1Mineralogical characteristics of airborne particles collected in Beijing during a severe Asian dust storm period in spring 2002显示文摘Asian dust storm (ADS) samples were collected on March 20,2002 in Beijing,China. High-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray detector (FESEM-EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to study the morphology,chemical compositions,number-size dis-tributions and mineralogical compositions of ADS particles. The mineral particles were major compo-nents in the ADS samples,accounting for 94% by number. The XRD analysis indicated that the dust particles were dominated by clay (40.3%),and quartz (19.5%),followed by plagioclase (8.4%),calcite (7.5%),K-feldspar (1.5%),hematite (0.9%),pyrite (0.9%),hornblende (0.4%) and gypsum (0.3%),with a certain amount of noncrystalline materials (20.3%). Clay minerals were mainly illite/smectite mixed lay-ers (78%),followed by illite (9%),kaolinite (6%),and chlorite (7%). In addition to these main minerals,FESEM-EDX also detected some trace minerals,such as dolomite,pyrite,thenardite,as well as heavy minerals represented by rutile,ilmenite and apatite. 6Nanofiltration for drinking water treatment: a review显示文摘In recent decades,nanofiltration(NF)is considered as a promising separation technique to produce drinking water from different types of water source.In this paper,we comprehensively reviewed the progress of NFbased drinking water treatment,through summarizing the development of materials/fabrication and applications of NF membranes in various scenarios including surface water treatment,groundwater treatment,water reuse,brackish water treatment,and point of use applications.We not only summarized the removal of target major pollutants(e.g.,hardness,pathogen,and natural organic matter),but also paid attention to the removal of micropollutants of major concern(e.g.,disinfection byproducts,per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances,and arsenic).We highlighted that,for different applications,fit-for-purpose design is needed to improve the separation capability for target compounds of NF membranes in addition to their removal of salts.Outlook and perspectives on membrane fouling control,chlorine resistance,integrity,and selectivity are also discussed to provide potential insights for future development of high-efficiency NF membranes for stable and reliable drinking water treatment.Hao Guo Xianhui Li Wulin Yang Zhikan Yao Ying Mei Lu Elfa Peng Zhe Yang Senlin Shao Chuyang Y.Tang 2022Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2022,16,5:1
7CmRAV1 shows differential expression in two melon (Cucumis melo L.) cultivars and enhances salt tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis plants显示文摘The growth and development of melon(Cucumis melo L.)are severely affected by soil salinization in many areas of the world,but the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying salt tolerance in melon remains limited.In this study,a new RAV(related to ABI3/VP1)gene,CmRAV1,was identified in melon.Protein structure homology analysis revealed that CmRAV1 contains an AP2 domain and a B3 domain,and subcellular localization assay revealed that CmRAV1 is localized in the nucleus.The transcript level of CmRAV1 was closely correlated with NaCl treatment,and the expression pattern of CmRAV1 differed between two cultivars(salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive cultivars)under NaCl treatment.In addition,yeasts transformed with CmRAV1 showed notably improved growth on medium containing 200 mM NaCl compared with wild-type ones.The overexpression of CmRAV1 in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana resulted in enhanced salt tolerance at the seed germination and seedling growth stages.This study demonstrated that the expression of CmRAV1 was associated with saline stress and can potentially be utilized to improve plant salt tolerance.Lina Zhao Furong Zhang Bin Liu Senlin Yang Xue Xiong Danial Hassani Yidong Zhang 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,11:1
