Outline of the Report on Cardiovascular Disease in China,2010显示文摘Major and profound changes have taken place in China over the past 30 years.Rapid socioeconomic progress has exerted a great impact on lifestyle, ranging from food, clothing, working and living conditions, and means of transportation to leisure activities and entertainment. At the same time, new health problems have emerged, and health services are facing new challenges.Presently, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are among the top health problems of the Chinese people, and pose a serious challenge to all engaged in the prevention and control of these diseases. An epidemic of CVD in China is emerging as a result of lifestyle changes, urbanization and longevity. Both national policy decision-making and medical practice urgently need an authoritative report which comprehensively reflects the trends in the epidemic of CVD and current preventive measures.Since 2005,guided by the Bureau of Disease Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China and the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases of China, nationwide experts in the fields of epidemiology, clinical medicine and health economics in the realms of CVD,cerebrovascular disease, diabetes and chronic kidney disease, completed the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China every year. The report aims to provide a timely review of the trend of the epidemic and to assess the progress of prevention and control of CVD.In addition,as the report is authoritative, representative and readable,it will become an information platform in the CVD field and an important reference book for government, academic institutes, medical organizations and clinical physicians. This publication is expected to play a positive role in the prevention and control of CVD in China. We present an abstract from the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China (2010),including trends in CVD,morbidity and mortality of major CVDs,up-to-date assessment of risk factors,as well as health resources for CVD,and a profile of medical expenditure, with the aim of providing evidence for decision-making in CVD prevention and control programs in China, and of delivering the most authoritative information on CVD prevention and control for all citizens. | HUSheng Shou KONG Ling Zhi GAO Run Lin ZHU Man Lu WANG Wen WANG Yong Jun WU Zhao Su CHEN Wei Wei LIU Ming Bo For the editorial board | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3: | 93
A complete sequence and comparative analysis of a SARS-associated virus(Isolate BJ01)显示文摘The genome sequence of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)-associated virus provides essential information for the identification of pathogen(s), exploration of etiology and evolution, interpretation of transmission and pathogenesis, development of diagnostics, prevention by future vaccination, and treatment by developing new drugs. We report the complete genome sequence and comparative analysis of an isolate (BJ01) of the coronavirus that has been recognized as a pathogen for SARS. The genome is 29725 nt in size and has 11 ORFs (Open Reading Frames). It is composed of a stable region encoding an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (composed of 2 ORFs) and a variable region representing 4 CDSs (coding sequences) for viral structural genes (the S, E, M, N proteins) and 5 PUPs (putative uncharacterized proteins). Its gene order is identical to that of other known coronaviruses. The sequence alignment with all known RNA viruses places this virus as a member in the family of Coronaviridae. Thirty putative substitutions have been identified by comparative analysis of the 5 SARS- associated virus genome sequences in GenBank. Fifteen of them lead to possible amino acid changes (non-synonymous mutations) in the proteins. Three amino acid changes, with predicted alteration of physical and chemical features, have been detected in the S protein that is postulated to beinvolved in the immunoreactions between the virus and its host. Two amino acid changes have been detected in the Mprotein, which could be related to viral envelope formation. Phylogenetic analysis suggests the possibility of non-human origin of the SARS-associated viruses but provides noevidence that they are man-made. Further efforts should focus on identifying the etiology of the SARS-associated virus and ruling out conclusively the existence of otherpossible SARS-related pathogen(s). | QIN E'de ZHU Qingyu YU Man FAN Baochang CHANG Guohui SI Bingyin YANG Bao PENG Wenming JIANG Tao LIU Bohua DENG Yongqiang LIU Hong ZHANG Yu WANG Cui LI Yuquan GAN Yonghua LI Xiaoyu L Fushuang TAN Gang CAO Wuchun, YANG Ruifu Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, Chinese Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing 100071, China WANG Jian, LI Wei, XU Zuyuan, LI Yan, WU Qingfa, LIN Wei, CHEN Weijun, TANG Lin, DENG Yajun, HAN Yujun, LI Changfeng, LEI Meng, LI Guoqing, LI Wenjie, L Hong, SHI Jianping, TONG Zongzhong, ZHANG Feng, LI Songgang, LIU Bin, LIU Siqi, DONG Wei, WANG Jun, Gane K-S Wong, YU Jun & YANG Huanming* Beijing Genomics Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 101300 National Center for Genome Information, Beijing 101300, China | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,10: | 121
