1Genome-wide variants of Eurasian facial shape differentiation and a prospective model of DNA based face prediction显示文摘It is a long-standing question as to which genes define the characteristic facial features among different ethnic groups. In this study, we use Uyghurs, an ancient admixed population to query the genetic bases why Europeans and Han Chinese look different. Facial traits were analyzed based on high-dense 3D facial images; numerous biometric spaces were examined for divergent facial features between European and Han Chinese, ranging from inter-landmark distances to dense shape geometrics. Genome-wide association studies(GWAS) were conducted on a discovery panel of Uyghurs. Six significant loci were identified, four of which, rs1868752, rs118078182, rs60159418 at or near UBASH3B, COL23A1, PCDH7 and rs17868256 were replicated in independent cohorts of Uyghurs or Southern Han Chinese. 3Serum semaphorin 4C as a diagnostic biomarker in breast cancer:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Background:To date,there is no approved blood-based biomarker for breast cancer detection.Herein,we aimed to assess semaphorin 4C(SEMA4C),a pivotal protein involved in breast cancer progression,as a serum diagnostic biomarker.Methods:We included 6,213 consecutive inpatients from Tongji Hospital,Qilu Hospital,and Hubei Cancer Hospital.Training cohort and two validation cohorts were introduced for diagnostic exploration and validation.A pan-cancer cohort was used to independently explore the diagnostic potential of SEMA4C among solid tumors.Breast cancer patients who underwent mass excision prior to modified radical mastectomy were also analyzed.We hypothesized that increased pretreatment serum SEMA4C levels,measured using optimized in-house enzymelinked immunosorbent assay kits,could detect breast cancer.The endpoints were diagnostic performance,including area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),sensitivity,and specificity.Post-surgery pathological diagnosis was the reference standard and breast cancer staging followed the TNM classification.There was no restriction on disease stage for eligibilities.Results:We included 2667 inpatients with breast lesions,2378 patients with other solid tumors,and 1168 healthy participants.Specifically,118 patients with breast cancer were diagnosed with stage 0(5.71%),620 with stage I(30.00%),966 with stage II(46.73%),217 with stage III(10.50%),and 8 with stage IV(0.39%).Patients with breast cancer had significantly higher serum SEMA4C levels than benign breast tumor patients and normal controls(P<0.001).Elevated serum SEMA4C levels had AUC of 0.920(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.900–0.941)and 0.932(95%CI:0.911–0.953)for breast cancer detection in the two validation cohorts.The AUCs for detecting early-stage breast cancer(n=366)and ductal carcinoma in situ(n=85)were 0.931(95%CI:0.916–0.946)and 0.879(95%CI:0.832–0.925),respectively.Serum SEMA4C levels significantly decreased after surgery,and the reduction was more striking after modified radical mastectomy,compared with mass excision(P<0.001).The positive rate of enhanced serum SEMA4C levels was 84.77%for breast cancer and below 20.75%for the other 14 solid tumors.Conclusions:Serum SEMA4C demonstrated promising potential as a candidate biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis.However,validation in prospective settings and by other study groups is warranted.Ya Wang Long Qiao Jie Yang Xiong Li Yaqi Duan Jiahao Liu Shaoqi Chen Huayi Li Dan Liu Tian Fang Jingjing Ma Xiaoting Li Fei Ye Junxiang Wan Juncheng Wei Qin Xu Ensong Guo Ping Jin Mingfu Wu Lin Zhang Yun Xia Yaqun Wu Jun Shao Yaojun Feng Qing Zhang Zongyuan Yang Gang Chen Qinghua Zhang Xingrui Li Shixuan Wang Junbo Hu Xiaoyun Wang Mona P.Tan Kazuaki Takabe Beihua Kong Qifeng Yang Ding Ma Qinglei Gao 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,12:3

