| 1 | Psychological status and diabetes-related distress of Chinese type 1 diabetes patients in Jiangsu province, China显示文摘We sought to assess the psychological status and diabetes-related distress of Chinese type 1 diabetes patients in Jiangsu province,China.According to the World Health Organization criteria,42 patients with type 1 diabetes were enrolled in the study and assessed with the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Diabetes Distress Scale(DDS).All data were tabulated and statistical analyses were performed.The study summarized cases of 42 patients with type 1 diabetes,including 17 males and 25 females with a mean age of 23±12 years and a mean duration of diabetes of 7±6 years.Compared to the Chinese normative data,the SAS standard score was significantly higher,whereas SDS standard score had no statistical significance.The SAS standard score was most highly correlated with diabetes duration(γ=0.547,P=0.011).Additionally,19.5%of the patients had moderate or even severe diabetes-related distress and 21.4%had moderate or even severe emotional burden while 26.2%had regimen-related distress.Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the mean correlation between DDS and the four domains was high,particularly the emotional burden domain(estimatedβ=0.363,P<0.001)and regimen-related distress domain(estimatedβ=0.356,P<0.001).The correlation between SAS and DDS was positive(estimatedβ=0.039,P=0.027).In conclusion,the results showed the importance of psychological aspects in Chinese individuals with type 1 diabetes.Screening and treatment of psychological aspects may result in better adherence and increased quality of life for patients with diabetes. | Lulu Kong Yun Cai Gang Mei Rong Gu Xiaojiao Zhang Yao Qin Ya Cai Yan Li Hongwen Zhou Mei Zhang Tao Yang | 2013 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,5: | 9 |

| 4 | Magnified and enhanced computed virtual chromoendoscopy in gastric neoplasia: A feasibility study显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the feasibility of a new computed virtual chromoendoscopy (CVC) device (M i-scan) in the diagnosis of gastric neoplasia. METHODS: Patients with superficial lesions no larger than 1.0 cm found during high definition endoscopy were included. Those with advanced or obviously protruded or depressed lesions, lesions larger than 1.0 cm and/or lesions which were not amenable to observation by zoom function were excluded. The endoscopist was required to give the real-time descriptions of surface pit patterns of the lesions, based on surface pattern classification of enhanced magnification endoscopy. According to previous reports, types Ⅰ-Ⅲ represent nonneoplastic lesions, and types Ⅳ-Ⅴ represent neoplastic lesions. Diagnosis with M i-scan and biopsy was performed before histopathological diagnosis. Magnified images of gastric lesions with and without enhancement were collected for further analysis. The diagnostic yield of real-time M i-scan and effects on magnification image quality by tone enhancement (TE), surface enhancement (SE) and color enhancement (CE) were calculated. The selected images were sent to another endoscopist. The endoscopist rated the image quality of each lesion at 3 levels. Ratings of image quality were based on visualization of pit pattern, vessel and demarcation line. RESULTS: One hundred and eighty-three patients were recruited. Five patients were excluded for advanced gastric lesions, 1 patient was excluded for poor preparation and 2 patients were excluded for superficial lesions larger than 1.0 cm; 132 patients were excluded for no lesions found by high definition endoscopy. In the end, 43 patients with 43 lesions were included. Histopathology revealed 10 inflammation, 14 atrophy, 10 metaplasia, 1 low grade dysplasia (LGD), 5 high grade dysplasia (HGD) and 3 cancers. For 7 lesions classified into type Ⅰ, histopathology revealed 6 atrophy and 1 metaplasia; for 10 lesions classified into type Ⅱ, histopathology revealed 2 inflammation, 7 atrophy and 1 metaplasia; for 10 lesions classified into type Ⅲ, histopathology revealed 1 inflammation, 8 metaplasia and 1 LGD; for 9 lesions classified into type Ⅳ, histopathology revealed 4 inflammation, 1 atrophy and 4 HGD; for 7 lesions classified into type Ⅴ, histopathology revealed 3 inflammation, 1 HGD and 3 cancers. A total of 172 still images, including 43 images by white light (MWL) and 129 images by M i-scan (43 with TE, 43 with SE and 43 with CE), were selected and sent to the endoscopist who did the analysis. General image quality of M i-scan with TE and SE was significantly better than that of MWL (TE, 4.55 ± 1.07; SE, 4.30 ± 1.02; MWL, 3.25 ± 0.99; P < 0.001). Visualization of pit pattern was significantly improved by M i-scan with SE (1.93 ± 0.25 vs 1.50 ± 0.50, P < 0.001). Microvessel visualization was significantly improved by M i-scan with TE (1.23 ± 0.78 vs 0.76 ± 0.73, P < 0.001). Demarcation line visualization was improved by M i-scan with both TE and SE (TE, 1.75 ± 0.52; SE, 1.56 ± 0.59; MWL, 0.98 ± 0.44; P < 0.001). M i-scan with CE did not show any significant improvements of image quality in general or in the 3 key parameters. Although M i-scan with TE and SE slightly increased the diagnostic yield of MWL, there was no significant difference (P > 0.1). | 5 | A short-term study of corneal collagen cross-linking with hypo-osmolar riboflavin solution in keratoconic corneas显示文摘AIM: To report the 3mo outcomes of collagen crosslinking(CXL) with a hypo-osmolar riboflavin in thin corneas with the thinnest thickness less than 400 μm without epithelium.METHODS: Eight eyes in 6 patients with age 26.2±4.8y were included in the study. All patients underwent CXL using a hypo-osmolar riboflavin solution after its de-epithelization. Best corrected visual