1Nitrous oxide emissions from a maize field during two consecutive growing seasons in the North China Plain显示文摘Nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emissions from a maize field in the North China Plain (Wangdu County,Hebei Province,China) were investigated using static chambers during two consecutive maize growing seasons in the 2008 and 2009.The N 2 O pulse emissions occurred with duration of about 10 days after basal and additional fertilizer applications in the both years.The average N 2 O fluxes from the CK (control plot,without crop,fertilization and irrigation),NP (chemical N fertilizer),SN (wheat straw returning plus chemical N fertilizer),OM- 1/2N (chicken manure plus half chemical N fertilizer) and OMN (chicken manure plus chemical N fertilizer) plots in 2008 were 8.51,72.1,76.6,101,107 ng N/(m 2 ·sec),respectively,and in 2009 were 33.7,30.0 and 35.0 ng N/(m 2 ·sec) from CK,NP and SN plots,respectively.The emission factors of the applied fertilizer as N 2 O-N (EFs) were 3.8% (2008) and 1.1% (2009) for the NP plot,3.2% (2008) and 1.2% (2009) for the SN plot,and 2.8% and 2.2% in 2008 for the OM-1/2N and OMN plots,respectively.Hydromorphic properties of the investigated soil (with gley) are in favor of denitrification.The large differences of the soil temperature and water-filled pore space (WFPS) between the two maize seasons were suspected to be responsible for the significant yearly variations.Compared with the treatments of NP and SN,chicken manure coupled with compound fertilizer application significantly reduced fertilizer loss rate as N 2 O-N.Yuanyuan Zhang Junfeng Liu Yujing Mu Zhu Xu Shuwei Pei Xiaoxiu Lun Ying Zhang 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,1:15

3Impact of anthropogenic drivers on subaqueous topographical change in the Datong to Xuliujing reach of the Yangtze River显示文摘Changes of subaqueous topography in shallow offshore water pose safety risks for embankments,navigation,and ports.This study conducted measurements of subaqueous topography between Datong and Xuliujing in the Yangtze River using a Sea Bat 7125 multi-beam echo sounder,and the channel change from 1998 to 2013 was calculated using historical bathymetry data.The study revealed several important results:(1)the overall pattern of changes through the studied stretch of the river was erosion–deposition–erosion.Erosion with a volume 700×10~6m^3occurred in the upper reach,deposition of about 204×10~6m^3occurred in the middle reach,and erosion of about 602×10~6m^3occurred in the lower reach.(2)Dunes are the most common microtopographic feature,accounting for 64.3%of the Datong to Xuliujing reach,followed by erosional topography and flat river topography,accounting for 27.6%and 6.6%,respectively.(3)Human activities have a direct impact on the development of the microtopography.For instance,the mining of sand formed holes on the surface of dunes with lengths of 20–35 m and depths of 3–5 m.We concluded that the overall trend of erosion(net erosion volume of 468×10~6m^3)occurred in the study area mainly because of the decreased sediment discharge following the closure of the Three Gorges Dam.However,other human activities were also impact factors of topographic change.Use of embankments and channel management reduced channel width,restricted river meandering,and exacerbated the erosion phenomenon.Shuwei ZHENG Heqin CHENG Shengyu SHI Wei XU Quanping ZHOU Yuehua JIANG Fengnian ZHOU Minxiong CAO 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,7:10
4An experimental and numerical study on the charring rate of timber beams exposed to three-side fire显示文摘To investigate the charring rate of timber beams exposed to three-side fire, a total of fifteen new and used Douglas-Fir timber beams in four groups exposed to three-side fire were experimentally studied, together with the finite element analyses of the temperature distribution in the beam section. The durations of fire exposure were 0 (on a test piece), 10, 15, 20 and 30 min, according to the ISO 834 standard fire curve. The charring depth of each timber beam was calculated by averaging the values at one-third and two-thirds along each cross section to give the charring rate of timber beams. It was found that the timber beam's charring rate reduces as the duration of fire exposure increases and the vertical charring rate is slightly higher than the horizontal one. The areas of beam sections reduce due to charring and the strength and stiffness of the pyrolysis layer near the charring edge decrease owing to the high-temperature. The average horizontal and vertical charring rates are 0.98 and 1.08 mm/min, respectively. To take into account the difference between the test furnace temperature curve and the ISO 834 stand- ard fire curve, some corrections were made for these data to yield the solution for charring rate. With the help of the finite element software ANSYS, the temperature distribution of the wood's cross-section was analyzed. 