1Small mammal community succession on the beach of Dongting Lake,China after the Three Gorges Project显示文摘Although the Three Gorges Project(TGP)may have affected the population structure and distribution of plant and animal communities,few studies have analyzed the effect of this project on small mammal communities.Therefore,the present paper compares the small mammal communities inhabiting the beaches of Dongting Lake using field investigations spanning a 20-year period,both before and after the TGP was implemented.Snap traps were used throughout the census.The results indicate that the TGP caused major changes to the structure of the small mammal community at a lake downstream of the dam.First,species abundance on the beaches in­creased after the project commenced.The striped field mouse(Apodemus agrarius)and the Norway rat(Rat­tus norvegicus),which rarely inhabited the beach before the TGP,became abundant(with marked population growth)once water was impounded by the Three Gorges Reservoir.Second,dominant species concentration in­dices exhibited a stepwise decline,indicating that the community structure changed from a single dominant spe­cies to a more diverse species mix after TGP implementation.Third,the regulation of water discharge release by the TGP might have caused an increase in the species diversity of the animal community on the beaches.A sig­nificant difference in diversity indices was obtained before and after the TGP operation.Similarity indices also indicate a gradual increase in species numbers.Hence,a long-term project should be established to monitor the population fluctuations of the Yangtze vole(Microtus fortis),the striped field mouse and the Norway rat to safe­guard against population outbreaks(similar to the Yangtze vole outbreak in 2007),which could cause crop dam­age to adjacent farmland,in addition to documenting the succession process of the small mammal community inhabiting the beaches of Dongting Lake.Meiwen ZHANG Yong WANG Bo LI Cong GUO Guoxian HUANG Guo SHEN Xunjun ZHOU 2014Integrative Zoology2014,9,3:3

17Fabrication of UV-Curing Linalool-Polysiloxane Hybrid Films with High Refractive Index and Transparency显示文摘In this article,a series of high refractive indices(1.50-1.53)thiol phenyl polysiloxane(TPS)were synthesized via hydrolytic sol-gel reaction.The Fourier transform infrared spectra(FT-IR)and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra(NMR)results showed that TPS conformed to the predicted structures.Natural terpene linalool was exploited as photocrosslinker to fabricate UV-curing linalool-polysiloxane hybrid films(LPH)with TPS via photoinitiated thiol-ene reaction.LPH rapidly cured under UV irradiation at the intensity of 80 mW/cm2 in 30 s,exhibiting good UV-curing properties.The optical transmittance of LPH in the wavelength of 300-800 nm was over 90%,exhibiting good optical transparency.The water contact angle and water vapor permeability results showed that the introduction of phenyl groups enhance the hydrophobicity and water vapor barrier properties of LPH.The results indicated the potential of LPHs in the applications of optical functional coatings.Wenqing Xiao Lewen Tan Xunjun Chen Qiaoguang Li Yunqing Ruan 2024Journal of Renewable Materials2024,12,3:0
18Evolutionary Experience-Driven Particle Swarm Optimization with Dynamic Searching显示文摘Particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithms have been successfully used for various complex optimization problems.However,balancing the diversity and convergence is still a problem that requires continuous research.Therefore,an evolutionary experience-driven particle swarm optimization with dynamic searching(EEDSPSO)is proposed in this paper.For purpose of extracting the effective information during population evolution,an adaptive framework of evolutionary experience is presented.And based on this framework,an experience-based neighborhood topology adjustment(ENT)is used to control the size of the neighborhood range,thereby effectively keeping the diversity of population.Meanwhile,experience-based elite archive mechanism(EEA)adjusts the weights of elite particles in the late evolutionary stage,thus enhancing the convergence of the algorithm.In addition,a Gaussian crisscross learning strategy(GCL)adopts cross-learning method to further balance the diversity and convergence.Finally,extensive experiments use the CEC2013 and CEC2017.The experiment results show that EEDSPSO outperforms current excellent PSO variants.Wei Li Jianghui Jing Yangtao Chen Xunjun Chen Ata Jahangir Moshayedi 2023Complex System Modeling and Simulation2023,3,4:0
19Assessment of non-target toxicity effects of synthetic estradiol, quinestrol, in chickens显示文摘Fertility control agents for the management of rodent populations are developing and maturing.Investigating the impacts on non-target species of consumption of these agents is essential.The present study assessed the non-target toxicity effects of quinestrol,a synthetic estrogen-based antifertility agent for managing rodent populations.Various quinestrol doses administered to male and female(n=60 each)chickens through single oral gavage were 0(A),10(B),50(C),and 150(D)mg/kg body weight.Chickens were assessed for effect on body weight,weight of vital and reproductive organs,reproductive hormones,histology of reproductive organs and egg laying rates after 15,30,and 135 days of treatment.Quinestrol did not induce mortality in chickens and its effects were time and dose dependent.The 90%egg-laying rates were delayed by 30,60 for groups B and C compared with the control group,and group D did not reach the 90%egg-laying rate by 135 days.Reproductive organs in males and females returned to normal levels within 30 and 135 days,respectively.With the exception of the FSH concentration in group D,reproductive hormones of both sexes were similar to controls by 30 days.No other significant effects were found.The present research demonstrated the safety of quinestrol on non-target species and facilitates recommendations for the general administration of quinestrol for rodent pest management.Siyuan HE Xunjun ZHOU Yong WANG Meiwen ZHANG Kangjuan WU 2022Integrative Zoology2022,17,6:0
