1Regional assessment of cadmium pollution in agricultural lands and the potential health risk related to intensive mining activities: A case study in Chenzhou City, China显示文摘The purpose of this study was to assess the extent of cadmium (Cd) contamination in agricultural soil and its potential risk for people. Soils, rice, and vegetables from Chenzhou City, Southern China were sampled and analyzed. In the surface soils, the 95% confidence interval for the mean concentration of Cd varied between 2.72 and 4.83 mg/kg (P < 0.05) in the survey, with a geometric mean concentration of 1.45 mg/kg. Based on the GIS map, two hot spot areas of Cd in agricultural soils with high Cd concentrations were identified to be located around the Shizhuyuan, Jinshiling, and Yaogangxian mines, and the Baoshan and Huangshaping mines, in the center of the city. About 60% of the total investigated area, where the agricultural soil Cd concentration is above 1 mg/kg, is distributed in a central belt across the region. The critical distances, at which the soil Cd concentration were increased by the mining activities, from the mines of the soils were 23 km for the Baoshan mine, 46 km for the Huangshaping mine, and 63 km for the Shizhuyuan mine, respectively. These are distances calculated from models. The Cd concentrations in rice samples ranged from 0.01 to 4.43 mg/kg and the mean dietary Cd intake from rice for an adult was 191 μg/d. 3Therapeutic effect of acupuncture and massage for shoulder-hand syndrome in hemiplegia patients:a clinical two-center randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and massage for shoulder-hand syndrome in hemiplegia patients.METHODS:One hundred and twenty hemiplegia patients with stage I shoulder-hand syndrome were randomly divided into a group treated with standardized electric acupuncture and massage,and a group treated with rehabilitation therapy for 6 weeks.The primary indices evaluated were pain on passive movement of the shoulder using the numeric pain rating scale(NPRS),and the number of patients with shoulder-hand syndrome at Steinbrocker stage II or III after treatment.The secondary indices were Fugl-Meyer evaluation of functional movement of the upper limb and hand using the modified rankin scale(MRS).RESULTS:At post-treatment evaluation and a 12-week follow-up visit,NPRS score,number of patients with stage II or III shoulder-hand syndrome,and MRS score were all improved in the acupuncture-massage group compared with the rehabilitation group(P<0.05).On Fugl-Meyer evaluation,functional movement of the upper limb was also improved in the acupuncture-massage group compared with the rehabilitation group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Standardized acupuncture-massage therapy may have curative effects on shoulder-hand syndrome in hemiplegia patients.Ning Li Fengwei Tian Chengwei Wang Pengming Yu Xi Zhou Qian Wen Xiulan Qiao Lu Huang 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:25
4Removal of heavy metals and arsenic from a co-contaminated soil by sieving combined with washing process显示文摘Batch experiments were conducted with a heavy metals and arsenic co-contaminated soil from an abandoned mine to evaluate the feasibility of a remediation technology that combines sieving with soil washing.Leaching of the arsenic and heavy metals from the different particle size fractions was found to decrease in the order:< 0.1,2–0.1,and > 2 mm.With increased contact time,the concentration of heavy metals in the leachate was significantly decreased for small particles,probably because of adsorption by the clay soil component.For the different particle sizes,the removal efficiencies for Pb and Cd were75%–87%,and 61%–77% for Zn and Cu,although the extent of removal was decreased for As and Cr at < 45%.The highest efficiency by washing for Pb,Cd,Zn,and As was from the soil particles > 2 mm,although good metal removal efficiencies were also achieved in the small particle size fractions.Through SEM-EDS observations and correlation analysis,the leaching regularity of the heavy metals and arsenic was found to be closely related to Fe,Mn,and Ca contents of the soil fractions.The remediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil by sieving combined with soil washing was proven to be efficient,and practical remediation parameters were also recommended.Xiaoyong Liao You Li Xiulan Yan 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:19
5Human Driving Forces:Analysis of Rocky Desertification in Karst Region in Guanling County,Guizhou Province显示文摘Karst rocky desertification is one of the major ecological and environmental problems that threaten the sustainable development of southwestern China. It is caused by irrational and intensive land-use patterns in karst geo-ecological environment. Therefore, it is vital to identify how human forces work on this degraded environment. Based on the soil erosion information in 2000 and remote sensing images of Guanling County collected in 2000 and 2007, four grades of karst rocky desertification data in 14 villages of Guanling County were extracted. Impacts of population, affluence, and other human forces on karst rocky desertification were analyzed using STIRPAT model. The results show that:1) Factors of population and affluence had strong influence on karst rocky desertification. In the STIRPAT model analysis, the population and affluence coefficients were positive, indicating that the increase in population and affluence would lead to more serious desertification. 2) Factors of farmer correlated with karst rocky desertification negatively, especially the way of viewing the relationship between people and nature, and the level of knowledge about rocky desertification. 7Subcellular distribution and compartmentalization of arsenic in Pteris vittata L.