5Sand mining impact on Poyang Lake: a case study based on high-resolution bathymetry and sub-bottom data显示文摘Poyang Lake in the Changjiang(Yangtze)River catchment has undergone frequent spring drought since 2003,and some researchers attributed this phenomenon to sand mining and the lakebed deformation in the outlet channel linking the lake with Changjiang River main channel.However,there is still a lack of high-resolution subaqueous geomorphological evidence of how sand mining led to lakebed deformation in the outlet channel.We examined the bed morphology and sub-bottom sedimentary structure of the outlet channel,using a multibeam echo sounder and sub-bottom profi ler in Poyang Lake.We found that:(1)the subaqueous micro-topography types of the outlet channel are characterized by sand mining disturbance,natural erosional topography,and fl at bed and dunes,accounting for 44.9%,21.4%,28.6%,and 5.1%of the channel area,respectively;and(2)sand mining activity aff ects the local bed topography extensively and signifi cantly.The depth of sandpits caused by sand mining varied from 1.4 m to 12 m deeper than the surrounding bed surface,with 4.41 m of depth increase on average.Hence,the large-scale high-intensity sand mining activities and their signifi cant geomorphic eff ects demand for an improved assessment for future management and longer-term sustainability.Because of the large-scale and ongoing high-intensity sand mining activities in the Poyang Lake outlet channel,these eff ects should raise caution in the future and contribute to monitoring eff orts that are essential to implement sustainable management solutions.The present study and techniques implemented can serve as a scientifi c reference for dam construction and sand mining within the Poyang Lake basin.Shuwei ZHENG Heqin CHENG Ming TANG Wei XU Enfeng LIU Shu GAO Jim BEST Yuehua JIANG Quanping ZHOU 2022Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,4:3
6CsTCPs regulate shoot tip development and catechin biosynthesis in tea plant (Camellia sinensis)显示文摘The growth of leaves and biosynthesis of characteristic secondary metabolites are critically important for tea production and quality control.However,little is known about the coordinated regulation of leaf development and catechin biosynthesis in tea plants.Here,we reported that TCP TFs are involved in both catechin biosynthesis and leaf development.An integrated analysis of catechin profiling and CsTCP expression in different tissues of plants under various environmental conditions at different developmental stages indicated significant correlations between the transcript levels of CIN-type TCPs and catechin production.CIN-type CsTCP3 and CsTCP4 and PCF-type CsTCP14 interacted with the MYB-bHLH-WD40 repeat(MBW)complex by forming a CsTCP3-CsTT8 heterodimer and modulating the transactivation activity of the promoters of anthocyanin synthase(CsANSl)and anthocyanidin reductase(CsANRl).Four types of microRNA/target modules,miR319b/CsTCP3-4,miR164b/CsCUC,miR396/CsGRF-GIF,and miR165b/HD-ZIPIII ones,were also identified and characterized for their functions in the regulation of the development of teaplant shoot tips and leaf shape.The results of these modules were reflected by their different expression patterns in developing buds and leaves that had distinctly different morphologies in three different teaplant varieties.Their roles in the regulation of catechin biosynthesis were also further verified by manipulation of microRNA319b(miR319b),which targets the transcripts of CsTCP3 and CsTCP4.Thus,CsTCPs represent at least one of these important groups of TFs that can integrate tea plant leaf development together with secondary metabolite biosynthesis.Our study provides new insight into shoot tip development and catechin production in tea plants and lays a foundation for further mechanistic understanding of the regulation of tea plant leaf development and secondary metabolism.Shuwei Yu Penghui Li Xuecheng Zhao Mangmang Tan Muhammad Zulfiqar Ahmad Yujie Xu Million Tadege Jian Zhao 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2
7β-delayed proton decays near the proton drip line显示文摘We briefly reviewed the experimental study on a-delayed proton decays near the proton drip line published by our group during the period of 1996―2004, namely the first observation of the a-delayed proton decays of 9 new nuclides in the rare-earth region and the new measurements of a-delayed proton decays of 5 nuclides in the mass ~90 region near the N = Z line with the aid of the “p-?” coincidence in combination with a He-jet tape transport system. In the meantime some important experimental technique details were supplemented. The experimental results, including the half -lives, spins, parities, deformations and production reaction cross sections for the 14 nuclei were summarized and compared with the current nuclear-model predictions, and then the following points were represented. (1) The experimental half-lives for 85Mo and 92Rh as well as the predicted “waiting point” nuclei 89Ru and 93Pd are 5―10 times longer than the theoretical predictions given by M?ller et al. using a macroscopic-microscopic model. It considerably influences the predictions of the abundances of the nuclides produced in the rp-process. (2) The current-model predictions are not consistent with the experimental assignments of the spins and parities for the proton drip-line nuclei 142Ho and 128Pm. However, the nuclear potential energy surface (PES) calculated by using a Woods- Saxon-Strutinsky method reproduced the experimental results. 