8Forward prediction for tunnel geology and classification of surrounding rock based on seismic wave velocity layered tomography显示文摘Excavation under complex geological conditions requires effective and accurate geological forward-prospecting to detect the unfavorable geological structure and estimate the classification of surround-ing rock in front of the tunnel face.In this work,a forward-prediction method for tunnel geology and classification of surrounding rock is developed based on seismic wave velocity layered tomography.In particular,for the problem of strong multi-solution of wave velocity inversion caused by few ray paths in the narrow space of the tunnel,a layered inversion based on regularization is proposed.By reducing the inversion area of each iteration step and applying straight-line interface assumption,the convergence and accuracy of wave velocity inversion are effectively improved.Furthermore,a surrounding rock classification network based on autoencoder is constructed.The mapping relationship between wave velocity and classification of surrounding rock is established with density,Poisson’s ratio and elastic modulus as links.Two numerical examples with geological conditions similar to that in the field tunnel and a field case study in an urban subway tunnel verify the potential of the proposed method for practical application.Bin Liu Jiansen Wang Senlin Yang Xinji Xu Yuxiao Ren 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,1:1
9A new pattern-based method for identifying recent HIV-1 infections from the viral env sequence显示文摘The long asymptomatic stage of HIV infection poses a great challenge in identifying recent HIV infections. This is a bottleneck for monitoring HIV epidemic trends and evaluating the effectiveness of national AIDS control programs. Several serological methods were used to address this issue with some success. Because of high false-positive rates in patients with advanced infection or in ART treatment, UNAIDS still hesitates to recommend their use in routine surveillance. We developed a new pattern-based method for measuring intra-patient viral genetic diversity for determination of recent infections and estimation of population incidence. This method is verified by using several datasets (424 subtype B and 77 CRF07_BC samples) with clearly identified HIV-1 infection times. Pattern-based diversities of recent infections are significantly lower than that of chronic ones. With larger window periods varying from 200 to 350 days, a higher accuracy (90% 95%) not affected by advanced disease nor ART treatment could be obtained. 11The expressions and significance of α-,β-catenins and cyclin D1 in breast cancers显示文摘Objective:To study the relationship between expressions of α-,β-catenins and cyclin D1 and the occurrence, infiltration and metastasis of breast cancer. Methods: High sensitive S-P immunohistochemical method was used to detect the protein expressions of α-,β-catenins and cyclin D1 in the 60 cases of breast cancer tissues. Results: Abnormal immu-noreactivities of α-and β-catenins were observed in 37 (61.7%) and 42 (70%) cases of breast cancer tissues, respectively. There were 28 cases (46.7%) who showed cyclin D1 overexpression. The abnormal expression rates of α-and β-catenins in infiltrating lobular carcinoma (ILC) were significantly higher than those in infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC) (P<0.05), but they had no relations to the extent of differentiation and lymphatic metastasis of breast cancer (P>0.05). The overexpression rate of cyclin D1 was correlated with tumor stage and lymphatic metastasis of breast cancer (P<0.05), but not with histological type and the extent of differentiation (P>0.05). Cyclin D1 overexpression was observed in 57.1% (24/42) of these cases that showed abnormal staining of β-catenin, but only observed in 22.2% (4/18) of these cases with normal membranous staining of β-catenin. There was a significantly positive correlation between the abnormal expression of β-catenin and overexpression of cyclin D1 (rs=0.321, P<0.05). Conclusion: The abnormal expression of β-catenin may play an important role in the genesis of breast cancer by triggering cyclin D1 overexpression in breast cancer. 13Nanoparticles(NPs)-mediated systemic mRNA delivery to reverse trastuzumab resistance for effective breast cancer therapy显示文摘Monoclonal antibody-based therapy has achieved great success and is now one of the most crucial therapeutic modalities for cancer therapy.The first monoclonal antibody authorized for treating human epidermal growth receptor 2(HER2)-positive breast cancer is trastuzumab.However,resistance to trastuzumab therapy is frequently encountered and thus significantly restricts the therapeutic outcomes.To address this issue,tumor microenvironment(TME)pH-responsive nanoparticles(NPs)were herein developed for systemic mRNA delivery to reverse the trastuzumab resistance of breast cancer(BCa).This nanoplatform is comprised of a