显示文摘The subcellular distribution of arsenic (As) in Pteris vittata L., an As-hyperaccumulator, was studied to de- termine As compartmentalization and to explore the mecha- nisms that confer As tolerance. When the plant was grown in a nutrient solution without additional As, most of the accu- mulated As was isolated to the cell wall. However, in plants growing in a nutrient solution containing 0.1 or 0.2 mmol/L As, approximately 78% of the total As accumulated within the pinna. The proportions of As accumulation in the cyto- plasmic supernatant fraction were 78% of that in the pinna and 61% of that in the plant. In either treatment group (0.1 or 0.2 mmol/L As), the fraction containing the lowest level of As was the organelle fraction. These results suggest that As accumulates in the pinna where it is primarily distributed in the cytoplasmic supernatant fraction. 8The Clinical Outcomes of Three Surgical Managements on Primary Angle-closure Glaucoma显示文摘Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of trabeculectomy, phacotrabeculectomy and phaco-emulsification in the management of primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG). Methods: A prospective observational study was performed in 88 chronic PACG patients (97 eyes) who were divided into three groups following defined indications to receive different surgical interventions. The indications and clinical outcomes were evaluated. The mean follow-up was (17.7±4.9) months. Results: Success rate in trabeculectomy, phacotrabeculectomy and phacoemulsification group was 81.08%, 78.57‰ and 81.25‰, respectively. The anterior chamber depth was deeper and the angle was wider postoperatively vs. preoperatively both in phaco-trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification group. No obvious changes were seen in trabeculectomy group. The coefficient of outflow facility of aqueous humor (C values) significantly increased in three groups postoperatively (P < 0.01). No severe intra-operative complications were found and the incidence of postoperative complications was low. Five eyes sustained hypotony 3±1.87 months in trabeculectomy group and 1 eye happened malignant glaucoma in phacotrabeculectomy group. The visual acuity in patients with phacotrabeculectomy plus intraocular lens implantation and those only with phacoemulsification plus intraocular lens implantation were improved 78.57% and 93.74%, respectively. No significant improvement was found in trabeculectomy group (χ2 = 47.10, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Three surgical interventions were beneficial to manage PACG and with co-existing cataract. The indication choosing was suggested according to visual acuity, angle closure circumference, cataract, medication requirements and optic nerve damage. 9Heavy Metal Runoff in Relation to Soil Characteristics显示文摘Cu, Zn, Pb and Hg runoff from yellow limestone soil and purple soils and the relationships between the mobility of the heavy metals and the soil characteristics were studied in laboratory using a rainfall simulator. The results showed that the concentrations of soluble Zn in surface runoff were significantly negatively correlated with the contents of <0.002 mm particles and CEC of the soils, indicating that Zn was mostly adsorbed by clays in the soils. The contents of Cu and Hg in surface runoff were positively related to their contents in the soils. 12Accurate Evaluation of Free-form Surface Profile Error Based on Quasi Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Surface Subdivision显示文摘Although significant progress has been made in precision machining of free-form surfaces recently, inspection of such surfaces remains a difficult problem. In order to solve the problem that no specific standards for the verification of free-form surface profile are available, the profile parameters of free-form surface are proposed by referring to ISO standards regarding form tolerances and considering its complexity and non-rotational symmetry. Non-uniform rational basis spline(NURBS) for describing free-form surface is formulated. Crucial issues in surface inspection and profile error verification are localization between the design coordinate system(DCS) and measurement coordinate system(MCS) for searching the closest points on the design model corresponding to measured points. A quasi particle swarm optimization(QPSO) is proposed to search the transformation parameters to implement localization between DCS and MCS. Surface subdivide method which does the searching in a recursively reduced range of the parameters u and v of the NURBS design model is developed to find the closest points. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods, the design model is generated by NURBS and the measurement data of simulation example are generated by transforming the design model to arbitrary position and orientation, and the parts are machined based on the design model and are measured on CMM. The profile errors of simulation example and actual parts are calculated by the proposed method. The results verify that the evaluation precision of freeform surface profile error by the proposed method is higher 10%-22% than that by CMM software. 