5Development of Ti-Al-Ta-Nb-(Re)near-αhigh temperature titanium alloy:Microstructure,thermal stability and mechanical properties显示文摘Mechanical properties and microstructural stability under the service temperature are important to the high temperature titanium alloy.In order to evaluate the potential in increase the service temperature of Ti alloy,two near-αTi alloys with high content of Al asα-stabilizer and Ta,Nb and/or Re asβ-stabilizers were designed and prepared by ingot metallurgy and thermomechanical processing,and the microstructure and mechanical properties before and after thermal exposure at 650℃ for 100 h were characterized.The results indicated that due to the weakβ-stabilizing ability of Ta and Nb elements,only a small amount ofβphase was formed in Ti-10Al-4Ta-2Nb alloy.With a trace Re addition,theβphase was obviously increased in Ti-10Al-4Ta-2Nb-0.25Re,indicating that the Re was a strongβ-stabilizer.Under the same thermomechanical conditions,the Re addition decreased the volume fraction of primaryα(α_(p))phase and refined the secondaryα(α_(s))phase evidently.The primaryαphase presented an obvious core-shell structure in the Ti-10Al-4Ta-2Nb alloy,with higher Al concentration in the shell.While the core-shell structure was not obvious in the Re-containing alloy due to the Re decreases the diffusion of Al,Ta and Nb elements.A large number of orderedα_(2)precipitates can be observed in theα_(p)andα_(s) phases of two alloys.Theα_(2)precipitates continuously grew up during thermal exposure,however,their growth rate in theα_(s)phase of Re-containing alloy were lower than that of Ti-10Al-4Ta-2Nb alloy.Although plenty of orderedα_(2)precipitates formed in the Ti-10Al-4Ta-2Nb alloy,the alloy had a certain plasticity at room temperature.The trace Re addition evidently increased the tensile strength but caused the decrease of the plasticity.After thermal exposure,the strength was further increased,while the plasticity was decreased for both of alloys.Juan Li Yaqun Xu Wenlong Xiao Chaoli Ma Xu Huang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,14:1
6Genomic diversity and post-admixture adaptation in the Uyghurs显示文摘Population admixture results in genome-wide combinations of genetic variants derived from different ancestral populations of distinct ancestry, thus providing a unique opportunity for understanding the genetic determinants of phenotypic variation in humans. Here, we used whole-genome sequencing of 92 individuals with high coverage(30–60×) to systematically investigate genomic diversity in the Uyghurs living in Xinjiang, China(XJU), an admixed population of both European-like and East-Asian-like ancestry.The XJU population shows greater genetic diversity, especially a higher proportion of rare variants,compared with their ancestral source populations, corresponding to greater phenotypic diversity of XJU.Admixture-induced functional variants in EDAR were associated with the diversity of facial morphology in XJU. Interestingly, the interaction of functional variants between SLC24A5 and OCA2 likely influences the diversity of skin pigmentation. Notably, selection has seemingly been relaxed or canceled in several genes with significantly biased ancestry, such as HERC2–OCA2. Moreover, signatures of post-admixture adaptation in XJU were identified, including genes related to metabolism(e.g. CYP2D6), digestion(e.g.COL11A1), olfactory perception(e.g. ANO2) and immunity(e.g. HLA). 7Effects of tungsten addition on the microstructural stability and properties of Ti-6.5Al-2Sn-4Hf-2Nb-based high temperature titanium alloys显示文摘The microstructural evolution,oxidation resistance and mechanical properties of Ti-6.5Al-2Sn-4Hf-2 Nbbased alloys with different contents of tungsten(W)additions ranging from 0 to 4.0 wt.%have been investigated in this study.The addition of W changed the microstructure from Widmanstatten colony of the W-free alloy to basketweave microstructure.After thermal exposure at 650℃ for 1000 h,the retainedβphase became less continuous,and secondaryβnano-particles with high W concentration were precipitated fromαlamellas.Withinαlamellas,the W was found to mainly partitioned into the secondaryβphase and refined the ordered α_(2)-Ti_(3)Al precipitates due to increased solubility of Nb in α_(2) phase.High W addition increased activation energy for oxidation,promoting the formation of more uniform and compact compound oxides,therefore substantially enhanced the oxidation resistance of the alloy.Besides,the W addition also improved the room and high-temperature yield strength without obviously losing plasticity after long-time thermal exposure.The improved mechanical performance was mainly attributed to the introduction of moreα/βinterfaces,the precipitation of secondaryβphase and the refinedα_(2) phase with Nb segregation.Yaqun Xu Yu Fu Juan Li Wenlong Xiao Xinqing Zhao Chaoli Ma 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,34:1
