| 1 | Global blue carbon accumulation in tidal wetlands increases with climate change显示文摘Coastal tidal wetlands produce and accumulate significant amounts of organic carbon(C)that help to mitigate climate change.However,previous data limitations have prevented a robust evaluation of the global rates and mechanisms driving C accumulation.Here,we go beyond recent soil C stock estimates to reveal global tidal wetland C accumulation and predict changes under relative sea level rise,temperature and precipitation.We use data from literature study sites and our new observations spanning wide latitudinal gradients and 20 countries.Globally,tidal wetlands accumulate 53.65(95%CI:48.52-59.01)Tg C yr^(-1),which is~30%of the organic C buried on the ocean floor.Modeling based on current climatic drivers and under projected emissions scenarios revealed a net increase in the global C accumulation by2100.This rapid increase is driven by sea level rise in tidal marshes,and higher temperature and precipitation in mangroves.Countries with large areas of coastal wetlands,like Indonesia and Mexico,are more susceptible to tidal wetland C losses under climate change,while regions such as Australia,Brazil,the USA and China will experience a significant C accumulation increase under all projected scenarios. | Faming Wang Christian J.Sanders Isaac R.Santos Jianwu Tang Mark Schuerch Matthew L.Kirwan Robert E.Kopp Kai Zhu Xiuzhen Li Jiacan Yuan Wenzhi Liu Zhian Li | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,9: | 22 |

| 4 | Numerical analysis of respiratory flow patterns within human upper airway显示文摘A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approachis used to study the respiratory airflow dynamics within ahuman upper airway. The airway model which consists ofthe airway from nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx and tracheato triple bifurcation is built based on the CT images of ahealthy volunteer and the Weibel model. The flow characteristicsof the whole upper airway are quantitatively describedat any time level of respiratory cycle. Simulation results ofrespiratory flow show good agreement with the clinical measures,experimental and computational results in the literature.The air mainly passes through the floor of the nasalcavity in the common, middle and inferior nasal meatus. Thehigher airway resistance and wall shear stresses are distributedon the posterior nasal valve. Although the airways ofpharynx, larynx and bronchi experience low shear stresses,it is notable that relatively high shear stresses are distributedon the wall of epiglottis and bronchial bifurcations.Besides, two-dimensional fluid-structure interaction modelsof normal and abnormal airways are built to discuss theflow-induced deformation in various anatomy models. | 7 | Self-organizing feature map neural network classification of the ASTER data based on wavelet fusion显示文摘Most methods for classification of remote sensing data are based on the statistical parameter evaluation with the assumption that the samples obey the normal distribution. How-ever, more accurate classification results can be obtained with the neural network method through getting knowledge from environments and adjusting the parameter (or weight) step by step by a specific measurement. This paper focuses on the double-layer structured Kohonen self-organizing feature map (SOFM), for which all neurons within the two layers are linked one another and those of the competition layers are linked as well along the sides. Therefore, the self-adapting learning ability is improved due to the effective competition and suppression in this method. The SOFM has become a hot topic in the research area of remote sensing data classi-fication. The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflectance Radiometer (ASTER) is a new satellite-borne remote sensing instrument with three 15-m resolution bands and three 30-m resolution bands at the near infrared. The ASTER data of Dagang district, Tianjin Munici-pality is used as the test data in this study. At first, the wavelet fusion is carried out to make the spatial resolutions of the ASTER data identical; then, the SOFM method is applied to classifying the land cover types. The classification results are compared with those of the maximum likeli-hood method (MLH). | 9 | Effect of erhuangfang on cerebral and spinal demyelination and regeneration as well as expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein in rats with experimental allergic encephalomyelitis显示文摘BACKGROUND: It demonstrates that erhuangfang can improve clinical symptoms of multiple sclerosis and relieve side effects of hormone. However, whether erhuangfang can improve experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) or not needs a further study. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of erhuangfang on neuro-pathology and astrocyte in EAE rats and compare with the effect of hormone. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal study. SETTINGS: Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University; College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University. MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out in the Laboratory Center of Capital Medical University from August to October 2005. Ten adult guinea pigs (SPF grade, weighing 400-450 g) and 70 adult Lewis rats (SPF grade, weighing 200-220 g) were selected in this study. Erhuangfang consisted of jiudahuang, shengdi, shuizhi, dabeimu, etc. METHODS: ① Experimental intervention: Rats were randomly divided into normal group (n=10), model group (n=20), western medicine group (n=20) and Chinese herb group (n=20). Mixed emulsion, which was consisted of Freund's adjuvant and spinal cord homogenate of guinea pigs, was subcutaneously injected into palms of the two hindfeet of rats in the latter three groups to establish EAE models. Foot pads were injected with saline and then rats were perfused with saline in the normal group. In the model group, models were established as the same as those mentioned above, and rats were also perfused with saline. Rats in the western medicine group were perfused with saline and then 5 mg/kg prednisone acetate suspension. Rats in the Chinese herb group were perfused with erhuangfang decoction (15 g raw materials per kilogram) at 5 days before model establishment. The dosage in the four groups was 3 mL/day per rat. ② Experimental evaluation: At 28 days after model establishment, rats were randomly selected for cerebral (mainly surrounding cerebral ventricle) and spinal cord (cervical enlargement and lumbar enlargement) collections, and then haematine-eosin (HE) staining and SLG myelin staining were used to observe demyelination and regeneration; meanwhile, immunohistochemical staining was used to observe the expression of glial fibriliary acidic protein (GFAP). