1Long-term joint effect of nutrients and temperature increase on algal growth in Lake Taihu,China显示文摘To study how global warming and eutrophication affect water ecosystems,a multiplicative growth Monod model,modified by incorporating the Arrhenius equation,was applied to Lake Taihu to quantitatively study the relationships between algal biomass and both nutrients and temperature using long-term data.To qualitatively assess which factor was a limitation of the improved model,temperature variables were calculated using annual mean air temperature (AT),water temperature (WT),and their average temperature (ST),while substrate variables were calculated using annual mean total nitrogen (TN),total phosphorus (TP),and their weighted aggregate (R),respectively.The nine fitted curves showed that TN and AT were two important factors influencing algal growth;AT limited growth as algal photosynthesis is mainly carried out near the water surface;N leakage of phytoplankton and internal phosphorus load from sediment explains why TN was the best predictor of peak biomass using the Monod model.The fitted results suggest that annual mean algal biomass increased by 0.145 times when annual mean AT increased by 1.0°C.Results also showed that the more eutrophic the lake,the greater the effect AT had on algal growth.Subsequently,the long-term joint effect of annual temperature increase and eutrophication to water ecosystems can be quantitatively assessed and predicted.Chun Ye Zhemin Shen Tao Zhang Maohong Fan Yangming Lei Jianda Zhang 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,2:9
2Fabrication of poly(vinylidene fluoride) membrane via thermally induced phase separation using ionic liquid as green diluent显示文摘Ionic liquid(IL),1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate([BMIM]PF6)as a new and environmentally friendly diluent was introduced to prepare poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)membranes via thermally induced phase separation(TIPS).Phase diagram of PVDF/[BMIM]PF6 was measured.The effects of polymer concentration and quenching temperature on the morphologies,properties,and performances of the PVDF membranes were investigated.When the polymer concentration was 15 wt%,the pure water flux of the fabricated membrane was up to nearly 2000 L·m-2·h-1,along with adequate mechanical strength.With the increasing of PVDF concentration and quenching temperature,mean pore size and water permeability of the membrane decreased.SEM results showed that PVDF membranes manufactured by ionic liquid(BMIm PF6)presented spherulite structure.And the PVDF membranes were represented asβphase by XRD and FTIR characterization.It provides a new way to prepare PVDF membranes with piezoelectric properties.Xiaozu Wang Xiaogang Li Juan Yue Yangming Cheng Ke Xu Qian Wang Fan Fan Zhaohui Wang Zhaoliang Cui 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,5:4
3A sulfotransferase gene BnSOT-like1 has a minor genetic effect on seed glucosinolate content in Brassica napus显示文摘The theory and associated selection methods of classical quantitative genetics are based on the multifactorial or polygene hypothesis.Major genes or quantitative trait loci(QTL)in modern quantitative genetics based on a“major gene plus polygenes”genetic system have been paid much attention in genetic studies.However,it remains unclear how the numerous minor genes act,although the polygene theory has sustained genetic improvement in plants and animals for more than a hundred years.In the present study,we identified a novel minor gene,BnSOT-like1(BnaA09g53490D),which is a sulfotransferase(SOT)gene catalyzing the formation of the core glucosinolate(GSL)structure in Brassica napus.This gene has been occasionally found during investigations of plant height-related genes,but has not been identified by QTL mapping because of its small phenotypic effects on GSL content.The overexpression of BnSOT-like1 up-regulated the expression of aliphatic GSL-associated genes,leading to a high seed aliphatic GSL content,and the overexpression of the allelic gene Bnsot-like1 did not increase seed GSL content.These findings suggest that the SOT gene has a marked effect on a quantitative trait from a reverse genetics standpoint,but a minor effect on the quantitative trait in its natural biological state.Because of the redundancy of GSL biosynthetic genes in the allotetraploid species B.napus,mutations of a single functional gene in the pathway will not result in significant phenotypic changes,and that the genes in biosynthetic pathways such as BnSOT-like1 in our study have minor effects and may be called polygenes in contrast to the reported three regulatory genes(BnHAG1s)which strongly affect GSL content in B.napus.The present study has shed light on a minor gene for a quantitative trait.Yangming Wang Shubei Wan Hao Fan Mao Yang Weiyan Li Rongzhan Guan 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,5:1
4A novel Nanocellulose-Gelatin-AS-IV external stent resists EndMT by activating autophagy to prevent restenosis of grafts显示文摘Vein grafts are widely used for coronary artery bypass grafting and hemodialysis access,but restenosis remains the'Achilles’heel'of these treatments.An extravascular stent is one wrapped around the vein graft and provides mechanical strength;it can buffer high arterial pressure and secondary vascular dilation of the vein to prevent restenosis.In this study,we developed a novel Nanocellulose-gelatin hydrogel,loaded with the drug Astragaloside IV(AS-IV)as an extravascular scaffold to investigate its ability to reduce restenosis.We found that the excellent physical and chemical properties of the drug AS-IV loaded Nanocellulose-gelatin hydrogel external stent limit graft vein expansion and make the stent biocompatible.We also found it can prevent restenosis by resisting endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EndMT)in vitro.It does so by activating autophagy,and AS-IV can enhance this effect both in vivo and in vitro.This study has added to existing research on the mechanism of extravascular stents in preventing restenosis of grafted veins.Furthermore,we have developed a novel extravascular stent for the prevention and treatment of restenosis.This will help optimize the clinical treatment plan of external stents and improve the prognosis in patients with vein grafts.Tianshu Chu Qingye Li Chun Dai Xiang Li Xiang Kong Yangming Fan Hongyan Yin Jianjun Ge 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,4:0