8Boosting the Ni-Zn interplay via O/N dual coordination for high-efficiency CO_(2) electroreduction显示文摘Design of supportive atomic sites with a controllably adjusted coordinating environment is essential to advancing the reduction of CO_(2) to value-added fuels and chemicals and to achieving carbon neutralization.Herein,atomic Ni(Zn)sites that are uniquely coordinated with ternary Zn(Ni)/N/O ligands were successfully decorated on formamide-derived porous carbon nanomaterials,possibly forming an atomic structure of Ni(N_(2)O_(1))-Zn(N_(2)O_(1)),as studied by combining X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy.With the mediation of additional O coordination,the Ni-Zn dual site induces significantly decreased desorption of molecular CO.The NiZn-NC decorated with rich Ni(N_(2)O_(1))-Zn(N_(2)O_(1))sites remarkably gained>97%CO Faraday efficiency over a wide potential range of -0.8 to -1.1 V(relative to reversible hydrogen electrode).Density functional theory computations suggest that the N/O dual coordination effectively modulates the electronic structure of the Ni-Zn duplex and optimizes the adsorption and conversion properties of CO_(2) and subsequent intermediates.Different from the conventional pathway of using Ni as the active site in the Ni-Zn duplex,it is found that the Ni-neighboring Zn sites in the Ni(N_(2)O_(1))-Zn(N_(2)O_(1))coordination showed much lower energy barriers of the CO_(2) protonation step and the subsequent dehydroxylation step.Ying Zhang Hailei Jiang Anuj Kumar Hongchuan Zhang Zongge Li Tongxin Xu Yuan Pan Yaqun Wang Zhiming Liu Guoxin Zhang Zifeng Yan 2023Carbon Energy2023,5,4:0
9Expression profiles of east–west highly differentiated genes in Uyghur genomes显示文摘It remains unknown and debatable how European-Asian–differentiated alleles affect individual phenotypes.Here,we made the first effort to analyze the expression profiles of highly differentiated genes with eastern and western origins in 90 Uyghurs using whole-genome(30×to 60×)and transcriptome data.We screened 921872 east–west highly differentiated genetic variants,of which~4.32%were expression quantitative trait loci(e QTLs),~0.12%were alternative splicing quantitative trait loci(s QTLs),and~0.12%showed allele-specific expression(ASE).The 8305 highly differentiated eQTLs of strong effects appear to have undergone natural selection,associated with immunity and metabolism.European-origin alleles tend to be more biasedly expressed;highly differentiated ASEs were enriched in diabetes-associated genes,likely affecting the diabetes susceptibility in the Uyghurs.We proposed an admixture-induced expression model to dissect the highly differentiated expression profiles.We provide new insights into the genetic basis of phenotypic differentiation between Western and Eastern populations,advancing our understanding of the impact of genetic admixture.Zhilin Ning Xinjiang Tan Yuan Yuan Ke Huang Yuwen Pan Lei Tian Yan Lu Xiaoji Wang Ruicheng Qi Dongsheng Lu Yajun Yang Yaqun Guan Dolikun Mamatyusupu Shuhua Xu 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:0
10Confined synthesis of MoS_(2) with rich co-doped edges for enhanced hydrogen evolution performance显示文摘Activating MoS_(2) with atomic metal doping is promising to harvest desirable Pt-matched hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)catalytic performance.Herein,we developed an efficient method to access edgerich lattice-distorted MoS_(2) for highly efficient HER via in-situ sulphuration of atomic Co/Mo species that were well-dispersed in a formamide-derived N-doped carbonaceous(f-NC)substrate.Apart from others,pre-embedding Co/Mo species in f-NC controls the release of metal sources upon annealing in S vapor,grafting the as-made MoS_(2) with merits of short-range crystallinity,distorted lattices,rich defects,and more edges exposed.The content of atomic Co species embedded in MoS_(2) reaches up to 2.85 at.%,and its atomic dispersion has been systematically confirmed by using XRD,HRTEM,XPS,and XAS characterizations.The Co-doped MoS_(2) sample exhibits excellent HER activity,achieving overpotentials of 67 and155 m V at j=10 m A cm^(-2) in 1.0 M KOH and 0.5 M H_(2)SO_(4),respectively.Density functional theory simulations suggest that,compared with free-doping MoS_(2),the edged Co doping is responsible for the significantly improved HER activity.Our method,in addition to providing reliable Pt-matched HER catalysts,may also inspire the general synthesis of edge-rich metal-doped metal chalcogenide for a wide range of energy conversion applications.Zongge Li Chenlei Li Jianwen Chen Xu Xing Yaqun Wang Ying Zhang Miaosen Yang Guoxin Zhang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,7:0