Immune mechanisms of Concanavalin A model of autoimmune hepatitis显示文摘As a chronic inflammatory disease of the liver, the pathogenic mechanisms of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) have not yet been elucidated, with prognosis and diagnosis remaining unsatisfied.Currently the only viable treatments of AIH are immunosuppressant application and liver transplantation. It is considered that lack of good animal AIH models is the main reason for the shortage of a simple and efficient cure. The Concanavalin A (Con A) model is a typical and well established model for investigating T-cell and macrophage dependent liver injury in mice, which closely mimics the pathogenesis mechanisms and pathological changes of patients, and is regarded as the best experimental model for AIH research so far.In this paper we eluci-dated the pathogenic mechanisms of AIH and the evolution of relative animal models. We go on to further focus on Con A-induced liver injury from the point of immunological mechanisms and the change of cytokine levels. Finally,we manifested the clinical significance of the AIH animal models and the challenges they would meet during their future development. | Hai-Xia Wang Man Liu Shun-Yan Weng Jing-Jing Li Chao Xie Hong-Lin He Wen Guan Yun-Sheng Yuan Jin Gao | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,2: | 52

Blood Lipid Profile and Prevalence of Dyslipidemia in Chinese Adults显示文摘Objective To investigate the plasma lipid levels in a national representative sample of subjects and to determine the prevalence of dyslipidemia in the Chinese population. Methods Plasma lipid profile was analyzed using the data obtained during the Chinese national nutrition and health survey(CNHS)in 2002 which involved 14 252 participants at the age of 18 years or older. Results The mean levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG)and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)in the participants were 3.81 mmol/L,1.10 mmol/L,and 1.30 mmol/L,respectively.In the groups of participants at the age of 18-44 years,45-59 years, and over 60 years the mean TC level was 3.70 mmol/L,4.09 mmol/L and 4.21 mmol/L,respectively,and the mean TG level was 07 mmol/L,1.21 mmol/L,1.20 mmol/L,1.29 mmol/L,1.33 mmol/L,and 1.33 mmol/L,respectively.The prevalence of dyslipidemia in Chinese adults was 18.6% and 22.2% in males and 15.9% in females.Dyslipidemia prevalence was higher in urban districts than in rural areas(21.0% vs.17.7%).The prevalence of hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and low HDL cholesterol was 2.9%,11.9%,and 7.4% respectively among the participants. Conclusion Dyslipidemia has become one of the important health risk factors in the Chinese population. There is no significantly difference in the prevalence of dyslipidemia between the groups of participants at the age of 45-59 years and over 60 years. This study provides important lipid profile data for policy making and guideline development for the prevention of dyslipidemia in the Chinese population. | WEN-HUA ZHAO JIAN ZHANG YI ZHAI YUE YOU QING-QING MAN CHUN-RONG WANG HONG LI YING LI XIAO-GUANG YANG | 2007 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2007,20,4: | 22
Size distribution of chemical elements and their source apportionment in ambient coarse, fine, and ultrafine particles in Shanghai urban summer atmosphere显示文摘Ambient coarse particles (diameter 1.8-10 μm), fine particles (diameter 0.1-1.8 μm), and ultrafine particles (diameter < 0.1 μm) in the atmosphere of the city of Shanghai were sampled during the summer of 2008 (from Aug 27 to Sep 08). Microscopic characterization of the particles was investigated by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX). Mass concentrations of Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, and Pb in the size-resolved particles were quantified by using synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence (SRXRF). Source apportionment of the chemical elements was analyzed by means of an enrichment factor method. Our results