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Cerebral and spinal demyelination and regeneration as well as expression of GFAP in EAE rats. RESULTS: All 70 Lewis rats were involved in the final analysis. ① Demyelination and regeneration: Infiltration of inflammatory cells surrounding cerebrum and small venous vessels of spinal cord white matter, demyelination surrounding vessels and plentiful foam cells at myelinolysis sites were observed in the model group. Symptoms were relieved in the western medicine group and the Chinese herb group as compared with those in the model group. While, numbers of inflammatory infiltrated cells and vascular cuffs were decreased in focal region as compared with those in the model group; in addition, areas of softening focus and demyelination were decreased. ② Expression of GFAP: Volumes and numbers of positive cells of GFAP in white matter region were respectively bigger and higher than those of normal cells in the model group. Plentiful positive cells of GFAP were disorderly aggregated in hippocampus and surrounding small vessel cuffs. While, expression of GFAP was mildly increased surrounding focus in the Chinese herb group; however, GFAP did not express surrounding focus in the western medicine group. In addition, expressions of GFAP were not increased in non-focal region in both Chinese herb group and western medicine group. CONCLUSION: Both erhuangfang and hormone can relieve inflammatory reaction of central nervoussystem and demyelination of EAE rats. | 14 | Global analysis of lysine succinylation in patchouli plant leaves显示文摘Lysine succinylation is a novel,naturally occurring posttranslational modification(PTM)in living organisms.Global lysine succinylation identification has been performed at the proteomic level in various species;however,the study of lysine succinylation in plant species is relatively limited.Patchouli plant(P.cablin(Blanco)Benth.,Lamiaceae)is a globally important industrial plant and medicinal herb.In the present study,lysine succinylome analysis was carried out in patchouli plants to determine the potential regulatory role of lysine succinylation in patchouli growth,development,and physiology.The global succinylation sites and proteins in patchouli plants were screened with an immunoprecipitation affinity enrichment technique and advanced mass spectrometry-based proteomics.Several bioinformatic analyses,such as function classification and enrichment,subcellular location predication,metabolic pathway enrichment and protein−protein interaction networking,were conducted to characterize the functions of the identified sites and proteins.In total,1097 succinylation sites in 493 proteins were detected in patchouli plants,among which 466 succinylation sites in 241 proteins were repeatedly identified within three independent experiments.The functional characterization of these proteins indicated that the tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle,oxidative phosphorylation,photosynthesis processes,and amino acid biosynthesis may be regulated by lysine succinylation.In addition,these succinylated proteins showed a wide subcellular location distribution,although the chloroplast and cytoplasm were the top two preferred cellular components.Our study suggested the important role of lysine succinylation in patchouli plant physiology and biology and could serve as a useful reference for succinylation studies in other medicinal plants. | Xiaobing Wang Xiuzhen Chen Junren Li Xuanxuan Zhou Yanting Liu Liting Zhong Yun Tang Hai Zheng Jiyun Liu Ruoting Zhan Likai Chen | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 2 |
| 15 | Estimation of Terrestrial Net Primary Productivity in China from Fengyun-3D Satellite Data显示文摘Currently,the satellite data used to estimate terrestrial net primary productivity(NPP)in China are predominantly from foreign satellites,and very few studies have based their estimates on data from China’s Fengyun satellites.Moreover,despite their importance,the influence of land cover types and the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)on NPP estimation has not been clarified.This study employs the Carnegie–Ames–Stanford approach(CASA)model to compute the fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation and the maximum light use efficiency suitable for the main vegetation types in China in accordance with the finer resolution observation and monitoring-global land cover(FROM-GLC)classification product.Then,the NPP is estimated from the Fengyun-3D(FY-3D)data and compared with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)NPP product.The FY-3D NPP is also validated with existing research results and historical field-measured NPP data.In addition,the effects of land cover types and the NDVI on NPP estimation are analyzed.The results show that the CASA model and the FY-3D satellite data estimate an average NPP of 441.2 g C m^(−2) yr^(−1) in 2019 for China’s terrestrial vegetation,while the total NPP is 3.19 Pg C yr^(−1).Compared with the MODIS NPP,the FY-3D NPP is overestimated in areas of low vegetation productivity and is underestimated in high-productivity areas.These discrepancies are largely due to the differences between the FY-3D NDVI and MODIS NDVI.Compared with historical field-measured data,the FY-3D NPP estimation results outperformed the MODIS NPP results,although the deviation between the FY-3D NPP estimate and the in-situ measurement was large and may exceed 20%at the pixel scale.The land cover types and the NDVI significantly affected the spatial distribution of NPP and accounted for NPP deviations of 17.0%and 18.1%,respectively.Additionally,the total deviation resulting from the two factors reached 29.5%.These results show that accurate NDVI products and land cover types are important prerequisites for NPP estimation. | Yonghong LIU Xiuzhen HAN Fuzhong WENG Yongming XU Yeping ZHANG Shihao TANG | 2022 | Journal of Meteorological Research2022,36,3: | 2 |
