving mine designs and reducing the environmental impact on the surface.In this paper,the time-dependent deformation characteristics of gangue under different stress levels were obtained by using lateral confinement compression,that reliably represents the compaction of goaf.The viscoelastic foundation model for gangue mechanical response is different from the traditionally used elastic foundation model,as it considers the time factor and viscoelasticity.A mechanical model using a thin plate on a fractional viscoelastic foundation was established,and the roof deflection,bending moment,time-dependent,viscous and other characteristics of SBM were included and analyzed.Compared with the existing elastic foundation model,the proposed fractional order viscoelastic foundation model has higher accuracy with laboratory data.The plate deflection increases by 50.9%and the bending moment increases by 37.9%after 100 days,which the elastic model would not have been able to predict. | Peng Huang Jixiong Zhang Xingjie Yan Anthony John Spencer Spearing Meng Li Shiwei Liu | 2021 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,2: | 8 |
| 6 | Regression model for civil aero-engine gas path parameter deviation based on deep domainadaptation with Res-BP neural network显示文摘The variations in gas path parameter deviations can fully reflect the healthy state of aeroengine gas path components and units;therefore,airlines usually take them as key parameters for monitoring the aero-engine gas path performance state and conducting fault diagnosis.In the past,the airlines could not obtain deviations autonomously.At present,a data-driven method based on an aero-engine dataset with a large sample size can be utilized to obtain the deviations.However,it is still difficult to utilize aero-engine datasets with small sample sizes to establish regression models for deviations based on deep neural networks.To obtain monitoring autonomy of each aero-engine model,it is crucial to transfer and reuse the relevant knowledge of deviation modelling learned from different aero-engine models.This paper adopts the Residual-Back Propagation Neural Network(Res-BPNN)to deeply extract high-level features and stacks multi-layer Multi-Kernel Maximum Mean Discrepancy(MK-MMD)adaptation layers to map the extracted high-level features to the Reproduce Kernel Hilbert Space(RKHS)for discrepancy measurement.To further reduce the distribution discrepancy of each aero-engine model,the method of maximizing domain-confusion loss based on an adversarial mechanism is introduced to make the features learned from different domains as close as possible,and then the learned features can be confused.Through the above methods,domain-invariant features can be extracted,and the optimal adaptation effect can be achieved.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by using cruise data from different civil aero-engine models and compared with other transfer learning algorithms. | Xingjie ZHOU Xuyun FU Minghang ZHAO Shisheng ZHONG | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,1: | 6 |

| 8 | Nanotechnology-based strategies for treatment of ocular disease显示文摘Ocular diseases include various anterior and posterior segment diseases. Due to the unique anatomy and physiology of the eye, efficient ocular drug delivery is a great challenge to researchers and pharmacologists. Although there are conventional noninvasive and invasive treatments, such as eye drops,injections and implants, the current treatments either suffer from low bioavailability or severe adverse ocular effects. Alternatively, the emerging nanoscience and nanotechnology are playing an important role in the development of novel strategies for ocular disease therapy. Various active molecules have been designed to associate with nanocarriers to overcome ocular barriers and intimately interact with specific ocular tissues. In this review, we highlight the recent attempts of nanotechnology-based systems for imaging and treating ocular diseases, such as corneal d iseases, glaucoma, retina diseases, and choroid diseases. | 10 | Genome editing in Drosophila melanogaster: from basic genome engineering to the multipurpose CRISPR-Cas9 system显示文摘Nowadays, genome editing tools are indispensable for studying gene function in order to increase our knowledge of biochemical processes and disease mechanisms. The extensive availability of mutagenesis and transgenesis tools make Drosophila melanogaster an excellent model organism for geneticists. Early mutagenesis tools relied on chemical or physical methods,ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS) and X-rays respectively, to randomly alter DNA at a nucleotide or chromosomal level. Since the discovery of transposable elements and the availability of the complete fly genome, specific genome editing tools, such as P-elements, zinc-finger nucleases(ZFNs) and transcription activator-like effector nucleases(TALENs), have undergone rapid development. Currently, one of the leading and most effective contemporary tools is the CRISPR-cas9 system made popular because of its low cost, effectiveness, specificity and simplicity of use. | 12 | Strength and deformation behaviors of veined marble specimens after vacuum heat treatment under conventional triaxial compression显示文摘The mechanical behaviors of rocks affected by high temperature and stress are generally believed to be significant for the stability of certain projects involving