showed that the average mass concentrations of coarse particles, fine particles and ultrafine particles in the summer air were 9.38 ± 2.18, 8.82 ± 3.52, and 2.02 ± 0.41 μg/m3, respectively. The mass percentage of the fine particles accounted for 51.47% in the total mass of PM10, indicating that fine particles are the major component in the Shanghai ambient particles. SEM/EDX results showed that the coarse particles were dominated by minerals, fine particles by soot aggregates and fly ashes, and ultrafine particles by soot particles and unidentified particles. SRXRF results demonstrated that crustal elements were mainly distributed in the coarse particles, while heavy metals were in higher proportions in the fine particles. Source apportionment revealed that Si, K, Ca, Fe, Mn, Rb, and Sr were from crustal sources, and S, Cl, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, and Pb from anthropogenic sources. Levels of P, V, Cr, and Ni in particles might be contributed from multi-sources, and need further investigation. | Senlin Lu Rui Zhang Zhenkun Yao Fei Yi Jingjing Ren Minghong Wu Man Feng Qingyue Wang | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,5: | 22

Atomically dispersed Au_1 catalyst towards efficient electrochemical synthesis of ammonia显示文摘Tremendous efforts have been devoted to explore energy-efficient strategies of ammonia synthesis to replace Haber–Bosch process which accounts for 1.4% of the annual energy consumption. In this study, atomically dispersed Au_1 catalyst is synthesized and applied in electrochemical synthesis of ammonia under ambient conditions. A high NH_4^+ Faradaic efficiency of 11.1% achieved by our Au_1 catalyst surpasses most of reported catalysts under comparable conditions. Benefiting from efficient atom utilization, an NH_4^+ yield rate of 1,305 lg h^(-1) mg_(Au)^(-1) has been reached, which is roughly 22.5 times as high as that by supported Au nanoparticles. We also demonstrate that by employing our Au_1 catalyst, NH4+can be electrochemically produced directly from N_2 and H_2 with an energy utilization rate of 4.02 mmol kJ^(-1). Our study provides a possibility of replacing the Haber–Bosch process with environmentally benign and energy-efficient electrochemical strategies. | Xiaoqian Wang Wenyu Wang Man Qiao Geng Wu Wenxing Chen Tongwei Yuan Qian Xu Min Chen Yan Zhang Xin Wang Jing Wang Jingjie Ge Xun Hong Yafei Li Yuen Wu Yadong Li | 2018 | Science Bulletin2018,63,19: | 22
Cycloastragenol upregulates SIRT1 expression, attenuates apoptosis and suppresses neuroinflammation after brain ischemia显示文摘Cycloastragenol(CAG)is the active form of astragaloside V isolated from Astragalus Radix, which displays multiple pharmacological effects.Silent information regulator 1(SIRT1),a classll histone deacetylase, has been shown to play an important role in neuroprotection against cerebral ischemia. In this study,we investigated whether CAG protected against ischemic brain injury and,if so,whether the beneficial effects were associated with the regulation of SIRT1 in the ischemic brain.Mice were subjected to 45 min of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)followed by reperfusion.CAG(5,10,20 mg/kg)was injected intraperitoneally at the onset of reperfusion,12h later and then twice daily for up to three days.CAG dose-dependently reduced brain infarct volume, significantly ameliorated functional deficits, and prevented neuronal cell oss in MCAO mice.Meanwhile,CAG signicantly reduced matrix metalloproteinase-9 activity, prevented tight junction degradation and subsequently ameliorated blood-brain barier disruption. Moreover,CAG significantly upregulated SIRT1 expression in the ischemic brain but did not directly activate its enzymatic activity.Concomitant with SIRT1 upregulation,CAG reduced p53 acetylation and the ratio of Bax to Bcl-2 in the ischemic brain.CAG also inhibited NF-κB p65 nuclear translocation. As a result,CAG suppressed the mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and IL-1β,and inhibited the activation of microglia and astrocytes in the ischemic brain. Our findings suggest that CAG is neuroprotective against ischemic brain injury in mice and that its beneficial effect may involve SIRT1 upregulation and the inhibition of apoptosis and neuroinflammation in the ischemic brain. | Man Li Shichun Li Bao-kai Dou Yving-xiang Zou Hao-zhen Han Dong-xiang Liu Zunji Ke Zhi-fei Wang | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,8: | 22