11Self-powered anti-interference photoelectrochemical immunosensor based on Au/ZIS/CIS heterojunction photocathode with zwitterionic peptide anchoring显示文摘Accurate detection of important biomarkers with ultra-low levels in complex biological matrix is one of the frontier scientific issues because of possible signal interference of potential reductive agents and protein molecules.Herein,a self-powered anti-interference photoelectrochemical(PEC)immunosensor was explored for sensitive and specific detection of model target of cardiac troponinⅠ(cTnI).Specifically,a novel ternary heterojunction served as the photocathode to offer a remarkable current output and a zwitterionic peptide was introduced to build a robust antifouling biointerface.CuInS(CIS)film with porous network nanostructure was first prepared and then modified in order with ZnInS(ZIS)nanocrystals and Au nanoparticles to fabricate the Au/ZIS/CIS heterojunction photocathode.After capture cTnI antibody(Ab)was immobilized,the zwitterionic peptide KAEAKAEAPPPPC was then anchored to compete the immunosensor.The elaborated PEC immunosensor exhibited high sensitivity for target cTnI antigen(Ag)detection,with good anti-interference against reductive agents and nonspecific proteins.This integration strategy of heterojunction photocathode with zwitterionic peptide provides a new sight to develop advanced PEC immunosensors applying in practical biosamples.Ze Hu Yaqun Xu Hao Wang Gao-Chao Fan Xiliang Luo 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,11:0
12Experimental Study of Dissolution-Alteration of Amphibole in a Hydrothermal Environment显示文摘Amphibole is a rock-forming mineral widely existing on the earth.It is easily dissolved and altered during the later stage of diagenesis and mineralization,and often forms chloritization,which is an important indicator for prospecting.To explore amphibole's dissolution process and alteration mechanism,dissolution experiments were carried out under acidic conditions using pargasite-rich amphibole as raw material,and the effects of temperature,p H,and experiment duration on amphibole alteration were investigated.Experimental samples and products were analyzed using X-ray diffractometer,field emission scanning electron microscope,electron probe micro analyzer,and transmission electron microscopy.It was found that many pores and erosion edges are produced after amphibole dissolution,and there is a clear interface between the dissolved residual portion and the parent.The dissolved residual portion remains in the amphibole phase,but as the temperature and time increase,the intensity of the diffraction peak of the phase in the product decreases,and the peak position shifts to a small angle.Many clay minerals such as chlorite and griffithite formed on the amphibole surface.In an environment with strong acidity(p H=3),the amount of chamosite increases with temperature(180℃→210℃→240℃),whereas clinochlore is only increased in a 150–210℃environment.Griffithite growth was observed in the acidic(p H=6)and low temperature(<180℃)environments.Based on this analysis,large radius Cl–enters the amphibole lattice or cracks to promote dissolution.The Al-poor and Ca-and Fe-rich regions between the edge and core of the amphibole are caused by dynamic equilibrium in amphibole dissolution and alteration process,which is an essential indicator for the beginning of amphibole dissolution-alteration.Diffusion and the coupled dissolution-reprecipitation mechanism accomplishes the process of dissolution and alteration to form clay minerals.The energy of the system determined by temperature and p H is the key to controlling the rate of growth and nucleation of clay minerals.High temperature and strong acidity will dissolve more iron from amphibole,which is conducive to chlorite growth.Compared to chlorite,griffithite is more sensitive to temperature.Griffithite attaches on the amphibole surface with a star-like in a weak acid and low-temperature environment.The results of this study can provide a mineralogical basis for the analysis of hydrothermal alteration processes and the division of alteration zones.LI Yongli HUANG Fei GAO Wenyuan TANG Xu REN Yaqun MENG Lin ZHANG Zhibin 2019Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,6:0