15Measurement Uncertainty Evaluation of Conicity Error Inspected on CMM显示文摘The cone is widely used in mechanical design for rotation, centering and fixing. Whether the conicity error can be measured and evaluated accurately will directly influence its assembly accuracy and working performance. According to the new generation geometrical product specification(GPS), the error and its measurement uncertainty should be evaluated together. The mathematical model of the minimum zone conicity error is established and an improved immune evolutionary algorithm(IIEA) is proposed to search for the conicity error. In the IIEA, initial antibodies are firstly generated by using quasi-random sequences and two kinds of affinities are calculated. Then, each antibody clone is generated and they are self-adaptively mutated so as to maintain diversity. Similar antibody is suppressed and new random antibody is generated. Because the mathematical model of conicity error is strongly nonlinear and the input quantities are not independent, it is difficult to use Guide to the expression of uncertainty in the measurement(GUM) method to evaluate measurement uncertainty. Adaptive Monte Carlo method(AMCM) is proposed to estimate measurement uncertainty in which the number of Monte Carlo trials is selected adaptively and the quality of the numerical results is directly controlled. The cone parts was machined on lathe CK6140 and measured on Miracle NC 454 Coordinate Measuring Machine(CMM). The experiment results confirm that the proposed method not only can search for the approximate solution of the minimum zone conicity error(MZCE) rapidly and precisely, but also can evaluate measurement uncertainty and give control variables with an expected numerical tolerance. 16Monte Carlo Method for the Uncertainty Evaluation of Spatial Straightness Error Based on New Generation Geometrical Product Specification显示文摘Straightness error is an important parameter in measuring high-precision shafts. New generation geometrical product specification(GPS) requires the measurement uncertainty characterizing the reliability of the results should be given together when the measurement result is given. Nowadays most researches on straightness focus on error calculation and only several research projects evaluate the measurement uncertainty based on 'The Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement(GUM)'. In order to compute spatial straightness error(SSE) accurately and rapidly and overcome the limitations of GUM, a quasi particle swarm optimization(QPSO) is proposed to solve the minimum zone SSE and Monte Carlo Method(MCM) is developed to estimate the measurement uncertainty. The mathematical model of minimum zone SSE is formulated. In QPSO quasi-random sequences are applied to the generation of the initial position and velocity of particles and their velocities are modified by the constriction factor approach. The flow of measurement uncertainty evaluation based on MCM is proposed, where the heart is repeatedly sampling from the probability density function(PDF) for every input quantity and evaluating the model in each case. The minimum zone SSE of a shaft measured on a Coordinate Measuring Machine(CMM) is calculated by QPSO and the measurement uncertainty is evaluated by MCM on the basis of analyzing the uncertainty contributors. The results show that the uncertainty directly influences the product judgment result. Therefore it is scientific and reasonable to consider the influence of the uncertainty in judging whether the parts are accepted or rejected, especially for those located in the uncertainty zone. 18Dynamic behaviors of cavitation bubble for the steady cavitating flow显示文摘In this paper, by introducing the flow velocity item into the classical Rayleigh-Plesset dynamic equation, a newequation, which does not involve the time term and can describe the motion of cavitation bubble in the steadycavitating flow, has been obtained. By solving the new motion equation using Runge-Kutta fourth order methodwith adaptive step size control, the dynamic behaviors of cavitation bubble driven by the varying pressure fielddownstream of a venturi cavitation reactor are numerically simulated. The effects of liquid temperature (correspondingto the saturated vapor pressure of liquid), cavitation number and inlet pressure of venturi on radial motionof bubble and pressure pulse due to the radial motion are analyzed and discussed in detail. Some dynamicbehaviors of bubble different from those in previous papers are displayed. In addition, the internal relationshipbetween bubble dynamics and process intensification is also discussed. 19Effect of Transition Metals (Cu, Co and Fe) on the Autothermal Reforming of Methane over Ni/Ce_(0.2)Zr_(0.1)Al_(0.7)O_δ Catalyst显示文摘The transition metals (Cu, Co, and Fe) were applied to modify Ni/Ce0.2Zr0.1 Al0.7Oδcatalyst. The effects of transition metals on the catalytic properties of Ni/Ce0.2Zr0.1 Al0.7Oδautothermal reforming of methane were investigated. The Ni-supported catalysts were characterized by XRD, TPR and XPS. Tests in autothermal reforming of methane to hydrogen showed that the addition of transition metals (Cu and Co) significantly increased the activity of catalyst under the conditions of lower reaction temperature, and Ni/Cu0.05Ce0.2Zr0.1Al0.65Oδwas found to have the highest conversion of CH4 among all catalysts in the operation temperatures ranging from 923 K to 1023 K. TPR, XRD and XPS measurements indicated that the cubic phases of CexZr1-xO2 solid solution were formed in the preparation process of catalysts. Strong interaction was found to exist between NiO and CexZr1-xO2 solid solution. 20Characteristics of volatile compounds removal in biogas slurry of pig manure by ozone oxidation and organic solvents extraction显示文摘Biogas slurry is not suitable for liquid fertilizer due to its high amounts of volatile materials being of complicated composition and peculiar smell. In order to remove volatiles from biogas slurry efficiently, the dynamic headspace and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry were used to clear the composition of volatiles. Nitrogen stripping and superfluous ozone were also used to remove volatiles from biogas slurry. The results showed that there were 21 kinds of volatile compounds in the biogas slurry, including sulfur compounds, organic amines, benzene, halogen generation of hydrocarbons and alkanes, some of which had strong peculiar smell. The volatile compounds in biogas slurry can be removed with the rate of 53.0% by nitrogen stripping and with rate of 81.7% by the oxidization and stripping of the superfluous ozone. On this basis, the removal rate of the volatile compounds reached 99.2% by chloroform and n-hexane extraction, and almost all of odor was eliminated.