Acute cerebrovascular disease following COVID-19: a single center, retrospective, observational study显示文摘Background and purpose COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Apart from respiratory complications, acute cerebrovascular disease(CVD)has been observed in some patients with COVID-19.Therefore,we described the clinical characteristics, laboratory features, treatment and outcomes of CVD complicating SARS-CoV-2 infection.Materials and methods Demographic and clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, treatments and clinical outcomes were collected and analysed.Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of patients with COVID-19 with or without new-onset CVD were compared. Results Of 219 patients with COVID-19,10(4.6%)developed acute ischaemic stroke and 1(0.5%)had intracerebral haemorrhage.COVID-19 with new onset of CVD were significantly older(75.7±10.8 years vs 52.1±15.3 years,p<0.001),more likely to present with severe COVID-19(81.8%vs 39.9%,p<0.01)and were more likely to have cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, diabetes and medical history of CVD(all p<0.05).In addition, they were more likely to have increased inflammatory response and hypercoagulable state as reflected in C reactive protein(51.1(1.3-127.9)vs 12.1(0.1-212.0)mg/L,p<0.05)and D-dimer(6.9(0.3-20.0)vs 0.5(0.1-20.0)mg/L,p<0.001).Of 10 patients with ischemic stroke;6 received antiplatelet treatment with aspirin or clopidogrel;and 3 of them died. The other four patients received anticoagulant treatment with enoxaparin and 2 of them died.As of 24 March 2020,six patients with CVD died(54.5%).Conclusion Acute CVD is not uncommon in COVID-19.Our findings suggest that older patients with risk factors are more likely to develop CVD.The development of CVD is an important negative prognostic factor which requires further study to identify optimal management strategy to combat the COVID-19 outbreak. | Yanan Li Man Li Mengdie Wang Yifan Zhou Jiang Chang Ying Xian David Wang Ling Mao Huijuan Jin Bo Hu | 2020 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3: | 22

Special Section:SARS-CoV-2 Preliminary evidence from a multicenter prospective observational study of the safety and efficacy of chloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19显示文摘Effective therapies are urgently needed for the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.Chloroquine has been proved to have antiviral effect against coronavirus in vitro. In this study,we aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of chloroquine with different doses in COVID-19.In this multicenter prospective observational study,we enrolled patients older than 18 years old with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection excluding critical cases from 12 hospitals in Guangdong and Hubei Provinces.Eligible patients received chloroquinephosphate s00 mg,orally, once(half dose)or twice(full dose)daily.Patients treated with non-chloroquine therapy were included as historical controls. The primary endpoint is the time to undetectable viral RNA.Secondary outcomes include the proportion of patients with undetectable viral RNA by day 10 and 14,hospitalization time, duration of fever, and adverse events.A total of 197 patients completed chloroquine treatment, and 176patients were included as historical controls. The median time to achieve an undetectable viral RNA was shorter in chloroquine than in non-chloroquine(absolute difference in medians-6.0 days;95%CI-6.0 to—4.0).The duration of fever is shorter in chloroquine(geometric mean ratio 0.6;95%CIO.5 to 0.8).No serious adverse events were observed in the chloroquine group.Patients treated with half dose experienced lower rate of adverse events than with full dose.Although randomized trials are needed for further evaluation, this study provides evidence for safety and efficacy of chloroquine in COVID-19 and suggests that chloroquine can be a cost-effective therapy for combating the COVID-19 pandemic. | Mingxing Huang Man Li Fei Xiao Pengfei Pang Jiabi Liang Tiantian Tang Shaoxuan Liu Binghui Chen Jingxian Shu Yingying You Yang Li Meiwen Tang Jianhui Zhou Guanmin Jiang Jingfen Xiang Wenxin Hong Songmei He Zhaoqin Wang Jianhua Feng Changqing Lin Yinong Ye Zhilong Wu Yaocai Li Bei Zhong Ruilin Sun Zhongsi Hong Jing Liu Huili Chen Xiaohua Wang Zhonghe Li Duanqing Pei Lin Tian Jinyu Xia Shanping Jiang Nanshan Zhong Hong Shan | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,9: | 20