methoxyl-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)copolymer with a TME pH-liable linker(Meo-PEG-Dlinkm-PLGA)and an amphiphilic cationic lipid that can complex PTEN mRNA via electrostatic interaction.When the long-circulating mRNA-loaded NPs build up in the tumor after being delivered intravenously,they could be efficiently internalized by tumor cells due to the TME pH-triggered PEG detachment from the NP surface.With the intracellular mRNA release to up-regulate PTEN expression,the constantly activated PI3K/Akt signaling pathway could be blocked in the trastuzumab-resistant BCa cells,thereby resulting in the reversal of trastuzumab resistance and effectively suppress the development of BCa.Zhihui Dong Zhuoshan Huang Senlin Li Ying Wang Yandan Yao Xianzhu Yang Xiaoding Xu 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,3:1

15Physiological and biomass partitioning shifts to water stress under distinct soil types in Populus deltoides saplings显示文摘土壤类型是影响植物分布和生产力的重要环境因素,但有关土壤环境异质性对植物抗逆性效应的研究非常缺乏。本研究以美洲黑杨(Populus deltoids)为对象,以3种典型土壤类型(红壤、黄壤和黄棕壤)为栽培基质,在控制实验条件下,经过三个月的干旱胁迫(25%田间持水量)处理,测定了不同处理条件下美洲黑杨的气体交换速率、抗氧化能力、氮代谢特征、生物量积累与分配特征。研究结果表明,在红壤和黄壤条件下,与对照(75%田间持水量)相比,干旱胁迫显著降低了美洲黑杨各器官的生物量、光合速率、叶片氮同化酶的活性,显著增加了叶片中过氧化氢、丙二醛和无机氮的含量。在黄棕壤条件下,干旱对美洲黑杨总生物量、光合速率、氮同化酶以及质膜完整性的负面影响较小,这与其维持较高的超氧化物歧化酶,过氧化物酶和过氧化氢酶的活性相关,也与其生物量分配模式(如提高根冠比)密切相关。由此可见,生长在黄棕壤条件下的美洲黑杨表现出较强的抗旱能力,这可能与其土壤母质中较高的土壤养分和良好的通气状况相关。因此,就土壤类型而言,与红壤和黄壤相比,黄棕壤提供的土壤环境条件有利于美洲黑杨的抗逆表现和栽培利用。Senlin Yang Jian Shi Lianghua Chen Jian Zhang Danju Zhang Zhenfeng Xu Jiujin Xiao Peng Zhu Yang Liu Tiantian Lin Li Zhang Hanbo Yang Yu Zhong 2020Journal of Plant Ecology2020,13,5:0

17Atomically dispersed dual Fe centers on nitrogen-doped bamboo-like carbon nanotubes for efficient oxygen reduction显示文摘Interfacial atomic configuration between dual-metal active species and nitrogen-carbon substrates is of great importance for improving the intrinsic activity of catalysts toward oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).Thus,from the atomic-scale engineering we develop a high intrinsic activity ORR catalyst in terms of incorporating atomically dispersed dual Fe centers(single Fe atoms and ultra-small Fe atomic clusters)into bamboo-like N-doped carbon nanotubes.Benefiting from atomically dispersed dual-Fe centers on the atomic interface of Fe-Nx/carbon nanotubes,the fabricated dual Fe centers catalyst exhibits an extremely high ORR activity(E_(onset)=1.006 V;E_(1/2)=0.90 V),beyond state-of-the-art Pt/C.Remarkably,this catalyst also shows a superior kinetic current density of 19.690 mA·cm^(−2),which is 7 times that of state-of-the-art Pt/C.Additionally,based on the excellent catalyst,the primary Zn-air battery reveals a high power density up to 137 mW·cm^(−2) and sufficient potential cycling stability(at least 25 h).Undoubtedly,given the unique structure–activity relationship of dual-Fe active species and metal-nitrogen-carbon substrates,the catalyst will show great prospects in highly efficient electrochemical energy conversion devices.Ligang Ma Junlin Li Zhiwei Zhang Hao Yang Xueqin Mu Xiangyao Gu Huihui Jin Ding Chen Senlin Yan Suli Liu Shichun Mu 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:0
18RNA-sequencing analysis reveals novel genes involved in the different peel color formation in eggplant显示文摘Eggplant(Solanum melongena L.)is a highly nutritious vegetable.Here,the molecular mechanism of color formation in eggplants was determined using six eggplant cultivars with different peel colors and two SmMYB113-overexpressing transgenic eggplants with a purple peel and pulp.Significant differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were identified by RNA-sequencing analysis using the following criteria:log2(sample1/sample2)≥0.75 and q-value≤0.05.Two analytical strategies were used to identify genes related to the different peel color according to the peel color,flavonoids content,delphinidins/flavonoids ratio,and the content of anthocyanins.Finally,27 novel genes were identified to be related to the color difference among eggplant peels and 32 novel genes were identified to be related to anthocyanin biosynthesis and regulated by SmMYB113.Venn analysis revealed that SmCytb5,SmGST,SmMATE,SmASAT3,and SmF3′5’M were shared among both sets of novel genes.Transient expression assay in tobacco suggested that these five genes were not sufficient for inducing anthocyanin biosynthesis alone,but they play important roles in anthocyanin accumulation in eggplant peels.Yeast one-hybrid,electrophoretic mobility shift assay and dual-luciferase assays indicated that the expression of the five genes could be directly activated by SmMYB113 protein.Finally,a regulatory model for the mechanism of color formation in eggplant was proposed.Overall,the results of this study provide useful information that enhances our understanding of the molecular mechanism underlying the different color formation in eggplant.Jing Li Senlin Jiang Guobin Yang Yanwei Xu Lujun Li Fengjuan Yang 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,10:0