acuity, manifest refraction, the thinnest corneal thickness, and endothelial cell density were evaluated before and 3mo after the procedure.RESULTS: The mean thinnest thickness of the cornea was 408.5 ±29.0 μm before treatment and reduced to369.8 ±24.8 μm after the removal of epithelium. With the application of the hypo-osmolar riboflavin solution, the thickness increased to 445.0 ±26.5 μm before CXL and recover to 412.5 ±22.7 μm at 3mo after treatment, P =0.659). Before surgery, the mean K-value of the apex of the keratoconus corneas was 57.6 ±4.0 diopters, and slightly decreased(54.7±4.9 diopters) after surgery(P =0.085). Mean best-corrected visual acuity was 0.55 ±0.23 logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution, and increased to 0.53±0.26 logarithm after surgery(P =0.879).The endothelial cell density was 2706.4 ±201.6 cells/mm2 before treatment, and slightly decreased( 2641. 2 ±218.2 cells/mm2) at last fellow up(P =0.002).CONCLUSION: Corneal collagen cross-linking with a hypo-osmolar riboflavin in thin corneas seems to be a promising treatment. | 10 | Association of ABO blood groups with the severity of coronary artery disease: a cross-sectional study显示文摘Objective To investigate whether ABO blood groups is associated with the severity of coronary artery disease(CAD). Methods Between January 2015 and December 2017, 1425 first diagnosed CAD patients confirmed by selective coronary angiography were recruited into this cross-sectional study, and their baseline characteristics, ABO blood groups, Gensini score were collected. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to test the association between the severity of CAD and ABO blood groups. Results The Gensini score was significantly higher in the blood group A than in the non-A groups(41.2 ± 32 vs. 38 ± 27;P = 0.026). After adjusting for age, male, smoking, family history of CAD, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and hypercholesterolemia, multivariate linear regression indicated that blood group A was associated with the severity of CAD(β= 3.298, 95% CI: 0.91–6.505, P = 0.044). In diabetes group, A blood type was also associated with increased Gensini score(P = 0.02) after adjusting for age, male, family history of CAD, hypercholesterolemia, smoking and hypertension. | 12 | A new gain-of-function OsGS2/GRF4 allele generated by CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing increases rice grain size and yield显示文摘Grain size is one of the most important factors affecting rice grain quality and yield,and attracts great attention from molecular biologists and breeders.In this study,we engineered a CRISPR/Cas9 system targeting the miR396 recognition site of the rice GS2 gene,which encodes growth-regulating factor 4(OsGRF4)and regulates multiple agronomic traits including grain size,grain quality,nitrogen use efficiency,abiotic stress response,and seed shattering.In contrast to most previous genome editing efforts in which indel mutations were chosen to obtain null mutants,a mutant named GS2^(E) carrying an in-frame 6-bp deletion and 1-bp substitution within the miR396-targeted sequence was identified.GS2^(E) plants showed increased expression of GS2 in consistent with impaired repression by miR396.As expected,the gain-of-function GS2^(E) mutant exhibited multiple beneficial traits including increased grain size and yield and bigger grain length/width ratio.Thousand grain weight and grain yield per plant of GS2^(E) plants were increased by 23.5%and 10.4%,respectively.These improved traits were passed to hybrids in a semidominant way,suggesting that the new GS2^(E) allele has great potential in rice improvement.Taken together,we report new GS2 germplasm and describe a novel gene-editing strategy that can be widely employed to improve grain size and yield in rice.This trait-improvement strategy could be applied to other genes containing miRNA target sites,in particular the conserved miR396-GRF/GIF module that governs plant growth,development and environmental response. | Wenshu Wang Weipeng Wang Yanlin Pan Chao Tan Hongjing Li Ya Chen Xingdan Liu Jing Wei Nian Xu Yu Han Han Gu Rongjian Ye Qi Ding Chonglie Ma | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,4: | 3 |

| 19 | Highly stable lithium anode enabled by self-assembled monolayer of dihexadecanoalkyl phosphate显示文摘Li has been considered as the ultimate anode material for high energy density secondary Li batteries.However,its practical application has been limited due to its low Coulombic efficiency(CE)and the formation of lithium dendrites.Recently,we have developed a microspherical Li-carbon nanotube(Li-CNT)composite material passivated with octadecylphosphonic acid(OPA)self-assembled monolayer(SAM)exhibiting suppressed lithium dendrite formation and improved environmental/electrochemical stability.In this work,we demonstrated the significantly enhanced passivation effects of a SAM using dihexadecanoalkyl phosphate(DHP),a molecule that is comprised of double hydrophobic alkyl chains and forms a denser SAM on surfaces with large curvature.As a result,the DHP SAM delivers superior environmental and electrochemical stability to the OPA passivated Li-CNT material.In specific,the DHP passivated Li-CNT composite(DHP-Li-CNT)delivers a high CE of 99.25%under a 33.3%depth of discharge(DOD)at 1 C,when it is paired with a LiFePO4 cathode.The evolution of the SAM during cycling and the effects of DOD and current density on the CE of the DHP-Li-CNT anode have also been investigated.The improved SAM passivation constitutes an important step in achieving the goal of practically applicable Li anodes. | Lei Zheng Feng Guo Tuo Kang Jin Yang Ya Liu Wei Gu Yanfei Zhao Hongzhen Lin Yanbin Shen Wei Lu Liwei Chen | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,5: | 1 |
