| 1 | Rethinking phonons:The issue of disorder显示文摘Current understanding of phonons treats them as plane waves/quasi-particles of atomic vibration that propagate and scatter.The problem is that conceptually,when any level of disorder is introduced,whether compositional or structural,the character of vibrational modes in solids changes,yet nearly all theoretical treatments continue to assume phonons are still waves.For example,the phonon contributions to alloy thermal conductivity(TC)rely on this assumption and are most often computed from the virtual crystal approximation(VCA).Good agreement is obtained in some cases,but there are many instances where it fails—both quantitatively and qualitatively.Here,we show that the conventional theory and understanding of phonons requires revision,because the critical assumption that all phonons/normal modes resemble plane waves with well-defined velocities is no longer valid when disorder is introduced.Here we show,surprisingly,that the character of phonons changes dramatically within the first few percent of impurity concentration,beyond which phonons more closely resemble the modes found in amorphous materials.We then utilize a different theory that can treat modes with any character and experimentally confirm its new insights. | Hamid Reza Seyf Luke Yates Thomas L.Bougher Samuel Graham Baratunde A.Cola Theeradetch Detchprohm Mi-Hee Ji Jeomoh Kim Russell Dupuis Wei Lv Asegun Henry | 2017 | npj Computational Materials2017,,1: | 1 |

| 4 | Dammarane-type triterpenoid saponins isolated from Gynostemma pentaphyllum ameliorate liver fibrosis via agonizing PP2Cαand inhibiting deposition of extracellular matrix显示文摘Gypenosides,structurally analogous to ginsenosides and derived from a sustainable source,are recognized as the principal active compounds found in Gynostemma pentaphyllum,a Chinese medicinal plant used in the treatment of the metabolic syndrome.By bioactive tracking isolation of the plants collected from different regions across China,we obtained four new gypenosides(1−4),together with nine known gypenosides(5−13),from the methanol extract of the plant.The structures of new gypenosides were elucidated by one-dimensional(1D)and two-dimensional(2D)nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectra,complemented by chemical degradation experiments.Through comprehensive evaluation involving COL1A1 promoter assays and PP2Cαactivity assays,we established a definitive structure-activity relationship for these dammarane-type triterpenoids,affirming the indispensability of the C-3 saccharide chain and C-17 lactone ring in effectively impeding extracellular matrix(ECM)deposition within hepatic stellate cells.Further in vivo study on the CCl4-induced liver damage mouse model corroborated that compound 5 significantly ameliorated the process of hepatic fibrosis by oral administration.These results underscore the potential of dammarane-type triterpenoids as prospective antifibrotic leads and highlight their prevalence as key molecular frameworks in the therapeutic intervention of chronic hepatic disorders. | LIU Yue YANG Yating WANG Hanghang LI Han LV Qi WANG Xiachang WU Dalei HU Lihong ZHANG Yinan | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,8: | 1 |
| 5 | QTL Mapping of Vernalization Requirement in Brassica rapa显示文摘An F2 population,derived from a cross between the vernalization independent genotype‘Rc Br'and the vernalization dependent genotype‘08A061',was developed to construct a linkage map with 165 SSR and In Del markers. QTL analysis was performed by two phenotypic evaluation( days to 5 cm elongate stalk and flowering time) based on the difference in F2: 3families under vernalization and no vernalization. The results showed that the vernalization requirement was recessive in Brassica rapa. Seven QTLs that controlled vernalization requirement were detected on A02 and A06 linkage groups,which explained phenotypic variation ranging from 0. 08% to 22. 52%. Two QTLs( VR-DE01,VR-FT01) were detected on the top of A02,which explained 22. 52% and 14. 54% of the phenotypic variation,respectively,and closely linked with Br FLC2 gene. Two QTLs( VR-DE03,VR-DE04) were detected on A06 with 13. 30% and 13. 64% of phenotypic variation. | 9 | Silica Modulation of Raney Nickel Catalysts for Selective Hydrogenation显示文摘Selective hydrogenation over earth-abundant metal catalysts is challenging but particularly valuable for practical applications in heterogeneous catalysis.Herein,we demonstrate that the catalytic selectivity of the commercial Raney nickel catalyst can be greatly tuned by modulation of the nickel surface by silica.Using quinoline hydrogenation as a model,we show that the silica-modified Raney nickel catalysts exhibit good activity,excellent selectivity,and long stability,whereas the undesired over-hydrogenation reactions are effectively hindered.In contrast,the pristine Raney nickel catalyst shows inferior selectivity for the targeted product.Mechanistic studies confirm a positive role of silica to facilitate the desorption of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline from the catalyst surface,thus enhancing the product selectivity. | Yating Lv Hai Wang Huixin Wu Qingsong Luo Liang Wang Feng-Shou Xiao | 2023 | Precision Chemistry2023,1,5: | 0 |