14A Low-Cost High-Performance Data Augmentation for Deep Learning-Based Skin Lesion Classification显示文摘Objective and Impact Statement.There is a need to develop high-performance and low-cost data augmentation strategies for intelligent skin cancer screening devices that can be deployed in rural or underdeveloped communities.The proposed strategy can not only improve the classification performance of skin lesions but also highlight the potential regions of interest for clinicians’attention.This strategy can also be implemented in a broad range of clinical disciplines for early screening and automatic diagnosis of many other diseases in low resource settings.Methods.We propose a high-performance data augmentation strategy of search space 101,which can be combined with any model through a plug-and-play mode and search for the best argumentation method for a medical database with low resource cost.Results.With EfficientNets as a baseline,the best BACC of HAM10000 is 0.853,outperforming the other published models of“single-model and no-external-database”for ISIC 2018 Lesion Diagnosis Challenge(Task 3).The best average AUC performance on ISIC 2017 achieves 0.909(±0.015),exceeding most of the ensembling models and those using external datasets.Performance on Derm7pt archives the best BACC of 0.735(±0.018)ahead of all other related studies.Moreover,the model-based heatmaps generated by Grad-CAM++verify the accurate selection of lesion features in model judgment,further proving the scientific rationality of model-based diagnosis.Conclusion.The proposed data augmentation strategy greatly reduces the computational cost for clinically intelligent diagnosis of skin lesions.It may also facilitate further research in low-cost,portable,and AI-based mobile devices for skin cancer screening and therapeutic guidance.Shuwei Shen Mengjuan Xu Fan Zhang Pengfei Shao Honghong Liu Liang Xu Chi Zhang Peng Liu Peng Yao Ronald X.Xu 2022Biomedical Engineering Frontiers2022,3,1:1
15Engineering of hollow polymeric nanosphere-supported imidazolium-based ionic liquids with enhanced antimicrobial activities显示文摘The design of stable,efficient and processable bactericidal materials represents a significant challenge for combating multidrugresistant bacteria in a variety of engineering fields.Herein,we report a facile strategy for the preparation of hollow polymeric nanosphere(HPN)-supported imidazolium-based ionic liquids(denoted as HPN-ILs)with superior antimicrobial activities.HPNILs were tailored by moderate Friedel−Crafts polymerization followed by the sequential covalent bonding of imidazole and bromoalkene.The resultant HPN-ILs have uniform hollow spherical morphology,an adequate surface area,and excellent physicochemical stability.Furthermore,they are highly active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and exhibit typical time/dosage-dependent antibacterial activities.The rational combination of porous HPNs and antibacterial ILs to generate an all-in-one entity may open new avenues for the design and fabrication of efficient bacteriostatic agents.Moreover,HPN-ILs have good biocompatibility and can also be loaded onto diverse matrices,and thus could extend their practical bactericidal application in the potential biomedical-active field.Yu Zhang Shuwei Li Yixin Xu Xinyun Shi Mingxin Zhang Yingning Huang Ying Liang Yaqiong Chen Wanli Ji Jung Rae Kim Wenliang Song Deng-Guang Yu Il Kim 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:1
16Mesenchymal stromal cells alleviate acute respiratory distress syndrome through the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway显示文摘Mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)have been considered a promising alternative for treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).However,there is significant heterogeneity in their therapeutic efficacy,largely owing to the incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic activities of MSCs.Here,we hypothesize that the cholinergic antiinflammatory pathway(CAP),which is recognized as a neuroimmunological pathway,may be involved in the therapeutic mechanisms by which MSCs mitigate ARDS.Using lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and bacterial lung inflammation models,we found that inflammatory cell infiltration and Evans blue leakage were reduced and that the expression levels of choline acetyltransferase(ChAT)and vesicular acetylcholine transporter(VAChT)in lung tissue were significantly increased 6 hours after MSC infusion.When the vagus nerve was blocked orα7 nicotinic acetylcholine(ACh)receptor(α7nAChR)-knockout mice were used,the therapeutic effects of MSCs were significantly reduced,suggesting that the CAP may play an important role in the effects of MSCs in ARDS treatment.Our results further showed that MSC-derived prostaglandin E2(PGE2)likely promoted ACh synthesis and release.Additionally,based on the efficacy of nAChR andα7nAChR agonists,we found that lobeline,the nicotinic cholinergic receptor excitation stimulant,may attenuate pulmonary inflammation and alleviate respiratory symptoms of ARDS patients in a clinical study(ChiCTR2100047403).In summary,we reveal a previously unrecognized MSC-mediated mechanism of CAP activation as the means by which MSCs alleviate ARDS-like syndrome,providing insight into the clinical translation of MSCs or CAP-related strategies for the treatment of patients with ARDS.Xiaoran Zhang Xuxia Wei Yiwen Deng Xiaofeng Yuan Jiahao Shi Weijun Huang Jing Huang Xiaoyong Chen Shuwei Zheng Jieying Chen Keyu Chen Ruiming Xu Hongmiao Wang Weiqiang Li Shiyue Li Huimin Yi Andy Peng Xiang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,10:1