rocks, such as nuclear waste storage and geothermal resource exploitation. In this paper, veined marble specimens were treated to high temperature treatment and then used in conventional triaxial compression tests to investigate the effect of temperature, confining pressure, and vein angle on strength and deformation behaviors. The results show that the strength and deformation parameters of the veined marble specimens changed with the temperature, presenting a critical temperature of 600℃. The triaxial compression strength of a horizontal vein(β = 90°) is obviously larger than that of a vertical vein(β = 0°). The triaxial compression strength,elasticity modulus, and secant modulus have an approximately linear relation to the confining pressure. | 16 | Individual-tree diameter growth model for Korean pine plantations based on optimized interpolation of meteorological variables显示文摘To explore the influence of meteorological variables on the growth of Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis Sieb.et Zucc.) plantations and provide a scientific reference for the production and management of Korean pine,three approaches to interpolate meteorological variables during the growing season(i.e.,May-September) were compared in Heilongjiang Province,China.Optimized meteorological variable interpolation results were then combined with stand and individual tree variables,based on data from 56 sample plots and 2886 sample trees from Korean pine plantations in two regions of the province to develop an individualtree diameter growth model(Model I) and an individualtree diameter growth model with meteorological variables(Model Ⅱ) using a stepwise regression method.Moreover,an individual-tree diameter growth model with regional effects(Model Ⅲ) was developed using dummy variables in the regression,and the significance of introducing these dummy variables was verified with an F-test statistical analysis.The models were validated using an independent data set,and the predictive performance of the three models was assessed via the adjusted coefficient of determination(R_(a)^(2)) and root mean square error(RMSE).The results suggest that the growth increment in tree diameter of Korean pine plantations was significantly correlated with the natural logarithm of initial diameter(ln D),stand basal area(BAS),logarithmic deformation of the stand density index(ln SDI),ratio of basal area of trees larger than the subject tree to their initial diameter at breast height(DBH)(BAL/D),and the maximum growingseason precipitation(Pgmax).The individual-tree diameter growth models of Korean pine plantations developed in this study will provide a good basis for estimating and predicting growth increments of Korean pine forests over larger areas. | Man Wang Yinghui Zhao Zhen Zhen Xingji Jin | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,4: | 3 |
| 17 | Design and synthesis of novel water-soluble amino acid derivatives of chlorin p6 ethers as photosensitizer显示文摘Eight new water-soluble amino acid conjugates 6 a-h of chlorin p6 ethers(5 a-d) were synthesized and preliminarily investigated for their in vitro PDT antitumor activity and structure-activity relationship(SAR). The results showed that all compounds exhibited much higher phototoxicity against tumor cells than talaporfin. SAR analysis indicated that PDT antitumor effect enhanced with the increase of carbon chain length of alkoxyl ether bonds at 3~1-position, and L-aspartic acid was superior to L-glutamic acid. | 20 | Formation and crystallization behavior of Fe-based amorphous precursors with pre-existingα-Fe nanoparticles-Structure and magnetic properties of high-Cu-content Fe-Si-B-Cu-Nb nanocrystalline alloys显示文摘Structure,crystallization behavior,and magnetic properties of as-quenched and annealed Fe_(81.3)Si_(4)O_(13)Cu_(1.7)(Cu1.7)alloy ribbons and effects of Nb alloying have been studied.Three-dimensional atom probe and transmission electron microscopy analyses reveal that high-number-density Cu-clusters and Pre-existing Nano-sized a-Fe Particles(PN-a-Fe)are coexistence in the melt-spun Cu1.7 amorphous matrix,and the PN-α-Fe form by manners of one-direction adjoining and enveloping the Cu-clusters.Two-step crystallization behavior associated with growth of the PN-a-Fe and subsequent nucleation and growth of newly-formedα-Fe is found in the primary crystallization stage of the Cu1.7 alloy.The number densities of the Cu-clusters and PN-a-Fe in melt-spun Fe8_(1.3-x)Si_(4)B_(13)Cu_(1.7)Nb_(x)alloys are gradually reduced with enriching of Nb,and a fully amorphous structure forms at 4 at.%Nb,although smaller Cu-clusters still exist.After annealing,2 at.%Nb coarsens the average size(D_(α-F)e)of theα-Fe grains from 14.0 nm of the Nb-free alloy to 21.6 nm,and 4 at.%Nb refines the D_(α-Fe)to 8.9 nm.The mechanisms of theα-Fe nucleation and growth during quenching and annealing for the alloys with large quantities of PN-α-Fe as well as after Nb alloying have been discussed,and an annealing-induced oc-Fe growth mechanism in term of the barrier co-contributed by competitive growth among the PN-a-Fe and diffusion-suppression effect of Nb atoms has been proposed.A coercivity(HC)αDα-Fe^(3)correlation has been found for the nanocrystalline alloys,and the permeability is inverse with the H_(C). | Yanhui Li Xingjie Jia Wei Zhang Yan Zhang Guoqiang Xie Zhiyong Qiu Junhua Luan Zengbao Jiao | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,6: | 3 |