Plasma miR-216a as a potential marker of pancreatic injury in a rat model of acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM:To study the potential value and specificity of plasma miR-216a as a marker for pancreatic injury.METHODS:Two rat models were applied in this article:L-arginine-induced acute pancreatitis was used as one model to explore the potential value of plasma miR-216a for detection of pancreatic injury;nonlethal sepsis induced in rats by single puncture cecal ligation and puncture(CLP)was used as the other model to evaluate the specificity of plasma miR-216a compared with twocommonly used markers(amylase and lipase)for acute pancreatitis.Plasmas were sampled from rats at indicated time points and total RNA was isolated.Real-Time Quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction was used to quantify miR-216a in plasmas.RESULTS:In the acute pancreatitis model, among five time points at which plasmas were sampled,miR-216a concentrations were significantly elevated 24 h after arginine administration and remained significantly increased until 48 h after operation(compared with 0 h time point,P<0.01,Kruskal-Wallis Test). In the CLP model, plasma amylase and lipase, two commonly used biomarkers for acute pancreatitis, were significantly elevated 24 h after operation(compared with 0 h time point,P<0.01 and 0.05 respectively,Pairwise Bonferroni corrected ttests),while miR-216a remained undetectable among four tested time points.CONCLUSION:Our article showed for the first time that plasma miR-216a might serve as a candidate marker of pancreatic injury with novel specificity. | Xiang-Yu Kong,Yi-Qi Du,Lei Li,Xiao-Hua Man,Yan-Fang Gong,Li-Ning Xiao,Yong-Zhi Zheng,Shang-Xin Deng,Jun-Jun Gu,Zhao-Shen Li,Department of Gastroenterology,Changhai Hospital,Second Military Medical University,Shang-hai 200433,China Jian-Qiang Liu,Department of Gastroenterology,Fuzhou General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command,Fuzhou 350025,Fujian Province,China Guo-Kun Wang,Jia-Qi Zhu,Department of Cardiology,Changhai Hospital,Second Military Medical University,Shang-hai 200433,China | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,36: | 19
Phase 1 clinical trial demonstrated that MUC1 positive metastatic seminal vesicle cancer can be effectively eradicated by modified Anti-MUC1 chimeric antigen receptor transduced T cells显示文摘Recent progress in chimeric antigen receptor-modified T-cell(CAR-T cell) technology in cancer therapy is extremely promising, especially in the treatment of patients with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In contrast, due to the hostile immunosuppressive microenvironment of a solid tumor, CAR T-cell accessibility and survival continue to pose a considerable challenge, which leads to their limited therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we constructed two anti-MUC1 CAR-T cell lines. One set of CAR-T cells contained SM3 single chain variable fragment(sc Fv) sequence specifically targeting the MUC1 antigen and co-expressing interleukin(IL) 12(named SM3-CAR). The other CAR-T cell line carried the SM3 sc Fv sequence modified to improve its binding to MUC1 antigen(named p SM3-CAR) but did not co-express IL-12. When those two types of CAR-T cells were injected intratumorally into two independent metastatic lesions of the same MUC1+ seminal vesicle cancer patient as part of an interventional treatment strategy, the initial results indicated no side-effects of the MUC1 targeting CAR-T cell approach, and patient serum cytokines responses were positive. Further evaluation showed that p SM3-CAR effectively caused tumor necrosis, providing new options for improved CAR-T therapy in solid tumors. | Fengtao You Licui Jiang Bozhen Zhang Qiang Lu Qiao Zhou Xiaoyang Liao Hong Wu Kaiqi Du Youcai Zhu Huimin Meng Zhishu Gong Yunhui Zong Lei Huang Man Lu Jirong Tang Yafen Li Xiaochen Zhai Xiangling Wang Sisi Ye Dan Chen Lei Yuan Lin Qi Lin Yang | 2016 | Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,4: | 16
High precision landing site mapping and rover localization for Chang'e-3 mission显示文摘This paper presents the comprehensive results of landing site topographic mapping and rover localization in Chang’e-3 mission.High-precision topographic products of the landing site with extremely high resolutions(up to 0.05 m)were generated from descent images and registered to CE-2 DOM.Local DEM and DOM with 0.02 m resolution were produced routinely at each waypoint along the rover traverse. The lander location was determined to be(19.51256°W,44.11884°N,-2615.451 m)using a method of DOM matching. In order to reduce error accumulation caused by wheel slippage and IMU drift in dead reckoning,cross-site visual localization and DOM matching localization methods were developed to localize the rover at waypoints;the overall traveled distance from the lander is 114.8 m from cross-site visual localization and 111.2 m from DOM matching localization. The latter is of highest accuracy and has been verified using a LRO NAC image where the rover trajeactory is directly identifiable.During CE-3 mission operations, landing site mapping and rover localization products including DEMs and DOMs,traverse maps, vertical traverse profiles were generated timely to support teleoperation tasks such as obstacle avoidance and rover path planning. | LIU ZhaoQin DI KaiChang PENG Man WAN WenHui LIU Bin LI LiChun YU TianYi WANG BaoFeng ZHOU JianLiang CHEN HongMin | 2015 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2015,58,1: | 15