19Seismic ahead-prospecting based on deep learning of retrieving seismic wavefield显示文摘Unknown geology ahead of the tunnel boring machine(TBM)brings a large safety risk for tunnel construction.Seismic ahead-prospecting using TBM drilling noise as a source can achieve near-real-time detection,meeting the requirements of TBM rapid drilling.Seismic wavefield retrieval is the key data processing step for the efficient utilization of TBM drilling noise.The traditional solution is based on cross-correlation to extract reflected waves,but the reference waves remain in the result,disturbing the imaging and interpre-tation of the adverse geology.To solve this problem,the deep learning method was introduced in wavefield retrieval to improve the accu-racy of geological prospecting.We trained a deep neural network(DNN)with its strong nonlinear mapping capability to transform seismic data from TBM drilling noise to data from the active source.The issue lies in its features for this specific tunnel task,including the decay of the seismic signal with time and the incomplete spatial correspondence.Thus,we improved a classical DNN with the time constraint as an additional input,and an additional pre-decoder to enlarge the receptive field.Additionally,a loss function weighted by the ground truth and time constraint is improved to achieve an accurate retrieval of the effective signal,considering the little effective information in tunnel data.Finally,the workflow of the proposed method was given,and a dataset designed with reference to the field case was employed to train the network.The proposed method accurately retrieved the reflection signal with higher dominant frequen-cies,which helped improve the accuracy of imaging.Numerical simulations and imaging on typical geological models show that the pro-posed method can suppress reference waves and get more accurate results with fewer artifacts.The proposed method has been applied in the Gaoligongshan Tunnel and imaged two abnormal zones,providing meaningful geological information for TBM drilling and tunnel construction.Lei Chen Senlin Yang Lei Guo Panlong Zhang Kai Li Wei Shao Xinji Xu ⇑Fahe Sun 2023Underground Space2023,,4:0
20Improving luminescence and thermometric performance of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):Er^(3+) by tri-doping with Yb^(3+) and Na^(+)显示文摘The Er3+doped double perovskite Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) crystal is a promising ratiometric thermometer based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR) of transitions from ^(2)H_(11/2) and ^(4)S_(3/2) to the lowered ^(4)I_(15/2) level.However,the Ca^(2+) vacancy defect caused by the charge difference between rare-earth ions and the substituted alkaline-earth ions gives rise to the non-radiative probability and limits the thermal sensitivity.Here,the up-conversion luminescence and thermometric performance of Er^(3+),Yb^(3+) dopedBa_(2)CaWO_(6) are tuned by tri-doping with alkaline ions.The Ca^(2+) vacancy defect can be eliminated by the introduction of Na^(+),which occupies the Ca^(2+) site when it is doped into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+).On the contrary,the doping of Cs^(+) into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+) enhances the defect concentration because it occupies the site of Ba^(2+).Thus,the tri-doping of Na^(+) reduces the non-radiative probability and enhances the quantum efficiency of Er^(3+),leading to the improvement of the thermometric sensitivity of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6).As a result,we get an excellent thermometric Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):8%Yb^(3+),3.5%Er^(3+),6%Na^(+) powder with a luminescence lifetime of 515 μs and maximum thermal sensitivity(S_(r)) of 1.45%/K,which is more than three times higher than that of the BCWO:Er^(3+) powder.Lingyun Li Ziwei Zhou Fazheng Huang Senlin Peng Yantang Huang Guoqiang Wang Xinxu Li Fei-Fei Chen Chengkai Yang Xin-Xiong Li Yan Yu 2023Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,1:0