Integration of lipidomics and metabolomics for in-depth understanding of cellular mechanism and disease progression显示文摘Mass spectrometry(MS)-based omics technologies are now widely used to profile small molecules in multiple matrices to confer comprehensive snapshots of cellular metabolic phenotypes. The metabolomes of cells, tissues, and organisms comprise a variety of molecules including lipids, amino acids, sugars, organic acids, and so on.Metabolomics mainly focus on the hydrophilic classes, while lipidomics has emerged as an independent omics owing to the complexities of the organismal lipidomes. The potential roles of lipids and small metabolites in disease pathogenesis have been widely investigated in various human diseases, but system-level understanding is largely lacking, which could be partly attributed to the insufficiency in terms of metabolite coverage and quantitation accuracy in current analytical technologies. While scientists are continuously striving to develop high-coverage omics approaches, integration of metabolomics and lipidomics is becoming an emerging approach to mechanistic investigation.Integration of metabolome and lipidome offers a complete atlas of the metabolic landscape, enabling comprehensive network analysis to identify critical metabolic drivers in disease pathology, facilitating the study of interconnection between lipids and other metabolites in disease progression. In this review,we summarize omics-based findings on the roles of lipids and metabolites in the pathogenesis of selected major diseases threatening public health. We also discuss the advantages of integrating lipidomics and metabolomics for in-depth understanding of molecular mechanism in disease pathogenesis. | Raoxu Wang Bowen Li Sin Man Lam Guanghou Shui | 2020 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2020,47,2: | 15
Association of Helicobacter pylori infection with colorectal polyps and malignancy in China显示文摘BACKGROUND Gastric Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection is related to chronic gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer, and gastric malignancies;whether this infection is related to colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer(CRC),remains debatable.AIM To investigate the relationship between gastric H.pylori infection and the risk of colorectal polyps and CRC.METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 3872 patients with colorectal polyps who underwent colonoscopy and pathological diagnosis. We also analyzed 304 patients with primary CRC.The characteristics of these patients were compared with those of the control group, which included 2362 patients with the normal intestinal mucosa. All subjects completed a 14C-urea breath test, bidirectional gastrointestinal endoscopy, and a biopsy on the same day.Data on the number, size, location, and pathology of the polyps, the location, and pathology of the CRC,the detection of H.pylori, and the incidence of H.pylori-associated atrophic gastritis or intestinal metaplasia were obtained.A logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between gastric infection due to H.pylori, and the incidence of colorectal polyps and CRC.RESULTS The prevalence of H.pylori infection was higher in the multiple polyps group than in the solitary polyp group and the control group[95%confidence interval(CI)=1.02-1.31,P=0.03;95%CI:2.12-2.74,P<0.001].The patients with adenomatous polyps had a higher incidence of H.pylori infection than patients with non-adenomatous polyps[59.95%vs 51.75%,adjusted odds ratio(OR)=1.41,95%CI:1.24-1.60,P<0.01].Patients with H.pylori-associated atrophic gastritis or intestinal metaplasia were at high risk of CRC(adjusted OR=3.46,95%CI:2.63-4.55,P<0.01;adjusted OR=4.86,95%CI:3.22-7.34,P<0.01,respectively).The size and location of the polyps, the histopathological characteristics and the location of CRC were not related to H.pylori infection.CONCLUSION Our study demonstrates that the incidence of gastric H.pylori infection and H.pylori-associated atrophic gastritis or intestinal metaplasia elevates the risk of colorectal polyps and CRC. | Man Wang Wen-Jie Kong Jing-Zhan Zhang Jia-Jie Lu Wen-Jia Hui Wei-Dong Liu Xiao-Jing Kang Feng Gao | 2020 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2020,12,5: | 15
